I traded a console stereo for one with a bent A arm. 348 4 barrel 3spd slush box, fenton DRAG Fast LINKAGE. what a monster. Red 2dr HT. white interior. The only time I was able to speed shift onto 2nd I won a tri power set up for it, summer of 71. Oh what a night it was, it really was such a night.
I’m an old Ford guy but I always have loved the old Impalas. That will be a great car… especially if you and your son can work on it together. I’ve been driving a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback for 53 years and it’s been a pleasure!!! I wish you the best of luck in getting it back on the road!!! The Old Army Scout…
1960 Impala. My dad had one. It's the car that I had my first ride in coming home from being born. Dad had the convertible. We called it the Batmobile. It's a dreamer!
Close but not a 59 my fav. Can't wait to see it moving on its own. Tell the truth, do you ever sneak out late at night and drive a running vehicle up on the trailer, just to see what it feels like 😂😄
I've got a 60 that I've had for many years. That should be a 235ci 6 cylinder. The distributor will move for the advance. Cool old car. I also see you have the blue glass. Very cool. Good luck with it. Paul
As a kid I remember sitting in the driver's seat of one of these. It was brand new. But never driving again. The car had been driven into a tree before it was a year old. My family had Ramblers, so that Impala was a rocket ship. A crashed rocket ship, but....
I had a 61 with the 283 2 speed trans when I was in high school, then when I went in the military my dad sold it behind my back , when I went home after basic and found out I was heart broken and mad as hell, to this day I have never been able to find another one
Cool old car brings back memories of my 67 Pontiac tempest custom sprint. originally had a ohc 6 cylinder engine which was replaced with as I recall but could be wrong a 292 Chevrolet engine 6 cylinder as well. It was a 3 speed on the floor with a hurst shifter I had swapped out the hood for a GTO hood becouse it look cool the car was black with white stripes across the bottom of the car and up front it said sprint between the stripes. It had some get up and go for a six cylinder. I swapped it for a 68 road runner later on.
Way back in mid-Sixties Southern California a neighbor owned a '60 Impala with a 348 tripower setup. I was working at a gas station and I'd bring him a set of used tires which he would oblige by burning them 'til they blew in the cul-de-sac.
Really good lookers, Love the wide vette style wheels on the back - scared about what they look like underneath - blue window tint on the package deal car is so cool
You're proof that "you can't keep a gearhead down". I'll be looking forward to the end result, and maybe Josh will accept that a six cylinder can be good enough. Those wheels are at home on the Impala, and the rallyes will be great on the Corvair. It's good stuff.
I bought my old 63 Impala 2D HT in 98 or 99. Dragged it out of the bush for $500. The guy had pulled the whole front clip off and yanked the 283 out and left it on the ground. I think he owned it 15 years but the tags showed last registered in 74 or 76, so I don't think he ever drove it. My dad and I rented a U-Haul trailer, and on the way home we stopped for gas and a guy that passed us turned around to come ask us about it! Anyway, I scrubbed off the moss and tree sap by hand, tore it apart (interior, trim, etc) but then gave up and sold it. Wish I'd kept it so that my kids could enjoy it too. Have fun!
I think we might be somehow related. I am similar in age, have a fleet of old VW's (some of them less than pristine), have rally wheels on my Corvair, daily drivers are Toyotas, have an old Chevy truck, garage full of parts, and one of my favorite cars is a '60 Impala, black with red interior! I would even have chosen those same rims... Freaky...
This car is more rare than you think. Most ‘60 Chevys with the inline 6 cyl, only had two taillights on each side. I like the three on both sides, with the backup lite in between. I thought the Impala came with the three lenses white backup between two red on each side with the middle being the backup lite. The belair came with two the two red lenses together on each side. This showed GM made all combos for the customers back then. I will never understand why the factory put 6 cylinders in some convertibles back then.
whaaat a beauty! you lucky guy! I remember a friend of my dad's was driving a panel 2cheveux in quebec and a 60 impala side swiped him slicing through the whole side with the wing !!! LOL
