I’d love to see you attempt the coloring book build challenge. Everything has to be placed in white and you can’t look at or change the colors until everything is placed. So when you chose a wallpaper in white you can only use that wallpapers other swatches when you “color it in”.
The slight lack of cohesion this challenge creates makes the home look more lived in which is nice :) Like woods not being matched & stuff is pretty real lol
yes! the only time wood tones usually match irl is in the actual building structure (like wood floors might match stairs, railings, cabinets...) or if it's a matching furniture set (which usually means it's limited to one single room, and is more common if people have just moved in or just renovated). or else if it's all painted black or white, cuz that's usually an option and it's also easy to do yourself. having everything match makes sims builds look like pre-furnished new development homes - which can def work for some stories, but usually just looks Weird and Fake to me
I was going to say the same thing. It feels like a real life house. Things not always match and half of things you buy are either white, black or for appliances just stainless steel.
What if we just make it a "no color you use frequently (white-black, blue, beige, etc). She specifically has to use colors she DOESN'T use. The only house I've seen where she's done that was the 'most expensive' build with the pink chairs and bed, and the color challenge where she builds everything in black and white, then she turns color back on.
This house feels so real and cozy. It kind of makes sense if you think about it because when you have a theme going and you go furniture or decor shopping, what are the odds that every item has the same wood color or same shade of green/blue/orange/red as the rest of your decor. Or you genuinely can't afford the item that matches perfectly
This feels like a real home. Like, someone who could finally afford a house but couldn't afford to get their furniture all at once, so they have a hodge-podge of thrifted items, gifts, souvenirs, family heirlooms, and a couple big-ticket items. I really like that kind of style because it's so organic and tells a story. "Nothing matches."
I’d love to see a challenge with a wheel that spins on a number and it determines which swatch you use for that room so if it lands on #4 each item you use has to be the 4th swatch of the item. Etc
I would love to see Simsie do a No Blue build challenge! She can build & furnish however she wants, there just can’t be any blue anywhere. I think it would make a fun video to watch :)
I have a story in my brain for the family who lives here. It is a slightly older couple with a 10 year old daughter. They like to keep their house very clean and are the type of people who bought really nice matching furnishings for the whole house and then never touched it again. Like those houses you go to where it feels like half of the furniture is only for display. The daughter is kind of calm for her age because her parents are older, and she likes to play outside alone often ( think Harriet the spy). I don't know why I thought this.
heres an example for a video idea, for living room you click on couches in the shop thing then use a number generator to pick one, then the living room has to be that style, for bathroom you would pick a toilet or shower, so on and so forth
Looks so good! I wish you could try a version leaning into the vibrant colors of some of the default swatches! Maximalist interior design would be so good for this challenge (:
this challenge is so my builds when i first started playing sims 2 because i didn’t know there were other swatches and i didn’t know how to rotate items so it was a hot mess
I think this challenge turned out pretty great! But... am I the only one that was anxious seeing kayla putting the kids bed right by the door instead of switching it with the desk?
Kayla: Now we have to work on the exterior which I don’t think will be as difficult.. LITERALLY 10 SECONDS LATER.. Also Kayla: I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO THE LANDSCAPING… This tree looks bad, all the trees look baad, the house looks bad
This is a great house for basic family gameplay, it has loads of stuff in it and it's quite simple so if you struggle building, like me... it's a good house to download and you can add and change stuff to suit your sims. Love it ❤
Kayla I know u hate it but I promise it actually looks way better when you mix the colors! Not everything has to be the EXACT wood or the exact shade of blue! You should try go out your confort zone cuz you’re really good at it and this house proves it😊😊
I’d love to see this challenge as base game only! I feel like it’d remind me of how I played the Sims when I was younger 😂 That scary polka dot kids room wallpaper unfortunately was the one I ALWAYS used for kids rooms as a kid
How about a challenge where you roll a random number per room, and whatever number you get is the swatch number you have to use for everything in that room?
how did simsie manage to pull off my *favourite* colour scheme, when she couldn't even change swatches?? the white - creme - sand - teal - sky blue is absolutely stunning! kayla is so good at this ☺️
I would love to see a building challenge with the packs you just "accept". For example I would really like to see you furnish more with the paranormal stuff pack! This is maybe also an idea for the apartment expansion pack coming soon... you could make apartments with stuff pack only themes!
I feel like an even harder challenge would be building a house using only the last swatch! It adds to the complete chaos and unexpected possible color palettes.
19:32 "Now we have to work on the exterior, which I don't think will be as difficult; most of the landscaping only has one swatch anyway, so it won't be too bad to do landscaping with default swatches." **literally 2 seconds later** "Ugh, I don't know how to do the landscaping!" 😂😂😂
I saw this building challenge on TikTok and immediately thought it would be perfect for Lilsimsie. The challenge is set up so that each room represents a different expansion pack, but you're not allowed to use that pack to build. So, for example, the exterior might be Cottage Living and should look like a cottage, but you can use any pack except Cottage Living.
Kayla should totally attempt this in base game... total chaos! I had the base game only for a short amount of time, and it was very limiting, especially all the build mode textures etc., they all have a 'base game look/stigma'.
What about random number picks my swatch? Like random number is 4 then you pick the 4th swatvh of everything in the living room, random number is 6 you pick swatch 6 in the bedroom items
I think this came out great!! When in doubt, go with neutrals. My only minor gripe is that '70s-looking rug by the fireplace (just a hair too dark for my taste), but I definitely don't think it was a bad choice or anything. You managed to keep a consistent color scheme, and this is a very respectable build, challenge or not =) And yes, please do just base game lol
Yes! Base game first swatch challenge awaits :D You should totally do that, this one was fun :) And the end result was surprisingly making the lived vibe :)
I’d love to see you attempt the coloring book build challenge. Everything has to be placed in white and you can’t look at or change the colors until everything is placed. So when you chose a wallpaper in white you can only use that wallpapers other swatches when you “color it in”.
that is a very cool idea
That actually sounds super interesting!
i'm doing this as soon as i can get to my game lol
@@ennaa2577if you want to see this, Syd Mac did a video on it!!!
If you play the Sims a lot this challenge is easy because you know swatches of certain things
The slight lack of cohesion this challenge creates makes the home look more lived in which is nice :) Like woods not being matched & stuff is pretty real lol
Its such a pet peeve of mine when ALL of the wood stuff match, so thank god 😭
I was thinking the same tbh it's so much more realistic! In real life we can't just change color swatches 😂 would be nice though
@@juliacksame!! it all blends in and is so low contrast that u cant find anything.

