Wife & I test drove the RWD version in the UK. Was cold (6 degC) and raining. Indicated 170 mile Max range. We were unimpressed. WLTP of 295 miles... That is a big difference.
Like half lol
I recently took my 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge on a road trip. When raining, my efficiency dropped significantly. I attribute it to the physics of moving through water and the additional energy of running the windshield wipers. Thx for the video. I enjoyed watching. Thx EX30 is an exciting offering.
Nice video man 👍 BTW. The charging menu are placed on settings. You pushed the correct location at the end. It's then located at the centre tile.. Charging. But there's no information whatsoever regarding the charging session 😂
Love the cockpit.
Screen looks small. Yet very usable.
I have the same car in UK and the range is awful, on good roads in good weather at a steady 68mph on ACC its range is 30 to 32 KWh /100 miles. The car has been back to Volvo main dealer for two weeks for checks and latest updates, no improvement. Average 200 miles instead of Volvos sales 298 miles. Comments please
Hi, according to the great Kempower charger, when you connected the car for charging the 20 kW was due to the car, but later the charging power of 120kW was because the charger couldn’t deliver more, although the car was asking for more. It seems like Volvo manages to heat up the batteries while charging, which is quite effective. 👍👍
As it's a Kempower charger just scan the QR code so you can follow it inside your car or wherever you go and no app needed to do that with. I do it all the time. But then shouldn't need any app to start charging it should be as simple as Tesla but using the Plug & Charge standard or with contactless(for non-residents/travelers who would have rented the EV as one example). For the weather you hit definitely the range is probably about expected.

Its wet cold and travelling fast not surprising...
Poor - though I have seen reviews where it did a lot better in similar conditions - I’ll find out soon enough as I pick up an ex30 plus extended range next week.
Great review - disappointing range though, even considering the bad conditions
Very disappointing result. I get that the not-so-cold temperature of 1-4 have impact on the battery.
But I don't get why rain and slush have impact on the driving range. Could someone explain? Wipers don't that that much energy...
Go to the beach, get in the water and start running and you have your answer😃
@@frederikbakgreat way to explain it :)
Driving on wet roads increases rolling resistance by quite a bit. As mentioned, try walking through water at a “normal” pace and you’ll find it’s much harder.
The HVAC system might have to work slightly harder to dehumidify the air too to keep the glass free from fogging too but that’s gonna be barely anything compared to the wet roads.
I test drove this exact model yesterday and travelled about 18 miles / 29km and used just 9% of the battery. This would give it a range of around 200 miles / 320 km. It was only slightly warmer yesterday at around 8°C but it was dry.
If I am going to have a thirsty scandi inspired EV, might as well just get a CMA vehicle. Happy with my P2 instead of waiting for this. With used prices as they are you even spend less and get more.
2,4 is way to much even if its 1-4 degress outside Its a small car!
This is not good Volvo. Extended range is a wrong name. My model 3, 60 kWh went 370 km on E6 sweden this winter🚀
Bigger car and battery.
too expensive for that range :)
24+ Ok bye bye Ex30 😮😢
3:38 dude don’t accelerate when you are being overtaken, that’s not cool
I wasn’t. I was driving at a constant speed on the cruise control. Not my fault the guy in the left lane isn’t able to drive properly 😅
Yes you are, you were merging, you know your speed is in the picture right?
@@MartijnV452 sorry, thought you meant another part of the video. But there is nothing wrong with accelerating to the speed while merging. I can’t control the speed of other cars and can without a problem accelerate to the speed limit. I wasn’t merging into the same lane as that other car. So not sure what you are on about.
Agree with Kris. Kris was already accelerating up to the speed limit.
In Denmark it is forbindende to accelerate when you are overtaken. You will get a fine.
Very disappointing results. I was hoping for much better…
What to expect. Super cool environment.
IT IS WINTER!!! Of COURSE the range is going to be reduced. Why don’t people realize this??
@@teddysdadcory if you gonna make a car that is not efficient, then give it a bigger battery and really fast charging speeds.
@@rogeriogomesosorio4755then it will carry lots of deadweight too
If Volvo did a EX60 first they would have a winner.
The EX30 is to small, not even useful for a small young family.
Exactly, 2 seater car . To small for kids in the back.
There are a million other huge EVs out there for you to buy. Let us have a small ev for once ok
