HEY K'S S.S.,, GLAD TO WATCH THE BEGINNING OF THIS 63 CHEVY ,, MY SON MAX 9 YR.S OLD --AND--I DAD .,, SAW PART 2 , ENGINE RAD. GAS LINE , SHOCKS , AND FRONT END ,, GREAT NEW VIDEOS ..THX..
Had to go to the garage and warm up the lake pipes on my 63.
Great video. Keep em coming, especially enjoy the 63.
My first new car was a 63 Impala SS. I ordered it from the factory with the 300 hp 327 engine. 4 spd. trans, 4:11 posi rear end. And 5 factory chrome wheels. Total cost, $3502.69. Not much more than a cart of groceries. Fastest 1/4 mile time, 105 mph in 13.56 sec. Never beaten on the streets. Loved eating up the Mustangs. The day I picked it up, I took the 327 emblems off and put 283 emblems on it. That used to really piss off the Ford guys. Getting beaten by a 283. LOL.
I'm only cringing because I'm 62 and I do this for a living, and a Chevy man for life. It hurts me to see younger people go thru what I do to these cars every day, when they are not accustomed to. I commend you on your work! Great car ! Ive had a couple of them!
This is my all time favorite Chevy ever made!! I dont exactly know why, I just love the look of the 63! A one year only body style that is unique and beautiful in my opinion!!
The sound brings back memories of how the old impalas sounded. Good luck. Look forward to more videos about this car!!
More to come!
These cars are beast. Great find. The old is in good shape and worth getting her back on the road. 😎🤟🚗
THAT car is BEAUTIFUL AMERICA ,BADASS THANKS 4 fixing the work of art 🇨🇷🐺 🌕🇺🇸
Nice job rescuing the 63 Impala, Jack, RI, USA
Enjoyed the Video, My first Car Was a Red 63 Impala, Great Memories
Love those 63's
good show. Good 2 see young guys doin what i used 2 do.😎👍
I liked the way you approached this project. Everything you did seemed to be correct and in the right sequence as I would have done it. Had one just like it back in the day. I envy you, and this project. 80 yrs old now but appreciate your work.
Nice work getting this old Heavy Chevy up and running.
Nice Brother, stoked on your find.... She's a Beaute!
I love 63 Chevies, I own a Belair for 42 years and an Impala: The one circle brake system was standard at the time. My Impala had neighter power steering nor power brakes. The steering was updated the power brake will be put in soon. At least you have space for a huge battery. My fullsize Pontiacs do not have this space for a very big battery. My stupid standard phrase is: Of course it will run, it's a Chevy. And I am nearly always right: Time to watch on to see if I am right this time.
Im so jealous! I love this car! Im currently doing a 70 Monte Carlo that is amazingly straight, but just had rust under the vinyl top that ruined the roof skin but, the rest of the car is amazing!!
My grandfather owned the same car. I remember riding in it . Great memories.
On that starter solenoid, all you have to do is turn that copper bolt 180 degrees to pick up a whole new surface and if possible turn that copper contact washer over too. A very cheap fix for a starter that won't engage. Oops, I guess I didn't wait long enough into your video.
I had a 64, same color as that one. 283, power glide. Leave the power glide in! Don't swap it out. The frame on yours is nice. LP3 is a great corrosion preventative. Spray inside that damn box frame. They are notorious for rot. Do inside the rear fenders and pull the upholstery next to the back seat. Spray LP3 in there. From there you can get into the rocker panels. The spot under the door is open to the rear window compartment. Spray inside the lower rear edge of the trunk lid. If your tail lights screw up, check the grounds. The old sockets were not so good. I'm watching and have fun. These are nice cars. Oh, put power brakes in it, easy job. Power steering isn't hard either. Stay stock.
You know this was A Nice Payday for ever use to own this Chevy.😄
Had a 1965 in high-school. Friends called it the lead sled. Great car with the 327 and power glide transmission. Kid I sold it after many years of use actually flipped it over in an accident. Made my heart hurt 😢😢😢
Those hubcaps are for a 65 impala. Nice find and great video
That 63 Chevy Impala SS is worth investing money into n with the engine rebuilt n new upholstery n rechrome the chrome on the body n a new paint job silver as the base coat only one coat n red pearl about 14 coats n 11 coats of crystal clear coating to seal the Red pearl color it's worth the money.
I see you have some Cornwell Tools in your shop. I sold tools for almost 40 years and now my youngest son is a Cornwell Dealer in Colorado. Great company. Far better than all others.
That's a rare find, I bet that 327 will rip. Can't wait until the next video.
It has the Power Pack heads on it too, partial closed chambered heads. Slightly higher compression.
Awesome find! What a great job you’re doing!
my dad had a 64' Impala SS with a 396. The ole Impala. is still pretty quick for the age. Dads friends tell me dad was hard to beat on the local drag track back in the day . Its still in the family, My uncle has it now .
396 wasn't till 1965
@@WilliamTCraft True but Dad bought the car in 68 or 69 with a blown big block . maybe a 409? & he had a 396 in the farm shop at the time. thats the engine he replaced the blown Factory big block with .
