I have always had a lot of friendships where I was primarily the listener. I can't do it anymore. I started to feel drained and invisible in these relationships. I realized that relationships that are more reciprocal and balanced not only make me feel better, they are the only kind of relationship I am interested in pursuing.

I feel the same it has beat me down over the years. Until I had to set some really firm boundaries. My mother is an emotional vampire and even though I love her she is so narcissistic and difficult to be around. The perpetual victim. I have had to distance myself because it was killing my spirit. If you sit in a quiet place and think about someone, your body will immediately tell you everything you need to know. ❤

This video really hit home for me. I am a HSP and empath. This year, I have gone on more walks along the river, gone to more therapy sessions and went on more road trips and taken more personal time than any year of my life. I am also in AA and attend meetings regularly. All of that and daily prayer is what helps me navigate life the best that I ever have. I am also self-employed and set my own schedule. I have found that allows me the most flexibility with my time and has lead me to taking more "me" time than any regular job would ever allow. Thank you for sharing your story with us and inviting us to share ours with you and each other. It really makes for a healthier community and a more fulfilled life. God Bless.

Lamps, candles, meditation music on all day, always listening, constantly absorbing and constantly needing to depressurise!!! That's me too!!! I love being home alone with my dog, cooking healthy food and also just breathing in nature. If I'm overwhelmed by people or tasks I take a long walk. I became a reflexologist because I loved to listen to others one on one and to feel their energy and help them recalibrate. That helped me in turn to nurture my own needs. I have a stressful but great job as an Executive Assistant, and I kept wondering what was wrong with me being SO drained at the end of the day to the point I cannot do anything.. I binge watch shows.. I take a LOT of alone time and it was starting to hurt me because I felt like it's been hurting my relationship taking so much alone time and now after listening to all of this... this blows my mind... It all makes sense... I knew I was a very sensitive person but could never really understand why and it would frustrate me so much.. I had no idea that HSP was a thing... wanting to have all spaces clean with no clutter because then my brain feels cluttered, always needing to have comfort food but to the point it's getting over done, I don't know. I am beyond grateful you posted this and I got to watch it. Thank you so much for your amazing work and videos. They have helped me so much over the last 4 years.

I’m so exited to stubble on a channel by a fellow HSP! I felt so alone for years and wondered why I was so different and now that I’m in my 40’s I feel like I’m finally discovering accepting who I am. I look forward to watching more of your videos!

Thank you so much much for your videos. I too am an HSP and can totally relate to this video. Thank you for the tip regarding clutter free spaces, it definitely makes a difference in reducing sensory overload.
I really wouldn't be able to function without blocking out regular rest days and time away from family and friends. Family never understood me and were offended when I would do this, but now they understand that I need downtime. I come back refreshed, and my social relationships are healthier.

wow it’s so refreshing to see others that are highly sensitive. I almost thought at times that maybe I had autism or something else going on. I’m also an empath and an ambivert. I enjoy socializing once in a while when I feel it’s needed, but if I overdue do it I feel extremely drained and need me time to recharge. I noticed at times I would use alcohol to be more comfortable socializing but have caught on to that and was so proud to go to a gathering for a few hours without a sip. It’s amazing how much we learn about ourselves as we get older. I also can’t over plan because I get overwhelmed from it. I’m 36 but not until a few years ago I really started to learn myself more. Living a slower life not always easy with 3 kids lol but I make it a priority. Gardening, baking, cooking, reading and being outdoors sooth my soul❤

I recently learned about HSP and a lot of things make sense now. I was more outgoing when I was younger and liked to go out a lot. But as I age, I feel more the characteristics of a sensitive person. I was getting frustrated thinking it was exaggerated, but now I know it is part of my nature, and I want to learn to take care of myself.

Amazing video Sophie! I bought that book in 2021 I think. I still have not finished it yet because I am reading Chicken Soup For the Woman's Soul. I only read 3 chapters of HSP and that book was made for me. I abhor loud noises, ultra bright lights. I love a nice, clean, and non bright space. I discovered that I love music that is very soft and just sounds so soothing. I have always felt out of place in a world that is always so loud. Thank you for making this video.

This is so me! I’ve always described myself as very sensitive and like you, growing up in my community it wasn’t seen as a good thing. I find myself to be talkative to the ones I’m closest to especially in romantic relationships yet valuing my me time. I wish I could’ve heard more on that aspect.

I find that I need a lot of time to myself, out in nature or in quiet, comfortable settings as well. I love my long morning and evening walks, watching the sun rise with my dog, drawing or painting, sunbathing, and working out.

Thanks for sharing this video. It's so relatable ..❤A couple years ago I also discovered via my therapist I am HSP and all the pieces fell into place. Yet it is still hard to find a way in this world that's not compatible on how I want to live my life. There is still much pressure and I am trying to find ways to make my life easier. I see it as a strength now not as a weakness.
