This reminds me of a story from ten years ago where a guy made like 1500 tiny homes for the homeless in Los Angeles. It made huge news, Then the mayor demolished them and the excuse was it could’ve been a safety hazard because the city hadn’t sent building and safety inspectors to see if it was safe to live in the tiny homes. Then to add insult to injury the mayor tried to make his own version of it and charge the homeless. We all saw it as a BS attempt to save face and take a good idea and capitalize off of it. He got voted out because of it.
LA county makes a lot of money off of keeping people homeless, it is now where gangs deal drugs and women are sexually assaulted, LA county knows about it and does nothing. Everyone knows they are making money off it, you call them out and say something about COVID, this city is Gotham City now, just like they want it. CA and LA are under a political stranglehold.
Thing is the extreme left is Against tiny homes. They consider them inadequate for homeless people who want an apartment, not a “shed.” 🤷🏻♀️. Look at the arguments presented by DSA groups, they’re always against any politicians who propose tiny homes. At least that’s the problem we have here in Echo Park. That’s the argument they use to malign current City leaders.
He really is. He’s making a difference, but all this country wants is for people to live in the system, working their bs jobs and paying their bs fees.
Start by letting a homeless or two live in your house or or backyard, if you don't care about money and greed. Rather than making them stay in other peoples neighborhood, people who work and invested in they're homes value.
They who? Cupcake? They who paid for it? They who pay the taxes on it? And JUST a piece of land is like giving a kid a baloney sandwich with no mayo. They can eat it but its not delicious like it would be with mayo. That piece of land needs toilets, faucets, etc. So what good was he really doing?
This is just evil! They don’t want homeless loitering on their properties , but also won’t let them live in peace on their own properties. What the heck!
It's because there's no benefit for them to do so, they'll destory these homes hoping they make there way to prisons. They'll do everything in there power to make the lives of the poorest worse because they're a bunch of heartless corrupt bastards who we voted into office based off a shitty lobbist payed campigans so they can get some greed corrupt pos into office for there own benefits. Nothing will change till people get smarter or we do something about lobbying.
Of course it's evil. Those government officials worship satan. Don't worry, God will destroy them ALL. And those homeless will soon own the mansions of those bastard city officials
I remember when when this happened in LA, before destroying them, they put padlocks on them and didn’t let the homeless people retrieve their belongings. So evil
They did the same thing in LA. A few celebritys started making tiny homes and the goverment steped in and destroyed the tiny homes there as well. They want things like they are.
I agree, they are making it much worse. They are letting millions of migrants in. This is diverting resources away from our homeless people. Many of the migrants are ending up homeless themselves. I leave for work around 3am. I always see 20 -30 of them sleeping up against the wall at the gas station. Evidently the government doesn't even have enough resources to find them a place to stay either.
Tbh the fact the officials refused to be interviewed is a huge sign that they did this out of maliciousness towards the homeless and not to enforce any laws.
Finland has ZERO homeless. Other states and cities are will approach Zero homeless by 2024. Residents pay according to their income and landlords get huge TAX BREAKS. Why is Vegas not doing this?
The attitude of American politicians toward homelessness mirrors their attitude toward health care. If you are rich, we will build homes...if you are not rich.....die.
Heartbreaking. Sad how the local government is more eager to enforce building codes that are a cause of homelessness than actually trying to solve homelessness.
It's too obvious that driving us all into homelessness is literally the whole plan. The government will just keep raising property taxes until the renters and homeowners are all in the same boat. They don't want anybody owning their own homes they want to make permanent renters out of all of us.
Yes, here in San Antonio, the city demolished tens of thousands of homes for “safety violations”, during the same time bigger cities were in the less than hundreds. Now there is great gentrification and those people left homeless are more vulnerable. I’m sure the head of that department is getting handsome performance bonuses that should be called what they really are, bribes.
This is how you create a slum, and eventually have a favela styled city like brazil. It might sound harsh but it’s true, no one benefiting from society wants to be living next to a favela. Favelas and slums are the exact reason why brazil is so dangerous
Las Vegas, has the money to demolish tiny homes, for the homeless, yet they don't have money to build new shelters, or provide adequate security for the shelters, or permanent beds, and flexibility for homeless people to be able to work late shifts, and come and go as they please! We have several Hotels that are not reopening, and could easily be converted to low-income housing, with social service, and medical facilities on-site. There's absolutely no reason that the Government can't buy these properties and convert them, instead of letting them be torn down!
ouch, you really hit that nail on the head there. Yeah, when I stop to think about it. That became someone's JOB - to organize and plan the demolition and file all the legal paperwork to make it happen. That was a full time job (...knowing government, it was probably like 3 people's jobs when it could've been done by a part time staffer)
Do these zoning laws allow someone to build an apartment block? This way everyone can have the square footage they need. If I had the means this is what I would do. Stack the homes on top of each other and leave lots of room for kids to play outside.
@@bumblebee4280 Depends on zoning. Since this was a single-family zone, no. You probably couldn't even get away with a duplex. However, pushing to change the zoning might be a better option, or building in an area where the zoning does allow for it.
This idea worked so well in Finland where the government set up tiny homes and a program to help the people in them to find jobs and get clean and sober. They found that by given their homeless people the security of a home, they were more able to pull themselves out of poverty and destitution. It is working exceptionally well. I honor these volunteers who are making a real effort to try to alleviate the homeless crises. Too bad the greedy officials can only think about their revenue and archaic law loopholes.
Finland is the most advanced country in the world. I just chose to buy a Nokia smartphone because it was designed in Finland ... even though it's manufactured in China (which bummed me out). But still, too bad the Finns sold out to China.
In the US, the government/politicians are the only ones who prefer to be seen as saviors/helping the community. To be seen as god. They don't want the People working together and helping eachother out. Reason why the gov/politicians constantly work on creating great division amongst the People. They don't want us United. A house divided against itself falls. If We Unite, they fall, because the Constitution is against tyranny.
@D T "Number of people" vs "Number of people" has nothing to do with the morals and values of a country, and Finland has an extremely advanced population that uses great intelligence and common sense to take care of its population.
Disgusting that city officials would rather be part of the problem and openly choose not to be part of the solution. My heart breaks for those that lost their homes and so much more because our government is 100% screwed up at every level.
If someone died in a building fire due to improper utilities or no utilities at all, then people would be wanting to sue the city for allowing them to live in them to begin with. So technically the cities can't win in that sense. They're blamed either way.
Not where I live in Springfield, MO!!! We have multiple tiny home areas…for our homeless. I have been blessed to have volunteered with our church in planting flowers and helping with general maintenance for these precious villages, the folks living there are lifting up their lives, one step at a time and our community is more than happy to walk this path with them!!

