Piedmont, Wyoming by Drone (Home of Calamity Jane)

Piedmont was once a thriving railroad town in southwestern Wyoming. Founded in 1867, it was the childhood home to Calamity Jane and hangout for Butch Cassidy. The area is open to visit, but it is privately owned.
Frisco, Utah by Drone (Once a metal detecting dreamland)
Просмотров 2978 месяцев назад
Located in southern Utah, Frisco was one of the wildest boomtowns in the West. However, it's glory days were short lived, and when the Horn Silver mine collapsed in 1885, it marked the end of a decade of prosperity and fortune. The town has been heavily looted over the years, so the chances of finding Mormon gold are pretty slim. Still, it's a cool place to visit!

How to find arrowheads with a metal detector
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Is it possible to find arrowheads with a metal detector? The answer is yes! Although most arrowheads are made of rock and won't register on a metal detector, there are a few exceptions. During the 1800s, settlers in the western United States fashioned some projectile points out of iron, copper and brass. These points were then traded with some Native American tribes. It's also believed that Nat...
Which is the best metal detector? Minelab vs Garrett
Просмотров 19 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Is there really a difference between the various brands of metal detectors? Is a property ever detected out? After using a Garrett AT Gold for many years, I decided to buy a Minelab Equinox 800. I then went back to some older properties that I had detected before (other people had hit them too). You'll be amazed what I found!

Finding GOLD & BIG SILVER at a pioneer home!
Thank you for a great video
Mine came with my Ultra package. I use it as much as I use my Garrett Carrot. I like the seperate tones for ferrous/non-ferrous targets.
I’m pretty partial to the Carrot, but I am intrigued by all the features of this device. I want to try it out in a river to see just how well the ferrous/non-ferrous option works.
Helpful video! I like the sound of the Minelab.
Thanks! It’s a good device.
Really liked your video it was straight to all of the points! Just ordered my EQ800 on Amazon and waiting for it impatiently! Liked and subscribed!
Glad you enjoyed it. I think you’ll really love the Nox. Best of luck to you!
You just made my mind up, thanks man. I was looking at the 900 and the manticore and frankly, I don't think I need them. Heading to the detector shop today. Thanks from merry England.
I’m glad you found the video helpful. The 800 is a great machine. I think you’ll enjoy it. Best of luck!
@@mdutah-insearchofmormongoldThanks, I got one yesterday, drove out to the east coast and collected it with a few accessories such as pin-pointer, spade, finds pouch. There is an offer on here, the machine came with a 6 inch coil for free. 😊. Happy hunting 😊
@@phoebelalaSounds like you’re ready to go. I hope you find some amazing things!
coins laid on top of the grass to gain a reference for detection response is bogus-experience will prove my point. the greatest factor in successful coin hunting is finding and accessing places to hunt. Period. Finally, don't EVER tell anyone if they ask what you're doing...make something up
Haha! Locating utility lines? The video is meant for beginners and a reference for what different coins may sound like. The real world is much more challenging but you make a good point, it’s all about finding great properties to detect.

Can you please please reply- I lost some gold in house roof cavity- will a metal detector work there.. as lot of metal wiring electricity insulation dusty dark etc already there… please help please
Yes, but you’re going to run into a lot of interference with the wiring, nails and any other metal in the structure. If it’s a smaller space, I might suggest using a handheld pinpointer to try and locate it.
The best detector is the one you know and understand the best.
There’s a lot of truth to that statement. You can may the most expensive detector ever made but if you don’t take the time to learn how to use it, it won’t do you much good.
Best pinpointer ever made
Thanks, I appreciate your input!
GREAT review!!! Thanks so much!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
👌Your video is excellent.my brother,I have one question that is this pinpoint detector can identify the gold?
All of them will detect gold to some degree. For example, gold rings or nuggets. It gets a little trickier with smaller items like earrings or flakes. I haven’t specifically tested these on those types of things, but I’ll try to incorporate that into my next video.
Just ordered an Equinox 800. Used to metal detect with a White's XLT 20 years ago. Getting back into it and enjoying your videos. Congratulations on a great find!
Thanks! I swung a Garrett Gold for ten years. Great machine and I found a lot with it, but the Nox is amazing. I think you’ll really enjoy it!
This isn't live, just recycled stock footage for views.
Should lights flash from the 3 little holes on both left and right headphones or just one side.
Just the side with the buttons.
Kiss My Grits..Lolz 😝 You are probably the only person in the United States who has that pin.
Haha! Or at least in the West!
Awesome video… Thanks heaps and happy hunting 🍀☺️
Thanks! Best of luck to you!
Thanks for a great video to get someone started. Just unboxed the machine and its charging. Really looking forward to some hunting with this detector.
You’re going to love it! I’ve had a ton of success with it.
Great video!!!
Thanks! It’s a cool way to display your coins so they’re not just sitting in a box somewhere.
How much
The less expensive ones run about $20. The top end brands are between $120-150.

hit lots of silver with my old whites idx pro garrett at pro use 13 inch coil found copper ajuster brass ajuster for a kersine lamp from 1800 live in this house still have not run out of targets home was built from civil war he fought in home from 1890
Yeah, I don’t believe a property is ever completely detected out. Best of luck to you!
Brother help me please because i bought the fake fisher bug metal detector for six monthes now i cannot detect anything
I’m sorry to hear that. I’m not that familiar with Fisher machines. I know some detectors can be frustrating, especially the more inexpensive models. Maybe you should consider moving over to a Minelab?
@mdutah-insearchofmormongold Thank you for your response can you please help me to know the original minelab gpz7000 is how much and how to get it?
Zboncak Shore
Any of them will work the GP is junk
That’s a fair assessment!