I think this build feels quite realistic! Things don’t exactly match but they all go together by bringing in colours from other rooms.
Yep :)
I need Simsie to do a "Nothing White" challenge because I think that's what would really mess with her
Or even worse, no blue! 😂
@@AveryKrysteneno more blue suburbans :(
What if we just make it a "no color you use frequently (white-black, blue, beige, etc). She specifically has to use colors she DOESN'T use. this is literally me before i realized you could change the colors when i was like 8
thats sweet i bet you were so excited when you realised you could change them
As a kid I didn't know you could change the orientation of items for like 2 years! I remember being so upset because my dresser was facing the wall
@@midnightramen1422Nooo 😭😭
I'm so proud Kayla! You built a blue AND BEIGE suburban! /lh
I feel like base game needs whole new colors on almost every item 😅
i agree bc i only have like two packs, uni and tint living lol
Exactly there are some, how can I say that? INTERESTING choices for colors.
I'm the same way. We need new colors on everything.😂
Pretty much all pack released before 2019 do
Yes 😂
This home gives me the vibes of every suburban home in American family movies from the '90s and I kinda dig it.
This house feels so real and cozy. It kind of makes sense if you think about it because when you have a theme going and you go furniture or decor shopping, what are the odds that every item has the same wood color or same shade of green/blue/orange/red as the rest of your decor. Most houses are not perfectly decorated so this is a more realistic approach to decorating in the Sims. It's all fine.
This feels like a real home. Like, someone who could finally afford a house but couldn't afford to get their furniture all at once, so they have a hodge-podge of thrifted items, gifts, souvenirs, family heirlooms, and a couple big-ticket items. As much as I dislike the swatches, somehow I REALLY like this house!
I came in thinking this would be a disaster but it was actually gorgeous, especially the exterior build🤩.
I would love to see Simsie do a No Blue build challenge! She can build & furnish however she wants, there just can’t be any blue anywhere. I think it would make a fun video to watch :)
That roof trim piece was bothering me for so long lol
Glad you fixed it 😅
After this you should try one where you have to select the last colour option, but you have to pick the item before looking at the last colour option.
Honestly mad respect to Kayla for doing this challenge. I would go nuts 🤣
Omg, now that you've built this, keep the items but change everything to the LAST swatch and watch it turn into a complete mess.
I have a story in my brain for the family who lives here. It is a slightly older couple with a 10 year old daughter. They like to keep their house very clean and are the type of people who bought really nice matching furnishings for the whole house and then never touched it again. I'd love to see you do this again, but instead of the default swatch, you have to use the last swatch!
Definitely would love to see this challenge again, but with Base Game Only as an added restriction.
yeah! syd mac did that challenge on her channel and it was great!
Total chaos!
Can we just talk about how kayla always brings us quality content, and brings the sim’s community together?
I feel like she should try the inverted colour challange (again? Honestly cant remember) and try to make everything match
I vote that Simsie does another nightmare Plumbella challenge! It's always so fun to see her do stuff that's more out of the box :)
heres an example for a video idea, for living room you click on couches in the shop thing then use a number generator to pick one, then the living room has to be that style, for bathroom you would pick a toilet or shower, so on and so forth

