Kayla, you gotta understand that the vast, VAST majority of people follows you to WATCH you build fun stuff, the same way we'd watch an artist draw. People rarely care about downloading the exact copy with every single clutter item. Twitch chat wants unlimited packs, RUclips comments want unlimited packs. Limiting packs feels like watching an artist draw but using only 5 crayola crayons when they have 500 expensive markers that would make the drawing pop.

Seriously I kinda hate that. She feels like she has to do the limited pack builds or people will complain but really when it comes down to it i want to see her build something good, i personally have every single pack except like 10 kits and batuu so id be able to download her builds and its not her fault if people are children that cant buy all the packs or broke?!?!?!?! Sometimes when she talks about limiting the packs because “its not fair because some people only have basegame or basegame and a few packs” i feel like screaming at my screen “AND HOW IS IT YOUR FAULT THAT THEYRE BROKE SIS???”
agreed!! i like those limited builds, but there is just SO much clutter from packs that work so well for different themes and what not
I completely agree. It’s more fun to watch build videos than it is to actually download and play in them. Having base game/limited pack builds to download is nice and very helpful but there should be a balance that allows for unlimited pack builds as well. Plus who cares if every person can’t download every build. When I watched videos like these as a kid who couldn’t afford all of the packs, I wasn’t thinking about how I couldn’t download it, I was thinking about how fun it was to watch.

for when you asked abt how people feel abt limited pack builds, i feel that most of us don’t mind limited pack or limited budget builds, its just when doing both together like a no pack build with a tight budget, it heavily limits creativity, just something i noticed!
Big agree! Some packs just come with expensive things and I'd rather see her use them all in a limited pack build. Not everyone has all the packs but everyone has money cheats!

Personally, as someone who watches all of Simsie's videos but does not own the Sims 4, I prefer unlimited pack builds because I like to see how creative Simsie can be without pack limitations (but I totally get that people who have the games but not certain packs would like to sometimes see a build they can download)
My thing though is you can download anyyyyyy build you don’t need all the packs you can modify it with what you have.
so how is it Simsies fault that some people are broke or children lmao . I have every single pack so I would love to see her build with whatever she wants to cause I can download it all and i will stand by she should use WHATEVER to make the build look good and if that means she used 5 game packs 2 stuff packs and 2 expansions or whatever in her build then….. too bad so sad for the people who cant have everything its still downloadable and you can customize it it is not as big of a deal as she is making it
Yeah i have all the packs so idc but i only download buildings to substitute bad EA buildings tbh, so i think making THOSE pack limited is best but otherwise its fun to watch her have a lot on her hands!

She's said a ton of times that she does limited pack builds because when she was younger, she felt sad watching builds with lots of cool stuff she couldn't have. It's actually a good thing that she has empathy for other players who don't own everything.
If Matt Patt got a FNAF movie cameo, Kayla you definitely deserve a Sims Movie cameo. The fact that all of us start with a cow plant named Lil Simzee in our games is a testament to that. You do so much good in the world and for this community

I like Kayla, I wouldn't want to torture her. I've done four at once on long lifespan and it was so incredibly hard. Someone will fail and end up on academic probation, guaranteed.

About the limited pack thing, I completely understand what it's like to have none of the packs and watching youtube content with stuff that I do not own and it making me sad. But also, it gives people the opportunity to live through you and see how creative this game can be. There's only so much you can do with just the base game, and seeing your creativity is way more fun in my opinion. Don't feel so guilty, it's okay to sometimes have fun and go all out

you said it really well! "living through" content creators is really accurate when it comes to games like this, or stardew or minecraft for me especially. i rarely play despite owning because i find enjoyment in watching people fully show their creativity and THEIR enjoyment

Limited pack builds are good when you're reviewing a specific pack or kit, but in general, i like when you lose lots of packs! It's more fun to watch someone build a place with variety.