For those who do not know, the mercury dime is solid silver. So this is a test on non-ferous metals.
Good point!
Confused 😮, please just to the point, which one the Best ?., please tell me, thank you
There are pros & cons to all of them. I like the Pro-find but I’ve found my go-to is the Garrett.
Please I confuse , I want the detector gold machine , which one the Best one?. And Easy to understand, please tell me soon , thank you
It depends on how much money you have to spend. I love the Equinox 800. It’s a great mid-grade machine for a decent price. If money isn’t an issue, I would buy a Manticore or Deus 2. Garrett also has a new model out that may be worth looking into.
Great video and well explained
Thanks!
that thumbnail is the biggest lie ever, no woman has ever looked at a coin collection like that
Haha! So true!
nice finds ! quick question for you. Do you think heber valley by park city is a good spot for hunting? Just wondering if your knowledge of Utah would say its worth my time or not ! Thanks and happy hunting !
There’s a lot of rich history around Park City. I’ve never detected that area but I’m sure there are some good spots. I would drive around and knock on a few doors to see if you can get permission to detect some of the older properties. Also, do a little research by looking at old maps. Best of luck!
Excellent tutorial! THANK YOU!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Hello 1 question: good or not for salt water ??? Merci
Go to about 2:50 in the video and you’ll see how to retune it for salt water. I don’t live by an ocean so I’ve never actually tried it in the field.
It’s a pain to turn on and off can’t stand the one button
Yeah, that one button controls everything. It takes some getting used to.
@@mdutah-insearchofmormongold I got it you have to time it which is kind of a hassle
@@markkus1134 Yeah, while making the video I was constantly having to click through the different controls while trying to time it correctly.
Can you use them at gravel bars on river?
Yes, but there may be some limitations. As you know, rock is a dense material so it can affect depth penetration. Also, gravel can sometimes cause erratic signals as it tends to break up the signal.
Wish I had watched this review earlier. I’ve always used the Garrett Propointer, however I find they don’t last more than 6 months before being becoming erratic. Gone through about 4 of them. They’re good whilst they are working. I tried a Mine-lab next, it was hopeless. That 1 lasted only 2 months before going erratic. Now bought 2 x GP propointer, they are not sensitive at all. You basically have to be right on top of the target before it registers. They’re both destined for the bin. Looks like I might try a Fisher next!
I appreciate you sharing your experiences with the different brands. You may want to look at the XP or Nokta. I’ve done reviews on both of them but haven’t used them in the field yet.
The hair😂😂😂😂
Excellent !
Thanks!
Hard to say if you did not swing your at max over exact same ground area as signal found in video. For definitive proof, you should've brought the at max along at the same time.
That’s a good point. I had detected those properties multiple times over the years with the AT Gold. I’ve had similar experiences at other places as well. I’m convinced the Nox is a better machine.
Hello, I have Minelab Pin point 40 and it´s very, VERY moody. Yes, it can detect everything, it works well. But it will point to false targets, it´s unbehaved (while he start freaking out when I nudge into it, during sudden movement and it starts to detect something and suddenly - nothing). It´s true, when the target is there, it worked everytime on every metal. But it´s very, very annoying to constantly turn it on or of, double checking if there is something and mostly it´s false alarm. Is Garrett better than this or it has other misbehavings? Thank you!
I’ve used a Pro-Find 35 in the past. It was dependable but my go-to is the Garrett. The only real issue I’ve had is it will sometimes turn off but not detect. I simply have to restart it. I have heard other people complain about having problems with Minelab Pinpointers.
Thanks for the video!
Hope it helped! Best of luck to you!
Quite sad cuz I was thinking it could get it on the high sensitivity on like 4 inches or more
One thing to remember is the end of the tip is not the most sensitive part. The most sensitive part is about a 1/2 inch up from the tip so hypothetically, you could get a little more depth detection if it’s on an angle.
@@mdutah-insearchofmormongold Oh, alright thanks
the thing about us metal detectorists is that we actually pick up the trash and make it cleaner! ya, we can did up the ground a bit but if we are good at the unspoken rule, we will put the soil back. ;)
For sure! I definitely “collected” a lot of trash on this hunt!
How much is it and how do I get one?
They run about $139. You can pick them up on Amazon, eBay or from metal detecting dealers. A Google search should point you in the right direction.
Minelab us #1, Garrett not even close.
Garrett is great, but I really love the Nox!
