So I think Brooks is using a four-layered defense:
-It wasn't me driving.
-If it was me driving, it was an accident.
-If it wasn't an accident, you can't punish me because there's no plaintiff.
-If there is a plaintiff, I'm a sovereign citizen, so you don't have jurisdiction over me.
you are completely correct that is his defense... now let me play the state
-Heres evidence of the vehicle hitting people in the parade... heres video of the driver during those moments
-heres evidence that he could have stopped at any point, or left the parade grounds via the blocked off streets with only plastic barricades
-the plaintiff is the people of the state of wisconsin and the wisconsin/waukesha district attorney, so yes there is a plaintiff and no the state is not required to present an injured party, but we do have injured parties anyway, also your think of civil court cases this is a criminal case we the people do not have to present an injured party, id suggest you read up on law because we have for years to earn our suits
-the citizen darrell brooks is indeed a citizen of the united states of america with a social security number, a Wisconsin driving license and place of residence, he had not submitted any paper work renouncing his citizenship to our country and has not provided any other countries paperwork to which he is a citizen, he will be tried as a citizen of this country and as such if found guilty will be sentenced, and will dutifully serve his sentence as a citizen of the US until such time that he either passes away or his sentence whatever it may be has been carried out.

I have NEVER HATED someone I've never met or known. In fact I don't even like the word hate much less harboring that feeling BUT I ACTUALLY HATE THIS PIECE OF TRASH! There are many words that I could use to describe what he is but I'm sure there are hundreds of thousands that feel the same way. He's far from being a human but not even good enough to be called an animal. I like animals. THIS SAVAGE I HATE. I don't live in Waukesha. I don't live in Wisconsin. In fact I don't live anywhere close to Wisconsin. I don't even know anyone who lives in Wisconsin. If I feel THIS MUCH HATE towards this piece of trash I can't even BEGIN to imagine what those who were directly affected by this creatures actions must feel. I DO hope & pray that they are all, some way, some how, finding peace & are working on moving forward to live their lives to the fullest & not allow this creature to hold any space in their heart or mind nor steal any more from them than he already has. I looked up synonyms for the word hate & couldn't find any that were even close to depict what I feel towards this creature. I looked up angry & also couldn't find a word close to what i feel towards this creature. The same way I have these hostile feelings towards someone I've never met or known I also feel the COMPLETE OPPOSITE for those whose lives this creature has forever changed. I have so much love, compassion, empathy, hope & respect for each & every one of you. The way this community has pulled together, loved & cared for one another speaks for itself & is why people all over the WORLD love & support the people of Waukesha. Praying for you all. 🙏🏼❤🕊✝️🙏🏼

I hate to admit it but the past few days I've been laughing at Mr Brooks' antics in the courtroom. But this presentation made me cry like a baby. This man is totally evil

I actually think it’s a good thing-it brings some levity to such a tragic event, having a clown in there. Plus it almost guarantees he will be found guilty. I haven’t actually laughed but I’ve scoffed at the ridiculousness

That prosecutor is the type of lawyer who genuinely wants nothing but justice for the victims and is sticking to the facts to prove his case. Brooks will not get a mistrial or appeal based on the prosecution or defense errors.

My nephew was at the parade with his two little girls. Harper, the 4 year old asked her Daddy if she could step out on the street and get a candy. He said no come to Daddy and stay close to me. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a car barreling through the parade. If he would've said yes to his daughter, she may have been struck! We thank God she was spared but so many others were killed or injured. He is a demon 😈

This is such a sad and serious case, he hurt so many people and left others grieving. His lack of care or concern him being assenine in court is absolutely horrific!!!

That judge is one of the most patient individuals I’ve ever seen.
She is my hero.

I watched every moment of this trial. Zachary Wittchow is an excellent lawyer-- Opper and Boese are too, but I love watching Wittchow's quiet passion and precision. He's so good.

He's excellent. He knows the route and how this lunatic killed and hurt people. He knows who this people are, their names, their injuries, the cops who were there. Throughout the trial, when in comes to the route, he's the guy. He knows it like the back of his hand.

The way he pays attention to the screams and videos.
Reliving the terror he put onto his victims, he's quite proud of his retaliation of society.
I believe he gets off on watching the videos of what he did...then he goes back to his cell and brags to the other inmates about what he saw and viewed on screen.
He really never saw these exhibits. He is trying to see how much they have on him. Thats why the wondering eyes, I believe.
At first I was so confused how someone could do this on purpose or on accident. Darrell Brooks conduct in this case has made it plainly clear that he is that type of person who could do that.

Absolutely Brooks showed his rage time & again during this trial. He's shown us how quick to temper he is, he's proven this was done on purpose & he's shown no remorse or respect for the families of the dead & injured. I'm genuinely sorry Wisconsin isn't a death penalty State.

