There is available a plastic, spray can handle and trigger . It clips over the top of a rattle can and gives you greater control and comfort, using rattle cans. Saves the index finger from wearing out 😊
Your skills are Improving and your arsonol of tools are awesome. Do you know how much the stripped down body weighs? What lift Are you using? Thanks,Pete
I have been watching your renovation of the VW Beetle from the very beginning. Each part is very interesting! I hope you complete this project successfully soon. Good luck. I jelaous your talent and you technical abbilities. Best wishes from Poland.
Hey CT, old friend. Great to see you back on the beetle. You are doing some fantastic work on her. Always inspiring to see you on your journeys. Love travelling the restoration road with you. Cheers Guy. (iamhutt)
If you would use lukewarm water and add a little detergent or any soap, you could reach the next step in applying silicone or any other kit. But either way, we love watching you making a mess or whatever. Never stop. You’re getting there 😊
One of the last steps I recommend if before you have it ready to put wheels on it and drive away, spray the inside fender areas and bottom of the floor with some pick up bed liner. Nothing thick but enough to protect the paint and metal from being chipped by the rocks you kick up while driving. It also adds another layer of water and rust proofing. Love your vidoes. Been a while as Yahoo screwed up my subscription list but glad to see your back!
This entire build has been so great to follow. I appreciate you sharing the little details and what you've learned. Can't wait for it to come together!
I remember (way back) when you were pressure washing that car .. The paint label in the front cargo area said Perlweiß (Perl Weiss) -> Pearly White .. 😯not almond !😯 ...Epic Thumbs Up on the progress ! 😇❤
Great job on the fab of the patches CT! If you ever need to "crisp up" a curved bend line, a hammer, chisel and rubber mat will help bring definition to a difficult line. I'm sure I'll use that method at some point with the 356. You're killing it brother!
I don't understand why people pay a body shop a $100,000 for a two year restoration on a VW bus, when you can buy a damaged 2022 911Turbo Porsche from Copart for about 30,000, manifest, expect, accept, you deserve one brother, best wishes.
I'm old enough to remember walking to the VW dealership and buying some of those patch panels from the parts department. Those things that go between the fenders and the body used to come in rolls. It's called welting.
There is a stuff I can recommend for protecting the underside of the car: it's an asphalt - based coat that in Germany sells under the brand name "Teroson." What is interesting here that this is not a kind of lacquer or paint, but a spray - on flexible stuff that applies in a rather thick coat - it's meant as protection against sharp objects & moisture. I am certain that some similar products are on the market in the US as well. All the best & good luck!
Those square fender bolts you have work the same way as the shiny silver ones, they go on the backside and you hold them there then bolt the fender through it. they just look more OEM and tidy from the backside is guess
Like i mentioned that last tube just seemed defective, when you were applying it, it LOOKED dry and crummy. that new tube there is coming out way more peanut-buttery. lookin good.
Hey, mate - you're doing so well - I hope you're proud of your progress, you certainly should be. You've come so far!! You can buy new headlight bowls to weld straight in - no need to find a good used fender to take an old bowl from. I don't think WW do them, but have a look at BBT. The plastic strip that goes between the fender and the body is called the wing/fender beading. The fender nut thingy that replaces the little square bit that fell out - just make sure you push the threaded bit through from the outside to the inside. That cylindrical threaded bit should be visible inside the trunk, if you get me. The fender bolts up to the flat part👍. As to your dialogue at the end - yes you still have a long way to go and loads to do, but just look at how far you've come in a year, man! I remember the car being so full of twigs and raccoon poop that you had to literally fork it out with garden tools. It's great, we're all with you. Keep it up mate. x
I am thinking that maybe you can use epoxy panel adhesive for those nutserts in the fenderwell. Maybe hold them with a magnet while the adhesive dries.
Just a little suggestion. When cutting metal with snips, as a tin nocker ,get a pair good offset snips( lefts & rights. I prefer Midwest brand) never take your snips the entire way closed every time. That causes those little shark teeth along the lenth of your cut & that will tear you up. When you get good with quality snips you'll use them more often than any power tool. Practice practice with red in rt hand & green in left hand. You'll be amazed. Nice job on restoration. No criticism just passing along knowledge.
The strips that go between the fender & body are called “fender beading”. The headlight piece is a “bucket”. This seam seal job looked way cleaner. That other tube seemed dryer, at least in the video. Maybe it was old or the temperature was hotter? 🤷🏻
Why are you not using the rotisserie to do the restoration on the bug? I just purchased like yours and would like to see how you attach it to the bug body.
Hi CT, any chance you could show what the spare tyre area you welded looks from under the car? I'm doing that same area at the moment and would love to see what it looks like. Cheers, Bash
Use a brush to finish off the seamsealer, Thats hot it was done in the factory. Looks better, works better. Do a little bit a time, then you won't have problems with the seamsealer developing a skin in the heat and looking ugly when finished.

