Hello. It's a known bug that Volvo are working on. Probably for the next OTA. Talked with Volvo about this. The bug makes the charging limit reset itself to 6A. But Volvo are working on the solution.
Getting mine mid April with same specs and color. This video gave so much relief cause it’s the most honest test ever since I live in Denmark and travel around and needed so much to know what to expect! Kristian mange tak
Thanks so much for the test! Lovely scenery in Norway, I have my reservation here in Costa Rica for the LFP version but still undecided wether to upgrade for the Extended Range.
Thank you for the test i have made an order to the basic less battery version which can already prove that at my area that 15-25 celcius is easily achievable would make battery capacity superb. So in those conditions its still great results! Cheers
Beautiful scenery! Great no-nonsense reviews Kristian. I'm getting the exact same car next Friday and hope that I don't have the same AC charging issues that you've been experiencing 🇬🇧
Nice vid; appreciate your attention to detail and the lovely views of Norway. It' something to see the mountains completely covered with snow. Good results with range and hopefully charging issues will be addressed, although we probably won't see much winter down here in Central Texas. I don't speak any Scandinavian languages (yet) - Gracias Amigo!
I have the same charging bug with my EX30. You have to cycle the charging limiter function (slide the limit to 32 then wait for the charging rate to go up, then turn off the limiter) when you first have the car plugged in so that it doesn’t limit the car to less than 1kWh charging. Hope they will fix it in a future update, among other things. BTW, you can open the boot lid in the car status panel inside.
I've tried to change the limiter, but haven't worked so far. Or haven't fixed the issue. Tried it again now, so will go down in 1-2 and see how it's going. Yes I know you can open it from the inside, but sometimes that's not so convenient. Like if you have shopping bags or stuff in your hands.
@@volvo_kristian I’ve since just left the battery charge limiter for AC charging on and set it at 30A. So far it seems to be working without any further intervention on my part.
Good video with excellent result. When I had EX30 for a test drive, our 11kW charger did charging quite fast and also morning preheating went from charger.
@16:30 "Coldest temperature was like minus 5, so pretty mild!" That's insane! I'm so glad I live in the tropics. Minus 5 would be a national crisis. Having said that, I loved the scenery on this and that EX30 is a very desirable car. Hot hatch and crossover rolled into one!
Thanks for the great vid! That is a pretty darn good avg consumption at around 0 degrees Celsius. Beautiful scenery too. I am planning a road trip to Norway in a few months with the EX30 so this was very fun to watch.
Also ordered one, handing back my Polestar 2 and sticking with Volvo Cars. Not sure I would order a Polestar again, too many quirky elements. Hopefully you can do a range test on the Dual Motor Performance soon! Nice background music too!
My xc40 extended range (should handle 580kms) can’t make from 100% more than 320kms at 100kms/h at 19°C, hard to believe any tests made in RUclips after driving the real thing since October 2023.
Tack för en grymt bra video på range test. Bra att den kom 300 km, varit lite nervös just på range i kallt väder men detta var klart godkänt. Har beställt en ultra singel extended range.
A bug in the software is limiting the charging. The function to restrict charging between 6 Amps and 32 Amps are active (even if you turn it off in the menu) and resetting itself to 6Amps. Solution there and then - Stop charging - Go into the charging menu on the screen. Turn on the function to limit the charging and adjust it up to 32 Amps. Then turn the function off again. Restart the charging. Unfortunately it seems like you need to do the same next time you start the car. Guess that is a bug high on their software update list :-)
Hello. I actually got it to work a couple of hours ago. Had tried that solution twice before without luck, but today it worked.. I really hope I don't have to do that tomorrow as well.. Either way I have to deliver it back to Volvo tomorrow.
Thank you for the comments around the slow charging issue and how to use the limit charging current toggle to resolve. Once this is done and if you then set up scheduled charging for say that night would it default back to causing problem with the speed of the charging again?
I always have climate/AC activated. In this test it was probably at about 22-24' celsius. Would also think heated steering wheel have been activated. Gotta have it comfortable
@@volvo_kristian Thanks for the respond! I know some turns off all comfort settings to squeeze out the extra km from the battery. But, it is good to see a a representative test. Everyone want to have it comfortable 🙂

Thanks for the detailed range test. Don't know if I overheard it but how was the wind situation? Because if there would have been tail or head winds for the whole time, the range would be significantly affected.
