- A judge in Waukesha County, Wisconsin is set to decide whether Darrell Brooks, the man accused of driving an SUV into a Christmas parade last year and killing or injuring several people, will be allowed to act as his own lawyer during his trial.
Brooks was the best witness for the prosecution.
Oh he was the best apprentice prosecutor!!
Employee of the year 😂
Oh, he HATES Attorney Opper!
And I think it’s the simple fact that she’s a strong intelligent female.
And she’s not manipulated by his tactics.
You got that right
Yup! His disdain for her was beyond obvious!
RIP to the victims and the entire Waukesha community. 🙏
Let's see...female officer assisted in capture...2 female DA's....female Judge....GLORIOUS!!😂😂😂😂😂
Brooks really thought he had this in the bag. It was gratifying to watch him literally crash and burn. Even momma couldn't get him out of trouble like she has, however many times before, by posting bond, or signing for his bond. No more rescues. Big boy court, big boy questions, big boy consequences. 🥴🥴🥴
He must've thought I can do what I usually do in any situation, which is to talk over people, intimidate, act irritating, and disrupt. But that didn't work.
Judging on his reaction to the guilty verdict he I think he honestly believed in his self absorbed egotistic little head that he gave such an epic closing argument that he really had a good chance of a not guilty.
I love how he gets all mad when the judge says “statements like I’m informed or I’m aware is the functional equivalent of I understand”. The way the judge shuts down his little play on words and his little tantrum he throws for getting called on it is hilarious.
You are so right he's not with the boys & girls club anymore he's with the women and men club to be perfectly clear judge Dorow,DA Sue Oppra, Leslie and Zach so Brooks you should have kept your lawyers
These two attorneys had to be doing a happy dance in their heads.
I know i would have been
Im surprised they didn't RUN when they were released.
Yes they have lol
Yes, that’s why the withdrew from dealing with this idiot. He thinks he so smart cause he got some thug street smart.
Those attorneys was so happy they probably almost fell down try to run out of there because I've heard that to say they were public defender Brooks called them 25 x that's ridiculous not even paid attorneys meet with their clients that many times
This was definitely foreshadowing.
Watching this after the trial has ended is so infuriating.
He complained constantly during the trial about ALL of the issues the Judge warns him about today.
Thankfully none of it matters now.
She was probably wondering why in the world God decided to toss this dog turd right where she was walking.😮
Isn't it crazy that Brooks actually calls himself a sovereign citizen in these early hearings. Then when Judge Dorow calls him out on it during the trial he literally says something like "that word you said, uh sovereign, uh I don't know what that means. i have enough to think about without worrying about your rulings". He's such a gameplayer. I'm glad none of it worked too.
This judge is just way 2 nice would been nice to have a judge that would have did everything in their power to belittle DB every time he wanted to act out including gagging him and strapping him down to his chair
@@John-86that would have just made it worse. He would have had a chance to argue mistrial.
@@John-86I agree to an extent, like I get what you're saying that she was "too nice" but at the same time I get WHY she went about it the way she did BUT i wld have loved to see him strapped to the chair and his mouth gagged with duct tape!!
I'm personally glad the public attorneys left. Wouldn't want their reputation to be stained because of him.
That's not how this works. Nobody would have been "stained". Defense attorneys play an important role in the judicial process, and have to advise their client, and make sure the prosecution prove their case. Even if the defendant pleas not guilty despite obvious evidence, everyone knows the attorneys' hands are tied and they were given an impossible case. It has no bearing on their reputation.
I think the stain is much about the stench. All reports previous to this trial, during and post have included that brooks smells absolutely awful. Like old onions and sour milk with a hint of excrement
It’s the fact that he’s sitting in that chair swirling like he didn’t KILL people! It’s unbelievable!😢
Swinging like a 2 year old
@@kaybee812.That’s about the age level of his emotional intelligence.
I love that she caught on to Brooks answering that he was informed instead of being aware, so she changed the questioning to ask him if he was informed. He's always trying to get over on something every single thing.
It’s sovereign citizen nonsense. They don’t “stand under” the jurisdiction. Saying they understand means they’ve entered into a contract with the government.
I love how he gets all mad when the judge says “statements like I’m informed or I’m aware is the functional equivalent of I understand”. The way the judge shuts down his little play on words and his little tantrum he throws for getting called on it is hilarious
I believe Mr, Brooks has a major disrespect for women. Starting with his grandmother.
This poor judge! She has the patience of a Saint.
So defiant and cocky. And that’s exactly why he’ll spend the rest of his life in the department of corrections 🤷🏽♀️
That rocking back and forth, he thought he had this in the bag!
Exactly why he is where he is at 40 years old and now spending the rest of his wasted life in the state prison system. He had so many opportunities to learn from his previous criminal acts and live a responsible life. He is an example of why dumb a$$ people should always be law abiding citizens. So glad he wont have a chance to harm anyone in society ever again. He is where he belongs.
One of the things that made me super annoyed and mad during the trial was when he said several times how he didn’t waive his right to council. Even though he said during this hearing, “I don’t consider it a challenge” or “It doesn’t make me flinch”. Thank goodness we have this video and the record just in case an appellate judge needs to be reminded how much of a pathetic coward and liar Brooks really is.
She was so thorough in this hearing and when he brought up his difficulties during the middle of the trial, it infuriated me. He wasn't listening to her during this hearing. He was convinced in his mind what he believed was his right instead. I guess he should have flinched!😂
This man is so infuriating. Thank goodness he got life. This judge was amazing. She deserves the longest vacation ever! I couldn’t have held my temper
He's disrespectful right from the start!!
this is the only thing darrell brooks won in his court case.
And even doing this he lost.
the attorneys won😊
His defence team is interacting with him VERY differently here than when he first slithered into court. I can only imagine, given his conduct throughout the trial, that he must really given them the blues during the brief period they represented him. I'm sure he was an absolute nightmare.
Yep, the lady lawyer was rubbing his back.
Well I’m sure he thought he knew better than his experienced attorneys….what a fool🤦🏾♂️