“Zoned for a single family home” became “license to destroy your belongings and leave you on the streets with no shelter.” Unsurprisingly this was done by people with no shelter issue in their own life. To what end? Their amusement? Sheer joy at harming others? I can’t imagine any other.
Interesting how illegals want to come experience this "American Dream" lmfao they storm illegally while our own are destroyed this way! Figure it out in their own country So as we can help our own!
The most sickening part of this is that they paid money to demolish those houses. Someone has a construction/demolition company and they're friends with someone on the city board.
👏🥇🏆YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT ABOUT THIS AS THAT WAS MY VERY FIRST THOUGHT ! 🏆🏅👏 I spent over 6 years dealing with the city and county officials as everything I was constructing on my acre lot in the middle of absolutely nowhere in southern Utah needed to be approved. No one could decide who would be in charge of building my home in the unincorporated area of Southern Utah where only one other home was constructed. One city official said the auxiliary structure could not be more than 25 ft from the main structure and one County official said that the Casita had to be less than 20 ft from the main structure and another official told me that the Casita could only be 33.3% the size of the main structure which were all contradicting each other. Without obtaining permits someone turn to my home into a hotel.
If you've ever been without a home, food, running water, electricity, heat; you know how much losing or gaining one of these necessary features impacts your life.
i'm so disgusted by the officials who destroyed these people's second chance. How is destroying someone's shelter, leaving them to roam the streets, for the public good?
I'm surprised they didn't mention how it's illegal to sleep on the sidewalk. As someone with a sibling on the streets of Las Vegas it's appalling that the city criminalizes their existence.
What really upsets me is that the millionaires and billionaires, especially those in the gambling and entertainment industries, who could afford to purchase and donate land and finance tiny homes, do NOTHING towards helping the homeless. It's always the middle-class folks, who are willing to volunteer their time and efforts to help the needy.
rich celebrities and millionaires prefer make donations and help other countries and pose in the press or on social networks to show their narcissistic virtue but let thousands of Americans die.
The North Las Vegas city officials refused to speak on camera. These people need to be named and exposed. They can't do this without taking responsibility.
As a city planner, I am shocked and amazed that any city code enforcement could act that quickly to bulldoze something built on one's property, meeting code or not. I also find it incomprehensible that a city wouldn't acknowledge this person's generous efforts to house people where they have failed to do so. At the very least, this should tell them they have to reexamine their Comp Plan and zoning code. It has to be way off if this treeless, moisture starved parcel of rocks and dry, bare soil is zoned single family residential. I question its habitability or suitability for building on in the first place. At the very least, it can be zoned for temporary shelters until the city leaders can get their act together and build suitable housing for everyone who needs it. Same in Atlanta and across the country.
That's the proper way sad this is its a dirt. Lot Noone really that. Close to it it's bs Vegas has so many homeless. Living in storm tunnels under the casinos and under passes its crazy I'm from NYC and phx when I moved to Vegas I was shocked there was so. Many
The government would rather have these people behind bars than giving them a fighting chance with a safe place to sleep and call home. This is heartbreaking. Hope and pray these folks get their homes back. To the gentleman who provided the land and homes....God bless you and keep you safe. ✌️💛
This needs more coverage. I hope this goes viral. Everyone needs to know who and what these politicians are. They are always talking about personal accountability, so let's see a press conference with these decision makers taking questions for the public and defending their actions.
It can be the most viral thing and nothing will change as this shit has happened numerous times before. The fact is the local govts are more than happy to spend tons of money fucking over the homeless rather than spending less money to try and elevate them and give them aid to get them back on their feet. The end result will be increased amount of homeless and increased crime.
Wow. It actually costs money to tear down and dispose those tiny homes. Smh. Shame on North Las Vegas. I'm sure some politician didn't get their kick back or a big builder wants to build a Walmart there so the politicians don't want ppl living there. They're worried about people following code but these ppl are homeless. There needs to be laws that protect homeless ppl. It's sad because the land was actually purchased so it's not like they just squatted on someone's land. The man's charity bought the land. It's sad to see that these ppl we vote into office are supposed to be our voice up on the round table and up in Washington. DC. Just think. These politicians that we vote in are supposed to be voting on things that benefit us and help our lives be easier etc. When you think about it , it's laughable. To think these snotty, bouchie politicians are fighting and arguing on our behalf is like believing in Santa Claus. They only vote for things thar benefit them, or benefit their donors. The ppl that give them tons of money are the ones that get looked out for. So