@@volvo_kristian before a normal drive me neither. But if you do some sort of consumption test and it's not a round trip it has a big impact on consumption. The faster you drive and the bigger your car is the more impact you have.
Do you plan to do a motorway range test? It is probably more interesting/relevant to see what happens at set speeds. About the AC charging issue, I've seen it mentioned before and some people said it had to do with the charge limit setting. Apparently resetting that can fix it. Also, can't the trunk be opened from the screen?
Will try to also do a highway test. With this Single Motor or with the Twin. I've tried the charge limit thing. Haven't helped. Yeah the trunk can be opened from the screen, but if you have like shopping bags or something, then it's a little hassle.
Hi, how do you drive the Ex30 single motor in the snow? I live in Italy in the mountains, so many climbs that can be covered in snow. I wanted to understand if rear-wheel drive could be a problem
It is thirsty at an average speed of 65km/h. Horrible charging speed. In a recent video Björn Nyland did he got 180kW at 2 percent SoC in cold winter weather with the Model 3 Highland.
300km is ca 186 mil. With a WLTP range of 298 mil, in the cold the car does about 55-60% of the WLTP (factoring in it wasn't 100% charge). As someone looking to get an EV, is a 40-45% loss from WLTP good? Seems a huge drop on its face even acknowledging the cold and WLTP being unrealistic in real world conditions. Many thanks!!
Yeah, there's always a drop in range during winter.. I've seen bigger drops in my XC40. Especially during the extreme cold period we had some weeks ago. So this isn't chocking for me.
This is my concern also. My wife & I test drove this car in the UK. Cold 6 degC and rainy. Mostly motorway so 70mph. Efficiency reading gave a range of 170 miles. This was poor I thought or at least not very good to lose over 100 miles from the WLTP range.
Har prøvd flere ganger å endre landegrenser. Prøvde igjen nå, for å se om det hjelper. Skyver grensen fra 6A til 32A. Men usikker om det hjelper. Har prøvd det 3 ganger siste uken. Uten hell.. Why? 🤣 Wasn't supposed to charge so much. Just enough to get back to Gjøvik. Just needed like 40%, but longer stay at McDonald's, so charged to like 60%
Okay? The scenery are breathtaking 🤣 Just out of curiosity.. What would you like to see on the screen. My average speed are visible at the end. If I should show the screen than you couldn't see outside. The camera are mounted in the front windshield. So not possible either.. Also not so interested in showing the speed.. especially if I'm sometimes rolling to fast.. So ain't happening. Scenery always wins 😎 Maximum speed in the test was105km/h.
@@volvo_kristian Actually I like seeing how the assist driving is interacting to the traffic et cetera. I would think you could attach the camera to the glass roof and aim it so we could see both. No big deal I enjoy your videos anyway. I'm just trying to help.
What a great Car from Volvo, less of a tank and lightning quick. Plenty of room for most and looks nice. I actually don’t know why it needs to be such a rocket ship yes instant power is great but this think takes off like a 2015 Ferrari if not faster. 😂 A six month old or year old good spec low miles would do me fine having taking its first depreciation hit. Days of buying factory ordered Cars have passed like our current two Cars but then we have kept them a decent time. Only been in one not driven yet and it was smart inside, decent room, nice driving position and looked great. Volvo have absolutely Sams it out the park.
0 degrees centigrade is NOT winter weather/temperature. Might be for the central Europe but not to the Northern part of Europe. Next WINTER test should be don in minus 15 to minu 25 so we could get the "f-ing realistic" winter figures...
Hahaha 😂😂 Today's best comment 🤦♀️ Maybe there's no such thing as dumb comments, only dumb answers.. So will try my best.. Sorry that you're not pleased... I've had this EX30 at home for several months, but didn't have time before now.. And even if this looks like Norway it's actually recorded in South Germany... I had made arrangements about negative 20' degrees with constant snow, so I'm just as surprised as you that the weather gods didn't stick to our deal. Have sent them a strict letter..
Seems like Esa is the person deciding what is or isn't winter, even though according to Google winter is often defined by meteorologists to be the three calendar months with the lowest average temperatures (December, January and February in the Northern Hemisphere). I guess snow and ice on the roads and a temperature of below 0°C is not considered winter? But on a serious note, yes, obviously the consumption will be higher when we go closer to -20°C or lower, but I don't think that the creator of this video can control the weather or has access to a time machine so they could travel to Finnish Lapland in January to make the range test on the couple coldest days we had this year (-40°C to -45°C), even though perhaps that would make Esa happier.
