Houseboats are one of the most technically impressive things they have done EVER! Imagine all of that on a powerful game engine. That would be the dream.
As someone who comes from a family of avid house boaters, house boats like the one in Sims 3 actually exists and looks very very similar, I don’t know about the Us but in Germany you can see them on ally the big lakes, they don’t really get moved that much since the shape makes it kinda hard, if you want to visit a bunch of places, your house boat is gonna look almost like a sized down yacht, just not as fancy but they often just have a chain railing, very steep stairs that are more so ladders and a bunch of windows everywhere for some reason, I’d definitely say that the build is pretty close but maybe it’s giving more yacht then house boat but hey either way it’s a slay…..that was not intended, but I’m leaving it cuz it’s funny
I have seen big yachts that function as houseboats. The "small" ones have two floors (one being under water, that's where the bedrooms would be), the bigger ones up 6 floors (then at least 2 floors would be under water). I don't know if people actually live on those, but I have seen rich people living on them on vacation. You can see a mid-size version of the boat I mean in Wolf of Wallstreet or Outer Banks :) or just google them :D keep in mind that a yacht like this costs more than a big house, so only extremely wealthy people would own a boat like this. Most have rented it and parked it in the harbour just to show off. source: having a boat crazy dad that went on long walks with me in the harbour to look at boats we would never be able to afford.
I look at a houseboat, kind of like a fifth wheel camper…glamping/gloating🤣 Definitely, you can have plants, candles, etc. on a houseboat! You just need to secure them to a stable surface. We use Velcro strips and 3M Command strips to lock down such items. We also store small items that can move in bins when we’re on the move. This keeps things from shifting or breaking👍🏻
My dad is obsessed with boats, so I’ve been on my fair share of docks. Usually the wood just looks really old and streaky and dark. The wood floors from horse ranch would work great, in case anyone still wants to know what wood works for docks in the Sims loll
A while back EA did a shell challenge with a plumbob shaped build. I made mine into a ship/houseboat. Sims Freeplay has houseboats, but they don't move.
I like to watch her videos, but watching her build makes me a bit anxious because of how insecure she is about her choices. It's funny and stressful at the same time. I wish I could tell her to just go for it.
Probably because of all the sims kids yelling in chat about every choice she makes. Sometimes I wish. I could tell them to just let her build! I see how stressed it makes Kayla and it's sad to see. I swear she picks carpet, they don't like it, she switches to wood, they liked the carpet better. I can see why it would be so stressful. Idk how Kayla does it.
People think of TS3 with rose tinted glasses. Yeah, it has cars and a lot of cool things, IN THEORY. It's so laggy. I can't even enjoy it with my gaming computer. Back on video topic: love the build! :)
There's a modded Isla Paradiso that's supposed to be more playable than EA's official town, but I never bought the pack because I heard it was buggy, so I don't know.
@@DizzyBusy Instant Gaming offers the whole collection of Sims 3 (base game + packs) for literal PENNIES!! You can get the *real* game this way, too :}
@@Anastasia-ex6sv Yes, it's by ellacharmed on Mod the Sims, it's called simply 'Isla Paradiso Fixed'. Ellacharmed made many EA world fixes. I use her fixed SimsUniversity World, and it works very well.
There are a few ways to fix island living, deleting some households and houses and houseboats work, there’s also a fixed version of the world online that you can download! The reason for the lag is because of badly built houses that causes sims to get stuck and also the households that live on houseboats when they try and move their houses 😆 you’d think they would’ve noticed how it wasn’t working well during testing before releasing the pack 😳
My experience is mostly with caravans, not boats, but they are similar in the constantly moving and limited space. The trash chute actually makes sense to me. Some bigger caravans have them, where the rubbish goes down into a small sealed-ish space that you then empty from the outside. Which would also make sense on a boat, if you're out on the water you need somewhere to put rubbish where it won't stink up the place. You can't have any regular tub or tile because the moving and flexing will cause cracking. I know a boat is a bit bigger, but I'm assuming it would still be a problem. Also the minimal clutter is likely very real. On the road, you gotta put everything away or else your place will end up looking like a snow globe and that's without waves XD
Sims 3 Island Paradise was the first big purchase I ever made with my own money from a part-time summer job and I don’t regret it, even with the crashing and lag. I spent hours building houseboats.
Very cute idea! I feel like this houseboat would’ve been great with a basement that could’ve been like the hull of the boat. But I’m not sure if you can do basements in the water in island living?
i’ve been asking about the sensitive hoodie restock for so long and i’m so glad they’re back!!! just ordered a black one and a necklace!!! thanks kayla
lifesaver to get island living to be less laggy: you gotta debug and/or delete stuck npc boats like every 20 minutes or so. thats the main reason the game lags :') the stop npc's from moving their houseboat mod sound like a good addition also
Isla Paradiso is a great world and houseboats are so cool! I just wish I could play it without turning the graphics so low they're almost 8-bit and shrinking the window size way too much to be comfortable.
i live on a boat full time and the boat-themed decor is so common! like people love to buy fish things (we had a fish lamp once lol) and things like that. side note: i love this shirt you've been wearing lately! anyone know where it's from?
im playing a save in island paradise rn and it works perfectly if u use nraas mods and delete a few of the households, remove the steering wheels from the house boats ur not using and use nraas mc to totally annihilate the scott family bc theyre broken. the town just has a lot of routing issues but its fixable. Also use the cheat to discover all islands bc it causes massive lag to have the fog over the islands.
I promise that grills are fine on a boat. So are candles. In most places you're required to have a fire extinguisher on your boat, and you'd be silly not to anyway, so as long as you follow proper fire safety you're good to grill.
You can always make another boat-house. Never too many of those :} Maybe find actual pictures for references so you be inspired, or learn how these houses work IRL
Simsie: "I can't tell if its cool or awful" Haha, I sometimes say the same thing when I'm trying on clothes. I never understood how I could think its one extreme or the other, but it is nice to see that other people think the same thing.
Houseboats are pretty to look at but much like I assume 99.9% of people who played the SIms 3, all I ever 'played' with in this world was that water moving along while literally everything else was frozen completely. Fun times.
As someone who has worked on a boat, a lot of what you were saying isn't allowed is absolutely allowed, a trash shoot would go to a trash bay, candles are fine unless there are stormy seas, ect
I love it. I like Sulani but not necessarily the houses because of the bamboo type decor. I'd rather have regular decor. I will download this and the cruise ship when you're done. How is Snap doing?

I was gonna say something similar. I’ve only ever had issues on one computer with that pack, the rest was fine, and I generally move my sims to that world at some point. I really think it’s hit or miss. The only part of my game that was ever really bad was in general build/buy lag, but that was when I was playing on a really old computer. I do think that island paradise might be the most temperamental pack they’ve ever released and it works for some and not others.
