I agree I don’t understand in my opinion why collectors like to take original sheet metal from other cars to make one car when you could easily make the panels yourself and yes they’re not going to be original panels but at least it saves another car from being crushed I think it actually takes away from the collector hobby when you’re robbing good sheet metal off another car because you’re making that car a candidate for the crusher and it’s a shame because that’s one less left
Glad to see that 55 landed in the right hands to bring it back to life! Hope you can feature it in the future as the restoration progresses! The 65 is beautiful!
Nice video 5150, your friend is a class act for VW restorations. Old school. Great to see you two exploring wrecking yards to see what might come home. Love your work man
I can't believe how many VW's you are finding!!! I lived in CT in the 90's and scored a '68 bus hidden away in an old business (a business find vs a barn find) in New London and thought was a rarity, and you seem to just keep doing it!!
Man oh man would I like to pick Larry’s brains, I myself am taking delivery of a 65 Convertible this Saturday and although I’m new to air cooled I can’t wait to start bringing it back to life.
Jason, glad to see a new video was up!!! Was getting a bit worried. And then you made it all better when you pushed the bug around. And then you reached even greater heights when your buddy actually climbed Mt. Ever...😁er, uh, I mean the VW bus. Yup, I see more bus parts being rescued in your near future. Take care!! John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
Interesting stuff from Larry. That is how to do it if you want the car to drive straight! Looking at the convertible I think he will do a great job on this one. We had a spell where winter returned but that was a few weeks before you, maybe we sent it over the Atlantic with love from the UK. 😁 Thanks for sharing this update Jason, hope you and the family are well. Please keep them coming.👍👍
Nice ! 🙂👍 I remember there was a little import car garage in Canaan Connecticut across the street of a Chrysler Plymouth dealer the owners name was Bill what a character he was but he always had parts I needed for the old bugs I restored his basement was full of VW parts . I went down from Vermont one time and stopped to visit and he said check out the car I just picked up out back it was an all original 40k 1955 oval window Volkswagen beetle original cloth seats mouse hair headliner three fold ragtop paint wasn't perfect was alittle sun beaten like you see in texas but it was for sale for $5500.00 which was to much money for me at the time now it would be over $20.000.00 probably it was really a nice original car one other time I stopped he had out front a 1953 Corvette that was in a barn somewhere for years it still had the dust all over it it had sat for many years he said it ran but would need rebuilding. that car he was asking $5.000.00 This was back in the early 80s Bill passed a long time ago now I don't know if the garage is still there or not .Those were the days.
I remember when you guys got this car but i didn't see the second video i can't believe you guys got the car out of their wow great job dude love your videos love vw keep on keeping on
Dear 5150mxVW "J". 👍👌👏 Simply fantastic! It definitely looks as if the scrapyard rescue bug is in the right hands now. Well done. Your friend seems to be an extraordinary good restorer. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck and health to all of you.
I had a ‘69 VW , light blue . It stopped running in ‘75. I left it on a farm property Grange Hall Rd., Beavercreek , Ohio . What a dope I am for leaving it , young and stupid ! 15:14
I can’t tell you how many brake drums I pulled the last 3 weeks moving all these cars , priceless tool . Another one is the winch , one year Jen asked if I wanted a winch for Father’s Day . I laughed and said honey , it’s not I’m going to be dragging these things home all the time ....we still laugh about that one 😁
Hi CC , thank you , you as well....been busy moving cars off the property and getting thee mice out of all my trucks that sat all winter , unreal. Jen just had 6 days off and is leaving for Italy next week, I'd say she is good 🤣. Josh has been keeping me busy spring fishing , winter flag football wrapped up and spring baseball started ...J is tired lol. Good to be back , I'm looking to bring some new content this summer .
May she rust in peace/pieces ... Someone with a vision, the know how & the re$ource$ can work magic on the remnants of these air-cooled Volkswagen classics ... I, however, am not one of them - have to purchase road ready & drive on ... As always Jason, entertaining ... Going to get Josh involved in some of your VW projects ... Like father like son with the humor/subtle jabs ... Slainte' ! Cheers !
I have the talent to pull off the metal fab work on something like this 55 but no longer have access to a shop since I retired. Have also rebuilt near 400 VW engines over the years but only a couple of 36 and 25 hp engines.
TOOK 007 OUT FOR ITS FIRST DRIVE OF THE YEAR TODAY! The brakes locked up a little bit. I think it was the emergency brake? Having my mechanic drop by tomorrow to check the brakes for me. I could smell the brakes after I got home after my drive around the dam. Will let you know what’s wrong with the brakes. Roger in Pierre South Dakota
I’m sure many people will think you guys are nuts tackleing this Project but i personally do not I completely get it my Dad bought a Brand New 58,63, and 68 Beetle tha started him on a lifelong VW guy that passed th torch to me
here is the full rescue of the 55' if you missed it : ruclips.net/video/FUPK3iNrIfU/видео.html

