      I feel you man, I've been waiting for this surgery for soooo long and it's finally almost so far! I don't know when but in july or august I'm gonna get my jaw surgery and I honnestly can't wait to get this over with because this is litterly the only reason I don't feel good about the way I look :)

    • @Robokid309
      @Robokid309 6 лет назад +2

      Lihem well I’ll be a month post-op Friday and I’d say to prepare yourself mentally the most. You can prepare all you want physically but the mental part is the hardest. Everyone tells me how different I look and stuff but I just don’t see it. I still have a good bit of swelling which everyone says is normal but it bums me out nonetheless. You just gotta keep the positive attitude and know that it will be worth it in the end and all good things take time.

    • @Lihem_
      @Lihem_ 6 лет назад +1

      No need to prepare now, I've been prepared for years lol.. I know about the swelling and I know it'll take months to fully heal but I'm prepared for this. I don't know about you but this is something I've been wanting to happen for sooo long and I just can't wait.

    • @Lihem_
      @Lihem_ 6 лет назад

      David Cavill, idk man, probably.. I had to look for braces when I was 12 and then I got to know I had an underbite and had to wait until I was 19 to get surgery and braces.. I’m 21 now, I have braces since december 2016 and I’ll get my surgery in august, just before the new schoolyear starts again.

    I have stubborn swelling, I’m 6 months post op and I was super insecure because one cheeks bigger then the other one side of my nose is pudgy but you just brought me back to reality and made me realize this is all a mental thing so I just got to thug this out 🙏🏽 thank you

    Watching and writing this 4 years after my double jaw surgery! Feels so weird like it was yesterday. I still think sometimes “how bad would my cross bite be now if I didn’t do the surgery” glad I did it! I do have a little permanent nerve damage in my chin though but it’s no issue. Anyone who needs it done get it done. You’ll thank yourself 4 years later lol

    Crazy I watched this video before getting the surgery and now I’m 1 year post op too. I’m so happy for us and for everyone who managed to be courageous to do it. One thing I noticed is my gums are still numb and when I yawn strongly my left jaw would click sometimes.. but it’s fine, nothing painful or worrying. Other than that…nothing. Absolutely worth it all.

    When did you start being able to feel your teeth, gums, roof of mouth, etc...?
    My husband had a double jaw surgery a month ago and it’s really bothering him that he has no feeling. They told us typical blood loss is 150-250 ccs and he lost 1500ccs so he has been really tired and bummed out that his energy levels aren’t coming back yet. Pain and swelling is totally gone. He’ll wear braces for another 12-18 months.

    Hello! May I ask, can you feel where they've put the screws/metal plates in?? and also, this was filmed back in 2018. How are you now in 2021? have you recovered the feeling in the areas you said you were numb?? I'm in the process of looking in to getting jaw surgery, but I am 35yrs old and dont feel it's causing me health issues. So really trying to do research on this to see if I should do it or not. Thanks!

I can finaly chew most foods except chicken and meat. I still have a long way to heal !! The swelling to go down on the jaw angle implant takes forever!! I dont like how my jaw looks now but im not even close to this being the final picture.. im all swollen up still unfortunately

    I'm starting the process soon, and one of my concerns at the moment is having braces for 18 months before the surgery. I'm 20, so having a full set of braces is obviously not ideal. But on top of that, I've heard the braces will have to make my underbite appear worse before the surgery improves it. In your experience, how big was the difference in your bite between the first and last day of braces before surgery?

    • @flashdriveification
      @flashdriveification 6 лет назад +2

      Will Thompson Hey man, I’m in a similar situation as you but nearing the end of my treatment, my surgery is next month. I’m 21 years old had the braces on for almost two years now. Personally my underbite did get progressively worse. I was self conscious in the beginning being a young adult with braces and an underbite, but eventually idk you just kinda get use to it and the mindset I tried to stick to was that in the end this will all be worth it. Now at the tail end before my surgery it’s funny my appearance isn’t something I worry about anymore. Hope this helps!

    • @hughdubyna2252
      @hughdubyna2252 6 лет назад +2

      I'm in the same boat as @flashdriveification and the same age too and I can agree with what they said. There was a moment when I realised how my underbite was accentuated because of the braces. It becomes a bit more obvious in photos but you will notice it more than anybody else. You get used to it. Think of it as a stepping stone to the final goal :) The 16 months i had braces on just flew by honestly. Anywho I'm having my surgery in two days time yeeowww!

    Hey Jair :) Thanks for the video!
    I just have a quick question. I underwent lower jaw surgery and chin surgery a year ago for an small overbite, and quite honestly, I'm probably in the minority who really regret my surgery :( I noticed in the video you're lips move kinda asymmetrically....I have the same thing on my bottom lip and its actually even more noticeable than yours. Of course, the look isn't ideal, but I'm also dealing with very bothersome stiffness and tightening of my lower lip and chin. It is super aggravating when I talk and I hate that its constantly there...did you by chance experience or are experiencing something similar?
    Thanks a bunch!
    Sara

      You can have surgery when your bone has finished growing. For males it's at anywhere from 18 - 22 years old and females 17- 21 years on average. You can check with your surgeon or orthodontist and request either a scan of your left hand or a CT scan of your skull which they are able to measure how much bone growth you have left. Hope this helps!

    In American culture, is it a fundamental aesthetic necessity to have the best possible bite and jaw line? I ask as a Britt with an overbite that gives me no discomfort. I just notice the almost obsessive fixation with orthodontics and questioning how much of it is down to vanity rather than function?

    Hey no offense....I'm a dentist but find your upper crowns don't look very natural (and definitely too white).
    Front teeth should naturally have a more tapered/round shape instead of square-shaped like.
    I didn't think your cosmetic dentist did that good of a job.
    Anyway the before/after of your double jaw surgery looks pretty amazing!

    The problem is, although I did my surgery purely for medical reasons, I can't help but feel like a fraud whenever I smile. I know it's purely physical and that my DNA hasn't actually changed at all. Sometimes I wish I never did it.

      Brian A explain?

    • @523101997
      @523101997 6 лет назад

      Kat A I guess it feels like plastic surgery to me although the cosmetic part of the surgery was more a by product than the reason I went through it.
      I could never be truly happy or confident if I got plastic surgery to enhance my looks. It's all fake and you're lying to yourself but moreso everyone else. Your DNA hasn't changed one bit, everything you once we're is still is.

    • @katarinaa351
      @katarinaa351 6 лет назад

      Brian A that’s deep... I understand now. If only more people considered this before plastic surgery enhancements purely for cosmetic reasons. May I ask how old you were when you got the surgery and how your recovery went?

    • @523101997
      @523101997 6 лет назад

      Kat A I didn't realise my comment had said 'purely for comestic reasons', I corrected it and changed it to 'medical reasons' but I've had a lot of people say it looks really good, the point is that it doesn't make me happy or glad.
      I'm actually a month into surgery and recovery has been so so, I wasn't wired shut and could eat pureed food from day 2 but I had a nose bleed which required me to go hospital for 3 nights and now I have a slight infection. I'm 20 by the way.

    • @katarinaa351
      @katarinaa351 6 лет назад

      Brian A I think you’ll be glad you did it when you get older. I’m 10 years older than you and apparently there are many more risks as you age (like losing feeling in your jaw forever). I didn’t get it done at your age and as a result my teeth are damaged from a bad bite. You made a good choice so don’t worry. You might be feeling emotionally down from the surgery. Anyways, I’m glad to hear you are recovering well!! :)
