I also get sleepy while hearing her videos, I guess it's because her voice is relaxing, that and the fact her content is also relaxing so ig it makes sense
I have anxiety and it's been bad recently due to a lot of happenings and I get like... it's not fear? It would be really interesting to see a series like this but with floorplans from around the world! It would be interesting to see the differences and similarities in how people live
As someone who lives in a very old house in England, these ‘new build’ American style houses are wild to me, they’re all so big and grand compared to the houses I’ve lived in.
I am a horrible builder, but after hours of work I was able to build my house in the sims (don’t ask me about the exterior or roof, because that’s a mess). You gave me confidence to build a house from scratch for the first time since sims 3! Lol.
My first time building was my irl childhood house and it was a hot mess lol, maybe I will try to build it again someday bc i got the lengths and sizes of things wrong lmao
The best way to go from a floorplan to sims w/o math or too much guessing is to first make the bathrooms. They are pretty much exactly 1:1 RL to Sims, so making bathrooms, and then the kitchen really helps complete the rest of the plan by just counting the size based on those.
Rug on carpet (or any floor type really) helps retain heat in a room when it’s very cold, and is breathable when it’s hot out so it’s not making it too hot. I lived in a trailer house with no ac or heat for a year and we lived by rugs in every room, we had three in the kitchen alone
Get what you're saying about the closets but you don't have to neccesarily build your own, we have that Get Together one. Granted I get that the Sims version would benefit more from desks but maybe at least one is that closet? Plus extra woohoo spot. Also a rug on carpet isn't weird, it's actually kind of a feng shui thing, it helps to create zones, sleeping, walking, etc. Helps to make a room feel more cozy and in this case, might help you/the sims sleep better
when i build a lot that includes a garage, i use the City Living mural garage door on the exterior and interior. it makes it seem more realistic depending on the style of the build.
I tried to recreate my own house and it was harder than I thought! Trying to make our half bath the real size meant the toilet was unusable because it was too close to the sink, so I had to cut out the closet that was on the other side of it to make room. It was a fun challenge though, and it's fun to see my house when I go into that save!
This one is so realistic! Love it! Only thing is I swear there's blinds instead of curtains in newer houses, almost always. 😭 Also YES PLEASE post the Florida house! Both sets of my grandparents and the majority of my extended family live in FL so my family visited multiple times a year growing up. Now that I'm married and moved out I don't get to visit much, but I remember Florida fondly even though the whole government side of it is a disaster... but that's a lot of places. I always loved the houses there, because everyone I knew down there had a pool and a garden and some kind of swamp nearby lol. And they always had good sidewalks to walk on, which was not my experience in rural Alabama... though back in my early childhood Wisconsin days, we could literally walk from our home ALL THE WAY to the library on a sidewalk. It was wild. ANYWAY. Love your videos, thank you for giving me good inspo! I struggle with realistic house builds for sure lol.
I will never get over the fact, that entrances that are not seperated from the living room are real. In the countries where i have lived, they are usually a small room, completely cut off with a wall and door from other parts of the house. Honestly, American houses are wild, I've always lived in 'townhouses' in England, regular old terraced teeny tiny houses. Kinda looking forward to the new pack so i can actually build a lot that looks like my house without it sticking out like a sore thumb in the middle of the lot 😂 Also on the 'rugs on carpet' thing! Absolutely rugs on carpet! It protects the carpet from spills and pets and stuff, adds extra insulation if you've got a landlord special ultra thin carpet and lets you funky up a space so its not all like... Beige 😂 Something sims also don't care about but I very much do is cold feet! Rugs everywhere! 😂

I'm going to build a house using Lennar or D.R. Horton/Pacific Ridge plans. Just have to keep watching more of your videos to make sure I know how. Have to figure out stairs and building the 2nd floor.
Realistically I never understand when people want the master bedroom clumped together with the other bedrooms.. for fairly obvious reasons that just seems scarring to the kids. It also just allows for privacy all around. If the parents want peace and quiet they can have it. If the kids want to listen to their music they can since they're on the other side of the house. Just naming a few examples there. I always see like couples with a newborn that want a house with the bedrooms close by saying they don't want to be away from the baby but then you see literally every other parent regretting that choice once they realize there's no privacy that way.
