There is no way any panel would have granted an appeal or there would have been a mistrial over not letting him rant on a daily basis, especially about stuff she already ruled on!

I been saying this during the entire trial. He knows exactly what he's doing and that's based on delaying this trial with tactics. Period.

It's interesting that he's decided to act as his own counsel, and expects the court to teach him how to be a lawyer.

His lawyers went for insanity but would lead to 4p years most likely. Brooks wanted to be let go and he's going for mistrial or appeal.
@@GivePeaceAChance12 the insanity plea also wouldn’t have worked because apparently an early search of his cell/ phone calls was done and it was found that his mother was coaching him/ sending him things on how to fake being insane. So not only was he was evaluated and find to be competent but the search ruined any chances that might have been

Anyone claiming that the Judge shouldn't have allowed him to represent himself, she had no ground to make that ruling. By law she followed everything she was allowed to do and he still met the low bar for competency to represent himself which is a right given to all. As for people claiming this will lead to a mistrial, it will not. He knowingly filled out the waiver and acknowledge it in court. If he claims he didn't or that he doesnt understand what he attested to, he will have perjured himself under the law and can be subject to additional charges. To anyone claiming the judge is setting it up for him to appeal, see the previous sentence.
Well then they need to raise that ridiculously low bar . It’s clear to your average citizen that he’s incompetent and unable to understand court proceedings.

She's had his # from the start. She knew how his defense strategy would be .. most narcissistic people have triggers and she figured out what they were. He has no filters so she had to constantly put him in time out.

There was a case a few weeks ago where a man kidnaped,ra*ed and tried to kill his ex-wife. He represented himself and CROSSEXAMINED HER. His victim.

But she said she asked so many of the other judges for advice, and ways to handle problems that came up.
I know all those judges were thankful they weren’t in that courtroom.
Is anyone aware why his public defenders wanted to change judges? That was on his request, is my understanding.

This guy is perfectly capable of understanding all the rules and regulations of court. He is also capable of sitting calmly and controlling himself. This guy is not crazy he knows exactly what he is doing. He’s crazy like a fox! He doesn’t read all the documents provided to him, he wants everyone to think he just doesn’t understand any of the issues because then he will cry he wants the verdict overturned and a new trial or granted an appeal!
Brooks throws into the trash documents he receives, then whines about not knowing something! He watches replay of trial and whines about comments yet takes no time to prepare for trial! The unanimous crap is ridiculous, if he is found guilty of any of the 70 plus crimes then it applies!
He also will say everything is a bunch of lies - until the proof is shown - and then he’s all “why you gotta be like that dog? I object to the disparaging remarks against me.” He knows how to lie thru his teeth, and he thinks that he’s so charming that most people will believe him. I think anyone with a brain cell saw thru the lies. Thankfully the judge threw the book at him

Ok so I know the outcome, I’m playing “catchup” with this trial because I joined in towards the middle!! This guy is all about control!! He argued every ruling including the ones for his own benefit!! So glad he’s going to be held accountable for his horrific crimes!! Kudos to the Judge for her patience and her professionalism as she shut him down!! She made sure that despite his attempts for a mistrial and appeal, she was very thorough documenting his behavior and still made sure the trial continued!!! She is awesome!!!!

Had the Judge forced Darrell to have an attorney he would have complained and would have ask for a mistrial. No matter what the Judge did he was going to complain.
He was trying to cause a mistrial the whole time, no matter what.

@@jborrego2406 well his so called appeal is going to fall on deaf ears with a big 🖕and a loud laugh as a response. Judge Dorow put up with alot of BS that so many of us couldn't do and I strongly believe she did that to make sure his conviction would stick and permanently be removed from society.
Listening to him whine and drone on about how “difficult” he is having it in prison is disrespectful to the families and surviving victims. I hope they throw the book at him and lock him away forever. 🤬
My thoughts exactly. He didn’t have any fears of mowing innocents down but he’s terrified about something I’m sure is nothing.

@@dizzee5768 he isnt scared, he is using whatever he can think of to try and get grounds for a mistrial he thought getting rid of his lawyers and then claiming he didn't understand the procedures and refusing the paperwork somehow gives him grounds for an appeal, its beyond ridiculous, the judge is doing very well not rising to his bait, he is going to have fun on mute, I am yelling at my screen I'm so frustrated, the judge has the patience of a Saint.

