I grew up surrounded by criminal sociopaths, psychopath and malignant narcissists, In fact, I was trafficked for many years by a criminal ring. I know what I'm seeing with complete clarity.

It literally took less than one minute for the defense team to pack up and walk out the door once the judge told them they were no longer needed. I have a feeling this guy is going to do everything in his power to turn the trial into a circus. I feel sorry for the victims and their families who are going to be compelled to go through this.

Then he will object to the "mean things" the victims & families are saying in their victim impact statements. I'm also curious to see if anybody will say anything in his defense. I know he claimed he had 20+ people who wanted to do so, but he also said he was going to bring his mom into testify and we knew that wasn't gonna happen. He had seen the evidence of her cooperation with police/prosecution and he STILLLL thought he could bring her in and make her lie for him. He is seriously delusional and extremely narcissistic.

Never seen attorneys hightail it out of court that fast. They are very happy with this outcome and know exactly what is going to happen next and want no part of it. He won’t say that he understands because in sovereign citizen mumbo-jumbo language if you say you understand, you are saying that you “stand under” the authority of the court, which he believes he does not. He was asking for nature and cause and objecting to the state being the plaintiff for these same reasons. He will challenge jurisdiction and never accept the courts ruling in the hopes of forcing a mistrial. Everything he has said and done is right out of the sovcit playbook.

Doubt it. The lawyers can usually either plea deal or get the jury to question evidence and issue a lesser judgement than the maximum. The ultimate result in this case is the dude will probably get the maximum verdict possible by the jury.

I think seeking to represent himself was just a ploy to delay the case. Once the discharge of the attorneys was imminent he started saying "I don't understand". I don't think he thought he would lose the attorneys in the end. Now, its too late to backtrack. If need wants an attorney, he is NOT getting one from the public defenders office, he have to come up with the money himself.

I believe if he tries it he can be found in contempt of court and have additional punishments or charges issued against him by the judge.
Former competency restoration clinician here, and I always told the individuals that I worked with that “the person who represents themself has a fool for a client”. A lot of times people want to represent themselves because they’re paranoid and they think that a public defender is going to somehow plot against them or work in conjunction with the state for them to lose in court. I had a whole module on pro se defendants.
It would be unbelievably easy for someone like me to convince someone like you I am unable to comprehend court proceedings.

After witnessing the Darrell Brooks fiasco, defendants should not be allowed to represent themselves.
Oh this trial is going to be both frustrating and entertaining. I can't wait to see this fool dragged out on contempt charges, which he will be. He really doesn't get the fact that being admonished in front of a jury will seriously hamper an objective decision. He will be held to the same exacting standards as an attorney which he clearly does NOT understand. I predict not only a guilty verdict but life imprisonment without parole.

That’s actually why he keeps repeating “pro per” when the Judge says “pro se” when she’s referring to his request to defend himself. In his head-Appearing "pro se" is not the same as appearing "in propria persona" as one appearing "pro se" is serving as his own attorney and thereby granting the court jurisdiction since, like you said, all attorneys are officers of the court. This is his way of saying that he doesn’t recognize the court’s authority, and he thinks it’s going to work 🥴

Why does he have to be so combative with her? He acts like a toddler sitting there swaying back and forth in his chair and objecting to crap he shouldn’t even be objecting to. This child is not competent to represent himself. I don’t know why the judge let him do this, he doesn’t understand a thing they tell him to start with. He’s going to be very defiant and combative when this goes to trial, he will be objecting to everything and his outburst will only get worse especially when he’s questioning the victim’s. I just don’t think it was a good decision on her part, but maybe she has a reason. He probably would have thrown a tantrum if she said no. Lighten up dude you’re going away for the rest of your life regardless for killing and hurting people, nobody owes you a thing.
She had to let him because four different evaluators found that he does not suffer from a severe mental disorder. She alluded to a personality disorder but didn't specify which one. The law states that only in cases of severe mental incompetent can his right to self-representation be taken away from him.
I've been VERY curious as to what these lawyer's went through and what their thoughts before, during and after dealing with him, ❓ My belief is the reason he wanted to defend himself is as we've seen, being a narcissist he has to be heard and have control, 💯 otherwise his lawyer's told him if he continued these outbursts, he would not only be shackled, but he would be muzzled, as a narcissist that would not work, so here we are FINALLY JUSTICE and listen for a moment, SILENCE, 💯⚖️⚖️⚖️💯

Because of the way he’s acting I HOPE the trial isn’t televised. He wants the attention.
The trial will turn into a series of Brooks trying to present his sov nonsense, and the judge shutting him down and holding him to court rules and procedures and requiring him to stick to relevant information. The way she refused to indulge him and simply repeated "Are you prepared?" shows how it will go. The judge might find him in contempt, but so what? He'll spend the rest of his life in prison anyway. You got what you asked for Brooks. Hope you like it.
I do like how the judge is not taking his crap and shutting his nonsense down right away, instead of talking/repeating/re-explaining and indulging this narcissist attention seeker. The victims families should be hopefully spared of having to hear too much of his BS (even though I’m sure the trial is gonna be INSANE and a circus....)
Sovereign citizens love about this subject matter jurisdiction it's not anything difficult but it's something they always go back to they can't let that go

Y'know I listen to a lot of these defendants and suspects who get caught by cops, and the thing that stands out to me is that they really sound like middle schoolers.
Why is the judge bending so far over to let this guy represent himself? It’s OK. I have never heard of a Sov Cit winning a case. Especially when the crime is caught on camera.
