How I adore this video, I cried a little bit watching it. At the same time, I feel very happy for you that you've made the right choice, your story left so much inspiration in me, I used to live in a city for around 7 months, and when I left it, I was broken inside. I hasn't had a chance to go back and visit the city yet, it's been 4 years now since the pandemic... I feel your words talking about Portugal just exactly how I feel about the city I had left... I lived in Lisbon for a year across 2017… not a day goes past without me daydreaming of moving back… it felt like ‘home’, unlike my hometown of Hull, London where I lived for 15 years and Tokyo where I also lived for a year.

This video is also one I needed to see and to hear your words--your courage inspires me to do what's necessary to go for what I want. I am 63, have lived in Arizona for over 42 years, am self-employed as a document preparing lawyer, have my own practice, so the easiest thing to do would be to just stay and ride it out. I have always dreamed about living in mountains in the Pacific Northwest and want to move to NW Montana--I moved all over when I was younger and getting my education, taking summer jobs out of state, etc., but as I've gotten older, I tend to overthink things and why it is crazy to do it and let go of the security of "what is." Problem is, I am sick of the heat in Arizona, so the "what is" is just not that great--just a steady way to make an income. So, your video today was timely--I just need to have the courage to do it!

I knew you would definitely be back in Portugal. It's something special to your heart.! What I've found to be very true for me in my life is to move through uncertainty. To welcome uncertainty, the unknown into my life that deep down in my heart I've been yearning for them. The more I try to live my life in a well-laid, logical, make-sense way, the more it loses its magic. As if it doesn't allow any space for magical, unexpected surprises to take place. I learnt this for the first time, I moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, retired from my career, and started my own path. This action was incomprehensible to many people. But it felt so good in my heart that I didn't need to validate with anyone anymore. Even though at the current point, there are no visible 'success' and 'achievement' yet.
Congrats to both of you! I am glad you had the means to make this change that you wanted. I agree with your ‘sum-up’ at the end: go for the things that feel good to your heart; you can always change things later if it isn’t working out. I have been to Hawaii (beautiful !) but not to Portugal (your vid shows it to be a beautiful place as well), so I look forward to tag along with you as you explore and live there. ❤️
I love to see people who can pick up and go. Some people need to be deeply rooted and some need to roam. I’m the only one in my family with a gypsy soul.

Tbh I've been taking courage a lot recently and it's changing me I can tell. Life gets easier when you're giving yourself a chance to show your potential, what you can do. And it's teaching you to trust yourself.

Sad to see that you have left the 808, it was good to have you as "neighbors" just down the beach, but the realities of living in here can be very impactful. We were excited to see how your first move to Portugal as we have been contemplating moving to either Portugal or Italy for a few years now, but have held off until we have everything lined up to make a clean move and start our new adventure. As you said, Hawaii is its own magical place full of so many adventures and will always be home in some form(have lived here for 40 years and spouse born and raised) - but the expense is now starting to outweigh so many of the positives and life is too short to not live the life you want. Please add some occasional updates on how the process of your original move versus moving back has gone. There is so much to glean from firsthand experiences - Love your content as always, congratulations on making your life yours, stay safe and Aloha and Mahalo!
