I'm back!! So happy to be back to filming. Make sure to watch the entire video of my double jaw surgery experience to see the full story. I still have swelling and numbness to go. It's a bit personal to share all of this, but I really wanted to get my story out there to help others that will be going through with the surgery. I got this 3 days ago. You were so right with what you said. Not much pain, but sleepless nights, the feeling of not being able to do anything, the swollen face is literally the worst part. I'll get to leave the hospital tomorrow 😍 Never take anything for granted. Although this surgery is not like the worst thing that can happen (for example cancer) it really gave me like a little bit of mental problems. But I'm looking forward :)
I have an undeveloped jaw too and I never realized it had something to do with me being a mouth breather I’ve been a mouth breather my entire
life.
I'm not familiar with this surgery, but give you major props for sharing as much as you did. I'm sure others going through it will find it very informational. I've had surgeries before and completely understand the terrific feeling afterward and how much of a true life changer it can be. So congrats, man!
I did this surgery 3 years ago, this video definitely brought back flashbacks. I remember how hard it was, and I felt that after not speaking for at least a week and feeling so weak that my mind would feel like it opened up. I say the best is still yet to come for you though! Getting all your feeling back in your face, working hard to just feel your facial muscles move again will make you feel so grateful for each muscle that comes back to life in your face. The moment after I was finally cleared to start eating better foods again was one of the best ever. I know you’ll lose a lot of weight still, but it really is a life changing surgery and thank you for making this video too! I was so happy that all these problems where gone, so I cried an hour of pure tears of joi.

I just met with my surgeon today. I'm excited about having the surgery done. It probably won't be for another 6 months to a year but I'm counting the days. Thanks for the videos they helped answer a lot of questions I had in my head that I forgot to ask the surgeon.

Just had my surgery on Monday and had complications and finally got out of the hospital yesterday. This video was super helpful, it is good to see how better you can take at that 4 week mark.

Knowing that this video on week 4 makes me feel so so much better. I am starting treatment for my underbite and I just got braces. In about 9 months o need surgery similar to yours, and I was so afraid I wouldn't even be able to talk right for months after. Knowing that you are already decently healed at 4 weeks, considering the circumstances of course, makes me feel better.

4 days before I undergo the exact same procedure myself and honestly man you have no idea how much your detailed accounts of your experience have helped me to mentally prepare for what to expect. Can only hope my results look as good as yours!

You did a great job on explaining your surgery and the total experience. I had a nasal surgery this past winter that corrected some problems from a car accident and I could relate to some of what you were saying. I'm really glad this worked out for you. Know you'll have much more good days now than bad, but still take it easy. Best of luck!

Hello! I really enjoyed this video because I'm receiving Reconstruction Jaw surgery in four days. My upper jaw is underdeveloped like yours, and my lower is over developed. The added part of my surgery is that they're removing a piece of bone from my hip to widen my upper jaw. I've been looking forward to this surgery for three years now, but the closer I'm getting to the date, the more terrified I feel!
Watching your video, with your explanation of how your jaw looked and breathing through your nose was unbelievably relatable. Thank you for posting this video. It really prepared me for what may come from my recovery.

im an or nurse and i already assisted with this kind surgery... good luck to your recovery.. i felt happy after assisting with this kind of surgery because it will change their life a lot after. you can never imagine how much trays of instruments we use for this.
To be honest i never really noticed this before this video, but looking afterwards you look even more awesome. I can't even imagine how good it feels to breath trough your nose and so. I'm really glad that you managed to go trough this!

Crazy, I had the same issues you had prior to surgery. I’m 4 days into recovery and I’m still rewatching your videos because I’m so excited to see my results!

@@RP_101 Yeah everything is good! I have a little bit of glue left from the surgical braces on my molar because my jaw was still healing when they tried to remove it, but that’s it. Very very happy and appreciative of the results, especially harder seeing old pictures of me compared to now.

Having the same surgery some time next year (had my braces almost 11 months), Stuff like this both scares me, but really helps since you're the first person I've seen having the same surgery (for underdeveloped upper jaw and underbite) so this is great to see!

Bro, Jair, I've been watching you since practically the beginning of your yt journey and I never noticed how severe your underbite (is that what you had?) was.The contrast really puts it into perspective. You look great! And you must feel great, too. Not only physically, but emotionally. Because, you might have not of known how much your condition hindered you in your daily life. It's nice to hear about your experience and what you had to go through.
Btw I'm an orthodontist now, and I also worked alongside with oral surgeons on a few orthognathic surgeries during my residency.
Your braces will come off soon....hang in there!
You are right about needing a good support group. I didn't and ended up in the hospital after being left alone. After double jaw surgery the car that took me home had no air conditioning. The heat caused swelling,which prevented breathing. I could not speak. I had to text a friend who called an ambulance for me. If your planning this, or another major surgery, it's best to arrange to have attentive, carring people stay with you until you hydrate adequately and communicate effectively. The good part is the surgery is worth it.
I actually don't know why this came on my recommended videos, because I've actually been thinking about this surgery for a long time but haven't looked up any videos related to it! I have a maligned jaw and an overbite, I was told by my dentist that getting braces would actually make it more difficult for me, so I also have very crooked teeth. I honestly just hate everything to do with my mouth, not to mention the pain, the muscle spasms, lock jaw, indigestion, the horrible clicking noise it makes every time I eat, the headaches that it causes, but I don't know how I would feel about an invasive procedure like this. However, watching your video and seeing that even 4 weeks post op, you were doing so much better, has made me consider it strongly, and I think I'm going to call my doctor about getting a referral to a maxfax surgeon to see if we can get it done.
