What’s truly amazing is that while our country spends billions of dollars on the military industrial complex & creating conflicts & wars overseas that it turns a ‘blind eye’ towards resolving the basic needs of it’s citizens. Homelessness, mental illness, poverty, starvation, in drinkable water, etc. Politicians only boast about what they’re doing to resolve homelessness but are they? What size shoes does he wear?
I actually did try back in ‘09, but failed.
@keecefly not only are you a racist based on your first statement, but you managed to call the man in the video a loser which indicates to me that you're not very bright.
Maybe you keep hitting rock bottom because of the energy your putting out there. Something to think about maybe.
@keecefly It looks like I forgot homophobic as well
keecefly Not long ago, my grandma made a comment about how white people are the only ones that commit suicide. She said this while sitting next to her black grandchild that was secretly struggling with suicidal thoughts. Please educate yourself.
A lot of people are two paychecks away from being homeless. God please bless anyone who's struggling especially if they're homeless.
people who are winners have to support many others.
That’s me 😞
God does say blessed are the poor

Can’t someone hire him ? He’s obviously a very smart man
He's running for mayor. Probably focusing on that and isn't lookin for work.
Even if he had work he still probably couldn't get a place to live. He was even talking about UPS drivers and other people living in his tent community with jobs yet they're all there, homeless.
McDonalds, Walmart, GameStop, winco, Burger King, auto zone, pawn shops, janitors, basically jobs are out there but people pride and ego won’t let them work places where we would work.
Actually, how smart can you be if you go from millionaire and owning boats to being homeless?
@@Teleios116 And none of those would get him enough money to survive anyways on his own and he didn't have an address. It's pretty difficult to get a job when homeless. Plus he has some medical history, whatever it is.
I work with a lot of smart people, and this man is the real deal.
He became homeless, but i just wanna say he survived cancer and i wish him to stay healthy, health is more important than any wealth
He would probably be the best mayor a city could ever have. Best wishes to you Derrick. I would vote for you in a heartbeat.
Those who are compassionate towards commoners are unlikely to become a person charged with governance.
Can we get this guy to be mayor. We need better people with authority not greedy privileged people that will only help those that already have money.
That's the sad truth about this, these people are the ones that should be leading, not the greedy soulless snakes that currently sit on the positions.
You say that but as soon as we start getting honest leaders, politicians or anyone with any sort of authority over the other 98%, the world starts to fall. We're built on corruption and the only way that we can continue to live without it getting worse is actually with corruption. It sounds fucked up but it's very true.
Vote him in2022. Get the homeless voting so they can get off the street.

@Kelvynn Lee what do you mean "yet" ?
Kelvynn Lee Are you the guy in the video?
Xbxbcc no
This guys attitude is better then many richer people. It shows its not what happens to you it how you react to it that counts
You have to lose it all to understand money. These people are ignorant but humble and show gratitude when its gone. What does in profit a man to gain the world but lose your soul.
Popoulos3121 see the Cross behind him?
@Popoulos3121 My freind I have been homeless. I know what I am talking about. Your attitude is everything. Yes events can effect you negatively ofcourse but in the end its a positive attitude that pulls you through it not drowning in the "poor me " attitude. Yes maybe Americans know that better than most.
Always be grateful for what you have. There is a fine line between being okay and being homeless.
Now this is what you call being homeless with dignity!
such a bummer, this guy seems like such a good, humble dude. HE clearly doesnt deserve to be homeless.
Nobody deserves to be homeless
This entire channel just serves to remind everyone that almost no one deserves to be homeless

I’m in the same boat. Pay check to pay check and over drawn before I cash my check.
one paycheck away..
Derrick is exactly the kind of person we need to vote into office but it won't happen because he wants to fix the problems but they aren't profitable. Sad but true.
Certain Current Policies of both Sacramento & The Country- helped create much of this exasperated situation we see today across the nation.
@Matt Gilbert Picking random people out of the phonebook is exactly how the Democrat party picks their candidates. Just look at AOC: she was a waitress before she became a politician.
He's really a gentleman with politeness.
God please bless him and let him get back on his feet soon
One paycheck away..most of us!!
FACTS
I prefer to think of it as one circumstance away.
I’m sick of this shit.
Yup.
I was affected by lung disease
.. got so sick.. could not work, had to leave my job... living with my dad.. of course when he is angry he and my sister who does not live with us.. ask me to get out of the house.. but i'm still living here no where to go.. i am hoping to get my own place God willing..
Everyone says homelessness is due to laziness snd not wanting to work. That’s clearly a lie. Sure some people but the majority don’t want to be homeless. Things happen. Life is unfair and difficult.
I believe that. It like a black hole; once you get sucked in, it is hard to get out.
@@howellwong11 yup i was a fsrm kid. Then truck driver. Bought a home and had a good life. Failed my medical for health issues. Never in my life did drugs. @@howellwong11 ya but in your day a home was a few hundred bucks and only 1 person in the family had to work. Cost of living was dirt cheap. Now cost of living so high. Family dont help family. A 300 buck home from your first home is now a million. You are lucky to be so old and lived when it was going good and wont see the worse. 80 yrs ago very few were truly homeless as family helped family. Now greed took over the world and family rather fuck you over then help. I know many old people. They are 90 yrs old and own 3 houses and very well off. I know many under 30 that live pay to pay and cant ever save even a down payment unless come from money. So sit on your high horse and judge others that struggle and only getting worse not better. Im sure gods judgement to the judging and greed not so nice. Even the 70s my parents bought a nice home under 50 grand and now its worth 450 grand. They got devorsed, my mother got nothing and ya i from that day on had nothing to start a life. Many have even less. I have also heard of old people that eat dog food to survive so not all well off because born into poverty.
@@shawnkelly1241 I always considered myself lucky to be a Depression baby, but my generation lived in a different world from those 50 years before us and 50 years after us. I never bought a house until 9 years into my retirement. I worked overseas nearly all my life, so we all had different situations. One constant is that we all have to have a life plan and those who didn't is now suffering.

This reminds me of where I reside, Hawaii. The high cost of living put a lot of people on the streets here. I’m really scared that me and my children could end up homeless.
I hope it all works for you💕💓🇨🇦
