I have used the Best Buy warranty and it's what they say it is. I recently filed a claaim for a B8 with geek squad warranty. They deemed it "not economical to repair" and gave me back the full store credit, so my B8 turned into a C2 with nothing out of my pocket. The only money I "lost" was the cost of the original warranty when I bought it 4 years ago. 1000% worth it. I look forward to my C2 turning into a C6 lol.

Something to consider is stepping up to the G2 instead of paying for the Best Buy warranty. The G2 comes with a 5 year warranty that covers burn in/image retention. One thing I see few reviewers cover is the ATSC3.0 vs ATSC1.0 Over The Air TV tuner. Many of us cable cutters watch significant OTA/Antenna content. The inclusion of the ATSC3.0 tuner is a significant upgrade and very important in this relm. The LG C series does not have ATSC3.0, the Sony A80K does.

The only problem I’ve noticed is running VRR and Dolby Vision on Series X does add a bit more lag. Dolby Vision adds slightly more lag due to higher image processing, which is an inherent flaw of DV. Disabling Dolby Vision and just using VRR with HDR10 is truly the way to go. It may not bother some as the additional lag isn’t unplayable, but it’s there.

So if something happens which most tvs do within that time period my chances of them just deeming it not economical to repair it and give me a credit are pretty high so I can upgrade for free or little out of pocket compared to when I first purchased the tv. Ive always had a great experience with Bestbuy. I was one of those that got the LG B9 back in the day. I understand the B series' shortcomings, but I do think that it is a great buy for people more on a budget. That being said, the one place I feel the alpha 7 CPU in the TV is lacking isn't necessarily in the features, but in the Smart TV apps performance. I didn't realize that I would use the Smart TV apps as much as I do now since I always thought those were laggy and terrible interfaces compared to on a PC, game console, or even a Chromecast. However, the Smart TV native apps of things like Netflix and Disney+ can do Dolby Vision and higher fidelity audio natively, whereas trying to go through a PC browser or game console sometimes removes these features or steps down to HDR10, or sometimes lacks 5.1 surround or Dolby Atmos, so I started using the Smart TV apps a lot more in recent years. Using those apps, I can feel the difference with some family members' CX and C1 TVs in terms of pure responsiveness, where I was the one who gave them that recommendation. Also, recently, HBO Max has been giving me issues where I can't even get past the advertisement they insert before the movie I want to watch. My PS5 had no problem playing the movie, but lacked both Dolby Vision and the 5.1 sound that the movie supported. It was frustrating to deal with, and it made me think about my decision to go with the B9 instead of going with the CX, which was out at the time, but of course the B9 was on sale since that gen was phasing out.
So as a B9 owner, I'm still happy with my purchase overall, and I will use it for as long as it lives, but if I were in the market for a replacement, I would definitely jump towards the C or G series TVs from LG, or consider one of the QD-OLED TVs if they're in a more affordable price bracket.

Thanks for this great advice about OLED models that offer the best bang-for-the-buck value. I just wanted to point out a feature of LG's top-tier OLED model, the G-series, that may be an important factor for "cord cutters". The G1 and G2 are the only OLED models from LG that include an ATSC 3.0 tuner. ATSC 3.0 digital signal is the next generation of over-air broadcasting that is currently being implemented, so LG buyers who wish to future-proof their TV reception may want to invest in the G1 or G2. Prices on the G2 series have been reduced for Black Friday / Cyber Monday. Sony has also included an ATSC 3.0 tuner in their 2021 J-series OLED TVs and their 2022 K-series OLED TVs (such as the Sony A80K).

John Lewis cover oled burn in as well for 5 years for an extra £200! I did it with my CX. I do vary my content a lot and do a lot of gaming too with static huds on screen and never EVER had an issue, I’ve even fallen asleep with the TV on pause a few times which is supposedly real bad for oled but still it’s got a mint picture and never had a sign of burn in. Remember your tv always does a some kind of screen refresh after 4 hours of use, once turned off after a couple of minutes you’ll hear a slight click from tv meaning it’s complete. So to any potential buyer of oled don’t worry and if you do just pay the extra for piece of mind. LG oleds are the best TVs you can buy seriously.

It now appears that the majority of manufacturers are cost saving and removing features to avoid paying for things including licensing. I was very happy with my previous LG’s ability to decode all sound formats but modern tv’s like these with eArc should have the capacity to pass all sound formats including lossless. This seems more like a sponsored by Best Buy add for Geek Squad that just saying there are countless reviews and usage scenarios where many C2 owners have thousands of hours on their TVs even as PC productivity monitors and have ZERO burn in given the mitigation features are on and you’re not running at high brightness. There have been minimal issues even without varying content. That is the selling point here, but a C2 or C1 or newer and don’t look back. Don’t even worry about a warranty. I was scared like everyone else and then got a good enough deal where I bought my C1 and I mainly game or use the PC for normal web content, sometimes I forget and leave the screen on. It dims all by itself and pixels shifts. It’s still fine to this day and I have come around full circle and am here to say, just buy one whatever your use case is. Even if you had minor burn in at any point, you won’t care. Use it until it’s bad enough and you’ll still go and buy another oled. It’s still superior technology to mini led on most cases. No blooming, better long term reliability, no black crush, oled is just not meant for bright rooms. That’s about it.

For general watching of movies and TV, the a8k would be my pick; its image processing, while not completely accurate, does give that “wow” factor upon first glance. The C2 does great at producing “accurate” picture, as intended, but doesn’t “pop.” I find that as of 2020, Sony tends to over-saturate and “boost” their colors to give the impression of vibrancy because it draws attention in a showroom. “Superior Picture Quality, however slightly”
    🤔………….
Owner of an CX and BX , picture quality is almost indistinguishable outside of test patterns/charts.
Both look fantastic and would make anyone happy. Watching mostly high quality content there little difference, possibly on lower but the C series will perform better but it’s so close almost impossible to judge u less you had them side by side.
If gaming though that’s the advantage if you need more than 2 Hdmi 2.1 ports, but they have receivers now that allow pass through so there’s always other options.
HDTV test should actually do a side by side and show the differences if any C2 vs B2 with actual numbers

      Kidding? S95B easy. A80K is mid-end OLED. S95B is top-end OLED.

He's never positive about the S95B, and that's the TV I'm going to get.