The prosecutor is so right when he said the defendant (Darrell Brooks) doesn't have a defense. There's substantial evidence that he's guilty.
Prosecutor did a great job and boy is he easy on the eyes. It was nice to see the jury get justice for these victims, unlike one of the other of the 2 massive national cases that was going on at the same time (Parkland).
The prosecutor did a great job, i went to college for criminal justice.....i have watched a million trials, learned about some of the worst crimes imaginable, and seen many, many, many evil people talk about their crimes.....but i have only seen maybe a hand full of people that truly just radiate evil and indifferance like this man.... he does not even have to speak, he doesnt even have to move.... even when sitting perfectly still and silent, this man just fill his surroundings with negative energy.... gives you chills even watching from a computer screen..... if there was ever someone who deserved the death penalty, it is this man.... not only does this man have zero empathy, sympathy, or compassion, he clearly does not have a brain.....because representing himself was the worst thing he could have done... because all it is doing, is showing the kind of monster he truly is..... all we can do is hope that it works as well for him, as it did for Ted Bundy.....fingers crossed!

Kelsey I’ve worked in Criminal Justice for almost 16 years. I’ve seen hundreds of trials in person and on television. I agree with you that Brooks is one of the most evil people I’ve ever seen. He’s classic narcissist and personality disorder. Crazy but not incompetent. This trial is one of the most frustrating yet fascinating trials I’ve ever seen. The judge did an amazing job of making sure his rights weren’t violated so he’d lose on appeal.
Brooks has tried to deny there was an altercation prior to driving into the parade. Which only makes him look worse! He is essentially saying that he was in a good mood and not a care in the world when he ran a bunch of people over!

I think the most part hit me was,that evening there was a certain joy in the air but mr brooks took it away leaving death terror and horror I cant help feel so terrible for that community.
Look how quiet he is now. Ran over those innocent children, how sad 😔 how sad for everyone that was injured and killed that day, because of this man's hateful no care actions. How sad for the families 👪 😢 😞 😔 that lost they're love ones. Prayers and heart felt condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy

This tragedy just haunts me. The people will literally bear scars of this for the rest of their lives. This criminal deserves every bit of discomfort and suffering he gets in prison. His prior sentences were too short and he never learned anything from them.
I’ve been watching random clips of this trial and have now decided to watch everything because I am mind blown at how they continue to allow him to represent himself and what his defense is. He obviously did it. So what’s his defense? That he’s sovereign?

At this point yes. The other day he was trying to say in an almost hour long rant that because his name was in all caps it wasn’t him. Classic sov cit move
They aren’t letting him do this. He has a constitutional right to defend himself- and confront his accuser. It is the law of the land. He stood for a hearing of competence. He was warned over and over of the negative aspects of defending himself- and the constitutional rights he would have to forfeit to defend himself- he made a lucid decision to ignore the advice of the court- and fired his attorneys in open court. He denied the offer for a lawyer to help him guide his way through the legal system. His motion for self defense was granted. There is no way for him to be represented by council- unless this judge holds him in contempt- and orders him to accept council- in which case this jury will be dismissed- and this whole circus would happen again. These are the facts. There is no death penalty in Wisconsin- so he will undoubtedly be sentenced to 6 life sentences- without the possibility of parole- each to run concurrently with the last- and a huge amount of years for the endangerment of the public- like 60 times. He is done.. when he is exposed to other inmates (which may take years- if ever) real justice will be done

@@elizabeth84266 Well said. Made me think about the process for choosing lawyers. For open and shut cases it's fine to have someone young and inexperienced. As long as they are able to control their emotions (i.e. no home goals).
Whereas something like the Zimmerman trial you need a lawyer with experience because it's contentious to the jury.

Totally agree with you on that, the judicial system needs a huge overhaul and law enforcement should be made to sit and watch this trial, from start to finish, if Brooks had been efficiently dealt with, this may not have happened at all! A criminal record spanning years, violent crimes,etc etc - the law eventually came through and convicted him regarding this, but all too late for the affected in this terrible crime!
@@smiffymiffed2734 law enforcement has zero control over how long a person gets in prison. They get just as frustrated when career criminals get let out over and over after they worked hard to get them put in jail. All they can do is keep arresting them and hope the court system does its job. Unfortunately the court has been failing by giving too many lenient plea deals and not giving appropriate sentences.

“So did his motivation to” murder. His motivation was to take out his impotent rage on as many happy people as possible. There is no question about that. All the patterns of his behaviour indicate rage-full malice.
It reminds me of the nurse who killed the pregnant woman, her child and the girls fiancé by driving over 100mph. She killed so many because she was mad at her boyfriend.
She (I think) was not deliberately killing people. She was disthrbed with a long history of mental illness, and if I remember correctly, she was in the middle of some type of breakdown. (I may be wrong).
Brooks, however, very deliberately ran people down. He was maliciously intentional, and just cares about himself. A despicable person who is not mentally il!.

man this is a slam dunk for the state. I could have been the prosecutor and won my first case lol.
I think the prosecutor is a very good speaker and seems highly educated on the legal aspects of this case. It’s definitely a slam dunk, but these attorneys are the face of justice for all these victims.

