Hi everyone!! I'm reading through your comments and I just want to thank you all so much, hearing your different perspectives has helped me SO much. I am still extremely unhappy with the results and I've been really sad for months, hence I haven't been active on here. I have a ton of videos and updates for you, but I am not doing well and I feel bad sharing about such a negative experience. I'll upload all the vids I have on my next day off, but just a warning I've been super depressed over this lol. Current update: My doctor is still certain that all is meticulous despite me continuing to share my concerns. I consulted with another surgeon, got new cbct scans (he saw the issues right away) and and I will be going forward with a revision surgery. I was really happy w the surgeon I met with and I will most likely be going w him, but I would love to get multiple opinions since this is a huge decision for me and I want to be absolutely sure of everything. Consults are very expensive so I'm not able to do more than a few, so I want the ones I do to be with the best of the best. If you have any surgeon recommendations, especially for jaw surgery revisions, please let me know!!! trying to respond to all of these rn but there are so many... I've read them all and you have all been so helpful whether you agree w me or not❤ I'll share the revision process w you guys too, trying my best to stay positive and I know things will get better for me eventually.
Dr. Steven Sullivan in Oklahoma City, he does a lot of complex revisions and TMJ cases, he does around 160 cases a year and I believe has ~30 years of experience. Hope this helps!
I agree with everyone about nerve/muscle damage. Even your brows have changed and the one isn’t moving much. You’re not crazy! We see what you’re seeing
Doctors will literally gaslight you its fucked. They take advantage of the fact that they're an authority figure and that most people will trust what they say.
May not be from the surgery. There is overwhelming evidence that the covid vaccine can cause Bell's Palsy to a large swath of the population. Hopefully it corrected itself, since it's been 2 years from this video.

@@enriquesuarez7113 No, and I'm so glad I didn't. I got braces, so now I have nice straight teeth, but the slight underbite remains. Mine is about the same as Rachel's was pre-surgery. I couldn't go through with it after seeing the drastic change in Rachel's appearance and how unhappy she was. I hope she is doing okay.
@@JessicaCondon5 Holly crap, I am in the exact same situation as you. Perfect straight teeth and only a slight edge to edge underbite. I was going to do it and then my ortho told me I need to remove my healthy well-erupted wisdom teeth in order to do the surgery. Me not wanting to remove 4 healthy teeth and now this video is making me reconsider even doing the surgery in the first place.
@@enriquesuarez7113 It just doesn't seem worth it, unless your bite was so bad that it was difficult to chew or it was damaging your teeth. I'm sure some people have a positive result, but I just couldn't risk it! What Rachel experienced is truly life altering.
As a practicing orthodontist, your concerns are extremely valid. You had facial asymmetry before surgery as well but it was exaggerated by the poor surgical plan. They also didnt settle your bite well. They left it in Class II
So commit suicide is only option? Why didn't the surgeon warn her about psychological issue that could occur and made sure that her current condition was definitely unfunctional before recommending surgery? Is it to line his own pockets?
This looks more like a muscular/ nerve issue due to the surgery than an actual midline issue, although I do see the deviation to the right. But it looks like the muscles on your left side haven’t regained full movement while the right side has, so it looks like everything if shifted to the right when you move your face to talk. This is usually do to the nerves being disrupted during the surgery and it can take MONTHS for full nerve function to return. I would wait a few more months to see if this improves before you go back for another surgery with anyone, but that’s just my opinion. I def think you don’t need to be walking around with a mask all the time though. I know it seems bad to you because you’re used to how your face used to look, but I guarantee nobody is going to notice or focus on your face being slightly shifted. You’re beautiful, you look normal. Don’t shave your teeth, don’t get more orthodontics, don’t do anything with your nose. None of these things will fix the slight asymmetry with your face and may actually cause even more issues that will make you more unhappy. If anything, just do a consult with a plastic surgeon ( for free) to see what your options are if you ever want to pursue it in the future.
I agree with Marlene Glebocki! I recently had upper and lower jaw surgery and my surgeon talked about how muscles in your face take awhile to either shrink or grow depending on how old you are and how long you've had an under/overbite for. He explained that for 25 years of having an underbite I grew muscles in my chin where I shouldn't have and it'll take awhile for my chin muscle to go away. It's little things like that , that make it worth talking to multiple maxillofacial surgeons or plastic surgeons. Just do your research and be patient! I think you look great btw! But I understand what you're seeing as well! All the best :)
Completely agree. It is easily noticeable if you watch her eyebrows, lips, cheeks, and facial muscles and compare the two sides. It would be way harder to notice a 1mm difference from the video, but the facial unresponsiveness and slight droop make themselves more apparent, especially on video. Hoping she gets some solutions or consultation on this front!
I agree with the above. I also dont think it's nerve damage, I think it is that the muscles on the left side of. your face have less strength than the right side and therefore are not pulling your mouth to a central position. I would study facial exercises. There are many online ways to learn them. If that does not bring the mouth to a natural central position, then see a Plastic Surgeon about having a lift to the muscles on the left side. I definitely think you can let go of the idea of continuing with the surgeon who did your work. I think it is quite possible that they did a good job with the structural work. Perhaps he cant shift to considering the possibility that this is a muscular weakness. You could also have a consult with a physiotherapist or an Osteopath. But, I feel strongly you have a foundation of good work with your bones and now just need some refinement to strengthen the muscles on the left side. There is also a mouth exerciser you can buy to build muscle strength. I hope this helps a little to give you some ideas that will refine your results to perfect. I feel that perfect is a very possible goal once you find a way to strengthen that side of your face. Google face exercises. :) If you really look closely at how your face moves, the area paralel with the side of your mouth and just under is wider and does not move when you speak. The muscle there seems weak and it is causing the section between your mouth and under on that side to be wider than it is on the other side. If exercises dont fix it,.....and I think they might.....that area could be lifted by a procedure like a mini lower face lift just on that side, which could be done with a small incision and muscle suturing up towards the lowest part of your ear, or perhaps a thread lift just there.
Well said, I agree. Though that graft he did to your nose... It's completely changed. It looks like a slight trauma shock reaction though this is only noticeable to me because of your before photos. If I saw you on the street, I wouldn't think anything of it. I am sorry you feel this way and hope soon you get to move on 😘
i’m so sorry you’re going through this. my pre surgery face looks like how your face looks now and that’s exactly why i need jaw surgery so i feel you sis 😭 went to see a private surgeon last week who totally invalidated my issue and made me feel like i was mentally unstable and there was so no real issue at all when the lopsidedness is literally in plain sight :/ awfully disheartening. hope you’ve been able to resolve your issue ❤️
Girl you are not overanalysing! You do look amazing but I can definitely see what you’re saying, I think it’s nerve damage on the right side of your face as it doesn’t move as much when you talk. If you know something is wrong don’t take no for an answer! It’s your face at the end of the day and you know yourself more than anyone, talk to someone about what you can do and don’t go back to that surgeon! Keep us updated xx
Girl please don’t be embarrassed to share how you’re feeling, your feelings are completely valid. I recently had ear surgery I’m not happy with and going through the same mental and physical process. I know jaw surgery is different but the way you’re feeling you are not alone. I’m really sorry you’re going through this! I know it sucks, everyone tells you it looks fine but all you can see is the things others can’t and wish you could turn back time. As an outsider, I think you are still just as gorgeous as you were before but I wish you the best of luck for the future with whatever you decided. Your concerns are completely valid. Your composure towards your doctor speaks volumes to your character. If I were in your shoes, I don't know if I could act as respectful as you have been to everyone ignoring what is in plain sight (comparing your pre-surgery self from your first video) I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. If this happened to me, I would probably look into plastic surgery. I feel like they would actually acknowledge and address your concerns a lot more than your doctor and orthodontist have. Whatever you've decided, I hope you're feeling better and end up happy with the end result because you deserve it.

I definitely think that the slanted position of your mouth might have something to do with nerve damage or uneven muscle functioning. I am grateful that you are sharing this as I know that you are having a really hard time yourself. However, I don't think you should get a nose job or make changes to your nose, at least for the time being. I think your body image and self-perception may be distorted due to all the traumatic events you just had to go through, so I hope that you can give yourself a little more time and love before you decide that another change on your face is truly the best option. I believe in you wholeheartedly
Also, I know that no matter what I say, your perception of yourself is the ultimate influencer. However, from a third pov, I genuinely think your overall face shape looks more harmonious and balanced. Your face shifted from an oblong shape to more of an oval shape, and I also think your eyes stand out more now. I do think your mouth is slightly slanted but I only notice it when you speak so I do personally believe that it is not a bone structure issue, but rather something like a face muscle issue.
It’s not nerve damage. I’m getting jaw surgery to correct the mid line of my upper jaw, because my ortho messed it up when I was younger. That said, because my mid line isn’t in the center, my enter mouth moves to the side the same way hers does. And since I haven’t had surgery yet, it goes to show how the mid line of your jaw can slant your mouth if it’s not placed in the center. I pray she gets this fixed. She’s still gorgeous though, regardless. ❤️
@@onetruth3703 i actually also had the surgery to correct my midline and bite, and although my midline is technically supposed to be correct after the surgery, I had a bit of nerve damage and residual numbness on one side of my face (I had surgery 9 months ago) so my face is still pretty assymetrical even after the surgery and the corrected bite. So i think it’s a very tricky issue because numbness and nerve damage are really difficult to foresee.
I'm so sorry this happened to you. You're not doing anything wrong by speaking out, you have every right to share your concerns until you're completely happy. Definitely get as many as many opinions are you can. Blessings to you and I hope you get the result you desire and deserve.