I think you have done a great job balancing the amount of limited pack builds and unlimited pack builds. Sometimes a limited pack build is a fun challenge, but being able to see all the cool stuff in the rest of the packs is better in my opinion! Love you Kayla!!

i liked the chaos, having your sims house get robbed while you were away or sleeping upstairs was always funny, the sims should at least bring that back

I like the settings when it comes to chaos. I play sims to destress, not to be further stressed😂 but I have friends who love the stress in game so I def think settings is a happy medium, you can turn the chaos on and off as needed/wanted
Every time I see someone complain about a casual game being too easy I always wonder what their goal is when playing. I’m with you, the Sims is my relaxing game. If I wanted to be challenged I’d just play Zelda instead.
Yep me too, my sims are almost always living a perfect happy life, I don’t like a ton of drama. But I can see how that would be fun as well!

A trans charity stream wasnt something i expected but I couldn’t be happier that its taking place!! Things have been rough particularly on state and local levels, and seeing support from anyone can be very encouraging for people in the community. Cant wait 4 the stream!!!
every time Kayla talks about how difficult university is in the Sims 4, I chuckle. I start all my sims as teenage runaways (Rags to Riches Style) so I can prepare them to qualify for university scholarships because I send ALL my sims to university, each term with the max classes, and scholarships are pretty much sending your sims to college for free. I always play groups of 3-5 teen sims preparing for university so I tend to have 3-5 sims in university and manage to get them all with A/A+ in both high school and university. I make sure A/A+ in high school to qualify for one of the scholarships, my sims tend to qualify for around 5 scholarships each. I've never struggled with this. but I do struggle with building and trying to record my sims gameplay! each person has their talents lol
It was difficult playing six to eight college Sims before the calendar became base game. I used to hand-write the schedules to ensure everyone made it to class on time, lol. Now the most annoying part is just having to enroll each Sim separately.

I think the student side having the tv in a "weird" place makes a lot of sense. It reminds me of how my roommates and I had to put our tv in a corner because of the bad outlet placement.
Yeah, I currently flipped my bookshelf to use as a TV stand and put my TV on it lol
completely unrelated, but i had this video playing on the tv while i was preparing lunch for my lil cousin, who i was babysitting, and he's not fluent in english, but he just sat right up close to the tv the whole time and midway, he went "i like pink girl, she fun" asgukcwabskblnfs anyways, gonna leave your channel on to entertain him while i do chores ^^

I love your limited pack builds! It’s a fun challenge for you to use items you don’t commonly use, plus more fun for me as someone who doesn’t own a lot of packs. I much prefer limited packs to limited funds. I like the idea of randomly generating a few packs and using them to create something 😊
I enjoy specific limited pack challenges but with builds like this one I prefer it as unlimited so you can be more creative 😊

also i 100% agree with you about chaos settings, that's common in a lot of the mods i use and i think it absolutely makes sense for the base game. i have a theory it's one of the elements they lost in development crunch.

As much as I appreciate you using limited packs as a person that doesn’t have many, I can always go in and furnish it myself, watching how creative you are with building is so much fun, especially when you don’t have that limit

I love both unlimited and limited packs builds. As a point of interest I downloaded your blue suburban neighborhood without then having some of the packs because I absolutely love the build! I say do what you're inspired to do
Build challenge idea: first THEN last swatch
You have to use the first swatch of every item, then at the end switch ever time to the last swatch and see how it looks!
For the randomness of the sims 4 i personally like that its pretty relaxed but i like the idea of a setting where you can change how chaotic the game is! Kinda how a lot of games have difficulty's from easy to hard!
Although it is unwarranted my ideas on limited or unlimited packs is that using less packs to me can make the build seem more cohesive since you don’t have to combine as many materials that weren’t “intended” to go together. I still have most of the packs and am bad about using one thing from one kit. In my opinion it’s really to each their own of what kinda build you wanna make.
The townhouse with the law teacher and student housing reminds me of the show , “How to Get Away With Murder”
tbh a 8 college students challenge sounds like so much chaos - i love it! :D I recently had a sims doing University move im with her boyfriend, who also was enrolled and it is so hard to keep track of the homework and everything. The boyfriend even started in my household with being on notice and in the end beeing banned to enroll in Uni again for a week because of his grades!

