    Fine info but you may have forgotten a few things or it may confuse people. :-)
    Isopropyl alcohol can you store for ever if it has not been open and you can store it for ever if you get a dispenser that do not let air in.
    70% isopropyl alcohol works better because pure alcohol is not a solvent for most things, so the water helps the alcohol in removing the dirt.
    For cleaning normal surfaces is the 70% the absolute best, for cleaning things where water is a bad thing, use 90% or more, but just get the cheapest.

    Very nicely done! Welll presented. I do have a question if you are able to answer it. I've seen presentations that advise the combination of isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide to make a good cleaning/fogging solution. Is this a bad combination as you state at the end of your presentation? We've been doing this for a couple of years now and I will cease doing it if you suggest. Also, I just bought 99% isopropyl alcohol and want to use it in our fogger. Should I dilute it at a 3:1 ratio with water in order to bring it down to 70%? Any suggestions you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have soaked (for 4 days) brand new needles in 91% isopropl vs. 70% and for some reason the 91% always causes cheap micro needles to have the white adhesive seep out. What percentage of alcohol do your recommend for soaking micro needling needles? BTW, it's used with the Dr. Pen.

    • @Yoguely
      @Yoguely  4 года назад +1

      Isopropyl alcohol is naturally colorless. So the blue color must come from an impurity added for aesthetics. Dyes can be harmful for your health and the environment.
      (See my other video on principles for choosing effective cleaning agents ruclips.net/video/DEB0QS4Rbxs/видео.html )
      In the end, coloring dyes does not serve any function in disinfecting. So overall, I would preferably choose 70% Isopropyl alcohol without the additives.

    • @Yoguely

      I answer that in 3:56 . The CDC recommends "Alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol may also be used." for suspected or confirmed Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

    • @ceneg
      @ceneg 4 года назад

      Hi,
      I know you said this but it doesn't answer my question. I appreciate that the solution has to be at least 70% alcohol to kill viruses but can it be too strong, i.e. 70%- 80% may be fine, but
      at 99% it evaporates to quickly to totally deactivate the virus?
      Apart from this uncertainty, your video is very well made. Thanks for putting it out there!

    • @joshuak4553
      @joshuak4553 3 года назад +4

      @@ceneg 99% IPA will kill the virus, but not very well. You could always make a 70/30 mixture with distilled water.
      Aside from 99% evaporating too quickly, I believe something does happen on a microscopic level which makes it less effective at breaking down the virus. That being said, I'm not an expert so I don't know the specifics.
      I personally use 90% or higher for cleaning electronics, glass etc.
      Always use 60%-80% when you want to kill the virus effectively

    • @jmartinez5888
      @jmartinez5888 3 года назад +1

      From what I read is that 70% is the way to go because anything higher will evaporate to quickly to kill the virus. The 70% will have the proper drying time to kill that virus. Bleach is also cheaper to use but you have to let it saturate what ever you are trying to sanatize or desinfect.

    • @friedmule5403
      @friedmule5403 3 года назад +1

      I think there are a lot of confusion about this subject, but I hope to give a more correct answer. :-)
      The alcohol and the water have two different functions in a hand sanitizer.
      1) The alcohol is there to kill bacteria and virus but does a really bad job in removing dirt
      2) Is only to remove dirt and "flush" out what you had on your hands.
      In short do the combination, kill and then "flush" any remaining dirt and germs away from your hands.
      90%+ will only kill but not clean and below 70% will clean fine but may not kill as many germs. :-)