Girl it's your face and money and you're the one who has to love it. He shouldn't be posting anything without your consent either. This whole thing sounds like a legal issue and he sounds like a bully. I also saw his IG post months ago about your case when I was about to go through my jaw surgery and searching for jaw surgery vlogs and IG accounts of surgeons. His take on the symmetry is bs. @@Batrnabmjhhhh I'm sure I once heard from someone who deals with surgeons that the worst ones are maxfax ones. I've met 5 I think, at least two were horrendous. Sadly I found that out too late with one of them, after the damage to me was already done.
@@BodyOpt I have lasting nerve damage from Jaw Surgery 8 years ago which turned my life around to a not so pleasant extend. I am still dealing with the troubles of it, but the pain I experienced (which was crippling) subsided. I had similaraesthetic problems like the girl in the video, but my doctor could fix at least the part of looking paralyzed (which led to the pain though). I went to one of the best doctors in the world and paid over 100K for my surgery, then had to hear from people how I should just have chosen a better doctor or if I was too poor to afford a good one. When I tried to fix the pain, I consulted with maybe 12 Maxillofacial Ds all over the world. I have never met more stupid, brainwashed and horrific entitled personalities to be honest. Most of them are also not aesthetically trained and will only consider functionality. I have never felt more judged and belittled although I looked very good in the end. The last doctor I chose made a wonderful impression as a kind, lovely human being. I almost died at their clinic because I couldn't breathe after their general anesthesia. They strapped me to the bed because I became aggressive when I couldn't breathe and I fainted. I only wanted to lift my upper body because my nose was full of blood and they wouldn't let me. After this surgery I developed a 2 year cough, burning mouth syndrome and new lip paralysis. The doctor didn't stick to the plan we discussed at the beginning which was replacing facial implants he removed at the same time- he tried to ghost me and acted horribly. He let me wait 8 weeks for a implant design that looked like from a 5 year old, then cancelled the surgery because I criticized it.The kind person was suddenly gone, and left was a guy who was trying hard to keep up his image. His main concern was what his employees would think of him. I should have been worried about how much he admired and defended my first doctor - he once even told me my pain was psychological. Nevertheless, I have made peace with the situation, the pain is gone which was the worst to bear - but I have asymmetry again and my lip moves funny when I talk (which can be fixed with Botox though).
I had jaw surgery done in the ‘90s, both upper and lower jaw as well. I’m no doctor, but to me, it looks like the nerves on one side aren’t fully healed - I had that same problem. It does get better. The nerve ending take the longest to heal - but that was in the 90s, I don’t know if things have changed since. Regardless, I think you look amazing. ♥️ It took a long time for me to be okay with my new face. I feel your pain.
There is no difference between Nerves in 90's and Nerves in 2022. Nerves are erratic and moody. It takes too long for it heal. it heals if it heals otherwise doesn't.
I did not ho through that as here in germany it's not recommendet in general (too much that can go wrong) but I agree that it looks like some of her muscles are not working the way they should which could still change with time (no Update so idk) or she could try to do botox to even it out (especially the Brows as a lot of that asymetry is caused by them)

hi Rach, thanks for being brave enough to do this. I had jaw surgery 2 years ago with the same results you have. I never smile anymore and hate looking in the mirror, it feels like the carefree, happy life I had is gone. I've been to a couple of surgeons to discuss a revision and they both won't do it because of my breathing issues, so I'm stuck with it. I'm wishing you good things and fingers crossed, I hope that you find someone to help you with this.
Thank you for the update! We have similar before features and no one had ever mentioned jaw surgery until I was 40. I’ve been asked to model and participate in beauty pageants but a surgeon was the one to note my “deformity”, lol. I did an obsessive amount of research and as much as I wanted to go for it, I knew that I may not be happy with the results. I talked to my surgeon about nose changes and he said the alar stitch may not hold or prevent things all that much. Also, being older I didn’t want to also deal with sagging skin. I understand what you are talking about being unhappy but these surgeons mainly deal with the function of the jaw. I would probably get nose consultations as the plastic surgeons will optimize the aesthetic balance of the face. Most stellar after photos from Asia included a nose job. I opted not to do the surgery but there are regrets with that too. “What if’s” will haunt me and I will always be somewhat insecure with my profile. I think your after results are a net positive improvement even though you see things differently. I would probably feel the same given that a certain level of satisfaction is expected after the entire process. You are valid in your concerns but try to live your life and put concerns on a shelf, address things as part of the process. You are a beautiful girl and appreciate your perspective.

I find it very alarming that surgeons always blame the swelling when, in reality, swelling hides a lot of issues. No, you are not crazy. I commend you for going through something like this. I consider you a very brave and strong person. I myself is in my 30s and overnight. My jaw or chin receded. And it's a very devastating thing to look in the mirror and not notice yourself. And and it's even harder to consider surgery. Seeing the commitment that it takes to go do it. i can definitely see what you are talking about. your surgeon needs to admit that there may have been some relapse or a shift because your midline looks off. i am getting jaw surgery in a year and i find your videos really helpful! you should really push for a revision surgery or reach out to the medical board or something...
Hi Rachel, thank you so much for sharing. In my home country a group therapy is offered after DJS, as it is a very difficult experience. So please be kind to yourself. I think your concerns are valid, even though I also recognize there are improvements, just as you talked about. If you will feel up for it, it would be nice to hear an update from you, even negative, since this is how life is, not always positive. First of all, you’re a beautiful girl. You are not crazy or over exaggerating. You should be happy with your results and happy with your face and smile. I’m surprised at how nice youve been to him via email because I wouldn’t have been! I think you’re so strong and I’m glad you’re expressing your opinions with this doctor. Im sorry he’s not taking you seriously - it really sounds like just another doctor being a doctor for the prestige, not because he cares about his patients. Please know that we stand with you and ultimately want you to be happy with your pretty face!

Hi Rach! I totally understand you and I am going through a similar situation... I am on my 3 month post op so I need to wait some months before judging end results but I am pretty sure I am going to see another surgeon to talk about a possible revision. At the end you are the only one who needs to be happy about your results, so try to hold you onto yourself, if you feel something is wrong then it is, no matter what other people tell you. I would def get other surgeons opinions on your case. Keep strong, there is always a solution to be found.
No. Revision means getting it fixed and aligned as to make it symmetrical. It's redoing a Jaw surgery in order to get ideal facial harmony. @@akasais2950
Hi Rachel! Thank you so much for posting this, you just made me feel validated in an immense way. It’s like you took the thoughts out of my mind with everything you said you were feeling. It’s 4 am were I live, I was desperately googling cases of regrets after jaw surgery because I was also feeling crazy for having all these similar thoughts and feelings since my family tells me I look fine and invalidate my feelings and came across your video. I want you to know that I’m so sorry you’re also going through this and that I understand you. You’re not crazy or wrong at all. A lot of the things you pointed out in your after pictures I see it in myself too. It’s been 8 months since my double jaw surgery and I’m in a deep depression because I also hate the way I look now. I’ve been carrying with this burden every second of every day since the swelling started to go away because I’ve never hated my appearance more and no one seems to understand. I was pretty happy with my looks before the surgery and never had any major trouble with my jaw besides the fact that my bite didn’t close completely (no pain, no headaches, no trouble chewing) but I’ve had braces for several years multiple times and my dentist and my doctor told me I needed this surgery. It took me 7 years to go thorough it and having it it’s currently the biggest regret of my life. Now my jaw hurts all the time, I have trouble chewing to the point were I’ve stopped eating certain foods because the pain it’s too much, I have trouble sleeping and I can’t smile the way I used to because I can’t move my mouth the way I used to. But the hardest thing to cope with it’s the way I look now. I’m 26 years old and barely go out because I’m ashamed of friends and other people seeing me and when I do leave my house I keep my mask on all the time. I don’t like to take pictures anymore, can’t even talk through FaceTime with someone because I hate looking at my face, I avoid mirrors and seeing old pictures of myself triggers me because it completely fills me with sadness and regret. My doctor also tells me everything went perfectly with my surgery and that he loves my results. But just like you, I’m just waiting to hit the 1 year post op to see if hopefully anything changes. Thank you again for being so open about this and know that I’m here and could write you my email if you ever need someone to talk to about it privately, just cause I know how extremely difficult it is to feel understood 🤍.

I feel the exact same way. I feel like I was pressured into this by orthodontists and surgeons that stood to gain financially when I was better off not getting it all together. My discomfort and pain are so much worse now than before the surgery and I lost my favorite thing about myself, my smile