personally i prefer unlimited builds, i love seeing what you can do when you’re not trying to avoid using certain things and just using what you want to use
Oooo the professors townhouse is nice! It really fits with that vibe! And the black and pink sides is super cute and such a fun telling of the story. I loved watching this! And I'm interested in the new sims movie so we'll see how it actually turns out! I'm also definitely down to have the sims be a little more crazy but maybe not to an extreme, happy medium like you said!
About the 'limited or no limited pack'- topic. (English is not my first language so i hope everything makes sense) I truly appreciate you thinking about people who want to download this, and not playing with cc for console players. It's nice to be able to download builds off the gallery. But from the perspective of a vieuwer on RUclips, I personally think it's more entertaining & the builds come out better when you don't use any restrictions (only basegame or budget and stuff). I think most of your subscribers will enjoy building themselfs, because why else watch 'building videos' literally every day 😅 So maybee thats why the poll votes come out like that. If i'm speaking for myself, I watch you for entertainment and building inspiration (and sims news). But I think your balance between limitations and no limitations is perfect right now. Something for everyone.

I think limited pack builds are helpful because I have a decent amount of packs but I hate downloading houses and then having to go back and fix everything that came from packs I don’t have. Unlimited pack builds are great. but sometimes like in this case I think limited is better for someone who would want to replace their lot with this one and university and do it with no problems! 👍🏼
Seeing the creativity on houses you make for yourself though is amazing and I’d love to see more but I think there should be some balance.
I love that Kayla said she didn’t decorate the houses FOR the Pleasants but then made one of the students' bedrooms fit the Pleasants perfectly
i wish the sims 4 was more random, I get so bored and tired of having to do everything myself and plan everything out!!!! But i don't get that feeling with Sims 2, I can kinda let the sims make their own choices and I can tailor the game to them, rather than tailoring it to me. :)
More chaos and more random - always! I would love to have them bring back the completely unhinged mayhem that was TS2

Just had an idea for a challenge, don‘t know if you did it before:
An unlimited pack build, but you can only use every pack once. So once you used a chair or wallpaper from growing together, you can‘t use anything else from that pack!
Sounds really fun, I'm just worried about the amount of items you could have in total
Okay, just to ask. Does this mean you can only use one counter for the kitchen, or can you use multiple of the same item?
@@Sam1D28that‘s a good question, I think for auto-connect stuff as kitchen counters it should be fine to use the same pack, as long as it‘s connected. A detached kitchen island counter should be a different pack though!
id love a sort of “difficulty” that would add more randomness to the gate tbh, cuz sometimes i want chaos and guided gameplay and other times i want a break from life and want perfect lmao
The windows covering the front makes total sense when you consider that they are terraced so the sides of the buildings have no windows at all, if the front and back wasn't covered in windows likely some rooms would have no windows at all, and having lived in a couple terraced houses before, that totally happens sometimes lol😂
I love Simsie and the community. A great safespace for us folks in the LGBT+ space. Though she doesn't talk much about politics, she understands what is best for humanity.

I will always respect your faithfulness towards making builds downloadable for a wider variety of people. You have often spoken about not being able to download stuff in sims3, and i also think you're aware of the fact that some of those that may benefit from the reduced packs build don't necessarily have the same voice as the all packs enjoyers. You are also committed to your integrity, and i appreciate that too. Love from sweden ❤
I personally love the random-ness and feel like it really builds story and can be helpful for keeping the game fun.
While i love pack limited builds for some particular type of buildings (like starter houses or high schools), most of the time I love all pack builds AND i actually would love to see you build with CC more often!
As a college student in a dorm. Yes we do have the same wood veneer furniture everywhere. And I actually do decorate a lot. I wanted it to make it feel more like mine
i think this building idea is so fun, and makes me think that the other lot should be of the same thing but opposite (foxbury professor and ubrite students) just for extra chaos on this street
an 8 sim student challenge is definitely do-able! i found it easy enough by doing homework in the order of the classes, enrolling on a friday so i could get the presentations/term papers/homework ready for the start of term, selecting 3 modules per term instead of the 4, and picking babysitting as a job for all of them since it's only on a weekend. doing their homework as soon as they leave the class keeps you on track, and of course selecting "take notes" for every class keeps their grade up. it's also better if they have different degrees cause all of their schedules are different so one can cook for everyone else if they are all at a class. it felt like a full time job but at least they all ended up with an a+ and were all the top of their classes 😅
I never ever download the builds, I just love watching them get built. I suspect I'm in the majority here. I like to take inspiration from watching you to build better lots in the Sims game myself, so I'm not bothered at all by how many packs and kits you use in your own builds - I'm here for entertainment and inspitstion, as I suspect many of us are.