The wood swatches in this game make me want to scream 🤦😆
Why are they so hard to match?!
It's giving...."have you seen our floor model?" Vibes
Kayla: Now we have to work on the exterior which I don’t think will be as difficult..
LITERALLY 10 SECONDS LATER..
Also Kayla: I DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO THE LANDSCAPING… This tree looks bad, all the trees look baad, the house looks bad
The outside of the house is actually really cute!
new lilsimsie challenge: build a blue suburban but you're only allowed to use the blue swatch category for the entire build!!
This is a great house for basic family gameplay, it has loads of stuff in it and it's quite simple so if you struggle building, like me... it's a good house to download and you can add and change stuff to suit your sims. Love it ❤
I don’t know why but in the beginning it gave me grandmas house vibes, which is a good thing. Other than that, really cute house! 🏡
"just because you could doesn't mean you should" keeping this sentence for life😂
Your kids rooms are always so loud and one color focused but the rest of the house is so realistic and gorgeous
Got here quicker than my sims getting married 🥰
Lmaooo real
The bright and colorful kid’s room is my fave in this build!
19:43 in middle school I matched my room to my backpack
I'd love to see a BASE GAME only build, you always use a lot of packs so it would be a good challenge.
I think everything not really fully matching feels like a realistic home lol love it
I love that Simsie's lights always match her outfit!
I didn’t notice that until you pointed it out
Kayla I know u hate it but I promise it actually looks way better when you mix the colors! Not everything has to be the EXACT wood or the exact shade of blue! You should try go out your confort zone cuz you’re really good at it and this house proves it😊😊
I honestly really love this build. It looks so realistic and homey!
"Nobody designs their backpack to match their room"
The person who designed their backpack to match their room: 👁👄👁
I love the interior design! It looks so cozy.
Guess I will download this to have a nice family there.❤
Love y’a builds ❤❤
noticed the small roof glitch a couple weeks ago, super annoying and made my builds look bad D:
am i the only one who absolutely hates the parenthood tile 😞
That first bed you chose, for the master bedroom, looks like it has eyebrows 😂
This looks like a tv show house 👀👀
Like a LOT of good luck Charlie vibes...❤❤❤
whenever my best friend started playing the sims for the first time she didn't even know that swatches existed 😭😭
@@moonlitmazes not good!
Loved this video so much!! The idea is incredible and the final build actually turned out really good!
Ngl I loved how this turned out, and I’m definitely gonna use it
Would love to see you keep this build and all the furniture items but have you change the swatches to what looks besr
This challenge is basically the way I normally play and build in The Sims. 😂
you should so a pack tier list so that new players can know which packs are worth it or not !!
it would be fun to see you reno it without being able to change items but just swatches
Actually turned out good. Yes base game only will be a challenge for sure.
I’d love to see this challenge as base game only! I feel like it’d remind me of how I played the Sims when I was younger 😂
That scary polka dot kids room wallpaper unfortunately was the one I ALWAYS used for kids rooms as a kid
Build as many working houses as you can in a timeframe. They don't have to be different, just build as many as you can.
How about a challenge where you roll a random number per room, and whatever number you get is the swatch number you have to use for everything in that room?
The floor plan is actually good, Im stealing it 😂
Even with the default swatches you managed to do a blue house once again 😂 (it’s cute tho)
this is impressive it looks so good i cant do something this good in like 5 hours
how did simsie manage to pull off my *favourite* colour scheme, when she couldn't even change swatches?? the white - creme - sand - teal - sky blue is absolutely stunning! kayla is so good at this ☺️
I really like the exterior layout and the interior layout
This turned out so cute!!

2:49 Kayla, being iconically all of us every day 😆😆😆😆
(Well, at least I can say that *I* say this every day 😅😅😂)

Thank god Kayla fixed the missing trim on that one roof dormer, I was dying 😂
What building in The Sims 1 felt like
simsie! i just built a house with only the kits! since we have more now it was a wild house...you should definitely try it

honestly i always use the default swatches bcs i pick what i see first lol
Wouldn't the default swatch for the roof be the one that is automatic.
I actually really like this house!! But I’m biased-I love red brick. I would love to see this challenge as BG.
What about random number picks my swatch? Like random number is 4 then you pick the 4th swatvh of everything in the living room, random number is 6 you pick swatch 6 in the bedroom items
You can downside cat trees and they are still functional
I love ur vidss I’m so exitedddd
i really love this house oh em gee it’s adorable
