    Correction: The PT-145 (double stack .45 ACP) was available with an accessory rail, in both 2nd and 3rd generations.

    • @weissrw1
      @weissrw1 4 года назад +1

      Back when the PT-145 came out there was no such thing as a 10 round subcompart in 45 ACP. I don't know if there is anything like it even now. I bought one and still have it (just in case the gov't goes back to a 10 round limit!).

    • @burleydad
      @burleydad 4 года назад

      Ronald Weiss I had one that I really liked. 10+1 of .45ACP?! ALl in a package the same size as the g2, well, it was a little fat. The one I had was in the lot number that was included in the Class action suit. Sent it back to Taurus and got a brand new G2c. I miss my PT145, but could not imagine the legal shitstorm that might happen if I was involved in something, anything, while carrying a recalled pistol. I did all the tests they said they were prone to and just could not get mine to pop. Oh well...

    My first ccw was a pt111 g2 great gun I never had any problems. Also I've had a few g2c's i always reccomend them to someone looking for a budget gun. For around 200 bucks it's a great way to get someone into carrying while not spending 500 on a glock. Most of those people are debating between that and a sccy (cool colors) but I dont think there in the same league.

    I just found your channel, which is great because I don't want to subscribe to the TFB channel for various reasons. I subscribed to yours.
    Anyway, thanks for the explanation. if I may, there were actually a couple of changes between the PT111 G2 and the G2C beyond the removal of Taurus Safety System. One common issue with the Pt111 G2 is that the trigger safety breaks because it is made of a hollow plastic. The G2C replaced that with a solid plastic molded trigger safety. A couple other tiny things, too, but I think fixing the trigger safety was a significant step.
    I'll be checking out more of your videos in the future. I hope you start to expand this channel as your time and effort allow! Thanks!

    The polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol is just important for all manufacturers to take seriously. Just by consistently improving each generation, I am more confident that they care about customer satisfaction. The G2c definitely overcame any reputation problems of the brand. I'm interested how they improve the next generation of G-series. Doing something to allow DA carry or fully ambidextrous controls would definitely help distinguish it at the value price point.

    At 1:26 through 1:35 he briefly covers the titanium version; so kudos to Hop. Note that there is no disassembly take down lever. That fact is not a problem and I suppose that the difference is attributable to metallurgical issues. Like other Gen 1's, the frame sides are flat which I found troublesome in that my thumb would unintentionally press the mag release. Later models have molded features that help prevent that process. I still have my titanium for which, in hindsight, I overpaid. Anyway, perhaps someday it will become a collectors item, given its scarcity.

    When you have a double feed, you have to rip (with force) the magazine out. Hence the cut out on grips. Good video. This is an important history and I am glad you did it. BTW, the Millennium Pro Series was a bit more partsy on the internals. It is my favorite. On the drop safe issue, the gun that went off on being dropped was a well used cop gun in Brazil. God knows what the armorer did to it. As to the safety issue, some had that issue, some didn't. I have a PT-111 that has the issue and another that doesn't. I have a PT-145 that has the issue and another that doesn't. So I am just careful with the safeties. Take care.

    I've got a Taurus 'sob story':
    I got a new G2 in 2016, & it took me just under 6k/rds to wear the (MIM?) disconnector to the point that it became unsafe.
    Since parts are rare, it'll probably go back to Taurus - where it'll stay for months on end. When it comes home, I'm going to test it, then sell it w/ full disclosure.
    I simply can't (won't) have a gun I can't work on and rely on to be more durable. Parts wear out, guns break...we all know this.
    To me, it makes far more sense to have a firearm that has good 1st and 3rd party support. To be simple to work on. To be inherantly durable, and most importantly: Reliable.
    For those reasons, I standardized on the Glock pistol about 10yrs ago. Glocks aren't flawless or 'perfection'. But they are proven go-to-war guns, and for the money, the best investment for me.
    I genuinely wanted my little Taurus G2 to shine and disprove the haters - and for almost 6k/rds, it was highly reliable. It had a very low occurrence of FTF/FTE malfs.
    Ultimately, I'm happy for those who "get a good one" w/ Taurus. I thought I had one, too. May you have better luck than me.
    BTW: Thanks, Hop! I always enjoy your vids, and often learn something new.