I had a 63 SS impala with 409 4spd car was fast back in late 60s
I can tell ya Dads ole impala SS can still light the rear tires up after all these years. 🙂
You can get rubber plugs to cover those holes on the intake…
My 62 SS also sat for 35+ years and was miraculously not locked up. The floor pans were nonexistent though and it was in rough shape
Great work!!
my dream car.. they're so rare in europe, to afford one you need to win the lotto or something :X
My Dad's first new car was a 1963 Impala red with a white top 4 doors 283 power glide transmission
Nothing sounds like a Powerglide.I have a 1967 Camaro R.S. that I put an older 283 and power glide in. I've had it for 40 years or so and haven't decided if I like driving with the 2 SPD. yet. 🤷♂️ When I was younger I considered a big block with a 4- speed, but it never happend. The Powerglide is cool in it's own way.
This should be at least the 300hp 327, being an SS. IIRC, there was also a 350hp version, which, being an SS this could be, and I think the 375hp would have been the fuel injected version. My dad had a 63 Impala that he would race on the weekends. Several guys had ordered them as weekend warriors. There were enough of them that the local drag strips had a class called "Chevy 300" for the 300hp 327 Impalas. A reasonably budget friendly way to drag race back in the day.
Shouldn’t the heads be camel humps for 300+? It looks like an old truck motor got dumped in it. Just my experience with 327’s.
@@davidgalvan3645 The camel humps were designated as FI heads
You could also get the 250 hp.
300 horse also had mandatory dual exhaust. This car did not. Also no double hump heads, and it should have had a factory carter AFB.
@@davidgalvan3645 That's what I would have thought too, and I didn't see humps on this one. Seeing as how I'm an Aug. '62 model myself, and the car would have been built somewhere from about that time until I was maybe 9 month old, I only VERY vaguely remember the car. I do know it was ordered with a 4-speed and posi. It was delivered without the posi, so that was installed by the dealer. I think they would let them jet the carb and play around like that a little, but not do anything internal, so that it was basically down to driving skill among guys with the same car.
I had a magazine one time that SHOWED all of different versions of the 327 they are bad ass SMALL block's. And I seen the first atlest I think the 365 was chevys first V 8 so think about this THAT SAME BLOCK MADE ALL of the chevys small block engines all made from ONE block THAT started it ALL JUST CHANGING bores and strokes over the years that's awesome
The motor cleaned up good !!
That 327 deserves a 4-speed. Round up the change-over parts and a Rock-crusher....it'll be an exiting video. That engine/transmission whine will be sweet...
Very cool car.
I have pretty much the same 327. Nice strong engine
Give that stsrter a littje live tap. Just a suggestion. Good luck with your project. That is a great looking old chevy. The SS Is getting to be a very rare to find.
Are we going to check the oil level ?.
this Impala SS deserves a better life,a wash on the underside would help a lot, sorry for my comment but here in Brazil it is so difficult for us to have a car like this to restore...good job to you.
That’s the plan! We are getting a bunch of parts ordered for it and we will go through the entire car! Stay tuned!
Nice!. I just got a 63ss with a 327 auto
It runs bt im goin to do what you did and get it on the road.. my has some qtr rust.
Your is mint!
You should let us hear the sound from the back of the car. You need to change your oil and you could put JB weld on the little hole on the radiator and check the brake fluid! What is the oil for? Did you even check it? And you could get 415 and paint it over to rust it will stop it and it will make the car look a lot better.
I had a 67 Chevelle it had manual steering and brakes hard to park in some spots not to mention getting het slowed down 😞
That Powerglide whine, put a TH350 in my 65 front a 72 Nomad, miss the old iron!
Love the Powerglide Wine, cool car
The head's on that 327 looked like the powerpac version, small valves but high compression.
Yeah, 1.73 intake valves.
Nice car love it
great car! hello from Canada !
Back when the BowTie Company Made quality cars.. nice job😅
I had a 63 impala. I sold it. Glad I sold it. I am not a chevy person.
If it wasn't that i love 63 Impalas When i seen the Pudin T i almost left.
how much are you gonna ask for it? I might be interested. For old times sake.
Really nice car, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Great video and car, subscribed😎🔥🇧🇻
A guy I knew in high school had a 1963 Impala with a 409 in it with a 3 Speed…wanted to put in a 4 speed..
I cant even beleive the 3 speed lived behind a 409.
If you had a documented car with that setup now..
.
Darn! It's not the 300 hp 327 with those heads. It would have the camel back 1.94 intake heads.
It’s probably the 327/375 hp with that large carb…maybe the same one that was in the 1970 Camaro..
Should have changed the oil before letting it run for a while ..Flush the engine and change fluid and brakes..
That's a 327 small block.
Think he was referring to the brick as a big block carburetor...
thank
Once you put the rear chain on the tension is to much for the bb yor pulling to hard on on side so it so it's screwing up the bearings and it loosens everything
These do not have subframes. One frame front to rear. These are "X" frames. What you went over with the trans lines was just a crossmember.
