Thanks, just ran into your site while learning my new Garrett PP-AT, did not get a fake but would have never knew if I did not find Sand Pirate Treasure Hunter.....Thanks Again.
FAKE PEOPLE MAKE FAKE PRODUCTS - SORRY, LOW DOWN, LYING THIEVES *SELL* FAKE STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!! SORRY YOU GOT RIPPED OFF, BUT I CERTAINLY DO HOPE THEY DID IN FACT REFUND YOUR MONEY - YOU MADE A BANG-UP GOOD VIDEO TO GIVE THE REST OF US A HEADS UP, THANKS, BRAVO TO YOU!!!!!!!
I am a new user of detectors, I am starting my purchase from a Greek representative of the specific pin pointer... I thank you for the enlightenment. when I receive it, I will know if it is the original
Thank YOU! Got a knock off today and would not have noticed right away if I had not watched your video! Amazon seller Raxxer, don't buy as used, like new... doh!
I just bought a Garrett AT Pro and everything you said is correct with regards to the real vs fake except on the real Garrett it does say "patent pending"
No mine is all good. Until I watched you video tonight I didn’t even think Garrett pinpointers were being faked. I knew you could buy pointer that looked like the real ones but didn’t know they had Garrett actually wrote on them. Thanks for the info!!
Just learned that if you buy an RnB innovations rechargeable battery for the AT, better make sure it’s from a reputable dealer because I bought one off eBay that was “New Open Box” but it wasn’t new or open box. It was a fake copy made in china.
I bought a fake one on EBay Canada a few weeks ago. A “genuine” Garrett pinpointed from China. It was a fake one. The seller had the guts to refuse to refund me because I was “unable to understand what is fake and what is not”. Thankfully Paypal realized that the seller was full of it and reimbursed me. I try not to buy from China when I can, and this experience confirmed that my next metal detector related purchases will only be from Canada, United States, France, Germany and England.
The real one should come with a Duracell 9v battery and no lanyard. It will also say made in the USA and have a certificate come with it. The settings are noise 1,2,3, and then vibrate 1,2,3.
There are so many fakes out there on this. Best thing to do is call Garrett and ask if the company you are buying from is an authorized reseller or distributor. If Amazon is doing fulfillment only, check the company they are reselling for. Got to beat these bastards.
Great video. I assumed I got a bad one or one that had been returned. Did not consider it being fake. I ordered mine through Walmart (or at least I think I did). Maybe that was a fake site as well.
I bought three of them for gifts and they were such bad fakes they did not even say Garrett in the unit itself. I recieved a complete refund and kept the pinpointers. They work and I loan them out all the time. If my Garrett stops working I just use my other Garrett. Lol
I’m shocked that you received a fake! So scary to me. Thanks to your video I was able to check mine and it checked out real. Thank you for sharing this valuable info my friend! Cricket. I forgot you are also in Japan. Where again?
Sons of bitches... You described almost every issue I had, and a few others. I had that thought of "could this be a fake?" when the re-tuning didn't appear to work, and the sensitivity settings only beeped/pulsed once regardless of setting. One difference from your fake is that mine did come with a battery. It's either a Duracell or a fake, but it feels about the right weight for a real one, cheap batteries are frequently very light, with awful capacity. I was also thrown by what appeared to be quality molds. Most cheap Chinese manufacturers I've encountered have terrible injection molds. Definitely getting a refund for this. Thanks for the detailed video.
No he is completely right because you can call Garrett and they will run the serial number and their are cheap Chinese knock offs . Maybe you should investigate before you start calling people liars.
Thank you! I just bought a Garrett AT Max and Pinpointer, and was relieved to find the pinpointer was authentic, thanks to you.
You’re welcome.

Sorry just realized you had a follow up video lol
Danny Browne I hope you didn’t get a fake one. If so I’d be returning it. They won’t last very long. 😉
No mine is all good. Until I watched you video tonight I didn’t even think Garrett pinpointers were being faked. I knew you could buy pointer that looked like the real ones but didn’t know they had Garrett actually wrote on them. Thanks for the info!!
The other thing I noticed is my booklet is the same as the one he said was fake but the rest checks out as authentic

Thanks, bought one and didn't realize this was a concern! Luckily mine checks out.

Yeah. You have to check everything these days.

Thanks for letting us know that there are fake garrett pin pointer.

Garrett should sue the heck out of these counterfeiters!
Not much you can do to China. I’m sure they have a team that watches for it but they change company names every few months.
Wonderful video - you sure know a lot about FAKE carrots.
@Sand Pirate Treasure Hunter
Did you by chance weigh the fake?
I didn’t, but I did hear there is a slight difference in weight.
I just reached out to Garrett and I found out that there is an authorized dealer in Tokyo.
Wow I’m just about to order one thanks so much
I have another video on how to check it’s it the real one too.
If you get from a reputable dealer you cant really go wrong.
Hi is it work with hunting lead ball ?
Thank you
Yes. But make sure to buy a real one. You can buy a cheap pin pointer and it will work too.

Thanks for teaching bro.
Where did you buy it so as not to do the same thing?
I got it from Amazon Japan.
If you can find that copy, at "copy" reduced price, Will be a reasonably good pin pointer. How much you pay in total , if it is OK to ask?
It was ¥18000. Around $180.00 things cost more here in Japan.
interesting
Thank you soooo much for posting!!!!
I know now mine is a knock off also. Unfortunately it’s 2 yrs old. What site did you get yours from ?
Amazon.
Well done.
hi i just got my pro pointer its just like the one you had on vedio, what did you do, just return it, thx joe
I did. I had to explain the whole thing to amazon to prove it was a fake. Check my other video for one that’s not fake. Hope you get yours replaced.
There telling me the key chain was just extra, they checked my serial numbers and said it's real.she said just get a new battery....joe osiel
@@wkcinaz all mine does is buss can't go to 2nd or 3rd setting s joe o

Where can i buy a real Garrett because of this video i found out that i freshly bought a fake Garrett! Please help.
Just send a code bar photo to Garret

They price gives it away. Genuine Garrett is a lot more expensive. The fakes are only 20-30 dollars
This one they sold me at full price. Don’t be fooled. Best to know what you have as soon as you get it.
Good job
Amazon prime I can trust but it’s pretty crappy that you got scammed.
You can't be sure even with Prime if they are just doing fulfillment for a 3rd party. Check out the 3rd party with Garrett.
Great, informative video. 🙂
great info, thanks!
You’re welcome.
Thank you for the info.
what was the fake companies name
China. 😂
@@wkcinaz LOL
Thank you!
I got a ATMAX and didn't come with a pin pointer and got it from the states and I live in canada 😢
You can get one on Amazon, but read the reviews before ordering. 😂
Are the fake ones any good
Not really. They only last a short time and then they mess up. Some of them are ok.
Still making fake ones, I got mine today
Garrett should issue a registration number with every unit. If you can't register it then it is a fake.
They have one for warranty.
Thank you
You’re welcome.
So many fake chinese products nowdays mate..
Yeah. It’s to bad.
Let me guess the fake came from eBay
Amazon but close enough.
Only ever purchase off a reputable dealer
That would be the best thing to do, but some countries don’t have one.
i bought one and the box can be fake but the garrett not i order in PL
You can tell if you watch both of my videos on it.
Detector Warehouse sells real ones, FYI. Licensed Garrett dealer.
Thanks for sharing. I hope it helps others.
Literally just looked on there site and they are literally selling ones with lanyards same one he shows in this video
They look exactly the same, but the insides are cheap Chinese crap.
you are talking trashhh, mate !!!!!
If you think so then watch my follow up on the original one. It’s 100% true.