Hello 👋 great video. Dig those two buses out, they’ll be fine 😊🇬🇧
Wow Larry's got some great VW. Looks like it's in good hands now.. Have a great rest of your week...
That cabrio is awesome! Breaks my heart to see that bus. Good to see you back!
These guys are so rare! It's hard to find anyone to do body repair, let alone this extensive work. Great video.

Oh man, I'm so pleased you saved this beauty. Ovals are getting hard to find!
Oh man! That pan jig! I am seriously envious of this tool.
Glad to see that 55 landed in the right hands to bring it back to life! Hope you can feature it in the future as the restoration progresses! The 65 is beautiful!

Those restores are done nicely!! I agree, a favorite of mine is also gray/silver with red interior!
That kombi is toast! A lot of work to even get to it! Those parts would be very useful!
glad you found a good home for it. I would have came and got it but cant get out there for a few months. so I know he will finish the car.
sweet find!
A lot of work needed but gone to the right person. Live his chassis to body jig Jason . Looking forward to your next purchase
Hope you and the family had a great Easter.
You as well Jaws
Love that 54. I have one very similar but a sliding rag.

Black beetle looks great
I was honestly wondering who would want to work on a car so far gone and then you said it!
Hell yeah man!!! And I thought my oval was rough!!! Haha Totally Rad video dude!! I was missing you!!!!!
I'd still try and save that bus at the end. Good for parts.

That bus at the very end, those scratches will buff out! It's nothing to worry about too much! Those tires still have 100,000 miles left on them! XD

🇲🇽Saludos desde la ciudad de Mexico ánimo y buenos vochos 🧰🚘

Oh, oh, do I see the rescue of a totaled bus coming? ;-) Good to see you, I definitely missed your vids. How's Jen and Josh? Everything okay?

In Brazil it is very difficult to find Beetle from the 50s .The 60's are pretty expensive.
If you put a Suit on you would be John Wick especially with the Shades on 😀
haha, i have been call KR a few times
Great vídeo, only for parts those bus

Hello mate 👍
Oval 🤘👍
I can't believe how many you've found 🤷🏽♂️
I think Mustie 1 could get that bus running
Save the white Cabrio please!😥🙏😀
i tried , check my videos
Trivia: Volkswagen of America was formed in April 1955 to standardize sales and service in the United States .
Save the van please.
How are you so laid back? Or is it all an illusion! Enjoyed the update!
haha, well my days of dressing like Rambo and riding Jaws to work everyday are long over ...I wasn't always so laid back lol.

Save the bus.......It'll buff out :)
See more Bugs. If they are German made, they deserve to be saved.
Definitely trade for that oval. Give him two single cabs.
TWO? , yeah might as well throw in Jen's 67 Ghia vert as well lol
Oh, take it easy J. It is Stratos silver after all🙂 and it’s not like you’ve done any real work on the single cabs.
@@snowdogs59 I got nothing on that 🤣
Amén 🙏

Will we be seeing progress videos of the restoration on the oval?
Hi guys. Is Larry's accent from Boston? Aussie here..
The junkyard jungle. One of you needs to dress and talk like the Crocodile Hunter for one of these missions.
Crickeeeeeee' ...
Those snowflake taillights if they have the original paint they’re worth a little bit
Worth more with the car 😉
So, your new neighbor didn't look at your lot before they bought theirs? To bad, So sad!
Sure, move in the complain to town ...I’m only speculating what happened but I’m good with it . It was freaking RIDICULOUS
@@5150mxVW I'd rather have a bunch of old cars in my neighbors yard instead of all of the crap they have laying around.