If people play a drinking game because of his stupidity, that's on them and worthy of a Darwin Award. Guaranteed death. As for the delay in proceedings he's clearly attempting to do, the judge has made the right call simply because she needs to show whoever takes up this case on the inevitable appeal that every chance was given, every courtesy was extended, and even when not allowed to do so, she gave explanations as reasonably as she could under the circumstances about legal definitions and proceedings thereby going above and beyond what he deserves as someone who has made a perilous error in judgement. He's trying to play the system as all of these sovereign citizens do with their tactics, but she's clearly ensuring that any appeal gets denied because he's proven himself to be unable to act with any common courtesy. There's room for dark humor in these proceedings, but remember that not everyone will get it or approve due to the tragic nature of the circumstances that bring these people together...

What I love about the way the judge handled Darrell was no matter what he tried to do he failed. It was good to let him talk, as he literally condemned himself. Good job judge and RIP to those who lost their lives and my prayers are with the other victims.

@@sheri9186 I see that, and to this day, the sound of his voice makes me sick. I had a lot of beefs with Darrow while the trial was going on. But, I do think she allowed him to hang himself tightly enough that no appeal will ever be granted.
I am devastated at what Brooks did but I could not quit laughing throughout this whole proceeding. Brooks has no idea of what he is doing.

And no matter. If you go to another country and commit a crime, they can detain your perdon irrespective of what your citizenship is.

This Judge is awesome. She knows he is attempting to set up an appeal before trial even starts so is being very thorough. She is patient. His attempts to say he objects to even being tried and subsequent filibuster is being handled in best way possible. I am worried he is going to further victimize the victims when he questions.

It’s frustrating watching the court allow Darrell Brooks to continue on with his trial delaying tactics; I understand the judges decisions though. She wants to make sure he won’t win any appeal.
I think by allowing him to represent himself that in itself could lead to a mistrial as this man is clearly both mentally ill and low IQ.
He’s not innocent and will spend the rest of his time behind bars , I simply think it would be more fair in the eyes of justice to have him represented by counsel , also it would go SO much faster than having to listen him object after every single sentence .
It’s hard to think that she will be explaining to him like this in front of the real court people

@@billiebarkwell3901 she won't explain anything once the jury is in. She's giving him a ton of latitude because she's trying to avoid a mistrial and or an appeals issue. But I think she's given him too much leeway.

It goes without saying though, but worth giving new viewers a heads up to ... that he's been allowed to represent himself fairly much guarantees he's not getting any diminished faculty reduction when the bell tolls.
He's been assessed and is pro se, after being told by the judge he'd be stuck with himself if he insisted and she repeated it several times in varied phrases before agreeing.

He’s just intentionally being difficult and because he’s a sovereign citizen, they have a complete misunderstanding of the law and how courts work. That’s not incompetence. That’s just putting his belief in how law works over how the actual law works.
He could save that BS "I asked you a question too, your Honor." He's not on her level she doesn't have to answer his Murdering A**. He should of been kept in that room for the entire Trial.

Appreciate your patience and tolerance.
Your case should be lauded and shared to the world as a great example in how to preside on a case where an accused, after acknowledging that he has no professional legal background, still decides to waive his right to public counsel and assume the position himself as his own legal counsel in defending himself.

I respectfully disagree... I truly believe this whole time that he was quite certain he was smart enough to somehow get out of this. He seriously thought everyone except the court and the prosecution was on his side... and that he was smarter than the law, the Court, the attorneys and the jury.. He didn't begin to realize this was really going to happen until the last 2 days of trial. We're talking about a man who thinks he knows so much, that he believed he could just *PooF* avoid being charged by denying to be charged. But yes, of course he loves the attention.. but he doesn't even realize the drama and just how ignorant & unlikable he is showing himself to be.. he believes all his outbursts , absurdities & moot points are genius bc he doesn't even have the awareness that he's behaving like a toddler throwing a fit.

That jail administrator is SERIOUS and shows a justified disgust for Brooks.

He has clearly thrown tantrums and gotten his way throughout his life, but now it is starting to become clear to him, he is not getting his way, and it frustrates him. I hope no appeals court will find that he has any grounds to appeal, since his sentence should really be eternity!