regular, everyday citizens are scum and dirt on their Loui V boots to them. They could give a rats ass about their constituents. I wish I would've paid more attention to politics as I was growing up. There is no excuse for this level of tyranny against a citizen of a supposedly free country with civil rights guaranteed by the constitution. We hear so often that people need to be accountable. It's one of the first things often said about those who are homeless. And while it's true that some people just aren't willing to do the work, here is an an example of where people came together and repeatedly attacked a complex problem and each time they gained a step forward, our system put them three steps back. @cityboyzz Many times those with mental instability turn to street drugs because this country has reduced and cut funding for mental health services. So addiction often goes hand in hand with mental health issues. Long term addiction or even short term addiction can cause mental instability as well. Many times, people that use hard drugs don’t magically go back to the way they were before they used them. Nobody knows exactly what is put in street drugs so cognitive damage to the brain is fairly common. My point is that it’s hard to separate drug addiction from mental instability because unless you have been in someone’s life from birth and monitored their behavior 24/7 you don’t know which came first and they both deserve some empathy and treatment. A mentally healthy person with a good support system rarely turns to drugs to cope with life. The homeless problem becomes our problem to deal with eventually. A large portion of violent crimes can be tied to mental instability or drugs.
@cityboyzz Mentally unstable people were on the verge of getting real help via mental health institutions and progression of meds that helped people with horrific mental problems, that is until Ronnie Reagan cut the funding to mental health hospitals and clinics to help "balance the budget". I would be surprised if you are old enough to remember what that did to so many people with mental problems who were in places where they had shelter, food and professional staff to supervise. I remember it well. I remember so many being found frozen to death after being kicked out on the streets with NO place to go, were incapable of helping themselves or being independent at all. I doubt you're even old enough to understand the common thread that comes with alcohol and drug addiction. Life is hard, not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth and parents that focus on their children so they succeed as adults. I didn't come here specifically to correct you, but to say that I agree with Rick. He shows Sympathy, you do not. Good luck with that. I hope you don't need sympathy one day, only to find someone like you advocating that you receive no sympathy.
Names needs to be called out and brought to accountability. "City Officials"? Just like turning off heat in the dead of winter for lack of payment use to be allowed this response is inhumane.
I was homeless in Toronto Ontario. Leaving in a shelter is actual hell. There are people with mental health issues, drug users, violent ex-cons and bedbugs! I started looking into a tiny house because it was not that I could not afford an apartment it was that I could not get an apartment because there are no vacancies. I found out that Ontario does not allow tiny houses. Your house has to be over 1,200 square feet. It is insane. Because there are apartments in Toronto that are smaller than 1,200 square feet. So I can rent a 700 square ft apartment for $2,000 a month but I cannot build a 700 square ft tiny home that will be mine for $15,000. And our politicians think that that is okay. They're not discussing the housing crisis. Even though our Parks have turned into a tent city.
@@Myspace1986 So how many homeless are actually able to build one? I dont know about Canada, but that doesn't exactly work in places like California, New York, Michigan.. or in other cities. Working people are forced to live in cars because rent is beyond what they earn for a living. All these "tent" cities are forced to move, but nothing is offered to them to relocate to. What is the plan? Concentration camps? ooops.. I meant detention centers.
@@Myspace1986 That is what they say, however citizens have been mislead. There was a young Carpenter named Khaleel Seivwright who was building tiny homes for the homeless in the city according to the required Sq and building Codes. Mayor Tory interjected himself with some Toronto City Councilors and put a stop to it all. This guy has been trying to fight it. These Politicians lie out of their asses, or find loopholes to regulate and oppress the same liberties they claim to approve. Meanwhile, Toronto has a housing crisis. There are not enough rental properties available for those who can afford it, and as for those who are low income, or cannot there is a a waitlist of 100 000+ for public housing.
It's all about money. Tiny house ppl aren't going to pay the taxes or need the services that big house ppl pay and need. And Govt wants you as trapped by the system as they can get you.
So let me get this straight, city council took their sweet time passing laws and approving this build but didn't blink twice to tear it down? How dare they! Normally I wouldn't wish this kind of life on anyone but it my sincerest hope that these politicians get a taste of what it's like to have to live on the streets. Hopefully people will wake up and start voting these scumbags right off their political thrones.
The cool 😎 thing is when these politicians own children, grandchildren, nieces & nephews become chemically addicted & develop mental health issues. These actions come with ancient curses until people's eyes are open to the truth.