Im so mad that the sims doesnt have split leveling because I live in pittsburgh and we have a lot of houses on hills that end up with split leveling so I cant even build a suburban pittsburgh style house

My great grandma always had her house painted hot HOT pink. Since her passing, my aunt and her family have moved in and they've kept it Nana's favorite pink shade with her roses out front. She would be happy to know the outside is the same, even if the inside has been changed up. Even 8 years since her passing you can occasionally smell her perfume walking in the hallway between the bedrooms and the den/kitchen/living room. You should totally post the Florida house build you were talking about in the end! I love seeing realistic homes that i would see just like driving down the road.
It would be so much fun to see your building a typical German house! We have so many typical but also weird houses. Some of them are just a two storey boxes with a few windows
I share your hatred. When I bought my apartment, I quickly realised that these carpet floors are like cat hair magnet, horrible to clean. Not to mention that somebody thought it was okay to put them in the living room. Try having friends over and never spill anything on it!
Same. You can never have a real clean house with carpet floors. Especially when you have kids, pets or even if you are just clumsy. One spill and it's sticky forever
I had carpet as a kid, then lived without for years. I really romanticized the idea of it. Then I actually got carpet again and realized I HATE it. Hardwood floors and a nice rug all day long
Same here, I hate them! Especially after I had a very bad experience. I moved in place where carpet floors were everywhere even in my university and they were so dirty 😖
It has bothered me for a long time we don’t have smoke alarms for the sims on the ceiling, I’ve never seen a smoke alarm on a wall where I live unless I travel out of state, and now that we have ceiling paint we need nice ceiling things, like lil glowing stars, fire alarm, fans ground and ceiling, and different paints specifically for ceilings, anyways enough of my ceilings rant 😂 I loved this house it was so cute
This just made me realize how different peoples houses or preference of houses can be! I don’t mind the square-ish house or that floor plan, and I think a lot of her ideas for inside the house are weird and that’s just so interesting to me! ❤
💯 I fully agree with you. A house doesn't have to be complex and full of arbitrary bump outs. Mostly square or rectangular shaped houses are very common. Then there might be one bump out from a renovation.
really tho! most houses in general are pretty similar. they're either long boxes with one floor, or squareish boxes with multiple floors. windows relatively equally spaced in front. bedrooms and shared living spaces mostly separate from each other, either by stairs or by a hallway. occasionally there's a room or two added on in a bump out. and there might be a porch or portico adding some dimension in the front. that's about it. i don't really mind how it looks in sims, looks pretty similar to real life 🤷🏻
I think a more realistic house would have missmatching stuff, speacilly woods! Since you initicialy just buy whatever is the best price and that >kinda< fits in, not completly... So a more realistic house would have, for example, a lot of dark toned wood, but not exactly the same coloured wood. Or even same colour and tone, but different pattern of wood 😂 (I love doing that on Sims 3!)
That's a good thing. Build your way. Find your own build style. And for whatever reason Kayla makes builds more complicated than necessary. Most real houses are just a big rectangle. And for the life of me, I don't understand why she claims she struggles to make floor plans for those type of houses. The simplest way to set up a floor plan is to have one room essentially be the hub, from which most of the rooms come off of.
@lexvt3551 that's what porches, patios and or landscaping is for. What I do, typically is a square or rectangle with a garage on the side that doesn't fully line up, to act as the bump out, then a front porch, and you can still have a "box" not look like a box from the outside.
i work in construction in mass and it’s a lot of snap together vinyl flooring that i put in and you’re so right about the funk tile i’ve done a few of those and they’re so fun! a good change from the grey that’s trending rn
Carpeted floors is so strange to me. Here we use vinyl and wood for rooms and tiles for kitchens, hallways (because here entryway is in the hallway), bathrooms. Also, here you rarely see wallpaper. No fence?!? No way!! Here they are either from brick or really sharp on the upper side
As someone who lives in Europe, it’s almost fascinating to see how American houses are built. Where I’m from, the dining room and kitchen are connected, and there’s a sliding door in the kitchen, and it’s tile on the floor, but not on the walls. And in all the bedrooms there’s wood floor, and the stairs are like floating, no under wall thingys, and the floor plan for the first and second floor are the EXACT same, besides the room next to mine not being a bedroom, but a laundry room😭
This gives me a new series idea similar to the old fixer upper videos - people submit their own realistic houses (like first goes at building, or building irl places in the Sims as accurately as possible), and Simsie has to make them look good in the Sims without losing the vibes of the original build lmao
the way i barely play the sims anymore but still watch simsie everyday

@@michaylalovitt2796 haha i love every bit of this! don't mess with Nana! Thanks for letting us strangers know her a little. :)
You should totally post the Florida house build you were talking about in the end! I love seeing realistic homes that i would see just like driving down the road.
