the thing about us metal detectorists is that we actually pick up the trash and make it cleaner! ya, we can did up the ground a bit but if we are good at the unspoken rule, we will put the soil back. ;)
found some myself years ago. They are called hot rocks, they usually have like veins or some type of metal material in the rock. My detecting friend also tells me there is lodestone and they are magnetic, but color black and shiny. Good hunt, seated and merc makes a good detecting day!! Those trails and water holes always give back!!
nice finds ! quick question for you. Do you think heber valley by park city is a good spot for hunting? Just wondering if your knowledge of Utah would say its worth my time or not ! Thanks and happy hunting !
There’s a lot of rich history around Park City. I’ve never detected that area but I’m sure there are some good spots. I would drive around and knock on a few doors to see if you can get permission to detect some of the older properties. Also, do a little research by looking at old maps. Best of luck!
Interesting, I’ve just never come across them before. What threw me was they were with the cross and there was no shortage of similar looking rocks that didn’t register in the same area where I was detecting.

For sure! I definitely “collected” a lot of trash on this hunt!
Indeed!🫡😊 Also in Europe.

Thanks, I appreciate your comments. I tested them and they don’t appear to be magnetic. Certainly unusual though.
Awesome finds! Congrats!
Thanks!
Are the rocks magnetized? Check for that if you saved them.
Just checked them. They don’t appear to be.
@@mdutah-insearchofmormongold maybe over time metal of cross transfered small bits to the rocks ?

Hot rocks in Minnesota as big as a house

Hot rocks. Iron content in them. Look it up.
Yeah, someone else mentioned that. Very interesting.