I am very concered about getting my surgery. Of all the videos I have seen you are the only one who I saw went through this. You are justified in the way you feel.
I here you rachel. Your voice matters. I am going down a similar path. I had surgery on my lower back from L4-L5 disc herniation. I never gave it enough recovery time, drs scheduled my surgery and I had it done. It was 3 months later when I started to realize my pain wasn’t going away. Surgery has left me devastated with the results. It minimizes my pain in certain ways but not the results I was hoping for at all. For anyone reading this, please consider any other possible route first before surgery. Surgery is a last resort. I have some tmj symptoms rn. Hoping I can treat it as much as possible without surgery. Hope you are doing well rachel. I wish you the best of luck on your journey in life. Your video was so wholesome❤
I just stumbled across this video and know that your feelings are valid and you're not alone in this experience. I am 15-months post-op from my double jaw surgery and genio... I also had a septo/rhinoplasty 7.5 months after surgery to drastically improve my breathing and make my nose look more like it did before jaw surgery. I can honestly say that it has only been in the past month or so that I have started to accept my face and actually think it looks good. It takes a loooong time for the nerves to come back and all the small muscles in the face that atrophied in those early months when you weren't using them much to also come back (which, btw, I'm not there yet either... my face still feels tingly and a bit tight). Not to mention swelling... I am almost a year into therapy with an orofacial myologist who has helped immensely in bringing that proper function and symmetry back to my face. It just takes time... I still see imbalances and am not totally happy, but it's much better than before. Certainly at 6 months or even 10 months, I was far from looking normal or feeling okay. I'll note that I am still in the process of moving my teeth with Invisalign (my midlines were CRAZY off after jaw surgery) and that movement is making a big difference too in the overall symmetry of my face, as well. Also, it is a huge psychological challenge to learn to accept a new face... that's part of it too. I'm sure you will continue to see improvements to the balance and symmetry... it just might take a few years. Good to be vigilant though and if you really believe something is wrong after you've given it a lot of time and you're otherwise feeling totally back to normal in terms of the feeling and function in the face, then it can't hurt to consider options or get additional opinions. I would hate for you to have to get a revision surgery that you might not need though... that would just continue to prolong this already long and painful journey. I hope this helps... I know it's easy to think that everyone is doing just great and is so thrilled after jaw surgery but that's definitely not always the case. It just takes some of us much longer to get there... but we will get there. :)
Thank you for writing this comment. I had my double jaw surgery for an underbite in Jan 2021. They weren’t supposed to move my lower jaw much but somehow ended up moving it a quite a bit, and I’ve been down in the dumps ever since. Everybody feels like my face hasn’t changed so drastically as for me to feel so dysphoric but it is how it is. I regret the surgery every single day. And my lip and chin have parasthesia. Most people say that their nerves reverted back to normal by the end of their first year post op. So hearing you say all this and accept that not everybody is having a gala post their surgery is very comforting. I keep blaming myself for going ahead with the surgery because everybody else seems so happy with theirs and I’m just too afraid to even take my mask off in public. @@ankitasehgal03 may I ask how old you are? I am 2 years post op (bimax), 44, and my whole lower lip down to the chin still has parasthesia/dysesthesia. @@BodyOpt yep, I hope the nerve regenerates. I’m currently in India but I’m a doctor and I’m planning to join the NHS in a year or so. I was thinking that maybe I’ll get a revision in the Uk. So it would be really helpful if you could suggest who’d be a good surgeon for revision. My teeth alignment is alright but my upper jaw is impacted and my upper teeth aren’t visible so my lower jaw has to close too much and it makes my jaw feel very tense. Also my tongue doesn’t have enough space to settle comfortably. My parasthesia is on the right half of my lower lip and 3/4th of my chin. But while biting into fruits or whatever, my lower teeth on the right side get very sensitive. What about you? With the teeth/jaw alignment?
It is so sad, and criminal imo, when doctors negate your experience, especially after they've profited tremendously off of you. I'm so sorry you have gone through all of this and your smile, etc., are not what you wanted or had hoped for. Thanks for sharing, and know that you are heard!
I am a candidate for jaw surgery so I have been watching jaw surgery videos. My ortho says that to get the perfect smile that I want, I need jaw surgery. Thank you so much for posting your journey thus far. Your editing and vlogging skills are top notch. This is one of the best documentations I have seen on RUclips, jaw surgery and otherwise. I’m so sorry you are going through this and although Ive never been in this situation, I can only imagine how it must feel to not identify with yourself. I just want to say that you are BRAVE for being honest and sharing with us your feelings and experience. Although our physical attributes are apart of our self recognized identity, they are NOT what make you, YOU! You are still the SAME person as you have always been. Beautiful on the inside and out! I want to confirm that you are not crazy and your concerns are justified. If I were you, I would wait a full two years post op to make decisions about any revisions or further ortho. It looks as though some nerves in your face still need to heel… but I am not a doctor. On top of that, I would definitely get second, third, fourth opinions if you are still not satisfied with your results. @@nadiyaparvin6245 I have not gone through with the surgery and I don’t think I am going to. My bite is functional, even though my lower jaw is larger than my upper. I have no pain. The only reason I would opt for the surgery would be for cosmetic purposes. It’s not with it to me

While I think you’re beautiful, I think your concerns are legitimate as I can definitely see some asymmetry. What other people see is probably much less obvious than what you see though - it’s so easy to be our own biggest critics! I agree with other people suggesting seeking a second and third opinion, and also would suggest checking with a physical therapist (maxillo-facial specialist) because it may partially be a question of retraining your muscles on one side of your face. The last thing I would say, being at only 4 weeks post, is that it’s been a really unique time to focus on internal beauty rather than external, and I’m really hoping that is the fruit of this whom experience. That in no au negates how hard it is to not feel pretty on the outside, but I see so much grace and maturity in you and how you handled it, and also humility to seek others’ input and also strength in speaking up and being clear with hour surgeon as well as vulnerable with this video! Hoping it all works out for the best!
You are not over analyzing. You are not insane. Far from it. You have handled this incredibly painful difficult situation so well in my opinion. I found your video because I am a 62-year-old woman who had teeth pulled when young and retractive braces and have dealt with the resulting physical and aesthetic issues my whole life. Your surgeon was recommended to me by my ortho in New York which is why I found your video. I see how he has put your case on his Instagram page and I find his whole demeanor and behavior etc. absolutely deplorable. I am sure that there are people and options available for you to fix the asymmetries in your face. You were beautiful you are still beautiful but this surgeon definitely fucked some things up and he’s not taking responsibility for it. I will never go to see him and I am going to let my ortho know about this. You are very brave and I wish you so much luck in finding the solutions you need. I need luck too in finding a way to undo the damage done to my own face by extraction orthodontics.
The exact same thing happened to me 10 years ago. I'm 24. The NHS just told me the orthodontist who ordered extraction is now dead and they "don't know" why my teeth were pulled. I'm on jaw surgery waiting list so surely they can't go ahead without fixing the bone loss and shifting?
Susan have you considered bimaxillary advancement? My face was also ruined by extraction ortho, actually twice, the second time when an ortho tried to “reverse” the extractions and made me so much uglier. I’m miserable. I’m considering jaw surgery.

I am super happy with results and regained the fullness of my face due to sub malar implants attached to the bone. I fully recommend this to you. Also to get the best surgery you can afford! I am so sorry you have had to go through what you have experienced. Thank you for sharing your story, I thought I was the only one struggling with not liking my smile after undergoing my 2nd orthodontic treatment. I did not have oral surgery, I had IPR (interproximal reduction) and when the power chain went on to bring the teeth together my whole lower jaw shifted to the right and now bite is off, and I have two bites now. My original bite and the new bite…so I have a slide now. I too have regrets and now I have to live with the changes and it is really uncomfortable. I too could go through more treatment, but I keep thinking what if it makes it worse. I pray that God will give us both peace of mind and help us to accept our crooked smiles and love ourselves the way he loves us❤🙏🤗🥰
Your concerns are valid. Stop covering for the dr. that botched your face. You are young and naive and he's taking advantage of that. Make him pay through social media by putting him on blast. Find a board certified dr. to give you the results you want. Yes, it will be costly, but your sanity is more important than money.
@@evajohns3217I did my surgery in korea in korea if you get botched, you are not allow to put it on internet they can sue you (I know someone who did) and had to repay the hospital who did the surgery even if it’s the hospital’s fault sadly in korea these hospital are protected by the government and laws in their favors (I’m not sure of her hospital tho and which country she did it)
I feel so heard seeing your video because I’m going through the same thing! I’m so sorry to hear you’re here too. My orthodontist and surgeon have done the same thing, bouncing responsibility back and forth to each other-my orthodontist actually said “I can’t move your jaws” after the surgery… I’m starting new orthodontics which will cost tens of thousands out of pocket, and am going to have to get a rhinoplasty to fix how crooked my nose is now 🙃 you’re not insane, medical gaslighting is a thing!
Hey girl you’re beautiful and I’ve been through something a bit similar, my old orthodontist told me that I had a class 3 underbite and shamed me for my prominent chin and he told me to get jaw surgery. I didn’t want to, so I went to another orthodontist and he told me that I didn’t have a sever underbite . He said that my teeth could be fixed without surgery. I’ve always been very self conscious of my face but now I’m feeling a bit better at a new orthodontist. Also you’re not crazy at all! ❤ I recommend that you see a new doctor If you feel comfortable doing that ❤😊
Hey I think your concerns are valid and it’s kind of tough when everybody is telling you one thing but you feel a different way. Another RUclipsr who got DJS too said something like it’s such a paradox, in fixing your face or whatever you really notice all your flaws more and kind of everything starts seeming off. If you read this I feel like maybe you should stop reading comments and take a break from even thinking about your face or anything like that. Like this can’t be good for your mental health and I don’t really know what the solution is but like making yourself feel bad can’t be good. Like who knows maybe it’s just some nerve damage and like slowly things will fit into place and like you said you can look back at this with a different perspective. Im debating on jaw surgery and I’m somewhat content with my face, but honestly the only reason I was considering it is bc I thought it would give me a more defined jawline. Im just scared that I won’t like how I look after, but at the same time I don’t like the fact that I have an inherent flaw on one of the most prominent parts of my body (the face snd I have an edge to edge bite like you did), so I understand where you’re coming from. Like my edge to edge bite isn’t that noticeable and like im pretty much your before picture and so it’s not like it’s life altering or anything. I appreciate your vulnerability and being honest bc I’m sure somebody has gone through this but they never made a RUclips video about it or anything, so you’re helping a lot of people out (including myself) by doing these vids. Plz keep us updated on your perspective.
I am 1 month post - op from jaw surgery. I had both jaws broken due to severe underbite. I am enjoying my results. The advice that I can give you are, do not let them cut on you again and do reverse surgery because it will make it worst than before. Had the surgeon done the job correctly to began with you wouldn’t need aligners, instead you coul have kept your braces on the whole time and shifted your midline using orthodontics rubber bands and a power chain. You still look beautiful but every person opinion doesn’t matter only yours. Keep your head up beautiful ❤️
Do not let that surgeon touch your face again! Don’t let him do your nose or anything else. Also, you are not crazy. The doctor will never admit to any wrong doing and will tell you everything is perfect. I think you should look into legal options and sue him.
Honestly, I think you need to seek a second, or even a third, opinion elsewhere, just for your own peace of mind and mental health. Your doctor seems so unprofessional and patronising, you deserve so much better and I'm sorry you're going through this! I truly hope everything works out for you. ❤️

