    Just bought one online with the special as well ... sadly I think FedEx has lost it as it is still in TX and I am in FL (after five days).

      FedEx is weird sometimes. I’ve had notifications from them stating an item was delivered and then it showed it up a day or two later. Hopefully you get it soon!

    Hmm, I wonder if putting a layer of Shoe Goo (or Goop, same thing) on the first two inches from the tip will help the tip last longer in abrasive soil conditions. As the Shoe Goo wears off, you can remove the remnants and reapply it.

    • @mdutah-insearchofmormongold
      @mdutah-insearchofmormongold  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, that’s not a bad idea, or something thinner that provides a layer of protection. Some brands actually come with a detachable tip so you can replace it when it gets worn.

    Hello! Question, how can you tell if you got the updated version?

    • @mdutah-insearchofmormongold
      @mdutah-insearchofmormongold  7 месяцев назад +1

      I didn’t take any chances and ordered it directly from Garrett. It also says waterproof up to 20 feet on the back of the box. The older models are only 10 feet.

    Do you think this would work for finding steel bird shot (4-7 shot size) in game bird meat?

    • @mdutah-insearchofmormongold
      @mdutah-insearchofmormongold  8 месяцев назад

      I think it probably would but I haven’t tested it on something like that. You will see in the video, it picks up that earring pretty well. I would put the device on high sensitivity to ensure it picks up smaller objects. I’ve heard that wildlife officials use metal detectors to help determine if an animal has been poached but I don’t know exactly what machines they use.

    Hello, I have Minelab Pin point 40 and it´s very, VERY moody. Yes, it can detect everything, it works well. But it will point to false targets, it´s unbehaved (while he start freaking out when I nudge into it, during sudden movement and it starts to detect something and suddenly - nothing).
    It´s true, when the target is there, it worked everytime on every metal. But it´s very, very annoying to constantly turn it on or of, double checking if there is something and mostly it´s false alarm.
    Is Garrett better than this or it has other misbehavings?
    Thank you!

      I’ve used a Pro-Find 35 in the past. It was dependable but my go-to is the Garrett. The only real issue I’ve had is it will sometimes turn off but not detect. I simply have to restart it. I have heard other people complain about having problems with Minelab Pinpointers.

      @mdutah-insearchofmormongold  8 месяцев назад +1

      Salt water is highly mineralized so it’s going to affect it a lot. Try the retune feature like shown in the video. You may have to hit the button several times. Also, try turning down the sensitivity level to the lowest setting. Hopefully these tricks will help.

      Go to about 2:50 in the video and you’ll see how to retune it for salt water. I don’t live by an ocean so I’ve never actually tried it in the field.

    What were the upgrades?

  • @NickyRicki
    @NickyRicki 5 месяцев назад +2

    Quite sad cuz I was thinking it could get it on the high sensitivity on like 4 inches or more

    • @mdutah-insearchofmormongold
      @mdutah-insearchofmormongold  5 месяцев назад

      One thing to remember is the end of the tip is not the most sensitive part. The most sensitive part is about a 1/2 inch up from the tip so hypothetically, you could get a little more depth detection if it’s on an angle.

      Try checking the battery connections. On my first Garrett pinpointer, the battery was a little loose so I added some padding inside the cap to create a tighter fit.

      If it’s still under warranty, you can send it back in and they’ll probably send you a new one.

    • @orscrub3161
      @orscrub3161 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@mdutah-insearchofmormongold I’ll try that. No, it’s just past its warranty. (Of course). The light comes on and it buzzes/vibrates when you turn it on. Just doesn’t beep or buzz when I try to find my target.

    • @mdutah-insearchofmormongold
      @mdutah-insearchofmormongold  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@orscrub3161 I’ve had mine do that every once in a while, but I’ve been able to reset it by turning it off and back on again. My old one I would tap against something and it would sometimes work. You might still want to contact Garrett to see if there is anything they can do for you. Best of luck!
