My 12 year old Etrac has never let me down and it has features that this brand new Vortex doesn't. I had high hopes for Garrett with this unit and had considered getting one at first, but this thing is a DUD. Garrett has all of White's intellectual property and still managed to blow it on this one. I was anticipating a follow up to the V3i, but we got this instead...lol.
First time to your channel, and you were saying people don't watch till the end. I didn't. I made it 2 minutes in. Hello, PC. I don’t blame you for not getting the Vortex. It seems like they rushed to get it out, even though they are way behind the competition. It’s a shame for an American made product. I think Charles Garrett would have made sure his products would’ve kept up with the competition. My first detector that I still own is a Garrett Freedom Ace Plus, along with other single frequency detectors from the past. I own the Equinox 600 that I’ve had for 5 years now, and I still use it for saltwater dry/wet and water hunting. I also have the Equinox 700 and The Nokta Makro Legend Pro pack. This is all I really need. I’ve heard and seen good things about the Nokta Triple Score, too. Great back up machine. Great video. Liked and subbed to you. I live in Texas, myself. Take care of yourself. Happy Digz. _/👍🏻
@@luisvillarreal5262 hey, hows it going. This Vortex thing is really causing quite the stir. lol I always like my first detector which was an ACE400, still have it.
in my opinion - Shafts from pre carbon fiber held up really well, In my 25 year of detecting, I have NEVER EVER had a shaft break on me or a camlock strip on me. I have only seen minelab ears on coils break due to heavy use. Enter the carbon fiber shaft era, over rated. I have 2 nokta legend machines and a simplex both models have Carbon Fiber shafts and I tell you what it doesnt perform any better than its non carbon fiber nemesis. I still find the rings and coins using both models. non carbon fiber shafts can last you 15-20 years if you take care of them. for those heavy users opt for the carbon fiber just in case, but will break on you at some point if you are hard on your gear. as for bottle cap rejection, you can have all top of the line machines, but there is no machine out there that will handle both bottle cap rejection and give you a solid silver 1 dollar silver coin tone, it will mask the good tone GUARANTEED all the time. The only caveat to hearing a solid clean tone and rejecting a bottle cap next to it is only when you have both targets in line or level with each other, but real world scenarios are bottle caps are layered upon layers of soil and then large silver cents down a little deeper, make sense? you can see what i mean here watching Jeremys excellent Video here ruclips.net/video/yqV0TBgRv_U/видео.htmlsi=f9eQwXdmM_lsgCBF Bottle cap rejection is overrated, just pick up all the bad stuff and eventually you will get to the good targets that were masked by bottlecap rejection. So next time you go out, go ahead and turn off the BC Rejection and just hunt the place to death, it will produce. Give Garrett some time to make those updates happen, heck. the legend was full of glitches and shortfalls when 1.05 came out, it was bad. trust me! especially the update utility that was just pure hell for many end users that i had to make a tutorial on the update utility. This is the first ever though for a machine to be upgradeable from one version to another version, that is a game changer and innovative. Personally i have always been a loyal Whites Electronics Machine user until they closed down, i heard through the grapevine that this Vortex VX9 was a Whites Electronics design (took the idea from Whites VX3 or V3i model, perhaps even the 3 level spectrograph) but Garrett made some tweaks here and there and put it to market. probably one of the first machines to use wireless headphones too, that i can remember. just give it some time at least a year or so after initial public distribution and see what happens. I will say that Nokta is very amazingly quick at reaching to their field users and gathering intel and within days or weeks Dilek makes an announcement of the update feature coming out. so just be patient!
That Vortex sure is hitting the coins for me ! Deep ones too im talking deep silver dimes 7-10 inch range !!! I scanned over it with my triple score and not peep of a tone . I tried different settings on the triple score and just couldnt match the depth...The Vortex is putting more power into the ground ! Say what you want but the Vortex out performed the Nokta on that day even with it needing updates...
Ha ha ha ha 🤣.... To funny .... Last guy told me it is deeper than his Manticore. Funny thing is the Triple Score I have picks up 14" silver dimes with no problem.

I'm super happy Garrett was wise and didn't put a conductive carbon shaft on the Vortex, I've had to go and replace my carbon shafts as manufacturers starting following the ill-informed aftermarket trend of carbon shafts. I don't want a shaft that reacts as a target.
I haven't had any issues with any carbon fiber shafts. BTW they aren't conductive. I just tested mine with a metal detector in all metal and no response at all. Also it reads infinite mohns with my multimeter.
@@ProspectorsCache Carbon fiber is slightly conductive. It's been discussed and tested on those mean metal detecting forums Calabash goofball cried about. lol
@p1315 must not be conductive enough for a Deus 2 to see it at all. I swing a D2 over it in prospecting mode and the detector does not indicate anything. Also when I test it with ohmmeter it doesn't show any conductivity. So whoever told you that is incorrect.
@p1315 also the wire and ground are conductive. Detectors easily balanced those, so a carbon fiber shaft would also be balanced out and not affect performance.

You know what's one of the best salt water beach metal detectors...the one which set the modern day standard for salt water beach metal detector sensitivity to small gold (inspiring XP and Nokta to come up with their own multi frequency detectors)? Yup, it's the Minelab Equinox. You know what it doesn't have? Yup, bottle cap reject. It does have iron filters or bias as Minelab calls it...but you want to set that to 0, if you're looking for small gold on salt water beach. Sure, you'll end up digging some deep bottle caps once in a while...but that's metal detecting. Folks need to stop believing/regurgitating everything that goof from Calabash NC says. I'd write this on his channel but he bans anyone who disagrees with him, whining that they are "haters".
Maybe he is wrong about BC reject, idk, I never use BC on my Legend, but he did make a bunch of videos showing issues like the VDI scale on large silver, and Garrett suddenly is releasing an update for it, so love him or hate him, he did good getting Garretts attention
I agree with most of what you said. Bottle cap reject is nice though. If that was the only problem in the Vortex that would make it ok, but right now there are many more issues for a detector in that price range.
I watch many many Detecting channels and one thing I've noticed about CB. When he points out flaws on a detector usually the manufacturer comes out with an update to address some of those issues he shows. Idk you tell me.
Now, now Calbash does a great job, and he does have more expertise than most engineers out there when it comes to testing.