Excellent video Jason :) , son Josh :) that motor be 235 6 Cylinder , 283 in 2 barrel, 348 V8 motor but 327 , 409 were not till 1962 to 1964 ! But Power Steering, brakes was option to get plus Automatic transmission in Power Glide 2 speed Turbo 350 was till 1964 and 700SR 4speed Overdrive ones and Manual Transmission 3 in Tree on Column and 4speed on floor too option! Am plus Shortwave on radio was option, axle ratio was so of ratio get and 4 wheel drums too ! Yes I my grandparents on my mom side they had Lots Chevrolet Impala and Caprice cars in 2 to 4 doors! ! My parents had 1976 Chevrolet Impala LS 4 door in cherry red with Beige Interior 6 seater ! Plus basic model too !! Myself had 2002 Chevrolet Impala E-X car 4 doors I fix up my likeing in 2021 sold it to ! But tell never thought have Chevrolet Impala cars but I did and enjoy it !
Cool stuff guys Awesome project to keep busy with Love the Crager wheels always suit any car any year make and model, first fell in love with Cragars age 8 or 9 and have loved them ever since Good luck with it can see it’s gonna be a goodin Respect from New Zealand ✌️
I drove a 60 to school in 63, it was white with the black and white checked seats. It had a V-8 and was an auto trans. I thought it was a 283 but the guys at the dealer kept telling me it was a 327? In a 60? We did buy it used though!
They're rare, for sure! But I've seen Impalas up through at least 1967 with the six cylinder. I was always curious why someone would buy a large, higher level trim car like the Impala, yet not put at least a small block V8 in it. Probably for increased fuel economy, though it would be a dog with the PowerGlide auto transmission. I worked at a car lot in high school, and one of the cars provided (as part of my pay) was a black 1959 4dr Biscayne w/235 6 cyl. It was a beater, but, it got me around! My lifelong best friend owned a 1960 Chevy Impala convertible, red body, red & white interior, with a white convertible top. The drive train was a 283 V8 w/PowerGlide transmission. It was no racer, but was a great cruiser & chick magnet at the burger joints on weekends.
I bought the brother to that one in 1976 in Alabama. Mine had a white top 2dr 283 powerglide not a spec of rust on the old girl and ran like she was new.
Oh I love these old Impalas. Even if the engine is seized the body looks to be solid overall. It wouldn't be a 5150 video if you didn't have to do at least some digging! I will look forward to some more on this car. Strange that I didn't get a notification, that's the first time that has ever happened I think, who knows why?? Take care Jason, Jen and Josh and don't forget the poor dog, hope she has recovered from her ordeal and the house smells better? 👍👍
good to know you Guys hit the notification button ....thanks to your comment i went back and checked the details on the vid and the notify subs box was unchecked for some reason. Thank you for using the notification button .....haha, Stephen it's been so long it might be too dangerous to try that
Nice to see you still on RUclips and move it on to something other than Volkswagen and dirt bikes. They’re cool and all, but I think your skill set is being stifled by focusing on Volkswagens. Wish you the best keep up the good work. I also live in Massachusetts.
Definitely the more classical looking of the 60s big Chevys for me. But I always laugh about that body style having the name "Sport" in it and the 6 banger engine being called "Thrift" of some kind or another. LOL. Different times I guess.
Get up some speed on the highway and those wings would lift the rear. Could get a bit interesting driving down the highway. Definitely had some beautiful body style.
Its good to have you back, cant believe how much Josh has grown !! well,i gotta say, that Impala is a peach, love it... keep us posted on its progress !! Welcome back !!
I am an old hot rodder who had several fin cars. I lived as a teen in the sixties. A great time for car guys.
I was close but missed it , I bet it was !
Hell yeah, l was buying thesa great cars for nothing as a kid in the early 70s, nobody cared about them, just an old car
1967-8 high school bud had a 60 2dr ht red/red 348/3 on the tree [converted to floor] . beautiful car . i was driving a 60 t-bird at the time
I traded a console stereo for one with a bent A arm.
I absolutely love this car!!! The fins are cool! Black with red interior always looks great!
Awesome car. Had a 62 Impala 327 powerglide. Bought for $25. Guy said bad rod/crank. Had loose flex plate bolts.
Probably my favorite car ever. My uncle had that same black 2door when I was a kid with a 348 auto.
This has always been my favourite American sedan! Still looking good today!
one of mine as well, thank you
I love the 60 Impala, we have had 3 of them in my family through the years including a 60 Nomad that my dad bought new!! I want another one!!!!!!