Yuck!
Look at him rocking back & forth in his chair thinking he's smarter then everyone in the court. How sweet it is knowing the outcome.
Going back watching this hearing knowing the outcome of the trial is even sweeter.
I know. I watched some of the even earlier pretrial hearings and he was made aware of all of the things he claimed he never knew about including the jury view of the vehicle. He was there internally raging, swinging his chair back and forth. Makes he happy he doesn’t have a direct audience anymore and he no longer have victims unless he goes into general population and get monkeystomped by every gang that is itching for him to be let within their reach.
Please take that chair away from him!
It's funny his shock restraints dont zap him haha

I’m swiping up, looking for something to watch and I noticed this, this video Brooks wants to defend himself, and the very next one Brooks guilty on all counts!! 😂😂
Everything in between is one helluva ride
I know the court won't see this but Judge Dorow, please know that you and the court have the support and prayers for wisdom and peace from all of us. Thank you for your patience and diligence as we pursue justice on behalf of all the beloved victims and their families. Thank you so much for your service.
Brooks “How many seats will I have available, I have people coming in.” Seats are vacant the length of trial.
Whew! This trail is going to be so long and drawn out due to his lack of compassion for anyone but his arrogent self!! Prayers for the victims
You are so right Lauren and his arrogance and lack of knowledge with his apparent unremorseful attitude at the impertinence.
Room for his people? No one came on behalf.
If he gets as far as cross examination of witnesses there will be so many objections.
He has nothing to loose so he will drag this case out for as long as he possibly can.
Once the guilty verdict is announced he can read his blacks book for several hundred years !!!.