My two cents is go get a second opinion. The doctor you were emailing with was not good, they switched from agreeing with your concerns to ignoring them, insulting you by sending you a picture of a ruler, and all the options they gave were just a band aid over what they messed up. Just kind of start fresh with a new surgeon to fix it because you are definitely not crazy or wrong. 💗
Slight deviation post-surgery can happen. I’ve seen videos where the midline deviation occurs post surgery from other people and ortho is usually recommended for a bit of time. It also looks like you have some nerve damage or muscle weakness post-surgery on one side that so maybe that’s why it looks like everything is uneven. I think your jaw looks even but your muscles look weaker on one side slightly. I notice it more when you talk. I personally think you look very beautiful now and your face looks more harmonious. I hope you start to feel better about yourself. Not trying to dismiss your feelings at all but I also feel like you might have a little bit of body dysmorphia post surgery which is common after drastic changes to the face. I hope you find peace and find your confidence again! You are beautiful!! Also it was really rude that he sent you a ruler!!! That is so unprofessional.
I was considering surgery too. I have class 3 but I wasn’t born with it. It just happened out of nowhere and every doc is recommending surgery. There’s ways to correct a bite without surgery but they keep insisting. Thank you for sharing yours experience. I know it’s a huge risk of damaging of the nerves. Lots of videos just points out the positives and never talks about the negatives.

Your teeth are beautiful, and I think to get veneers or orthodontics to "fix" the surgeon's mistake is like putting a Band-Aid on it. I doubt he will admit fault because he might be worried about a lawsuit. If it were me, I would get a second opinion as soon as possible from someone completely unconnected to the original surgeon. To me, it looks like the asymmetry you are worried about is more noticeable in the soft tissue than it is in the midline, which makes me I wonder if you might have some nerve damage that is preventing the one side of your face from having full movement, kind of like how stroke patients will sometimes have facial asymmetry due to nerve damage.
I find the same. She seems to have muscular asymmetry whereas the bones are symmetrical. I can see her upper teeth curve properly aligned to the straight line of her eyes. Her muscles just open her mouth sideways even taking the nose with it. This causes the final apperance to be asymetrical.
You are a powerhouse! You are pretty regardless, but I still see that your concerns are totally real. I know that you will get a revision that resolves it for you. I have been through this myself and resolved my serious issues with my initial surgery. Took some time though.
I'm so sorry this happened to you. To me, your face looked symmetrical before. Post-op, it looks obviously asymmetrical because of the position of the teeth. You have every right to be upset. But, you are still beautiful and I hope that you can feel comfortable smiling and showing your face without a mask even if you don't like how the lower half of your face looks. i’m going to have to agree with the nerve damage point some people have made. while i definitely see what you’re saying about the midline of your upper teeth, what i’m noticing even more so is that the muscles in your face and mouth are moving asymmetrically. From watching you speak in your before videos vs now, there’s a drastic difference in the way your facial muscles are moving. I’m honestly a bit shocked that your doctor has not brought this possibility up to you. I’ve had surgery before, granted not on my face, and it took a long time for the nerves and muscles to return back to their original functionality. I don’t know much about nerves, but perhaps consult with a neurologist as well?

What a difficult experience. I'm 5 weeks post op of double jaw surgery. I know it's too early to say, but I am completely terrified every time I look in the mirror. It is completely natural and normal for you to feel frustrated and upset with this. To feel this way is not a matter of vanity but it's about how we relate to the world, our sense of self. Yes, you are totally beautiful and I do believe that things will get better with time. But I just wanted to support you and your feelings. Also, I'm wondering if physical therapy, daily facial massages and face exercises will help with the muscularity of it all. Because for sure the muscles are not sure what to do and where to be. They also need help and this could help the feeling and sensation of asymmetry. Sending power to you.
Rach, please do not apologize for the way that you are feeling. I can relate. I recently -three weeks ago-got two partial dentures. Top teeth were pulled out a while back. As a result my top dentures don't fit over bottom due to bone loss. With the dentures in I look grotesque. Choked when I inquired how much jaw surgery cost. Back to you, you are correct. Your jaw does not appear straight. Get a second opinion and have problem corrected. With a slight revision your nose would look much better. Go for it. You have your whole life ahead of you.
The surgeon doesn’t seem to want to admit his fault. I would definitely get a second opinion. You went to him for help and after he tells you to do ortho work again. Then what was the point of going to him then? Also the pictures don’t capture the full extent. It’s different smiling vs talking, because I actually don’t see it in the pics of you smiling in your after photos but I see it in this video. I think this has more to do with his pride. Him posting that knowing you’re unhappy is really unprofessional. Everything he has said and done has rubbed me the wrong way, continually talking down to you. It almost feels like he’s gaslighting you. You are smart and mature, with a good head on your shoulders. Side note: have you ever looked into Botox? I don’t know if that’s a permanent fix or not but I have heard of it being used for unsymmetrical parts of the face
Hi Rachel, my heart goes out to you,,,I know exactly how you feel because I too had very bad results from my jaw surgery in 2011. In fact it looks like you and I have the same problem. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I too thought I was the only one who wasn't happy with the outcome. I've been living with it for over 10 years now, because I didn't want to have another surgery. Now here I am..searching for videos to relate to, as I am finally getting it fixed in 3 days. I found a new surgeon who is one of the best in Las Vegas. I am praying hard for him to be able to fix what the previous surgeon did to me. It is so crushing to have not been able to be happy with my appearance for the last 10 years. Like I said, I know how you feel, and it is heart breaking. I really hope you are able to find a new surgeon and fix this. I do see it, it's not in your head. I see it. So brave for sharing your story! I’m not a doctor and know nothing but firm watching your video it seems like it your nerves and facial muscles that are affecting the alignment. I’d also definitely get a second opinion from another surgeon just to rule out anything. And lastly , you’re beautiful !

We have only one specialist in Arizona who does it and I learned about it by mere accident. I hope you get better when it heal completely.

I was advised to extract 4 premolars to fix overcrowding etc. It has caused a lot of problems with my posture and airway but also appearance. Whatever you do do NOT do the orthodontic treatment where they reopen your extraction spaces, it ruined my face. It doesn’t fix the problem, bimaxillary advancement could improve things but it’s a major surgery, be careful.
@@Elainek2809 Thankyou for ur advice, I actually had just had 2 upper premolars extracted and later I found out about the drawbacks so i stopped my orthodontic treatment midway. I have insanely sunken cheeks now though and very prominent eyebags because ur premolars are supposed to hold up ur upper cheeks. So now I cant smile because my extracted teeth are veru viisble and my facial structure looks destroyed. I was considering mse but now I dont think I can trust any dentist anymore. My bite is ruined as well, none of my teeth bite well now because I stopped treatment midway. Ive also developed tmjd so I will just be getting orthotic to fix that then maybe ceramic dental implants.

I’m going in underbite jaw surgery in December and this definitely made me hesitant to do just cause of how rude the doctor was and wasn’t understanding where you was coming from, but in my honest opinion I think you look great and I do see the good difference & I do see what you’re talking about so your not crazy but I don’t think it’s very noticeable until you pointed in out but other than that I think you look great

I had a jaw surgery and told my doctor multiple times if my nose was going to change ( I didn't want it) he said no every time. 1 year after the surgery my nose was completely different. I wouldn't have had that surgery if I knew that, my breath is worse than ever and the way I look it's completely different.
They need to address your nose and either have adjusted during the surgery or be real about letting you know it’s not “swelling” and it’s time for a rhinoplasty 6 months afterwards. I agree that they are not being honest, gaslighting and it is totally not cool... so glad you are doing these videos and I hope that everything will be rectified. You deserve so much more!
Hi Rachel-- first off, i want to say how incredibly sorry i am that this has been your experience. I absolutely see your concerns and I do think that the surgery worsened the symmetry of your face. This is such an important video to me because your story and everything you say is similar to my experience. I had double jaw surgery 2 years ago, and I also felt like my midlines were off, but orthodontics improved it to a point where I can accept it. I also had other permanent complications with my TMJ and overall I feel like I look better after surgery but man did it take a hell of a journey to try and be okay with my current face. I do feel like your case is worse than mine, and I think that not only was the doctor being very inappropriate and rude, he might have even been gaslighting you. I have my own fair share of experiences with situations like that with doctors, but that is a whole other story. Anyway, imho i think that a revision double jaw surgery would be best for you, but only after doing lots of research and you can personally afford it (which is very stressful bc that shit costs a fortune). after going through the recovery process, it is VERY hard to consider that you may need to do it again (i'm also considering revising it in the future but for now my results are satisfactory). I am also like you, drawing out the midlines and analyzing the hell out of my face and not every patient will do that. it's kind of a gift and a curse to be this detail-oriented because flaws/asymmetries will bother the hell out of you. anyway, i hope you're doing better now. i know how lonely and difficult it is because it seems either no one sees it the way you see it or they can't possibly understand unless they have been through it themselves. @@akasais2950 revising like getting a jaw surgery again to get the outcome you originally would’ve wanted. Not to revert back to your past bite unless that’s the goal, but likely not since you would probably be getting jaw surgery only bc your bite is not ideal
I’m so sorry your going through this. I am completely on your side. I can majorly tell your smile is off. It is shifted to one side. I don’t mean to be so blunt but i could tell immediately. I would do anything I could to sue them.
I am definitely not a surgeon but to me it looks like they lined up your mid-line with your nose (which looked slightly deviated from the beginning). The lines he drew look like it was drawn from the tip of your nose as your midline. If I were you I would definitely get a second surgical opinion and maybe a second orthodontic opinion as well (not from his list of referred people). Your facial muscles may still be adjusting to a new position and maybe could need physiotherapy to help them line up better as well. Ive had lower jaw surgery and I think you’re gorgeous but I would be upset too, to go through all that to have a facial cant. Please keep us updated!
Your feelings are 100% valid! I would NOT recommend getting a nose job, especially if you're hesitant about it and have never wanted it before. I'd be worried that if you were to get a nose job you'd be disappointed with the results. I've heard people getting filler as a non-invasive "nose job". Could that be an option? Then if you're unhappy with the results you can easily dissolve it.