It would be so much fun to see your building a typical German house! We have so many typical but also weird houses. Some of them are just a two storey boxes with a few windows
Omg I would love to see that

Oh hallo!! Jaa 🥲🤧
Wäre so geil
Damals sahen meine buildings wirklich immer so aus :D
I have a burning hatred for carpet floors… first Reno I did moving into my new house was rip out the carpet in my bedroom 😂
One spill and it's sticky forever
yes I've had it in my childhood bedroom and hated it even as a child 😂 never want them again!
Yes, most houses I've lived in or lived near are squares/rectangles. Real houses are usually the plain box that simmers tend to dislike.
really tho! most houses in general are pretty similar.
they're either long boxes with one floor, or squareish boxes with multiple floors. windows relatively equally spaced in front. bedrooms and shared living spaces mostly separate from each other, either by stairs or by a hallway. occasionally there's a room or two added on in a bump out. and there might be a porch or portico adding some dimension in the front. that's about it.
i don't really mind how it looks in sims, looks pretty similar to real life 🤷🏻
Your drive and passion for the sims 4 has me constantly opening the game :) thank you for encouraging such fun ideas!
same!
i’m team rug on carpet. a rug is used to break up space so regardless if you have wood or carpet floors you gotta break up the room!
I love how she just forgot about the closets from get together.
And the city living storage doors that work as garage doors lol
My brain doesn’t work the way Kayla’s does when it comes to building 😂
same 😂
That's a good thing.
@@andrewmoeller1987 i also find it hard to make floorpans out of a rectangle. if theres bump outs in the house i find it sooo much easier
@@andrewmoeller1987 I think a big rectangle in the Sims would look horrible from the outside with no accents or bump outs
@lexvt3551 that's what porches, patios and or landscaping is for. What I do, typically is a square or rectangle with a garage on the side that doesn't fully line up, to act as the bump out, then a front porch, and you can still have a "box" not look like a box from the outside.
I haven't watched you in ages but now I'm coming back to the sims and your videos always make me laugh
❤❤❤ love it
i work in construction in mass and it’s a lot of snap together vinyl flooring that i put in and you’re so right about the funk tile i’ve done a few of those and they’re so fun! a good change from the grey that’s trending rn
My actual house is just a big square with a smallll bump out for the dining room. As a simmer it makes me cry every time
I felt that haha
I feel you. Mine is a literal square😭😭
I live in a 1980s semi split in the US and it is impossible to make a playable version of my house that doesn't look weird. 😢
Same tbh
Saaaame, we have a back garage though
Looking up floorplans and recreating them is one of my favorite things to do in TS4
Carpeted floors is so strange to me. Here we use vinyl and wood for rooms and tiles for kitchens, hallways (because here entryway is in the hallway), bathrooms.
Also, here you rarely see wallpaper.
No fence?!? No way!! Here they are either from brick or really sharp on the upper side
with apartments coming out i am kinda tempted to recreate a better version of university dorms
As someone who lives in Europe, it’s almost fascinating to see how American houses are built. Where I’m from, the dining room and kitchen are connected, and there’s a sliding door in the kitchen, and it’s tile on the floor, but not on the walls. And in all the bedrooms there’s wood floor, and the stairs are like floating, no under wall thingys, and the floor plan for the first and second floor are the EXACT same, besides the room next to mine not being a bedroom, but a laundry room😭
please post the florida house build - it would be so iconic
yes pls!
I search house architecture sites for Sims build inspiration. It’s been great practice for different styles!
oh thats so cool!
16 seconds what. hope you're having a great weekend at your grandma's!
it's totally realistic to put a rug on carpet. breaks up the monotony of the floor space and is extra nice if it has a different texture to the carpet
This gives me a new series idea similar to the old fixer upper videos - people submit their own realistic houses (like first goes at building, or building irl places in the Sims as accurately as possible), and Simsie has to make them look good in the Sims without losing the vibes of the original build lmao