...A defendant that represents himself has a fool for an attorney...
I see what you did there.
Those lawyers both seem stressed and this was before
Later in trial, he will complain that he didn’t “realize” (avoided the word understand) that he would not have attorney assistance when representing himself.
He specifically states he thinks he gets standby council and is told that specifically. He is even shown the provisions in the law that states this. He acknowledged that he heard her inform him but he objected to it! He thinks he controls the proceedings and that his opinions and feelings override court law and precedent.
I’ve always suspected that he did this “pro se” stuff to charge he had ‘insufficient counsel’ for his defense. And use that as basis to file a motion for an appeal.
But I can’t believe he doesn’t realize this is all on the record that he exercised his Constitutional rights and insisted on this circus was his request.
Anyway, we all know there will be no approval to allow an appeal.
He stated in court of the contract SHE made with him. ( Of many) he edited the documents regarding self representation to say he retains the right to have counsel as he pleased/needed.
You may know he literally edited every legal document he had to sign and return.
Everything was edited to serve his agenda.
He demanded each time Judge Dorow honor the contracts SHE made with him by excepting the documents back.
Even when it was discovered in court edits are not allowed/ actually worded that way on each document.
Yes. At the bottom of each court document it says “This document may not be altered,” or something to that effect.
Perfectly stated!!
He waited till 3 days before the trial was to begin thinking it wld get delayed than during court he cried he didn't have enough time. HE SD HE WLD DO BETTER REPRESENTING HIMSELF. Than kept crying he don't understand. He had nothing to lose n he wanted to question these victims. Disgusting
Why this dude talking to the judge like he’s talking to his baby mother…?
6th amendment states he has a right to council. He forfeited his right right for council. He thinks he "got her" by stressing " his 6th amendment right won't be broken "
He's concerned about there being enough room for his people. OMG that's hilarious 😂! NOBODY he knows came to the trial! His questions are ridiculous and he is walking talking stupid personified.
And he chose to double-down on the stupid.
If I were one of those public defenders I wouldn’t be able to get my feet to move fast enough to get out of that courtroom and hear the doors close behind me!!
I bet you they went skipping down the halls after 😂😂😂😂😂😂
They did rather quickly pack up and leave🤣
14 minutes in to this video tells me this is going to be a bumpy ride in court! It’s December 20 writing this. We were all right about that assumption. Thank goodness this trial is over and justice was served!
Yes indeed. I'm actually surprised the judge didn't recouse herself in the beginning when she acknowledged knowing a victim father.
@@shayvidatv Why would she?.. It was discussed on the record in court?.. The DA and the Defense both didnt object or ask for her to remove herself.. @@leighavenable-niedorowski6767 what the heck are you babbling about? No one said anything about it not being legal for her to preside over the case! She could have recoused herself and used the reason of knowing 1 of the victims father. She had that option after just seeing how challenging this case was going to be mentally. I'm sure many people would have chosen to do that regardless of either party having any issue with it. Nevertheless, for some reason you're making something out of nothing! I think he used the initial attorneys to do all the research work and everything then fired them.
I think he kept trying to inject his stupid ‘sovereign citizen’ BS into their defense strategy and when they kept explaining to him that it wouldn’t work, he decided they were useless to him.
I agree. I was thinking the same thing.
I think that was his plan all along to let his attorneys do all the legwork and the paperwork and then get rid of them but guess what because of that sovereign citizen BS that he wanted those attorney to operate on and they were not going to do it and lose their license I don't blame them he is the epitome of evil 👿👿
I was thinking the same thing
That poor judge, she got the short straw with having to preside over this case and dealing with this lunatic.
Mercifully it worked out for her; she’s running for Supreme Court.
She chose too
She’s not a punk
She chose to stay after it was revealed she knew father of one of the killed victims; 2 weeks after verdict, she decided to run for Supreme Court although her opponents claim she has no appropriate experience for it, and asked her to stop talking to media about this trial as it may jeopardize it in appeal. She knew exactly what she was doing-this is a highly publicized case, and it gave her exposure she’s been using to run for state supreme court. “ Saint” would be someone who did not capitalize on this case.

So..did his lawyer leave all those boxes behind?? Is he just READING questions..the attorney had PLANNED to say ???
Yes he has indeed been simply reading his ex-public defender’s questions. In fact at one point (I think after his 50 minute monologue) the DA actually noted that that was exactly what he was doing.
Yet he had no idea WHY those questions were even relevant. He just read from the script acting like he’s some sort of legal mastermind. Until he got to his questions about the plaintiff.

Which is why the state, the judge and even the PD advocated for him to represent himself. This was a tragedy, but it was not intentional. There are sound arguments to be made and accompanying evidence, but Brooks doesn’t have the capability or access necessary to present any of the above. Although it makes no difference bc the chances of even a single unbiased juror in Waukesha Co. was extremely unlikely even in the event he had counsel. I keep having a thought that if one of the deputies or LEOs from the parade had taken out this waste-of-space demon during his drive, all this money could have been saved and given to the victims as compensation for all the undue suffering they had to go through because of his monstrous deed. This demon did not even have the human decency to accept a plea deal and spare his victims, he will surely get all that is coming to him and his mom (who gave him the vehicle despite knowing he does not have a driver's license).