I vote that you paint this beautiful car. I do not know where we got the popularity of that patina thing.
google "patina vw" - it's a thing =) the 914 will be painted real nice!
The more i see you painting it the more I think you could go with a complete paint job.
Hard to “blend” a patina. I’ve seen numerous attempts. Most are terrible. Hard to replicate decades of natural wear.
Nice job you have been working ⚒️👍❤️🇵🇰❤️
... Patience is the key to this Restoration and you sure have plenty ... Thanks Coach CT !!!
you have basically HAND BUILT an entire car by yourself in a year! AMAZING!
just about! =) Thank you!
Metal skills are 🔥! 😎
Thanks Buddy! =)
Some people would look at this VW and never guess it's got a pretty nice foundation.
Yes, you really have to see the potential in something. It can be difficult sometimes.
Brilliant idea with tape for metal template 👍💯
Thanks 👍
Very satisfying build. Your narration and tone of voice add to the overall presentation.
Thank you kindly!😎😎😎
Glad you try the tip about the trick for make it easier with sealant =) it makes it a little easier 😊

best wishes from Germany
Thank you very much! =)
For all the work you’re doing. New fenders and a paint job would be a nicer look than the rust bucket look. That’s my feeling

45degree offset tin snips will be easier to cut with, also thanks for all your content
Really enjoying the videos. Watching you learn as you go on your own vehicle is inspiring.
i love the interior color. So nice.

Thank you! There are a ton of details! =)
I' m glad you used "dish cleaner water trick".
Everything is looking fine 👍 CT.
If you do the metal cutting without gloves , I can't look at 😯
Gasoline F or C is very good for smoothing the joint. ;)
Great job 👍. This is one cool Volkswagen ... keep up the amazing work 💪
Thank you! 👍
Thumbs up sir!
Thanks man!
It was a piece of scrap, but now it begins to look like a car again😂👍👍
Well done CT.

Hi CT, love the metalwork videos
Thanks Tim!
25mins in, the laugh when you realized the patch you cut looked like something else 😂😂
Great job done
Those fenders makes the car lightwheight😊
HAHA! =)

Top markotop..👍👍👍👍

Thank you! 👍
Those fenders came out cherry!!
Good.job. cool car VW
Great job CT, you can buy new headlight buckets and glue them in i saw Duckman do it, they are called fenderbeading.
Those square fender bolts you have work the same way as the shiny silver ones, they go on the backside and you hold them there then bolt the fender through it. they just look more OEM and tidy from the backside is guess
Great job 👏
Like i mentioned that last tube just seemed defective, when you were applying it, it LOOKED dry and crummy. that new tube there is coming out way more peanut-buttery. lookin good.
Yes, you were correct. I had two that were not good...The other two seamed ok.
Lol, nice Mustie reference😆
Those strips that you are calling spacers is Fender Welting. The rusted out part behind where the headlight goes is the Headlight Bucket.

don't worry about our patience. we love the process. Go as slow as you want.
they say the turtle wins the race....=)
ct old car looking good
The part behind the headlight is called "headlight bucket" you can still buy them im sure
In extreme high temps, body filler, primer, seam sealer, etc. can be chilled in a refrigerator and give you more work time.
Thanks CT get yourself some paint buddy
Dang man! Thank you! =) =) =)
CT bus rusty eddies to the grocery list to repair a rusty, the bus directions to the D4 while
❤
You are doing a very good job it very nice
Thank you! 👍
I am thinking that maybe you can use epoxy panel adhesive for those nutserts in the fenderwell. Maybe hold them with a magnet while the adhesive dries.

You can purchase replacement headlight buckets.
Thanks man! I might do that.

how is rusty when are you woring on him
It’s been sold
Dont forget to make a drain hole in the bottom of the wheel well in case water gets in.
The strips that go between the fender & body are called “fender beading”. The headlight piece is a “bucket”. This seam seal job looked way cleaner. That other tube seemed dryer, at least in the video. Maybe it was old or the temperature was hotter? 🤷🏻
Fot the rusted out headlight inner i believe its the light bucket CT i believe 👍
Always spray left and right not up and down, you’ll get a better spray pattern and better coverage
good tip thank you!
Great job as usually. I wonder If you have forget the "Trusty Rusty"😊? Regards Stig Österberg from Dalsbruk in Finland.
He sold Rusty.
Hey, impressive work! Can you share the dimentions of the body trolley? Looks awsome!
Thanks man! Yes, I will measure it today.
Why are you not using the rotisserie to do the restoration on the bug? I just purchased like yours and would like to see how you attach it to the bug body.
Looking awesome. How are you gonna do the interior?
He’s going to redo the whole thing. I told him he needs to get the new headliner in before he installs the window glass.
Great work. What welding helmet are you using?
Hi CT, any chance you could show what the spare tyre area you welded looks from under the car? I'm doing that same area at the moment and would love to see what it looks like. Cheers, Bash
Começando a ganhar forma.
Thank you! =)
Your axel boots need to be turned to the side Bolts toward the back Or they will split prematurely from up and down flexing of the axel
I use a epoxy primer when I have bare metal to help seal it in. But that just me. It’s a little pricey but worth it.
Use a brush to finish off the seamsealer, Thats hot it was done in the factory. Looks better, works better. Do a little bit a time, then you won't have problems with the seamsealer developing a skin in the heat and looking ugly when finished.
Are you going to sell it when complete?
not anytime soon! =)
I know you guyes call that thing Beetle in America. In Norway we call it bubble directly translated. Cuse of the shape and sound
That's interesting! It's does have some bubble shapes for sure. Thank you! =)
you could have used the template of the other fender and turned it upside down. would come out perfect on that lower rear front fender.

Any chance for pop-out windows in the back to stay cool, or business coup? Another awesome restoration video CT. Gotta love those VW's.
13:46 Be careful, my friend! - one awkward move and your wife will not need you...
You might try metal epoxy to fix the fenders. That way your not messing up the patina
yes that's a good idea.
👍🙋♂️
Great work but some gloves may help your hands not getting cut. 😂Anyway you are a professional restorer.