This makes me nervous, I’m getting jaw surgery for my class 3 underbite and now I’m questioning the odds of this happening to me too. One thing though, you’re not overreacting - you know yourself better than anyone else. You do look better! I think it will be completely possible to achieve the ultimate result you want. Sometimes it take more than one procedure to get there with these things!

In my opinion: - You are correct with the assymetry - The assymetry is less severe than you think. It is heavily distorted by you knowing your own face best and the distortion of camera. We also see it more severely than it likely is - The overall procedure made you more attractive overall, less prominent and dominant facial features but more cute (what men usually prefer) - The assymetry takes away your confidence and being photogenic. So without adjustment of the mouth you will likely *never* be taking photos as you used to, so take action when possible - The overall cost of everything is really a lot to handle for a young adult like you. Even though it does not sound very positive I'd advise you to not show for facial features if you are uncomfortable with it, pay the bills you have and try to make new money to get orthodontic treatment. This will likely take a few years tough so be patient and focus on different aspects on yourself than just the body Overall, I deeply understand your difficulties and they are true. You might be prettier in the whole but you have been messed up at a part that was not an issue before. I honestly believe that you will be able to fix that with orthodontics. Cost plays a huge role there but please be aware that a better time will come and you will have a new face again that you are not ashamed of. Stay bright, you will handle this. Your energy is very telling.

Hi everyone!! I'm reading through your comments and I just want to thank you all so much, hearing your different perspectives has helped me SO much. I am still extremely unhappy with the results and I've been really sad for months, hence I haven't been active on here. I have a ton of videos and updates for you, but I am not doing well and I feel bad sharing about such a negative experience. I'll upload all the vids I have on my next day off, but just a warning I've been super depressed over this lol.
Current update: My doctor is still certain that all is meticulous despite me continuing to share my concerns. I consulted with another surgeon, got new cbct scans (he saw the issues right away) and and I will be going forward with a revision surgery.
I was really happy w the surgeon I met with and I will most likely be going w him, but I would love to get multiple opinions since this is a huge decision for me and I want to be absolutely sure of everything. Consults are very expensive so I'm not able to do more than a few, so I want the ones I do to be with the best of the best. Dr. Steven Sullivan in Oklahoma City, he does a lot of complex revisions and TMJ cases, he does around 160 cases a year and I believe has ~30 years of experience. Hope this helps!

Doctors will literally gaslight you its fucked. They take advantage of the fact that they're an authority figure and that most people will trust what they say.
May not be from the surgery. There is overwhelming evidence that the covid vaccine can cause Bell's Palsy to a large swath of the population. Hopefully it corrected itself, since it's been 2 years from this video.

@@enriquesuarez7113 No, and I'm so glad I didn't. I got braces, so now I have nice straight teeth, but the slight underbite remains. Mine is about the same as Rachel's was pre-surgery. I couldn't go through with it after seeing the drastic change in Rachel's appearance and how unhappy she was. I hope she is doing okay.
@@JessicaCondon5 Holly crap, I am in the exact same situation as you. Perfect straight teeth and only a slight edge to edge underbite. I was going to do it and then my ortho told me I need to remove my healthy well-erupted wisdom teeth in order to do the surgery. Me not wanting to remove 4 healthy teeth and now this video is making me reconsider even doing the surgery in the first place.
@@enriquesuarez7113 It just doesn't seem worth it, unless your bite was so bad that it was difficult to chew or it was damaging your teeth. I'm sure some people have a positive result, but I just couldn't risk it! What Rachel experienced is truly life altering.
As a practicing orthodontist, your concerns are extremely valid. You had facial asymmetry before surgery as well but it was exaggerated by the poor surgical plan. They also didnt settle your bite well. They left it in Class II

So commit suicide is only option? Why didn't the surgeon warn her about psychological issue that could occur and made sure that her current condition was definitely unfunctional before recommending surgery? Is it to line his own pockets?

This looks more like a muscular/ nerve issue due to the surgery than an actual midline issue, although I do see the deviation to the right. But it looks like the muscles on your left side haven’t regained full movement while the right side has, so it looks like everything if shifted to the right when you move your face to talk. This is usually do to the nerves being disrupted during the surgery and it can take MONTHS for full nerve function to return. I would wait a few more months to see if this improves before you go back for another surgery with anyone, but that’s just my opinion. I def think you don’t need to be walking around with a mask all the time though. I know it seems bad to you because you’re used to how your face used to look, but I guarantee nobody is going to notice or focus on your face being slightly shifted. You’re beautiful, you look normal.
Don’t shave your teeth, don’t get more orthodontics, don’t do anything with your nose. None of these things will fix the slight asymmetry with your face and may actually cause even more issues that will make you more unhappy. If anything, just do a consult with a plastic surgeon ( for free) to see what your options are if you ever want to pursue it in the future.
I agree with Marlene Glebocki! I recently had upper and lower jaw surgery and my surgeon talked about how muscles in your face take awhile to either shrink or grow depending on how old you are and how long you've had an under/overbite for. He explained that for 25 years of having an underbite I grew muscles in my chin where I shouldn't have and it'll take awhile for my chin muscle to go away. It's little things like that , that make it worth talking to multiple maxillofacial surgeons or plastic surgeons. Just do your research and be patient! I think you look great btw! But I understand what you're seeing as well! All the best :)

Completely agree. It is easily noticeable if you watch her eyebrows, lips, cheeks, and facial muscles and compare the two sides. It would be way harder to notice a 1mm difference from the video, but the facial unresponsiveness and slight droop make themselves more apparent, especially on video. Hoping she gets some solutions or consultation on this front!
I agree with the above. I also dont think it's nerve damage, I think it is that the muscles on the left side of. your face have less strength than the right side and therefore are not pulling your mouth to a central position. I would study facial exercises. There are many online ways to learn them. If that does not bring the mouth to a natural central position, then see a Plastic Surgeon about having a lift to the muscles on the left side. I definitely think you can let go of the idea of continuing with the surgeon who did your work. I think it is quite possible that they did a good job with the structural work. Perhaps he cant shift to considering the possibility that this is a muscular weakness. You could also have a consult with a physiotherapist or an Osteopath.
But, I feel strongly you have a foundation of good work with your bones and now just need some refinement to strengthen the muscles on the left side. There is also a mouth exerciser you can buy to build muscle strength.
I hope this helps a little to give you some ideas that will refine your results to perfect. I feel that perfect is a very possible goal once you find a way to strengthen that side of your face. Google face exercises. :) If you really look closely at how your face moves, the area paralel with the side of your mouth and just under is wider and does not move when you speak. The muscle there seems weak and it is causing the section between your mouth and under on that side to be wider than it is on the other side. If exercises dont fix it,.....and I think they might.....that area could be lifted by a procedure like a mini lower face lift just on that side, which could be done with a small incision and muscle suturing up towards the lowest part of your ear, or perhaps a thread lift just there.
Well said, I agree. Though that graft he did to your nose... It's completely changed. It looks like a slight trauma shock reaction though this is only noticeable to me because of your before photos. If I saw you on the street, I wouldn't think anything of it. I am sorry you feel this way and hope soon you get to move on 😘
i’m so sorry you’re going through this. my pre surgery face looks like how your face looks now and that’s exactly why i need jaw surgery so i feel you sis 😭 went to see a private surgeon last week who totally invalidated my issue and made me feel like i was mentally unstable and there was so no real issue at all when the lopsidedness is literally in plain sight :/ awfully disheartening. hope you’ve been able to resolve your issue ❤️
Girl you are not overanalysing! You do look amazing but I can definitely see what you’re saying, I think it’s nerve damage on the right side of your face as it doesn’t move as much when you talk. If you know something is wrong don’t take no for an answer! It’s your face at the end of the day and you know yourself more than anyone, talk to someone about what you can do and don’t go back to that surgeon! Keep us updated xx
Girl please don’t be embarrassed to share how you’re feeling, your feelings are completely valid. I recently had ear surgery I’m not happy with and going through the same mental and physical process. I know jaw surgery is different but the way you’re feeling you are not alone. I’m really sorry you’re going through this! I know it sucks, everyone tells you it looks fine but all you can see is the things others can’t and wish you could turn back time. As an outsider, I think you are still just as gorgeous as you were before but I wish you the best of luck for the future with whatever you decided. Your concerns are completely valid. Your composure towards your doctor speaks volumes to your character. If I were in your shoes, I don't know if I could act as respectful as you have been to everyone ignoring what is in plain sight (comparing your pre-surgery self from your first video) I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. If this happened to me, I would probably look into plastic surgery. I feel like they would actually acknowledge and address your concerns a lot more than your doctor and orthodontist have. Whatever you've decided, I hope you're feeling better and end up happy with the end result because you deserve it.