It's not in the best interest of the politicians, social workers, addiction counsellors and administrators that run the state owned homeless shelters to develop a viable solution to poverty and homelessness. It's big business and their jobs that are usually paid for by the taxpayer depend on the steady supply of homeless poor people and addicts to keep them employed. Joseph Lankowski is doing his best to help people in need. His time, energy, effort and money does not go unnoticed. Yet the officials have the audacity to throw it all away. Many homeless people suffer from mental and / or physical illness; often caused by childhood, teen or young adult trauma. The government and insurance companies do not offer affordable mental / health care. Communities should be coming together for the greater good, not demolishing each other. Officials should be showing a positive example.

The new lords of land, ( the same ones who caused the 2008 evilness) don't want anyone to have a home unless they pay everything they make in rent. It is the new slavery. Meanwhile they're criminalizing homelessness and the 13th amendment gives them slaves.
It appears that they were given notice in January to move out. It was a valiant effort by Mr Iankowski, yet again thwarted by a technicality(a primary structure built on that plot of land must be a 1200sqft single family home). He took a gamble, hoping to ask for forgiveness instead of permission, and it didn't pan out. It might have worked, if it was further outside of town, but their makeshift pallet gate grabbed the attention of a city inspector. Just pure misfortune that they got flagged.
That construction company needs to be boycotted and the corrupt government needs to be investigated, and when they are found to be skimming money, should get some serious prison time. As we know they are too powerful to be touched. California is the same way. Done the same thing. I wish the nation could come together and throw every one corrupt out of office.
Note: aware of the typos, apologies. Not untrue but you're over generalizing and over simplifying. Some people like my sister-in-law outright choose to be homeless, although I wouldn't be surprised to find out she lacks the cognitive ability to understand the gravity of her circumstances and make appropriate responsible decisions. Others end up with a crappy situation they have little to no control over. When my husband and I had tk sleep in our car for a month out hear in 2021 my mother in law lost her mind and drove us out of her mother's home. We had no one else to turn to and his grandmother just let her do it... leading to being jailed for trespassing in a park whose gates were fully open and no signs posted anywhere to let anyone know it closed at a certain time or at all. Leading to being fired from my job of 10 years as a DSP in a healthcare facility. Leading to fines I can't afford, a warrant I can't pay, and now not being able to get a job because of said warrants and fines. Now I have a warrant on my name so i can't go anywhere without fearing I'll be harassed by police for whatever and ang reason. Thats my current hell because of a dysfunctional family home and having to use the bathroom late night and not having no choice but to use a public restroom after I get off of work at 12am. This story will gain international media coverage and I hope that moving forward solid, safe, and most importantly expedient housing solutions will be once again rebuilt for these most vulnerable homeless citizens in your community.
It is cruel. It’s also despicable. They take federal money for “dealing” with the homeless, but what are they doing? Nothing. It’s not hard to change the zoning. Jerks!
True, but like every homeowner who works very hard to make sure they are safe and secure, they also don’t want their property values to plummet because 6blocks away is a growing homeless encampment filled with junkies and crime who use the systems handouts like they do one another. And would jump at an opportunity to sue someone who appears to have means. Not in my neighborhood isn’t a phrase that means nothing. I sure as hell feel bad for these people but they often are not victims but architects of their own situation.
So someone comes up with a plan to really help the homeless situation and it is just crushed. What a cruel thing to do, with the destroyers of the tiny homes bulldozing personal property along with the tiny homes. This is quite shameful!
Not even that. Someone comes up with a plan, and it's crushed. Then they come up with another plan, and it gets towed. Then they come up with *another* plan, and that also gets crushed, in the name of a law that has an expiration date. It could be understandable for a city to be caught off guard by grassroots movements, overreact, then try to work with those movements in a way the city is comfortable with, but at this point they're solidly in opposition to doing something. They're probably banking on the cheapest "solution", which is to be so callous and cruel that the unhoused just leave.
What really disturbs me is that these people had a chance to bounce back and get their lives back. Now they have nothing once again. Being kicked back down. What a shame. Instead of having a heart those officials would rather keep their own citizens down.
This is so sad! What harm would it have been to just allow the tiny homes to stay on the land? Great intentions to the Man who tried and continues to try to build homes for the homeless! God sees your good works and I am sure that you will be rewarded in the afterlife!

