I was a garrett users and ran apex for 3 years and most of time I couldn't run muti it was unstable most of time so always use single frequency plus I always went off sound and tones rather then numbers And now I use minelab equinox and never looked back
Thanks for all of your work on the Vortex and Apex Andrew. What you are showing is basically what I am seeing too. The Vortex is just slightly deeper and more stable here than the Apex but I was hoping for much more. I just posted a topic on Detector Prospector about the VX9 Multi frequency notching and weird target IDs and maybe why that is. Look forward to your input.
Good video ! The target IDs although better are to clumped together. Hopefully Garrett will get the issue resolved. The Apex definitely looked more in tune to what the Target IDs should be. Merry Christmas and stay in touch !
@southernrelicadventures Thanks, yea I think I personally like the Apex over the Vortex as it stands right now. Hopefully Garrett will make some changes. Happy Holidays
I’ve owned Garrett since the middle 90s but when I purchased a fisher cz6 a my MD life changed. My friends and I cleaned out the silver in local parks and to this day no matter which machine is used, very few silver signals are left:)
@ I’ve used several since the cz. I used the white spectra v3i, minelab explorer 2, Garrett at max, and now the xterra pro which I haven’t used in the field yet. It’ll be interesting to see how it does. I’m pleased with so far just playing with it in my yard.
My Etrac is 12 years old and still blows these away. I was hoping for something better from Garrett these days, especially with them having White's intellectual property.
At this point I still see no reason to buy a Garrett, they are very lacking compared to other detectors of similar price range. It would be nice if they would come up with a higher end machine that competes with other really good machines.
My first Garrett was the 400i,i found a gold ring on the first outing, multiple 18th to 21st century coins, loved it,still have it,i'm using the deus2 right now,but i still love that 400i,believe me Garrett will sort the gremlins,Peace out from Ireland.
I hunt by the tone. I usually hunt woods or farmers fields. I don't really care if I dig a barber or indian. I dig it all . Do not hunt parks because most have been gone over a dozen times over the years.
I agree in most cases I dig it all myself when on the beach or in the fields. Park hunters are going to need a more stable platform, so hopefully Garrett will get things figured out.

When companies bring to market a product with bugs - it puts a great dent in the reputation of the firm and craters the image.
Couldn't agree more. Hopefully Garrett will get the Vortex fixed.

Did you do the update on the Apex? When I did the update on the Apex it was more stable. Still the Equinox is a much better metal detector.
@RelicsRings hi 👋 I never updated apex I still own machine but moved to nox so not used since

@jeffmcclendon3835 Thanks Jeff, I know you have been doing a lot of testing yourself. Appreciate your write ups.

Depends, if you switch modes the numbers change. If you frequency shift, the numbers changes. It's got some issues to work on.

I used the Fisher CZ 6a in the early 90's myself. Great machine back in the day.
These machines seem years behind the other top brands on target ID.
@@kevinncj22 i agree

Thanks for posting all the information and demonstration. Happy Holidays.
@ohiofredl Thanks, Happy Holidays
great video! happy holidays to your family and you!
@NHbeachmetaldetecting thanks and happy holiday to you too.
I don't rate either , I'll stick to my Deus 2 . Good video thanks
Deus 2 is a great metal detector, have one myself.

@donaldphelps536 i was hoping they would release a top tier machine. Maybe next time

Yea hopefully Garrett will get the Vortex issues worked out.
the multi frequency range of the vortex (imo) makes it a toy detector
Yes I hope they improve the frequency range with an update.
It is a toy compared to the competition
@@Chuck-js8dyyes exactly what i mean
Nice video. Thank you and happy Hunting 👍👍
Happy hunting to you too
A very big difference between the two. Thanks for that information.
I hope it's helpful for you!
Thank you for showing.
Thanks for watching!
A Vanquish 340 is better than both IMHO...
Agreed
From what I've seen, I agree.
No 53 or 54? I wonder how many other ID numbers are missing.
@@misterbrent good question
I actually saw a chart someone made. There are a lot of missing numbers and that's unacceptable.

Пожалуй не стоит менять AT MAX на vortex?
great info vid mate
glad you found it helpful
Apex is better and that’s not saying much
Totally agree.
Apex has to be better because it has more buttons
Boa noite.
Podes fazer um resumo entre o vortex eo Apex?
Qual é o melhor em profundidade?
They're pretty equal in depth from what I'm seeing
I undertand, than yor for your attention.

GREAT....APEX VS VORTEX......
Who in their right mind would buy a Vortex? My 20 year old Explorer 2 would out detect the Vortex with the default programs.
@@Yakena1 I still use my explorer, it just gets heavier each year as I get older😂 but still one of the best detectors out there in my opinion.
@@alleyoop5185 I chuckle to myself when I hear people say the Legend is heavy. The Explorer is over 5 lbs, and my bicep is larger on my swinging hand!
100%. I run an Etrac to this day and it has never let me down in a dozen years. Hard to beat the Minelab FBS detectors.
Hopefully Garrett can make some changes and make it more appealing. I had a number of Explorers from the XS to the SE and they were great detectors.
your audio went out a quarter in.
@@peterleray6084 weird I watched the video myself and didn't experience that.