    Great Video! I have one of the OLD PT-140 40SW Millennium that I have had since 2003 when I purchased it as a novelty backup. Can the G3c 17 round magazines be used in the G2c? One other thing that Taurus did between Generations was that the Pro had Dovetail Sights where the Non-Pro had Sights that were held in place by a screw but that was done at MID Production so there are some Non-Pro Pistols that have Dovetails and getting after market sights can be a Royal pain in the ASS as I found out when I decided to put Night Sights on my PT140 and went with Trijicon and it took 3 different SKUs to get the right ones! I purchased both the G2c and G2s a back in 2018 on Black Friday when Academy Sport had them for less than 170 each and I thought what the hell try them out and worse case I can sell them for the same price if I did like them BUT they have been very nice Pistols Specially after I changed the SIghts to TruGlo PROs, and a Recoil Guide Rod to a Stainless Steel one over the plastic one plus the Striker Sleeve to a Stainless one from Lakeline LLC that move the G2c and G2s to be better than my SW Shield that cost twice as much. Taurus Hit a Home Run with the G2 and I think the G3 as well!

    Two years later the G2C seems to be alive and well. I just bought two of them from Dunham's for $224.99 each, which will be $199.99 each after I get the rebates. They were selling the G3C for similar prices, but I really hate the G3C trendy forward gripping grooves and really love the G2C fluted contour at the front of the slide. I like that these Taurus guns seem to have less of an ugly gap between frame and slide than many other plastic-framed guns, including Glocks... I hate seeing that recoil spring through the gap, and on some of the (more costly) competing guns the frame and slide really seem to diverge ugly at the front end.
    I consider this to be a nearly ideal defensive pistol. The grip is nicely shaped, nicely textured, and just big enough to get an entirely comfortable grip on. The 12 round magazines seem more than ample to me. The slide runs on a decent amount of steel rails, unlike my Kahr CW380... which is really daring in its minimalist engineering. The only thing I don't like about the G2C is the plastic sights.
    It appears Taurus is currently making some of these guns (G2C and probably G3C) in .40 S&W, though my local dealers did not have any in stock. It seemed an interesting/efficient caliber, but when I saw how current ammo prices are I decided 9mm is plenty powerful for a gun of this size and weight. I just bought a mess of Federal 9mm ball for $15 a box, not much more than it probably cost back in the 1990's when a dollar was worth $1.75 and .22 rimfire was $8.00 per 550 rounds.

    • @Fuzzybeanerizer
      @Fuzzybeanerizer Год назад

      Oh, another "tactical" gimmick feature I really hate is the accessory rail at the front of the receiver. My G2C's do have a rail, but at least it is minimal and unobtrusive. I can live with these.

    The g3c is the best gun on the market at that price point.

    I once shot a glock with a vertical line in the middle of the rear sight notch and a day glow dot on the top of the front sight blade that I much preferred to any figure 8 sights. In particular, acquiring the sight picture was much easier and faster. Does anyone have an explanation why such a small difference had such an outsized effect?

    It would be a lot cooler if someone other than Lakeline LLC got into the aftermarket stuff. There have to be a ton of these guns out there.

      Check out keeptinkering triggers, as well as Galloway precision. Truglo and Ameriglo make sights for it, too.

      ProMag, Mec-Gar have gotten into the mag game, G3C got into the Glock sights game, and I hear others are finally waking up to a Taurus wave.

    On November 10 used my new G3 at about 50 rounds the gun jammed the barrel stuck to the slide..sent to Taurus Nov 15,as of now they still have it,now 2 month waiting for parts,incredible the worst service.
    I also have a G2c 1000+ rounds and works great but Taurus service stinks , Eli