I was told by several different individuals that I would never be permitted to live in the home that I built with my own cash because I did not have a husband and I was not baptized by the Mormon cult. There is a reason why cities have requirements on how big the house is supposed to be. They want to be able to suck as much property tax out of you. Poor people are caught on a catch 22. I should be able to buy a empty lot and install one of those Home Depot garage into a home
It's called Zoning Laws and they have them for a reason. It's to protect you, don't be stupid! It's there to protect you so a corporation can't just build a manufacturing business in a residential neighborhood and the reverse goes for an individual, so he can't just place a home in a business park!
Governments are actively trying to push away people from what is left of that aquafer so the dams can be torn down in collusion with their depopulation agenda.
That is 100% wrong. You want the benefits of living in a city with services, there are rules and laws that you have to abide by. Zoning bylaws being one of them - and they are in place for many reasons, with none of them being its sole purpose to raise property taxes. You just focus in on that because clearly you have skewed view of how the municipalities actually work. Please do everyone here a favour and educate yourself before commenting again on something you know literally know nothing about.

By bureaucrats you mean people who work hard for a living pay taxes and contribute to the society in which they live yeah what scum and sorry people who remain on the street are the ones that refuse to live by any rules there are shelters and hostile systems available for them they choose not to use them because God forbid anybody should require a certain level of Conformity out of them they've made themselves the amusement
He'll probably end up in hell. God hates those who oppress the poor and helpless. He said so repeatedly,.

Against tiny homes.

Yes, here in San Antonio, the city demolished tens of thousands of homes for “safety violations”, during the same time bigger cities were in the less than hundreds. Now there is great gentrification and those people left homeless are more vulnerable.
Yes...Sonja. Same here in Idaho.

ouch, you really hit that nail on the head there.
America isn't Finland and its people aren't like Fins. Meaning you can give them a home here, they don't want it. They want drugs and the street.