I definitely think that the slanted position of your mouth might have something to do with nerve damage or uneven muscle functioning. I am grateful that you are sharing this as I know that you are having a really hard time yourself. However, I don't think you should get a nose job or make changes to your nose, at least for the time being. I think your body image and self-perception may be distorted due to all the traumatic events you just had to go through, so I hope that you can give yourself a little more time and love before you decide that another change on your face is truly the best option. I believe in you wholeheartedly
Also, I know that no matter what I say, your perception of yourself is the ultimate influencer. However, from a third pov, I genuinely think your overall face shape looks more harmonious and balanced. Your face shifted from an oblong shape to more of an oval shape, and I also think your eyes stand out more now. I do think your mouth is slightly slanted but I only notice it when you speak so I do personally believe that it is not a bone structure issue, but rather something like a face muscle issue.
Honestly, you're so freaking beautiful that it hurts my heart to see you struggle through this :((

It’s not nerve damage. I’m getting jaw surgery to correct the mid line of my upper jaw, because my ortho messed it up when I was younger. That said, because my mid line isn’t in the center, my enter mouth moves to the side the same way hers does. And since I haven’t had surgery yet, it goes to show how the mid line of your jaw can slant your mouth if it’s not placed in the center.
I pray she gets this fixed. She’s still gorgeous though, regardless. ❤️
@@onetruth3703 i actually also had the surgery to correct my midline and bite, and although my midline is technically supposed to be correct after the surgery, I had a bit of nerve damage and residual numbness on one side of my face (I had surgery 9 months ago) so my face is still pretty assymetrical even after the surgery and the corrected bite. So i think it’s a very tricky issue because numbness and nerve damage are really difficult to foresee.
I'm so sorry this happened to you. You're not doing anything wrong by speaking out, you have every right to share your concerns until you're completely happy. Definitely get as many as many opinions are you can. Blessings to you and I hope you get the result you desire and deserve.

This whole thing sounds like a legal issue and he sounds like a bully. I also saw his IG post months ago about your case when I was about to go through my jaw surgery and searching for jaw surgery vlogs and IG accounts of surgeons. His take on the symmetry is bs. Do not go back to the same surgeon. He is clearly incompetent. Don’t tell them who your old surgeon was because they always try to cover for eachother. I can see your complaints and they are valid.
this is the issue I am experiencing in the UK. Surgeons will not go on record with negative comments of others' outcomes.

@@BodyOpt I have lasting nerve damage from Jaw Surgery 8 years ago which turned my life around to a not so pleasant extend. I am still dealing with the troubles of it, but the pain I experienced (which was crippling) subsided. I had similaraesthetic problems like the girl in the video, but my doctor could fix at least the part of looking paralyzed (which led to the pain though). I went to one of the best doctors in the world and paid over 100K for my surgery, then had to hear from people how I should just have chosen a better doctor or if I was too poor to afford a good one. When I tried to fix the pain, I consulted with maybe 12 Maxillofacial Ds all over the world. I have never met more stupid, brainwashed and horrific entitled personalities to be honest. Most of them are also not aesthetically trained and will only consider functionality. I have never felt more judged and belittled although I looked very good in the end. The last doctor I chose made a wonderful impression as a kind, lovely human being. I almost died at their clinic because I couldn't breathe after their general anesthesia. They strapped me to the bed because I became aggressive when I couldn't breathe and I fainted. I only wanted to lift my upper body because my nose was full of blood and they wouldn't let me. After this surgery I developed a 2 year cough, burning mouth syndrome and new lip paralysis. The doctor didn't stick to the plan we discussed at the beginning which was replacing facial implants he removed at the same time- he tried to ghost me and acted horribly. He let me wait 8 weeks for a implant design that looked like from a 5 year old, then cancelled the surgery because I criticized it.The kind person was suddenly gone, and left was a guy who was trying hard to keep up his image. His main concern was what his employees would think of him. I should have been worried about how much he admired and defended my first doctor - he once even told me my pain was psychological. Nevertheless, I have made peace with the situation, the pain is gone which was the worst to bear - but I have asymmetry again and my lip moves funny when I talk (which can be fixed with Botox though).
I had jaw surgery done in the ‘90s, both upper and lower jaw as well.
I’m no doctor, but to me, it looks like the nerves on one side aren’t fully healed - I had that same problem. It does get better. The nerve ending take the longest to heal - but that was in the 90s, I don’t know if things have changed since.
Regardless, I think you look amazing. ♥️ It took a long time for me to be okay with my new face. I feel your pain.
There is no difference between Nerves in 90's and Nerves in 2022.
Nerves are erratic and moody. It takes too long for it heal. it heals if it heals otherwise doesn't.
You’re undermining what she’s going through and clearly her doctors mistake. Her jaw is crocked, you can see that clearly.
I did not ho through that as here in germany it's not recommendet in general (too much that can go wrong) but I agree that it looks like some of her muscles are not working the way they should which could still change with time (no Update so idk) or she could try to do botox to even it out (especially the Brows as a lot of that asymetry is caused by them)

hi Rach, thanks for being brave enough to do this. I had jaw surgery 2 years ago with the same results you have. I never smile anymore and hate looking in the mirror, it feels like the carefree, happy life I had is gone. I've been to a couple of surgeons to discuss a revision and they both won't do it because of my breathing issues, so I'm stuck with it. Thank you for the update! We have similar before features and no one had ever mentioned jaw surgery until I was 40. I’ve been asked to model and participate in beauty pageants but a surgeon was the one to note my “deformity”, lol. I did an obsessive amount of research and as much as I wanted to go for it, I knew that I may not be happy with the results. I talked to my surgeon about nose changes and he said the alar stitch may not hold or prevent things all that much. Also, being older I didn’t want to also deal with sagging skin. I understand what you are talking about being unhappy but these surgeons mainly deal with the function of the jaw. I would probably get nose consultations as the plastic surgeons will optimize the aesthetic balance of the face. Most stellar after photos from Asia included a nose job. I opted not to do the surgery but there are regrets with that too. “What if’s” will haunt me and I will always be somewhat insecure with my profile. I think your after results are a net positive improvement even though you see things differently. I would probably feel the same given that a certain level of satisfaction is expected after the entire process. You are valid in your concerns but try to live your life and put concerns on a shelf, address things as part of the process. You are a beautiful girl and appreciate your perspective.

Hi Rachel, thank you so much for sharing. In my home country a group therapy is offered after DJS, as it is a very difficult experience. So please be kind to yourself. I think your concerns are valid, even though I also recognize there are improvements, just as you talked about. If you will feel up for it, it would be nice to hear an update from you, even negative, since this is how life is, not always positive. Your concerns are totally valid. I would see another surgeon for a second option. I do notice some swelling still and you don‘t have as much movements on the right side of your face.

Hi Rach! I totally understand you and I am going through a similar situation... I am on my 3 month post op so I need to wait some months before judging end results but I am pretty sure I am going to see another surgeon to talk about a possible revision. At the end you are the only one who needs to be happy about your results, so try to hold you onto yourself, if you feel something is wrong then it is, no matter what other people tell you. I would def get other surgeons opinions on your case. Keep strong, there is always a solution to be found.

Hi Rachel! Thank you so much for posting this, you just made me feel validated in an immense way. It’s like you took the thoughts out of my mind with everything you said you were feeling. It’s 4 am were I live, I was desperately googling cases of regrets after jaw surgery because I was also feeling crazy for having all these similar thoughts and feelings since my family tells me I look fine and invalidate my feelings and came across your video.
I want you to know that I’m so sorry you’re also going through this and that I understand you. You’re not crazy or wrong at all. A lot of the things you pointed out in your after pictures I see it in myself too. It’s been 8 months since my double jaw surgery and I’m in a deep depression because I also hate the way I look now. I’ve been carrying with this burden every second of every day since the swelling started to go away because I’ve never hated my appearance more and no one seems to understand. I was pretty happy with my looks before the surgery and never had any major trouble with my jaw besides the fact that my bite didn’t close completely (no pain, no headaches, no trouble chewing) but I’ve had braces for several years multiple times and my dentist and my doctor told me I needed this surgery. It took me 7 years to go thorough it and having it it’s currently the biggest regret of my life. Now my jaw hurts all the time, I have trouble chewing to the point were I’ve stopped eating certain foods because the pain it’s too much, I have trouble sleeping and I can’t smile the way I used to because I can’t move my mouth the way I used to. But the hardest thing to cope with it’s the way I look now. I’m 26 years old and barely go out because I’m ashamed of friends and other people seeing me and when I do leave my house I keep my mask on all the time. I don’t like to take pictures anymore, can’t even talk through FaceTime with someone because I hate looking at my face, I avoid mirrors and seeing old pictures of myself triggers me because it completely fills me with sadness and regret.
My doctor also tells me everything went perfectly with my surgery and that he loves my results. But just like you, I’m just waiting to hit the 1 year post op to see if hopefully anything changes.

