I have always had a lot of friendships where I was primarily the listener. I can't do it anymore. I started to feel drained and invisible in these relationships. I realized that relationships that are more reciprocal and balanced not only make me feel better, they are the only kind of relationship I am interested in pursuing.

I feel the same it has beat me down over the years. Until I had to set some really firm boundaries. My mother is an emotional vampire and even though I love her she is so narcissistic and difficult to be around. The perpetual victim. I have had to distance myself because it was killing my spirit. If you sit in a quiet place and think about someone, your body will immediately tell you everything you need to know. ❤

It’s videos like this that make it easier to accept myself as a highly sensitive person, realising that I’m not alone and that there’s nothing wrong with being myself. Thank you and thanks to everyone adding comments. It’s all incredibly helpful.

This video really hit home for me. I am a HSP and empath. This year, I have gone on more walks along the river, gone to more therapy sessions and went on more road trips and taken more personal time than any year of my life. I am also in AA and attend meetings regularly. All of that and daily prayer is what helps me navigate life the best that I ever have. I am also self-employed and set my own schedule. I have found that allows me the most flexibility with my time and has lead me to taking more "me" time than any regular job would ever allow. Thank you for sharing your story with us and inviting us to share ours with you and each other. It really makes for a healthier community and a more fulfilled life. God Bless.

Lamps, candles, meditation music on all day, always listening, constantly absorbing and constantly needing to depressurise!!! That's me too!!! I love being home alone with my dog, cooking healthy food and also just breathing in nature. If I'm overwhelmed by people or tasks I take a long walk. I became a reflexologist because I loved to listen to others one on one and to feel their energy and help them recalibrate. That helped me in turn to nurture my own needs. So good to know I'm not alone. Thank you for this.

I love to walk, especially places where there are not many people...or even no people 😃 then all I can hear are the nature sounds. I love to listen to books on Audible, my favourite thing to do it take my earphones on a walk along the sea front, sit on a bench under the trees, it's pure escapism 🏝 And I love to listen to music or cook. All of these things make me feel energised. People are important too, but occasionally not all of the time, I love interesting conversations but not gossip 😃 🦋

Yes, the highly sensitive trait is a bless and sometimes a curse. Feeling a lot is sometimes so overwhelmed and even sad. But I still choose to look at it as a bless. I see you and I love you. wow it’s so refreshing to see others that are highly sensitive. I almost thought at times that maybe I had autism or something else going on. I’m also an empath and an ambivert. I enjoy socializing once in a while when I feel it’s needed, but if I overdue do it I feel extremely drained and need me time to recharge. I noticed at times I would use alcohol to be more comfortable socializing but have caught on to that and was so proud to go to a gathering for a few hours without a sip. It’s amazing how much we learn about ourselves as we get older. I also can’t over plan because I get overwhelmed from it. I’m 36 but not until a few years ago I really started to learn myself more. Living a slower life not always easy with 3 kids lol but I make it a priority. Gardening, baking, cooking, reading and being outdoors sooth my soul❤

I have a stressful but great job as an Executive Assistant, and I kept wondering what was wrong with me being SO drained at the end of the day to the point I cannot do anything.. I binge watch shows.. I take a LOT of alone time and it was starting to hurt me because I felt like it's been hurting my relationship taking so much alone time and now after listening to all of this... this blows my mind... It all makes sense... I knew I was a very sensitive person but could never really understand why and it would frustrate me so much.. I had no idea that HSP was a thing... wanting to have all spaces clean with no clutter because then my brain feels cluttered, always needing to have comfort food but to the point it's getting over done, I don't know. I am beyond grateful you posted this and I got to watch it. Thank you so much for your amazing work and videos. They have helped me so much over the last 4 years.

It's true we are highly intuitive and I think it''s our superpower - to deeply understand others, their emotions, reactions etc. That's why I chose a career as psychologist. On other hand we are too much involved in everything around us, we then need more time to recover in calm space (like your channel). ❤

Wow. Beautiful. One thing I’ve done is I have been away from all forms of social media (except RUclips) for years. I’m much happier without!
It is challenging now having young children, as they are often full of energy and excitement and they just love to be loud. It tests my limits for sure!

This video came at the right time. I'm an HSP too and in search of a job. Life has been overwhelming since the last few months, and it's been quite hard to keep the energy high and focus on what's required. I am glad to have a great support system that keeps me grounded and reminds me that all of this is just a phase. Thanks for the video, and I relate to what you've mentioned.

This resonated so much with me! As I get older I have stopped trying to fix myself into becoming like everyone else and just really listening to my body. Somatic exercises have helped to be in my body with love and acceptance. Thank you for such a beautiful video.

I feel like you're speaking to my soul! I had forgotten the importance of leaning into the silence to recharge after months of denying my sensitive side to simply survive. I was starting to doubt whether I'd ever feel like my peaceful self again until I found your channel (I feel at peace for the first time in months).

Oh wow, I just can’t even explain how much this resonates with me. I love how you said I’m not not a sensitive person I’m a highly sensitive person lol. And also how you said you resisted it growing up. Me too. I’m 36 and through self reflection and acceptance and therapy I’ve just recently unfolded that I too am an HSP, about as HSP as it gets lol. I am in the process of taking an 8 week course regarding HSP so I can learn more about myself. It’s been so validating and such a relief to understand myself in this way. Did you know this trait is found in 100 different species to date? I find it so incredible. Researchers think it’s an evolutionary trait because there needed to be people in the tribe who took in more info. I do all the things you do to care for myself, and am still in process of more self love and acceptance as I learn more. I’m still very much in process of letting go of self judgement for being different and not wanting to socialize like other people do. Much love to you sweet sister, thank you for sharing this❤❤❤

Helpful Tip for using the vinyl player that I recently discovered: Keep the plastic cover open when playing the vinyl. It seems counter intuitive but it helps keep static from building up on the vinyls. Have a great day!
