If a homeless man asked me for money, I would be like "no, I don't have money".
But if a homeless man asked me to buy him some foods, I would gladly help.
I’ve had homeless people ask me for money and I just ask them if they want food or if they need something else like medicine or clothes usually it’s one or the other.
Agreed, this has always been what I go by. However, one time a homeless lady asked me for some money. I told her "I don't have cash to give, but I can get you a sandwich from the store there?". Her response: "I don't want a sandwich, I want cash". I told her: "Well, I don't have cash with me to give. Sorry". Then she had the audacity to say: "There's a cash machine right around the corner, you could just grab me a ten or something?"

It disgusts me how apathetic people are nowadays. I remember when I was 18 years old, I saw a homeless guy, probably no older than 20, sleeping under a bench in front of a Vons. He had a dog with him who was just huddled up next to him.
Going into the store with my mom, all I could think of was that poor kid. I imagined myself in his shoes, and it hurt just thinking about it. After shopping for a few minutes with my mom, I told her I’d be back. I bought him some food that wouldn’t spoil (A large box of Ritz crackers and a 1 gallon jug of water). I went outside, and because I didn’t want to wake him, I just sat it down next to him and looked at him for a few seconds wishing I could help more. I pet his dog for a moment (a super mellow dog), then I got up and turned around to go back in the store. There were these two girls walking by, looking at me in disgust, as if I pulled my crotch out or something. I didn’t say anything to them, but I walked away very irritated by those girls.
I can only hope that boy has managed to get his footing in life, and I hope those girls turn those views of theirs around.

I’ve had people tell me they’re hungry or want food, and when I offer to buy food or offer them my meal, they argue for me to give them money, not actually the food. When a homeless person asks for food and accepts food, those are the ones I’m happy to help.
there's a growing trend of people giving drugged/poisoned and contaminated food to the homeless as pranks or worse yet as means of kidnapping and trafficking them. it only makes sense to be wary when you're literally all alone in the world. I won't tell you how to spend your money but know that the average homeless person isn't trying to scam you, just buy something other than food (i.e. clothing, bus fare, shoes, and unfortunately sometimes drugs/alcohol)
@@limmiedee7405 I was purchasing the food in front of them from a regular food vendor, so that wouldn’t be the reason in this case. If they want clothes or something, then they should ask for that, and not for food then want the money instead. One homeless woman would ask me for bus tickets sometimes. I bought her a meal before too. We walk together to Subway, and talked along the way. She was a drug addict, but I knew the money was being used on food and transportation (she’d sometimes ride the bus to her daughter’s home in the winter to stay there), and not using cash on drugs. She was honest. You can't tell anymore who appreciates these gestures and who's only in it for the drugs/booze. That's why I don't feel comfortable giving anything at all. I'm struggling with money myself. I know I'm gonna be using it on food, so I can't risk spending it on some ungrateful jerks.
@@limmiedee7405 Just from my experience, every homeless person I've encountered so far has been rude and ungrateful, and I've met quite a few. I never have cash on me, just card, so when I tell someone I can't help them with the bus fare or something, they actually get pissed with me. One homeless woman actually asked me for money, and when I said I didn't have any, she told me there was an ATM machine and I could draw some there. Like nah, stop this already 💀 That kind of desperation is not for food, it's only for drugs.
“The general manager let them _buy_ anything they wanted that night,” after an employee refused to let a customer PAY for food and even called the police on her.
How big of the general manager 🙄
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the response from management was less than adequate. They also said they would retrain employees on how to "talk" to guess instead of retraining them on how to "treat" guests. So sounds like they were fine with them refusing service just not they way in which they communicated it
I heard that too ! As if that's a blessing or something lol.
I heard that as well, however I read an article (before coming to RUclips), they allowed them to get whatever they wanted free of charge.
That's my exact 💯 thoughts weird 🤔
Mhmm. People get free meals for a lot less than this! They could've got somebody shot that night if just the right cop had responded
So let me get this straight, according to to Popeye's Employee, buying homeless man food is a crime? And they actually called the cops? Wow! You should not even have to be re trained on how to do your job at this point. Anyone decent human being would see nothing wrong this act.
Actually, it IS a crime in the state of Georgia to feed the homeless. Someone else here who lives there said you actually have to have a permit. Those employees probably knew the law, which is why they did what they did. What did you want them to do, break the law, lose their jobs, so that you can feel better? No she is actually breaking the law. It is illegal in most places to buy food for the homeless. Her and the cop may not know the law, but it is illegal in Georgia to give food to the homeless without a permit, and has been for decades. To give homeless people food you must have a permit. Ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law. How does the news station not know this is a law? Not only is it illegal for people to give food to the homeless, it is illegal for restaurants to sell to people they know are going to give it to the homeless, and can cause them to be heavily fined. The worker clearly knows that, which is why she refused to sell to her. Sure they are trying to paint it like she is some kind of hero, and they are simply ignoring the fact that it is against the law for the restaurant to sell food to her. I remember this was a huge issue just a few years back when the Democrat mayor demanded that the police start enforcing the law about giving food to homeless people, because it was causing homeless people to loiter at restaurants, and was causing crimes to happen because homeless people were assaulting people that did not buy them food.

This is wasting public employee (police) resources when there’s REAL crime out there. 🤦🏽♂️
You’re absolutely arguing for a point of ignorance
the homeless are a total scourge on businesses
Yep in most parts of America that's true
Common sense is some customers would not want homeless people going up to them asking for food/money and it can drive away business.
I worked at a gas station where real and fake homeless people would be asking all the customers for money. Some of them that was literally their job to con people. Most of them did not ask for food but even some who did it was a con since they were not homeless.
I feel sympathy to real homeless or even someone who is down on their luck who isnt who seriously just wants food.
Letting homeless stay on or near some businesses can invite a ton of problems.
It is a sad situation that the real homeless who are respectful get grouped in with the others.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants that’s why you ask if someone is actually homeless first to make sure you aren’t getting a con person. Certain people would most likely be telling the truth if they say they are homeless. You should be able to tell the fake homeless people from the real thing

By buying food for the homeless, you are enabling (and possibly emboldening) their useless existences and non-contributions to society. You're better off giving them a card of a social worker who could help find them gainful employment, provided they are interested in having integrity and work ethic.
@@larrybaygaming even if they can't get food stamps there are an ABUNDANCE of free food resources available to the homeless that don't require them to manipulate private citizens, having worked with the homeless for about two decades I am here to let you know, even the ones just asking for food are trying to get money out of you, I have watched HUNDREDS of people "asking for food" throw that food directly away after the person who gave it to them leaves the scene, I totally get wanting to have good morals and be a good person and help those in need but most people just don't have the direct experience with enough homeless to understand the real truth - these are mostly addicts and criminals, the rest are mentally ill, either way they should be getting their food in jails or psych hospitals, the fact that we haven't advocated for that proper infrastructure to be in place is a talking point - there's also a VERY tiny percentage of homeless that truly "fell on hard times" but ALL of those people find their way out using the support systems in place and don't rely on flying an "Anything Helps" or "Just Hungry" sign which is intended solely to tug at your generous heart strings.
Furthermore just to bring my point home I've been a part of a couple dozen incidents of people advertising a "Will work for food" attitude and/or sign and simply stealing everything from a person once brought on to help. I've personally seen thousands of dollars of construction tools, thousands of dollars of jewelry and cash, and multiple vehicles, including a pet, stolen by people saying they would "work for food". It's called GETTING A JOB. I know this all will make snowflakes mad but you have to realize, you are advocating for feelings and I am advocating for facts.