The constitution says you have the right to a fair trial and representation... It doesn't say anything about trying to get people out of trouble when they have already been tried and were proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be guilty.

I’m seeing this for the first time after having watched the trial. The judge is right, he intended on raising jury nullification from the beginning. It shows he knew exactly what he was doing the entire time. I really feel for the victims who showed so much strength in having to listen to this monster attempt to make a mockery of this trial.
Imagine the families and victims having to use a whole months annual leave to sit there putting up with his nonsense so just because he (ridiculously) believed he could get off on a technically 😖
I agree as I went back and watched this from the beginning after seeing the trial a couple of times. He is so morally deficient that he does not know the difference between right and wrong. He is a rude, Narcissistic evil man.

And after getting over the initial distraction and shock at seeing a trial like this, I a watching a third time and seeing how clear his intentions were from the very beginning. THIS is why he wanted to represent himself because he wanted to have control over trying to sabotage the trial. Epic failure on his part. Not just that he got convicted, but that he was forced to listen to what his victims had to say, and Judge Dorow's speech during sentencing let him know he didn't fool her for a minute. He played himself...and now he'll spend the rest of his life behind prison walls.
@@becalfarris3520 he does know the difference between right and wrong. This is demonstrated in his very particular concern for how he himself is treated. What he lacks is the ability to extend this concern to anyone else, even when confronted with the carnage he caused his only concern was for the effect this would have on him. He immediately recognizes right and wrong with respect to himself.
My first time going back this far too... He started off trippin and stalling ... but I'm sure Judge knew what type of character she was dealing with based off the interrogation alone

I think he really thought that if he dropped his lawyers at the last minute that the trial would be put on hold so DB could "prepare" and it didn't work then he realized how screwed his was
He was told the trial would continue whether he represented himself or not. And not only that, he told the judge that he wouldn’t prepare his questions before the witnesses came to the stand. The less he prepared, the longer he could drag out the day/ trial. He was going to drag this out one way or the other and judge was going to drag him kicking and screaming the whole time no matter that. In the end, she won and the victims won.
More likely his attorneys, being very competent, as Judge Dorow assured him, were resisting his use of all the sovcit BS he WANTED to use, and advising against it, so he, being "smarter" than they are, thought he would be far better at representing himself.

Brooks complained in the last days of testimony that his trial was unfair because he had to use the DAs for help serving his witnesses with subpoenas. He refused to set a schedule for his witnesses stating it “wasn’t fair because the state had NOT been required to notify HIM of a schedule and names of their witnesses” . Lol
But here clearly he was served with that EXACT information as required by law from the state through a deputy and BROOKS himself went on record and stated he “refused service from the deputy of the documents he later complained about

I am sorry for the victims, the victim's families & friends, the Judge, the State attorneys. I'm sorry for everyone involved. I cannot imagine the patience it takes to stay calm when this man is trying everything in his power to set himself up for a successful appeal. The Judge is doing everything she can to avoid that. I feel for the State's attorney too. She knows the victims and wants to try a real case, not a circus act. Wow, this is going to be a hard one to watch.
I do too. Especially feel bad for the victim's families in the court. The judge and prosecutor doesn't want anything to help in his appeal.

Our Legal system is not perfect, but it is all we have to maintain justice and freedom. By allowing him to defend himself in a respectful manner has been the aim of this judge throughout these procedures. Mr. Brooks has not shown any respect for the court, the judge, or anyone present.

Judge laid out the law beautifully in this case. .. she had the entire united states rooting for her and the defense team. Im relieved for the families .. I know it won't make this holiday season any easier for them but the verdict was a win .. it was a long haul and they made it through ... Now to continue to pick up the pieces. .my prayers are with them all.
She is allowing this to go on pretrial because at some point, probably soon, she is going to force him to have counsel and she wants to make sure she has given him every single chance twice over before she does that so the trial can actually move forward. Nope, he stopped his wildin out real quick when he realized him talking over everyone and acting like a fool won’t work as it’s how he got his way before. Now he wears his jail-given suit and tie, makes snarky jokes, and LARPs as an attorney to the jury (while failing miserably). He still argues and acts ridiculous, but this shitshow has still continued in other ways that is more insidious and egotistical. He just switched up his tactics.