I love when simsie challenges herself, I can see she likes to do limited pck/budget builds. But i also love when she lets the creativity flow! Keep doing your thing the way you feel better about!
I like to think the students wouldn't go as far as to vandalize their neighbor's home--for one, because they don't want to get arrested, but two: because there's kids living there, and the kids didn't do anything. I like to imagine they'd have some decency, especially if they say hi to the kids every once in a while ahjsdkfk
I think if there was a chaos mode on sims 4 that would be perfect. But for the most part I get so attached to my sims and then get sad when bad things happen to them!! So I think I like having more control as a player! But it would be fun to be more chaotic sometimes.

Ok… get this, the main character realizes they’re in a simulation and stops following the commands they’re being asked to do… then BOOM 💥 cuts to Kayla playing on her computer going “ah no! don’t just stand there! My game froze … what if I just reset my sim” 👀 I would love that
8 uni students??? I would crumble! I've never sent a student to live at University before, but I tend to send my Sims while living at home. In my legacy family, it is really common for me to have two go at once, and everyone else in the house is completely neglected...and each generation, I say enough. These two don't NEED to go to university! I'm going to save the stress and skip it...but it's almost a family tradition now and when they are old enough, I always cave and send them, lol. Also, I love watching you build using any and all packs. :)
the sims movie HAS to be a horror where its just like absolute chaos as if its from the perspective of a sim whos being tortured ex pool no latter

I do prefer control in my Sims games I found neighbourhood stories got out of hand too quickly, I left it to its own devices and everyone had either 5 children or 5 dogs or cats and it was killing Sims left right back centre so I had to stop it.
I didn't want any Sims I was attached to dying, my hubby calls me a control freak because of that lol, but I just want my Sims to live happy full lives and maybe yes I have plans and I'd prefer them to stick to them but sometimes when I'm playing the game then takes my Sims in directions I never expected it to and I allow it to lol, it sometimes decides who they get with by who they meet for example and I let it 😊
I am loving this build, I am not playing 4 uni Sims at once though. I used your other build to use For Rent and swap between two Sims and play uni that way, two total courses and like one extra curricular and that worked out easier lol. As I find three or four courses more of a slog, they never get chance to socialise or do anything, and this way my Sim Mia was able to work on her robotics skill and max it. But that's not to say I wouldn't love to watch you attempt it! 😂
We only had chairs, I think they were plasticy but with wooden arms etc, but I lived in dorms, I had personal issues during my second year, so didn't get to move into a student house like I planned to, but it was en-suite bathrooms and really good internet so it wasn't too bad so I stayed there for three years in Coventry (I'm also from the UK lol) wow not thought about Uni in ages lol!
Oo can't wait to add some Sims in to play in it! 😊🥰 I've noticed the rooms in the uni household are split into two Sims so I think I'll split the households that way, two Sims I think I may be able to manage at uni lol, four at one go...no way lol! 😅

I think it's especially funny to think of an RP moment for this build. I love that there's a professor on one side who is just trying to live a peaceful life with their family. I like the idea that the student-rented townhouse is owned by an alumni of Foxbury, or someone associated with Foxbury (maybe it's owned and subsidized by Foxbury, I've seen that with apartments near private unis) who knows that the neighbor is a Brightchester professor, and is trying to sabotage them by renting to students lol.

Why am i now imaging Stanley as one of the characters ins his hotdog costume compaining about the overlord makling him stand for hours in the rain to catch fish. Then it cuts to a shot of Kayla doing one of her "can you get rich" game plays and it shows Stanley and the other sim stood at the river bank fishing.

The Barbie/goth room looks very similar to mine and my roommates dorm! I have a very pink, kawaii side and she has a very celestial/horror themed side. And since we started living together, we now have semi matching hello kitty posters and semi matching flower pots that really bring together the opposite themes!

The unlimited packs/money builds should be your default - it means you can have lots of creativity rather than limiting yourself most of the time. Not everyone watches builds to download them (I bet most people don't!). I like your builds but they're very samey a lot of the time because they're always limited/base game/starters. A challenge is fun to do, but it shouldn't be every other video, maybe just like 25% of builds?