Yeah my dog could have prosecuted this case and won. Darrell Brook didn't make any persuasive arguments, he just displayed his obnoxious selfish self for all to see. Fair play to the judge and prosecution though, classy and professional throughout.

The fact that he rolled his eyes when the prosecutor was talking about how he ran his car into the parade, that says everything. Case made. He is a remorseless killer. The case was over as soon as it started.
Simply amazing that this guy has the gall to contest the facts and act as if the judge and prosecution are railroading him. The selfishness is overwhelming.

Now that the POS has been found guilty on all 76 charges, I can't wait until the victim impact statements are directed towards him at his sentencing, and they get to confront him to his face. He has shown no empathy at all, but has demanded that his rights not be violated. His mother is almost as bad as he is, when it comes to holding him accountable, she thinks he should go to a hospital instead of prison. She thinks he's been treated unfair at his trial, that he's a victim, but it was he who made a mockery of the court.
This hurts the soul. One of the saddest things I’ve heard. Can’t even begin to imagine how it must feel to have been in this incident. I hope and wish them they can find strength and love to get out of this nightmare. You feel there is not even a reason to try to understand why this has happened. But maybe a “why” could help them feel just a little bit better. It must be hard even on the prosecutors and the judge to have to work day in day out on this. A hug to everyone from Italy. L.
I live in Kentucky and I remember when I saw the story, with limited video, on the national news. I wanted to throw up, I was so upset.

I think Wisconsin wanted a speedy trial because they could’ve interviewed every victim and buried him but then all the victims would have to be crossed by their attacker.
They said early on thatthe DA was not going to put children on the stand. They were careful who the put on the stand. Helpfully their was a lot of video footage . 🤢
Yes! Listening to the medical reports make me sick. Broken bones, crushed pelvis', organ punctures (most of these injuries suffered by CHILDREN). Children! Which during his first interview and throughout the trial, he used his kids as a scapegoat. ,🤮

Very powerful stuff. One thing I would have added is that the damage to the SUV came soley from humans. He didn't hit any vehicles.

It is unfortunate the officer missed him with his 3 shots. These victims and families of those killed would not have to put up with him in trial. That is traumatizing all over again.
He couldn’t believe anyone would take a kill shot at hill. He really thought that was wrong and unfair. He went on and on about that. Only thing wrong with it was it missed.
It scares me to think of the amount of rage I would experience if a loved one of mine was a victim in this Horrific Act. How someone could do this and feel No Remorse for his senseless act, it is beyond my realm of comprehension. The irony of this trial happening during domestic violence awareness month
It is Appalling to see a perpetrator given the position to interrogate or question or even speak to anyone he (with no fair trial) has already given a life sentence to, the families of those he killed, those who lived through his actions but have to live with loss for the rest of their lives ….. he is guilty of so much more human suffering along with intentional homicide.

Because there is a little thing called “everyone has a right to a fair trial” I know it sounds crazy especially when there is solid proof. I personally feel if the proof is as solid as it is in this case that right should be revoked.. but, there is always a loophole to the law and monsters like this guy can get their last laugh. Insane. Just my opinion.
It's a case because he plead not guilty. He could have chosen to plead guilty, take accountability and spare the victims and their families as well as the witnesses, the continued trauma of this trial.
It broke my heart seeing the little boy. Jackson sparks. He was so little. And adorable. What a terrible act of what Darrell brooks did. ,
He deserves to never see the light of day again , he is a monster ! He has no remorse for what he did he’s so selfish and only worries for hisself and his children not for the victims , the families of victims and the ones that actually lost there life , this is such a sad case all the way around . The children are now traumatized for life & now lost all innocence . Praying for everyone ❤

Watching him appear to pray for the first half of the opening is disgusting. He isn’t praying for those he killed; he is praying for himself!
And that’s why I think some people’s version of Christianity is horrific and unjust. All he has to do is ask for forgiveness and he’ll spend an eternity in Heaven. But I totally agree that he could care less about those who affected.
Let me also add that I’m glad he’ll spend the rest of his life behind bars thinking on his crimes; nothing but an after thought as people gone on with their lives. That’s justice in a sense.

This case is horrible and his behavior makes it worse for the loved ones who lost people and for the injured. Whether they where injured physically or emotionally. It's shocking to see someone who committed such a heinous act get in front of the court and act this way. He is showing his true colors.

The lady police officer was amazing looking him in the eye and saying “I am looking at the person I saw that day” he thinks can convince the Jury he was not the driver while it is in all the videos and witnesses and the car is his mother’s. The Justice system should change and never allow a criminal to mistreat a judge, police officer, witnesses, experts, and the victims UNACCEPTABLE... it is also clear who is the plaintiff “it is us” DARREL BROOKS, the people of the United States, who want justice for the victims... And please cut your nasty nails. I feel for his children to have such a father is an embarrassment to them...