I’m an old Ford guy but I always have loved the old Impalas. That will be a great car… especially if you and your son can work on it together. Beautiful Chevy Impala
Love those old Impala's, Body still looks pretty soild for a North East Car, Cool Project !
I was thinking the same thing, the car even though it’s got some rust on it is in some pretty decent shape.
1960 Impala. My dad had one. It's the car that I had my first ride in coming home from being born.
Dad had the convertible. We called it the Batmobile. It's a dreamer!
Close but not a 59 my fav. Can't wait to see it moving on its own. Tell the truth, do you ever sneak out late at night and drive a running vehicle up on the trailer, just to see what it feels like 😂😄
Hahahahaha! Been so long I’d probably send it into the tail gate
yeah, the 59's are amazing
I've got a 60 that I've had for many years. That should be a 235ci 6 cylinder. The distributor will move for the advance. Cool old car. I also see you have the blue glass. Very cool. Good luck with it. Paul

I'M AMAZED. Winch battery was charged. Seriously, great to see you and the apprentice again
I had a 61 with the 283 2 speed trans when I was in high school, then when I went in the military my dad sold it behind my back , when I went home after basic and found out I was heart broken and mad as hell, to this day I have never been able to find another one
Started humming the song from 1962 strange how the Night Moves with all them closing in
Look at that baby roll like its been sitting for 5 minutes. Like to see a little muscle under the hood. Nice find.
That was amazing !
Nice flat fin. I was 4 yrs. old when that car was built. You are rich.
My Mom had 60's Impala Wagon it was White with red interior it was cool!!

The pair is back. God bless you boys.
That’s a cool car. Loved those ever since I was a little kid (back in the ‘60’s).
Dad had a 60 . Us kids used to called it the 🦇"Batmobile "🦇
Nice !
J you can store 80% of the parts at your shop in that Trunk Guy ! Love the Impala
Haha! True ! Thanks

Great car J. Is your lady any good at washing cars ? Nothing better on a hot sunny day than a lady washing a car.
Thank you …umm, I don’t think she’s ever washed a car 😭
@@5150mxVWI think that’s somewhere is the husband’s duties handbook😂
Nice!! Black with red interior 1960 imp, bad ass score!✊
Thank you !
it s a amzing car good luck sir and the best from holland
Good example for your Son, you have to work for what you want!
Great find! A factory 235 six in an Impala is rare. I'd keep it stock, or if you decide to drop a V-8 in it, keep all the factory parts.
thank you, getting it going up and down the road is step one
Brother that is awesome car!!! And your getting another one??? Double Awsome!!!
Beautiful car!
1960 impalas are my favorite
My Mom Had A 64 Galaxi 500 ------- Fond Memories Of White Castle Burgers On The Rear Dash Stayn Warm In The Sun
Even with a 6 cylinder, should be easier to keep up with traffic than a Beetle 😅
Cool stuff guys
Awesome project to keep busy with
Love the Crager wheels always suit any car any year make and model, first fell in love with Cragars age 8 or 9 and have loved them ever since

My First and Favorite Car is the 1961 Chevy Impala Sport Coupe
Nice👍
Gorgeous car, I love it!
I was waiting for the leaf blower!
The first time I've seen an Impala with the 6-cylinder engine. That's got to be rare.

THE coolest steering wheel chevy ever made!👍😎
one of my fav rear designs and needs dual flame exhaust :)
Josh about to open the hood and I’m humming “She’s so fine my 40…” and it’s a 6… 😂

My mom had that same car in green straight 6 and 3 on the tree I learned to drive in that car in 1974
Awesome :))
Nice to see you still on RUclips and move it on to something other than Volkswagen and dirt bikes. They’re cool and all, but I think your skill set is being stifled by focusing on Volkswagens. Wish you the best keep up the good work. I also live in Massachusetts.
Look at the beautiful roof and front and rear glass on that car compare to what is built today
Yes :)))
At one time 59 and 60 chevy s were banned on the new jersey turnpike because they were unstable
That’s an odd looking VW engine 😂
Love those old Chevys!!
New to your channel, looking forward to seeing the build 👍
Thank you for dropping in and checking it out Robert
My dad had a 4 door version back in the day .
Nice 👍