I here you rachel. Your voice matters. I am going down a similar path. I had surgery on my lower back from L4-L5 disc herniation. I never gave it enough recovery time, drs scheduled my surgery and I had it done. It was 3 months later when I started to realize my pain wasn’t going away. Surgery has left me devastated with the results. It minimizes my pain in certain ways but not the results I was hoping for at all. For anyone reading this, please consider any other possible route first before surgery. Surgery is a last resort. I have some tmj symptoms rn. I just stumbled across this video and know that your feelings are valid and you're not alone in this experience. I am 15-months post-op from my double jaw surgery and genio... I also had a septo/rhinoplasty 7.5 months after surgery to drastically improve my breathing and make my nose look more like it did before jaw surgery. I can honestly say that it has only been in the past month or so that I have started to accept my face and actually think it looks good. It takes a loooong time for the nerves to come back and all the small muscles in the face that atrophied in those early months when you weren't using them much to also come back (which, btw, I'm not there yet either... my face still feels tingly and a bit tight). Not to mention swelling... I am almost a year into therapy with an orofacial myologist who has helped immensely in bringing that proper function and symmetry back to my face. It just takes time... I still see imbalances and am not totally happy, but it's much better than before. Certainly at 6 months or even 10 months, I was far from looking normal or feeling okay. I'll note that I am still in the process of moving my teeth with Invisalign (my midlines were CRAZY off after jaw surgery) and that movement is making a big difference too in the overall symmetry of my face, as well. Also, it is a huge psychological challenge to learn to accept a new face... that's part of it too. I'm sure you will continue to see improvements to the balance and symmetry... it just might take a few years. Good to be vigilant though and if you really believe something is wrong after you've given it a lot of time and you're otherwise feeling totally back to normal in terms of the feeling and function in the face, then it can't hurt to consider options or get additional opinions. I would hate for you to have to get a revision surgery that you might not need though... that would just continue to prolong this already long and painful journey. I hope this helps... I know it's easy to think that everyone is doing just great and is so thrilled after jaw surgery but that's definitely not always the case. It just takes some of us much longer to get there... but we will get there. :)
Thank you for writing this comment. I had my double jaw surgery for an underbite in Jan 2021. They weren’t supposed to move my lower jaw much but somehow ended up moving it a quite a bit, and I’ve been down in the dumps ever since. Everybody feels like my face hasn’t changed so drastically as for me to feel so dysphoric but it is how it is. I regret the surgery every single day. And my lip and chin have parasthesia. Most people say that their nerves reverted back to normal by the end of their first year post op. So hearing you say all this and accept that not everybody is having a gala post their surgery is very comforting. I keep blaming myself for going ahead with the surgery because everybody else seems so happy with theirs and I’m just too afraid to even take my mask off in public. @@ankitasehgal03 may I ask how old you are? I am 2 years post op (bimax), 44, and my whole lower lip down to the chin still has parasthesia/dysesthesia. My surgeon has been dishonest, and it is very clear that the planned movements were not achieved. I have zero contact along my left side of my teeth still.

So it would be really helpful if you could suggest who’d be a good surgeon for revision. My teeth alignment is alright but my upper jaw is impacted and my upper teeth aren’t visible so my lower jaw has to close too much and it makes my jaw feel very tense. Also my tongue doesn’t have enough space to settle comfortably. My parasthesia is on the right half of my lower lip and 3/4th of my chin. But while biting into fruits or whatever, my lower teeth on the right side get very sensitive. What about you? With the teeth/jaw alignment?

I am a candidate for jaw surgery so I have been watching jaw surgery videos. My ortho says that to get the perfect smile that I want, I need jaw surgery. I want to confirm that you are not crazy and your concerns are justified. If I were you, I would wait a full two years post op to make decisions about any revisions or further ortho. It looks as though some nerves in your face still need to heel… but I am not a doctor. On top of that, I would definitely get second, third, fourth opinions if you are still not satisfied with your results. While I think you’re beautiful, I think your concerns are legitimate as I can definitely see some asymmetry. What other people see is probably much less obvious than what you see though - it’s so easy to be our own biggest critics! I agree with other people suggesting seeking a second and third opinion, and also would suggest checking with a physical therapist (maxillo-facial specialist) because it may partially be a question of retraining your muscles on one side of your face. The last thing I would say, being at only 4 weeks post, is that it’s been a really unique time to focus on internal beauty rather than external, and I’m really hoping that is the fruit of this whom experience. That in no au negates how hard it is to not feel pretty on the outside, but I see so much grace and maturity in you and how you handled it, and also humility to seek others’ input and also strength in speaking up and being clear with hour surgeon as well as vulnerable with this video! Hoping it all works out for the best!
You are not over analyzing. You are not insane. Far from it. You have handled this incredibly painful difficult situation so well in my opinion. I found your video because I am a 62-year-old woman who had teeth pulled when young and retractive braces and have dealt with the resulting physical and aesthetic issues my whole life. Your surgeon was recommended to me by my ortho in New York which is why I found your video. I see how he has put your case on his Instagram page and I find his whole demeanor and behavior etc. absolutely deplorable. I am sure that there are people and options available for you to fix the asymmetries in your face. You were beautiful you are still beautiful but this surgeon definitely fucked some things up and he’s not taking responsibility for it. I will never go to see him and I am going to let my ortho know about this. You are very brave and I wish you so much luck in finding the solutions you need. I need luck too in finding a way to undo the damage done to my own face by extraction orthodontics.
The exact same thing happened to me 10 years ago. I'm 24. The NHS just told me the orthodontist who ordered extraction is now dead and they "don't know" why my teeth were pulled. I'm on jaw surgery waiting list so surely they can't go ahead without fixing the bone loss and shifting?
Susan have you considered bimaxillary advancement? My face was also ruined by extraction ortho, actually twice, the second time when an ortho tried to “reverse” the extractions and made me so much uglier. I’m miserable. I’m considering jaw surgery.

Thank you for sharing your story, I thought I was the only one struggling with not liking my smile after undergoing my 2nd orthodontic treatment. I did not have oral surgery, I had IPR (interproximal reduction) and when the power chain went on to bring the teeth together my whole lower jaw shifted to the right and now bite is off, and I have two bites now. My original bite and the new bite…so I have a slide now. I too have regrets and now I have to live with the changes and it is really uncomfortable. I too could go through more treatment, but I keep thinking what if it makes it worse. I pray that God will give us both peace of mind and help us to accept our crooked smiles and love ourselves the way he loves us❤🙏🤗🥰
Your concerns are valid. Stop covering for the dr. that botched your face. You are young and naive and he's taking advantage of that. Make him pay through social media by putting him on blast. Find a board certified dr. to give you the results you want. Yes, it will be costly, but your sanity is more important than money.
@@evajohns3217I did my surgery in korea in korea if you get botched, you are not allow to put it on internet they can sue you (I know someone who did) and had to repay the hospital who did the surgery even if it’s the hospital’s fault sadly in korea these hospital are protected by the government and laws in their favors (I’m not sure of her hospital tho and which country she did it)

My orthodontist and surgeon have done the same thing, bouncing responsibility back and forth to each other-my orthodontist actually said “I can’t move your jaws” after the surgery… I’m starting new orthodontics which will cost tens of thousands out of pocket, and am going to have to get a rhinoplasty to fix how crooked my nose is now 🙃 you’re not insane, medical gaslighting is a thing!
Hey girl you’re beautiful and I’ve been through something a bit similar, my old orthodontist told me that I had a class 3 underbite and shamed me for my prominent chin and he told me to get jaw surgery. I didn’t want to, so I went to another orthodontist and he told me that I didn’t have a sever underbite . He said that my teeth could be fixed without surgery. I’ve always been very self conscious of my face but now I’m feeling a bit better at a new orthodontist. Also you’re not crazy at all! ❤ I recommend that you see a new doctor If you feel comfortable doing that ❤😊
Hey I think your concerns are valid and it’s kind of tough when everybody is telling you one thing but you feel a different way. Another RUclipsr who got DJS too said something like it’s such a paradox, in fixing your face or whatever you really notice all your flaws more and kind of everything starts seeming off.
If you read this I feel like maybe you should stop reading comments and take a break from even thinking about your face or anything like that. Like this can’t be good for your mental health and I don’t really know what the solution is but like making yourself feel bad can’t be good.
Like who knows maybe it’s just some nerve damage and like slowly things will fit into place and like you said you can look back at this with a different perspective.
Im debating on jaw surgery and I’m somewhat content with my face, but honestly the only reason I was considering it is bc I thought it would give me a more defined jawline.
Im just scared that I won’t like how I look after, but at the same time I don’t like the fact that I have an inherent flaw on one of the most prominent parts of my body (the face snd I have an edge to edge bite like you did), so I understand where you’re coming from. Like my edge to edge bite isn’t that noticeable and like im pretty much your before picture and so it’s not like it’s life altering or anything.
I appreciate your vulnerability and being honest bc I’m sure somebody has gone through this but they never made a RUclips video about it or anything, so you’re helping a lot of people out (including myself) by doing these vids. Plz keep us updated on your perspective.
I am 1 month post - op from jaw surgery. I had both jaws broken due to severe underbite. I am enjoying my results. The advice that I can give you are, do not let them cut on you again and do reverse surgery because it will make it worst than before. Had the surgeon done the job correctly to began with you wouldn’t need aligners, instead you coul have kept your braces on the whole time and shifted your midline using orthodontics rubber bands and a power chain. You still look beautiful but every person opinion doesn’t matter only yours. Keep your head up beautiful ❤️
Do not let that surgeon touch your face again! Don’t let him do your nose or anything else.
Also, you are not crazy. The doctor will never admit to any wrong doing and will tell you everything is perfect. I think you should look into legal options and sue him.

My two cents is go get a second opinion. The doctor you were emailing with was not good, they switched from agreeing with your concerns to ignoring them, insulting you by sending you a picture of a ruler, and all the options they gave were just a band aid over what they messed up. Just kind of start fresh with a new surgeon to fix it because you are definitely not crazy or wrong. 💗

Slight deviation post-surgery can happen. I’ve seen videos where the midline deviation occurs post surgery from other people and ortho is usually recommended for a bit of time. It also looks like you have some nerve damage or muscle weakness post-surgery on one side that so maybe that’s why it looks like everything is uneven. I think your jaw looks even but your muscles look weaker on one side slightly. I notice it more when you talk. I personally think you look very beautiful now and your face looks more harmonious. I hope you start to feel better about yourself. Not trying to dismiss your feelings at all but I also feel like you might have a little bit of body dysmorphia post surgery which is common after drastic changes to the face. I hope you find peace and find your confidence again! You are beautiful!!

I was considering surgery too. I have class 3 but I wasn’t born with it. It just happened out of nowhere and every doc is recommending surgery. There’s ways to correct a bite without surgery but they keep insisting. Thank you for sharing yours experience. I know it’s a huge risk of damaging of the nerves. Lots of videos just points out the positives and never talks about the negatives.

