Thanks, this is still my favourite hunt of all time, this area is now completely covered in sand (due to tidal shifts) and the targets almost completely inaccessible. Would absolutely love to have a day like this again. Cheers 😁

Well done M, that's why I enjoy water detecting rather than dry or wet sand. It's so hard to try find owners of bands, I've had alot with dates inscribed with 1950s, chances are they're long gone but I research them all. That really was a nice detect and I thoroughly enjoyed the excitement of the finds. All the best 😊cheers A
I tried really hard to find the owners of the engraved band, and honestly I almost had a match... right names (which were fairly uncommon), but ultimately not the rightful owners. There is a reasonable chance that the true owners have passed due to age for the same reasons you mentioned. Cheers A!

Thanks David! Great questions. They're not scared by the detector, in fact I often get curious fish coming up to look but just not in this particular spot on the day. The fish and also stingrays love that I stir up the sand, because then they potentially get an easy meal of whatever small critters I've just uncovered. I offloaded the lead mid-dive into a bag on the shore, it would have been too dangerous to carry the full amount in conjunction with my weight belt. The lead extracted today was equivalent to nearly five of my belt weights (which are 1.5kg each!). Cheers :)

I really want to! My surf coast is beautiful, but unfortunately it’s also quite dangerous for swimming and/or shallow diving most of the time. I have to watch the surf charts closely for safer opportunities. I’m travelling next week, so perhaps there’ll be some other spots I can check out that are calmer… cheers! 😄

The reason why this area was so target-laden would be that typically it is too dangerous to dive here, it's only on a rare occasion that the conditions are calm enough to allow for a safe treasure hunt. I'd been watching surf reports and tide charts for weeks in the lead-up so thankfully it aligned with a day off. A funny story about offloading the weights - typically I try to have a spare bag or bucket with me, but I'd forgotten to take one. A group of ladies were chatting on the beach and while they didn't have a bag to spare, one had an empty chip/crisps packet so I used that - the sinkers went from simply being salty, to salt-and-vinegar coated! I can only imagine what passers-by thought of a lone chip bag full of sinkers sitting on the beach while I continued my dive. Cheers mate. :)

Great finds WOW I find your videos verey entertaining thank you . Up here in southern Alberta Canada I haven`t been able to get out detecting since late October. Been a long cold winter. Still in the -teens at night, Ground still covered in snow but maybe in the next couple of weeks I will be able to get out. Getting cabin fever LOL

You really DID have a fantastic hunt! The water is SO clear! Your gold ring is so cool! I found one that was lost in 1952 and the wedding date was 2/14/13. I used Ancestry to find the family and was able to return it. If you have initials, Ancestry has a search that only uses initials. And that aquamarine is amazing.
Great job on the successful return, Marti! I don’t think I’ll have enough info to do the same with this one unfortunately - at one point I thought I had the couple identified but it turned out to be right names, wrong dates. The aquamarine ring will definitely be restored, it’s a perfect fit for my hand. 😊 Have a lovely weekend!

Welcome aboard! :) Yes that's definitely the thrill of the hobby, research can help place us in the right sorts of areas but we never truly know what'll come up until we seek it. It is mid-winter here at the moment so sadly it's a bit too cold to dive, plenty of land and sand digs to keep my mind active between now and the next season though, maybe even some wading if I'm feeling brave, lol. Hi there Carl, thanks for watching! Re: the headphones, no, I wouldn’t dive without them. The water pressure on the external speaker would impede the sound, and I’d never hear it over the top of my Nemo system. A good underwater headset makes a very significant difference. Cheers!

Great finds WOW I find your videos verey entertaining thank you . Up here in southern Alberta Canada I haven`t been able to get out detecting since late October. Been a long cold winter. Still in the -teens at night, Ground still covered in snow but maybe in the next couple of weeks I will be able to get out. Getting cabin fever LOL
Thanks Wally! We are heading towards our winter now, the water has already dropped a few more degrees since this video so I'm already in a dive hood and (as of next dives!) a thicker suit as well. It doesn't quite snow where I am though. Hope you can get out soon!!

You really DID have a fantastic hunt! The water is SO clear! Your gold ring is so cool! I found one that was lost in 1952 and the wedding date was 2/14/13. I used Ancestry to find the family and was able to return it. If you have initials, Ancestry has a search that only uses initials. And that aquamarine is amazing.
Great job on the successful return, Marti! I don’t think I’ll have enough info to do the same with this one unfortunately - at one point I thought I had the couple identified but it turned out to be right names, wrong dates.
The aquamarine ring will definitely be restored, it’s a perfect fit for my hand. 😊

Welcome aboard! :) Yes that's definitely the thrill of the hobby, research can help place us in the right sorts of areas but we never truly know what'll come up until we seek it. It is mid-winter here at the moment so sadly it's a bit too cold to dive, plenty of land and sand digs to keep my mind active between now and the next season though, maybe even some wading if I'm feeling brave, lol. Cheers! :)

Hi there Carl, thanks for watching! Re: the headphones, no, I wouldn’t dive without them. The water pressure on the external speaker would impede the sound, and I’d never hear it over the top of my Nemo system. A good underwater headset makes a very significant difference. Cheers!
