    Thank You so much for all your valuable tips on how to take care of my Bird of paradise. I live in New Jersey USA and She was growing so nicely outside for the Summer! As it began to get cold, I brought her inside and placed her too close to a radiator in my corridor!! Her leaves began to curl and dry up. I removed her immediately, I checked soil, and of course it's dry!! Thanks again🙏🏾 hopefully she'll recover soon.

    I loved your video. I've been a plant freak all my life. People (mainly my kids) give me their broken down terrible plants for me to fix. Now I have a son whose partner tries, but just doesn't do the trick, so I'm trying to wrestle it away so I can nurse her back to health. She's got everything bad, so watching your video gave me super good thoughts as to what to do exactly as ive never cared for a bird of paradise plant. Thank you !!

    Thank you for your very informative video! I got my bird of paradise from A group of office co-workers 2 years ago after my mother died. I've had it in this excellent spot with the indirect light and it has been flourishing! It has grown tremendously and toppled over one time because of the weight of the leaves. I'm glad I found your video on how to put this particular type of plant, I definitely will be needing the stakes for the support.

    I know the video is a couple years old now so maybe you've discovered the magic of the tapener by now, but watching the staking/tying segment, I couldn't help but thinking a tapener would've saved you a ton of time.

    I just bought a bird of paradise plant, one of 10 dying plants, from someone on fb marketplace. It was a mercy mission lol. I love a challenge. I didn't even know what type of plant it was or how to take care of it so l'm now learning all l can so l can get it to it's full potential. It currently has 2 leaves and one is hunched sideways quite a bit so l will look into straightening it and giving it some support. Thank you so much for all this info, l feel a little more confident now.

    My birds are healthy but have not grown any new leaves since I bought it a few months ago. I think I rushed too fast and put them in too large of a pot. I recently fed them and added a humidifier will wait and see A friend recommended this video…awesome tips 🥰

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  2 года назад

      Hi! Congrats on your new plant!
      Please thank your friend for the recommendation.
      Make sure the plant has a good light.
      Do not water unless the soil is dry enough.
      Get Soil Meter bit.ly/2yuXVpc to test the soil before watering to make sure the plant is ready. Meter reading should be down to zone 4-5 before watering.
      Green Luck! 🌱

    Excellent video. I had a big BOP plant and experienced everything that you talked about throughout the plant's life. Eventually my BOP got too big for our apartment and we donated it to our high-rise building, where it lived for some time until it died from cold temperatures due to an HVAC winter problem. I am always tempted to get another BOP. I will name it this time, if I do.😁

    Should I use the spray leaf shine?
    I just love my bird of paradise! Her name is Corinado. We saw so many on Corinado Island. She is so happy in our large upstairs bathroom. The window is almost floor to ceiling. This window is abscure glass. Lots of humidity and I can give her a shower every 3 months. I really appreciate you showing the trimming the edges. I will do this today. What a great video. Her pot size must be perfect. I am going to watch this video again and your others. I need to get a soil monitor today. Again great video Thank you 😊

    Beautiful transformation Juliette, without your help Phoebe would have needed to move into her own apartment soon. What are the best propagation methods, will cuttings root?

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  3 года назад +1

      Hi Robert,
      😀😀😀
      If you have multiple stems, you can separate them and pot each in an individual pot. Pruning roots is ok! The plant will go into shock after pruning/repotting but will recover and stabilize.
      When pruning roots (if needed) make sure to use sharp tools and clean with rubbing alcohol before using.
      Green Luck, and thank you for watching! 🌱

    I’m having the issue with the leaves not entirely opening so I appreciate the tips and will get right to it after work today!
    Also, I had mine out in full sun last summer and the leave’s curled up! I couldn’t understand it bc I’m used to seeing these plants around in PR with no issues under full sun, but the watering makes sense so I will keep an eye on that this Summer, ty!

    • @Mycityplants
      @Mycityplants  Год назад +2

      Hi Myriam,
      Thank you for watching 🌱
      1. Bird of Paradise plants that spend winter indoors are not as hardy compared to plants that grow outdoors all year around.
      When moving your plant outdoors for the summer, it is best to place it in a shady location outside first for a few days, then move the plant to a partially sunny location for a few weeks before finally settling it under a full sun exposure.
      *** I would recommend to keep your Bird Of Paradise in a partially sunny or shady location during summer times.
      2. Leaves might not fully open if the plant is not getting enough light, if it is root-bound, over or under watered, lacks nutrients or due to low humidity.
      *** You may also take a moist soft cloth and wipe an unopened leaf with it to help it to unfurl.
      Green Cheers and May your plant grow happy and healthy!

      Hello Krishna,
      Thank you for watching out videos!
      Happy to hear that your rescued Bird of Paradise plant is growing under your care!!
      Here are a few reasons why leaves might not open + tips
      LIGHT: Make sure your plant gets a good amount of light.
      HUMIDITY: If you have a low humidity in your space, place a humidifier nearby to raise it up.
      You may also mist leaves daily to help them to open up.
      NUTRIENTS: The plant might need some nutrients. The best time to feed your plant is March-September.
      Here is my video about when and how to fertilize houseplants: bit.ly/3teZEaw
      ROTATE: Rotate frequently to provide and equal light exposure to all sides.
      POT: The plant might need a bigger pot.
      When repotting, select a pot that is 3-5" larger (wider and deeper) than the original pot.
      PRUNING: If the plant is getting too tall, you may prune it back to keep it at the desired height. Here is how: bit.ly/30JifQZ