Your teeth are beautiful, and I think to get veneers or orthodontics to "fix" the surgeon's mistake is like putting a Band-Aid on it. I doubt he will admit fault because he might be worried about a lawsuit. If it were me, I would get a second opinion as soon as possible from someone completely unconnected to the original surgeon. To me, it looks like the asymmetry you are worried about is more noticeable in the soft tissue than it is in the midline, which makes me I wonder if you might have some nerve damage that is preventing the one side of your face from having full movement, kind of like how stroke patients will sometimes have facial asymmetry due to nerve damage.
I find the same. She seems to have muscular asymmetry whereas the bones are symmetrical. I can see her upper teeth curve properly aligned to the straight line of her eyes.
Her muscles just open her mouth sideways even taking the nose with it. This causes the final apperance to be asymetrical.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. To me, your face looked symmetrical before. Post-op, it looks obviously asymmetrical because of the position of the teeth. You have every right to be upset. But, you are still beautiful and I hope that you can feel comfortable smiling and showing your face without a mask even if you don't like how the lower half of your face looks. i’m going to have to agree with the nerve damage point some people have made. while i definitely see what you’re saying about the midline of your upper teeth, what i’m noticing even more so is that the muscles in your face and mouth are moving asymmetrically. From watching you speak in your before videos vs now, there’s a drastic difference in the way your facial muscles are moving. I’m honestly a bit shocked that your doctor has not brought this possibility up to you. I’ve had surgery before, granted not on my face, and it took a long time for the nerves and muscles to return back to their original functionality. I don’t know much about nerves, but perhaps consult with a neurologist as well?
Her bones are crooked, that’s way worse than nerves and muscles, so discuss that instead of ignoring it and making it sound less problematic.

What a difficult experience. I'm 5 weeks post op of double jaw surgery. I know it's too early to say, but I am completely terrified every time I look in the mirror. It is completely natural and normal for you to feel frustrated and upset with this. To feel this way is not a matter of vanity but it's about how we relate to the world, our sense of self. Yes, you are totally beautiful and I do believe that things will get better with time. But I just wanted to support you and your feelings. Also, I'm wondering if physical therapy, daily facial massages and face exercises will help with the muscularity of it all. Because for sure the muscles are not sure what to do and where to be. They also need help and this could help the feeling and sensation of asymmetry. Sending power to you.

Rach, please do not apologize for the way that you are feeling. I can relate. I recently -three weeks ago-got two partial dentures. Top teeth were pulled out a while back. As a result my top dentures don't fit over bottom due to bone loss. With the dentures in I look grotesque. Choked when I inquired how much jaw surgery cost. Back to you, you are correct. Your jaw does not appear straight. Get a second opinion and have problem corrected. With a slight revision your nose would look much better. Go for it. You have your whole life ahead of you.

You went to him for help and after he tells you to do ortho work again. Then what was the point of going to him then? Also the pictures don’t capture the full extent. It’s different smiling vs talking, because I actually don’t see it in the pics of you smiling in your after photos but I see it in this video. I think this has more to do with his pride. Him posting that knowing you’re unhappy is really unprofessional. Everything he has said and done has rubbed me the wrong way, continually talking down to you. It almost feels like he’s gaslighting you. You are smart and mature, with a good head on your shoulders.
Side note: have you ever looked into Botox? I don’t know if that’s a permanent fix or not but I have heard of it being used for unsymmetrical parts of the face
Hi Rachel, my heart goes out to you,,,I know exactly how you feel because I too had very bad results from my jaw surgery in 2011. In fact it looks like you and I have the same problem. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I too thought I was the only one who wasn't happy with the outcome. I've been living with it for over 10 years now, because I didn't want to have another surgery. Now here I am..searching for videos to relate to, as I am finally getting it fixed in 3 days. I found a new surgeon who is one of the best in Las Vegas. I am praying hard for him to be able to fix what the previous surgeon did to me. It is so crushing to have not been able to be happy with my appearance for the last 10 years. Like I said, I know how you feel, and it is heart breaking. I really hope you are able to find a new surgeon and fix this. I do see it, it's not in your head. I see it. Whatever you do do NOT do the orthodontic treatment where they reopen your extraction spaces, it ruined my face. It doesn’t fix the problem, bimaxillary advancement could improve things but it’s a major surgery, be careful.
@@Elainek2809 Thankyou for ur advice, I actually had just had 2 upper premolars extracted and later I found out about the drawbacks so i stopped my orthodontic treatment midway. I have insanely sunken cheeks now though and very prominent eyebags because ur premolars are supposed to hold up ur upper cheeks. So now I cant smile because my extracted teeth are veru viisble and my facial structure looks destroyed. I was considering mse but now I dont think I can trust any dentist anymore. My bite is ruined as well, none of my teeth bite well now because I stopped treatment midway. Ive also developed tmjd so I will just be getting orthotic to fix that then maybe ceramic dental implants.

I’m going in underbite jaw surgery in December and this definitely made me hesitant to do just cause of how rude the doctor was and wasn’t understanding where you was coming from, but in my honest opinion I think you look great and I do see the good difference & I do see what you’re talking about so your not crazy but I don’t think it’s very noticeable until you pointed in out but other than that I think you look great
Thank you for sharing this! This means a lot. I had a jaw surgery and told my doctor multiple times if my nose was going to change ( I didn't want it) he said no every time. 1 year after the surgery my nose was completely different. I wouldn't have had that surgery if I knew that, my breath is worse than ever and the way I look it's completely different.

They need to address your nose and either have adjusted during the surgery or be real about letting you know it’s not “swelling” and it’s time for a rhinoplasty 6 months afterwards. I agree that they are not being honest, gaslighting and it is totally not cool... so glad you are doing these videos and I hope that everything will be rectified. You deserve so much more!
Hi Rachel-- first off, i want to say how incredibly sorry i am that this has been your experience. I absolutely see your concerns and I do think that the surgery worsened the symmetry of your face. This is such an important video to me because your story and everything you say is similar to my experience. I had double jaw surgery 2 years ago, and I also felt like my midlines were off, but orthodontics improved it to a point where I can accept it. I also had other permanent complications with my TMJ and overall I feel like I look better after surgery but man did it take a hell of a journey to try and be okay with my current face. I do feel like your case is worse than mine, and I think that not only was the doctor being very inappropriate and rude, he might have even been gaslighting you. I have my own fair share of experiences with situations like that with doctors, but that is a whole other story. Anyway, imho i think that a revision double jaw surgery would be best for you, but only after doing lots of research and you can personally afford it (which is very stressful bc that shit costs a fortune). after going through the recovery process, it is VERY hard to consider that you may need to do it again (i'm also considering revising it in the future but for now my results are satisfactory). I am also like you, drawing out the midlines and analyzing the hell out of my face and not every patient will do that. it's kind of a gift and a curse to be this detail-oriented because flaws/asymmetries will bother the hell out of you. anyway, i hope you're doing better now. i know how lonely and difficult it is because it seems either no one sees it the way you see it or they can't possibly understand unless they have been through it themselves. @@akasais2950 revising like getting a jaw surgery again to get the outcome you originally would’ve wanted. Not to revert back to your past bite unless that’s the goal, but likely not since you would probably be getting jaw surgery only bc your bite is not ideal

I’m so sorry your going through this. I am completely on your side. I can majorly tell your smile is off. It is shifted to one side. I don’t mean to be so blunt but i could tell immediately. I would do anything I could to sue them.

I am definitely not a surgeon but to me it looks like they lined up your mid-line with your nose (which looked slightly deviated from the beginning). The lines he drew look like it was drawn from the tip of your nose as your midline. If I were you I would definitely get a second surgical opinion and maybe a second orthodontic opinion as well (not from his list of referred people). Your facial muscles may still be adjusting to a new position and maybe could need physiotherapy to help them line up better as well. Ive had lower jaw surgery and I think you’re gorgeous but I would be upset too, to go through all that to have a facial cant. Please keep us updated!

Your feelings are 100% valid! I would NOT recommend getting a nose job, especially if you're hesitant about it and have never wanted it before. I'd be worried that if you were to get a nose job you'd be disappointed with the results. I've heard people getting filler as a non-invasive "nose job". Could that be an option? Then if you're unhappy with the results you can easily dissolve it.

This makes me nervous, I’m getting jaw surgery for my class 3 underbite and now I’m questioning the odds of this happening to me too. One thing though, you’re not overreacting - you know yourself better than anyone else. Thank you for sharing this because you’ve brought awareness to future dental surgery candidates and I’m surely going to do my research and look for a good orthodontist for my case. 🙏🏽

@@olliee2353hey, no I haven’t had it yet. They said I should wait a year so maybe by early next year I’ll be getting it hopefully or end of this year.
You do look better! I think it will be completely possible to achieve the ultimate result you want. Sometimes it take more than one procedure to get there with these things!
I kinda feel this. My surgery was supposed to fix my lip incompetence and my gummy smile but I still have both these issues 🥲 I hope I will be able to do a revision. Sending you hugs 💕
In my opinion:
- You are correct with the assymetry
- The assymetry is less severe than you think. It is heavily distorted by you knowing your own face best and the distortion of camera. We also see it more severely than it likely is
- The overall procedure made you more attractive overall, less prominent and dominant facial features but more cute (what men usually prefer)
- The assymetry takes away your confidence and being photogenic. So without adjustment of the mouth you will likely *never* be taking photos as you used to, so take action when possible
- The overall cost of everything is really a lot to handle for a young adult like you. Even though it does not sound very positive I'd advise you to not show for facial features if you are uncomfortable with it, pay the bills you have and try to make new money to get orthodontic treatment. This will likely take a few years tough so be patient and focus on different aspects on yourself than just the body
Overall, I deeply understand your difficulties and they are true. You might be prettier in the whole but you have been messed up at a part that was not an issue before. I honestly believe that you will be able to fix that with orthodontics. Cost plays a huge role there but please be aware that a better time will come and you will have a new face again that you are not ashamed of. Stay bright, you will handle this. Your energy is very telling.