Thank you New Leaf and thank you Joseph lankowski, thank you to any and all who are helping. Thank you to the newscasters for giving this story a chance. It's a shame that they were not given a heads up and just told to move these tiny homes so they could have at least not been destroyed, they were simple and not a lot of money when into them but that is still expensive and you can best believe it added up.
Whatever official or officials gave the orders for this to be done there is a special place in hell. It's a tiny little Cube and each one of you will have your own, you're going to get to see what it's like to have to live in a tiny little box but yours is going to be much more tinier and much more hotter. That's what hell is, it's a bunch of little cubes with people who have already gone to hell stuffed in these tiny little boxes, little cubes. Hitler lives in one of these. IDK How much they paid the person operating that crane, or what their job position was there's no way in hell anyone could have ever made me do this to these homeless people. Shame Shame Shame. You're going to get your karma.
Yes it saddens my heart
That construction company needs to be boycotted and the corrupt government needs to be investigated, and when they are found to be skimming money, should get some serious prison time. As we know they are too powerful to be touched. California is the same way. Done the same thing. I wish the nation could come together and throw every one corrupt out of office.
You couldn't pay me enough either. This is satan's work.
Homelessness is usually the result of bad choices. Prayers for all the people affected. I can’t imagine the hopelessness.
Bur ya know, I have a record so my existence is worthless now and I deserve the bs I have to go through because of it. Not just me but my husband and my newborn son are effected as well so.. maybe you personally don't think that way but ive met plenty who do.
Darcy, you and your team deserve an Emmy for this series. Thank you for shining a light on the bureaucratic and inhumane travesties and injustices committed by the city of North Las Vegas.

@@STV-H4H it's a desert.
They do take in millions to help the homeless. They take those millions and hire and army "police" to battle the people not help them.
@@STV-H4H in part that is very true. If they were not encouraged by our own government it would be a different story.
@@STV-H4H I think the dwindling water supply will do more damage to Vegas home values than a few decent looking sheds in an otherwise empty lot.
They don't want to fix the problem. They get money to think about fixing it. They are out of a job if they actually fix it
A few years ago, I would say this couldn't be happening in the United States. What happened ??
Yep because they need desperate people to stay in power
you need city EPA & code approval for everything or they come fine and destroy
What really disturbs me is that these people had a chance to bounce back and get their lives back. Now they have nothing once again. Being kicked back down. What a shame. Instead of having a heart those officials would rather keep their own citizens down.
This is so sad! What harm would it have been to just allow the tiny homes to stay on the land? Great intentions to the Man who tried and continues to try to build homes for the homeless! God sees your good works and I am sure that you will be rewarded in the afterlife!
read the Bible acount of Lazarus and the rich man,I believe the mean greedy people will go to hell, Jesus said "what you do to the least of mine, you do to me"
I believe that those who do good will be blessed
Especially since none of its neighbors seem to mind or complain. Blind bureaucracy. And what would it have hurt to remove their meager belongings to some boxes or bags or at least to another area in a neat pile, really can’t understand the inhumanity
I'm willing to bet that a real estate developer will soon arrive...
probably fear of lawsuit if something went wrong and fear of personal repercussions for the city planning members who ultimately were responsible for deciding yes or no.
This is heartbreaking, but I'm so grateful that this was covered. Please provide ways for people to speak out and contribute.
The people shouldn't have to pay the government and do the governments job. They need to get tf out of my country. I served for nothing. For tyrannists to dictate the lives of innocents using mental gymnastics and leveraging a million laws to their advantage even when the accused are hurting nobody. It's fucking next to impossible for an ordinary citizen to live anywhere in Cali and this is a massive problem.
its a sad day when you cant even live in a tiny house in the middle of the desert without bureaucrats destroying your home because its not big enough.
Who gives them the right? That is destruction of property. They didn't even let them take their stuff out. Its disgusting, have some human decency
When you try to be the better person in this world and they smash you back into the pavement. I'm sorry to the organization operator and the people who lost their homes. Anybody who complains about homeless this shows your ignorance towards how trying to help is shot in the knee by some beauracrat
I agree 100%. Some of the comments on this video are so cruel it actually has me in tears. I cannot believe we live in a world so full of hatred. People without homes are people. They have hopes and dreams like we all do. Imagine what love and kindness could do to help these people...oh wait, those tiny homes were built from love and kindness, but this country is highly against those things. I lived in Vegas for 2 years and was aghast at the sheer numbers of homeless people I saw there. In a city that creates so much revenue off of the millions that come to that city, the city can afford to do something to help provide housing for the people and a hand up. It's sickening to see such a lack of empathy in our city leadership.
Pretty much all major cities have a homeless crisis, some my do a better job at hiding it then others.