Great car. I've had a '64 and two '65 Impalas and currently have a '62 Biscayne and '96 Impala SS.
I understand the chassis on these cars, just said the wrong thing haha. I work on modern cars 5 days a week so sometimes my terminology isn’t 100% correct with the old stuff
Anytime dealing with points Always clean first.
i have a friend that has an ss 63 that has been in a shed for over 45 plus years anotherr friend has 3 ss 63 in a shed been over 40 tears and a 68 mustang will they sell them no
This was an awesome video
How come there's no factory tachometer in the dash at the base of the steering wheel, do the 63 SS, not have it, I know the 64's did, whether it was a 4 speed or automatic
Great video thumbs up
That was a factory option
Nice rescue. Just noticed the engine wasn’t running on all 8. Hope you took care of that
It runs super smooth, definitely seems like it’s on all 8
DREAM CAR
I see your representing Ole puddin 😊
Always!!
@@ksspeedshop imma let him know he's hanging out in Cali 🤘
ATF in cylinders will help bring the rings back around .
You know there are 3 or 4 versions of the 327 even up to 350hp nice old ride that doesn't need a hole BUNCH of major work
The white one I dragged out of the bush in 99 was last tagged in 74 or 76. I tore it apart then gave up and sold it 😢 The rear quarters were rough and the driver's floor was rotted out, but the paint was way better than this one!
Good job kid, it's a small block not a big block like you said.
That was a joke about the clay brick sitting on top of the engine.
Got them sweet puddins fab shop shirts on nothing like some sweet patina
In the beginning of the video we had on my shop t shirts, but yes later in the video I was wearing a puddins fan shop t shirt ! Gotta support!!
that was one of there better years for them or 62
My 63 was the same but I owned it back in 74=75, I never should of sold it. Now I have a 68
For sale?
I was gonna say 327 had 1 back in day with bolt on oil filter
You don't even know what you have...That is a 327-325 hp 4-speed Limited Slip Bucket seat Fully gauged 63 Impala. The MOST DESIREABLE 63 Impala Made....Worth a Fortune in it's ORIGINAL CONDITION! If you Low rider that car YOU ARE A FOOL! Second only to the 409 4 speed!
With those heads, it's more likely to be 250hp. Camel hump heads were your 275 hp and up. I believe it ended at 375 hp with the Corvettes.
There's some degree of irony in calling someone a fool and then proceeding to make a number of false claims yourself. The car clearly has a powerglide, so I'd love to know where you're finding the extra gears. Further, there was no 325HP option for the 327 in '63. The only 327 options were the 250HP and 300HP. The power pack heads as seen in the video are correct for the 250HP, as is the single exhaust.
1965 hubcaps
They are not the 1963 factory SS wheel covers. They are 1965-66 SS wheel covers.
😢area looks beautiful..where are you located? Northern California?
Yes northern CA !
If you don't keep her sell her to someone to rebuild her and give her life
Had a 63, went to the Marine Corps, came bace home and it was gone!
Pop had a 63 just like your.
They called them best hydraulics lowrider there ever was x frame panhard bar
Gm solenoid are interchangeable between those two starters are messing with .why are you wasting your time tearing apart solenoids when you can just switch the solenoid from the other starter ?
Nice car I had atleast 5 1965 impalas yall doing what I used to do good for yall make sure you listen to us old timers we been there cool Chevy yall
Canadian frame🤙🏼
I can’t believe every time I watch these videos they start the engine with old oil and filter
Why put fresh oil in an engine that doesnt run?
The old oil has the zinc the cams need.
sounds like u have a dead miss that carb look like a spreadbore back beals will not open take off the adapter
Thanks for the tip, I noticed a plug wire fell off after we drove it!
I am from a country town a man in my town had one candy apple red white interior
not bad
With so many car restorations and complete mechanical videos out there I don't see anything spectacular to make me subscribe to your channel. Other than you wiping it down with wax and only completing it halfway and not the whole car. Pressure washing and half-hazard cleaning of the interior. I am a classic car aficionado and I like watching videos of cars being worked on back the way it was as a classic. No offense, but you need to do more with your car restoration projects to gain more subscribers. Good luck!
you said it's a big block not tru 327 is a small block 348 or 409 was big block
The big block was a joke about the brick on top of the manifold 😂😂
You missed 396, 402, 427 and 454 Chevy big blocks. I never herd of a 348ci.
well the 348 was a truck motor then gm bored it to a 409 I never forgot the others I was only talking about 1963 ,283,327,348,409
You should have pulled the end cap off the starter and at least checked the brushes due to their age - replacements are cheap !!
Hey c if U could get money back from the shirt 👕 from Mr, P. Ha ja ha ha ha 🇨🇷🇨🇷🇨🇷🐺🌕 just f-ing around what luck 63 🙏🏽
You want to sell it , I had one in Highschool 50 years ago only it was a convertible
Same color , inside, out
Not the best idea , to pressure wash the engine bay under blue sky , one drop of motor oil can conterminate 1 million liters of ground water ...
A gas station often has an oil seperator ...
Those look more like 1966 ss hub caps r 65 maybe 🇺🇲
