I think a basement would have been a more realistic townhouse solution to the robotics room problem, but I kind of love the idea of them helping themselves to some room in the empty room next door.
Watching this after the for rent trailer release is so funny I genuinely can’t wait to see what you’ll do with the option to have real functional townhouses
In England where I'm from a lot of townhouses have an underground floor. You can see it from the front and can enter it from the front garden :)

You can use the roommate system for the other house and just lock it for them. They can have neighbor friends. Love the build ❤
That might be fun having some random sims so close to interact with. I did that for the trailer park my Sim lives in.

I know Simsie isnt a big fan of roomates, but it would be so cool if later on they can buy the house next door and rent it out. Imagine the crazy things the roomates would do and the storylines!
This is so cute! I love the pastel grandma vibes. And this lot would be perfect for a legacy challenge bc the previous gen can live next door if you get attached and don’t want to kick them out just yet.

Great work! As for the column problem at 5:08 ( you might already know this ) but I found that if you press the size up/ size down buttons on the keyboard it will make the column taller even if the arrow says it can't be any taller! Hope this helps!

I lived in a townhouse for most of my life and most townhouses have two floors and a basement, so if you need more space you can add a basement! (To keep with the story, you could say the previous owners lost the basement key and these new guys just found it!)
A secret robotics basement would have been rad.
in TS3, my favorite build was a triplex rowhouse, similar to what you're building here. The two units on the end were three stories, and the middle was two stories, so there was a patio space on their roof. I always made the two end units "fight" over the patio usage 😂 usually in an enemies-to-lovers story

i love this build so much! it reminds me of the houses in bremen, the city i was born in. they also have tiny front yards like this and most people have their trashcans and some gardening stuff there. so lovely to feel some german nostalgia like this. some family friends lived in houses like this, they're so beautiful but they have the steepest staircases. they're literally so steep, i don't even want to imagine moving into a place like this and carrying all of the furniture lmao
Maybe you could move the robotics machine to a basement and have that be a cool maybe-hidden lab?? Might be an interesting idea.
These type of townhouses are my favorite build to make I think. I just love them, they're so cosy but can be styled in so many different ways.
Kayla’s regular faux-multi-household builds just makes me want apartment lot types so bad man. I need it.

I was actually looking for a little townhouse like this for a few weeks now, because I like having a small house and then a roommate living in the house next to it in the sims! And this one is perfect ❤❤

looks so good! now I'm excited about the renovation. maybe they can keep the second front door and make it April's robotics lab? use the upstairs and half downstairs for the house, and the lab at the front. it would make sense if they wish to keep the kids away from the lab.
Lilsimsie usually doesn’t do builts that suit my style BUT THIS BUILT IS GENIUS! and imma use it !!!!! Is perfect for a starter home for sims in and out of college
I've built faux townhouses before! I use the debug houses from university to sandwich the house and make it look "realistic". it adds no value to the lot but goes a long way to make them look better! the only problem is it can be hard to look into the actual house at times
I'm obsessed with townhouses and whenever I build them I choose Britechester or San Sequoia just because the shells in the world are townhouse-y so it blends a bit better
By the way, the flowerbox idea was genius! I am sick of not being able to go to the edge of the lot with fences and walls.
Also, you could put a roof over the garden and have a shelter where you can have a mini greenhouse.

As someone who lives in an area with mainly townhouses and apartments I’m hoping this next EP mainly has those lot types. Especially with it being described as “neighborly” I think it’d be a missed opportunity

Yesssss who needs a realistic budget when you could do whatever you want? That’s my motto 🤣 I actually commend you for being able to limit your budget sometimes. Even when I try I can’t do it LOL. now I need to go build some townhouses bc these turned out so cute! I love the front yard, and the flower box right up against the sidewalk looks so realistic and nice!

I think you should plan to take over the other townhouse as you go along. Like, they bought the space and they’re renovating it for their expanding family.
In Germany we have a funny name for such types of houses: we call them "Doppelhaus" (in english double house). And one half of a townhouse is called "Doppelhaushälfte" (in english double house half). I think it's hillarious. 😂
You could move the old test lady into the right half of the house using the roommate system :D

I made a townhouse for the disney challenge recently. When the dwarves grew up, I needed a place for 4 of them to live. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, I am sure my lot was a larger one.
Naming their child Tinker Bell would be perfect!

And I've been watching lilsimsie on YT for years, but never knew about it being an inside joke, it always annoyed me thinking the editor constantly makes these errors... If it would be mentioned sometimes in the video, then maybe it would be an inside joke for us too. I'd much prefer that, or just cut the extra lines out. But not this.

Don't worry, it's actually pretty hard to accidentally fall off a flat rooftop, if you're not being a dumb###. A puzzle table and garden is perfectly fine, even without a fence on the roof. And its the sims! It's fiiiiiine

I did something similar, but I wanted something more realistic in expenses, actually starter home price, and 3 beds and baths for roommates, so it’s the 10k Salthouse lot in San Myshuno, and the townhouses are longer to fit the bedrooms. My poor sims will start with one crappy bathroom, air mattresses, a bookshelf, a couple counters, and a cooler. That’s all there’s money for. And I’ve decided it costs 50k to expand into the townhouse next door. They’re gonna have to work hard to get up to a decent existence, poor guys.
townhomes have basements a lot of times. thats an expansion option too.
Kayla have been doing that thing with fireplace and two book shelves at each side since that pack come out. Anyway it look great at the end.

Omg idea should have done three houses and put the middle one back one with the roof access on the back with a communal garden type area. Then take the middle house for your sims and make it look like it’s a fixer upper. Then the right side is a vacant move in ready lot. That your parents move into and buy when your sims have there first kid so the fam can help out. Then the house on the left can be your “______ neighbors”. From hoarders to dark secret perfect family.

What would have been super cute would be a duplex top and bottom. Where your sims live on the main floor with the hopes of buying the top floor. 🤗

I keep randomly forgetting about the sims, because, well...life stuff. So it's so funny when I remember it, boot my old laptop up and obsess over it every once in a while. I used to watch lilsimsie for hours in the background while playing, so here I am...back to old habits 😂