It’s about money people. The wealthy who make money on mobile homes for poor people don’t want competition. Tiny homes are competition.
The way we treat our fellow human beings is absolutely disgusting. Heartless, soulless, greedy society.
Just the fact alone that they were not allowed to get their personal belongings or have notice of demolition is cruel and unusual punishment. With no other options, they could have temporarily postponed this so communications/conversations could have happened to try to find solutions. This is just terrible. God bless this man who is attempting to help out these homeless Americans. I would love to see the people responsible spend the night out on the streets including sleeping on the hard ground on a cold and rainy night.

God supposedly made everything. That means he also made the people who are responsible the Vietnam war, the Nayirah testimony, mass surveillance, poverty, biological warfare. He made all the parameters that define our reality. And this is our reality. I can think of a better world, a better society and I'm just a mere human, so why can't he? People argue that shit's just soooo much more rewarding when shit can actually potentially go sideways at all times. Thank you KTNV and Darcy for your coverage on this VITALLY CRUCIAL STORY. 🏆 The city officials who were responsible for yet again, committing such atrocities against these citizens MUST EACH BE FINED and Compensation given to the New Leaf group. I find it unconscionable that rather than assisting these efforts to house the homeless, they CHOSE to DESTROY the ONLY HOPE that these unfortunate individuals had of having a "makeshift" roof over their head. 😡🤬 I hope that the people who were involved in the demolition of these and the ticketing and towing of them ends up homeless in very short order. 😤 I have been in the New Home building business for over 25 years and it takes eons to get a "City Official" to even review a permit, an inspection, complaint or any document and then completing the necessary documents and then reviewing them at the weekly board meetings. I can bet you 100 million dollars that the NECESSARY DOCUMENTS to DEMOLISH these structures on a PRIVATELY OWNED PIECE OF PROPERTY WAS NOT EVEN SIGNED ✍ OFF NOR APPROVED BY A JUDGE IN COURT!!! 👊✍ The SHORTEST TIME PERIOD FOR ANY LEGAL ACTION IN CONSTRUCTION/EVICTION IS THIRTY (30) DAYS. I built my first home in Irvine, California in 1986-1987. Spent MANY YEARS 40 + in CONSTRUCTION & FINANCE. I built my last home in severely Mormon bureaucratic Southern Utah from 2011 - 2016. I was told by several different individuals that I would never be permitted to live in the home that I built with my own cash because I did not have a husband and I was not baptized by the Mormon cult. So I do have my fair amount of experience dealing with individuals who will do anything in their power to make sure you do not eat live or breathe in their state because you do not need a man for nor can I provide all of those people with the amount of elicit drugs that they wanted. I am currently in Vegas and I will attempt to reach out t o this New Leaf to ask if I can be of assistance in some way. In the very least I can design a 1200 square foot structure where they could provide a decent facility for these people to get meals and showered. All I can say is shame Shame Shame Shame on those people for not helping this man attempting to help these people in need.
I was homeless many years ago, and having a tiny house like these would have made all the difference in the world.

There is a reason why cities have requirements on how big the house is supposed to be. They want to be able to suck as much property tax out of you. Poor people are caught on a catch 22. I should be able to buy a empty lot and install one of those Home Depot garage into a home
Exactly
It's called Zoning Laws and they have them for a reason. It's to protect you, don't be stupid! It's there to protect you so a corporation can't just build a manufacturing business in a residential neighborhood and the reverse goes for an individual, so he can't just place a home in a business park!
You must think you live in a FREE country. LOL
The lack of empathy by these officials is disgusting. Shame on them.
Pray they don't ever find themselves in these dire straits. Homelessness can happen in a twinkle of an eye
Sadly this has been going on for years, 5+ years ago there was another guy who build homeless shelters where they also took them away. Iirc the reason that time was that the mini houses were an eyesore.
