    Wrestling by its self wont win in a submission match... wrestling mixed with BJJ or Judo.... thats a nightmare for whoever faces that person. In my opinion.

      Yeah, BJJ with wrestling. Unless it's in a GI.

    i never get tired of watching Marcelo do what he does best

  • @Sabre809
    @Sabre809 12 лет назад +3

    Actually Marcelo did a bit of wrestling, and submission wrestling too, because he felt he lacked takedown abilities, sometimes he uses the "Cradle" to set up his north south choke. Don't get mad at me for saying that, Even Marcelo says he does these things so he can make his Jiu Jitsu as best as it can be.

    FYI Otto was my training partner for a little while at Charlies combat club in downtown Everett and knew Matt Hume (Charlie trained under Matt) so Matt Hume Charlie and Otto got to go to ADCC through Matt. He had less than 1 year experience in BJJ before he wen to ADCC to compete against Marcelo Garcia. The only reason why he does not compete anymore is that he freaks out when he loses and cant handle loosing very well.

    they make of alot of sense. This is submission grappling and not wrestling. If the wrestler doesn't have submissions or chokes then he should learn them :)

    Darn impressive showing for a guy training submissions for 6 months after his college wrestling career.

    Its so apparent how much more comfortable Marcelo is in this match. He exerts the absolute min energy. He looks like he's rolling with a purple belt after class. (Obv no disrespect to Otto.)

    yea marcelo is good definately one of the best in the world, but i still think olson has a chance of beating him, especially learning from his past mistakes against him. i would say he is almost on the same level as marcelo, and has a chance. it also shows a lot that he made it to the finals of a world submission tournament. and the fake outs work great in wrestling, and thats obviously the style he uses and it must work pretty well if it got him this far

    Danedog is right. grappling is about WINNING, through submission or knockout.
    Points dont really matter that much.

    1:00 otto begs for neutral...1:30 his superior grappling instincts lead him off the mat/ safety2:30 unleashes a sweet ass headlock. 3:00 realizes he should have stayed in Michigan

  • @vitorshaolin
    @vitorshaolin 17 лет назад

    yeah he can, but the RNC( rear naked Choke) has been successful in 75% of his wins. so going on statistics hes obviously going to his game plan and submission that worked for most of his wins.

  • @RightWingCon81
    @RightWingCon81 15 лет назад

    It's a submission wrestling competition, if hefeels he doesn't have enough knowledge of submissions he should enter such a competition. It's like a boxer going to MMA and saying "it's not fair, I only punch but these guys kick, elbow and grapple." Then don't go there. otto has a background in subs though.

  • @xxSZARLxx
    @xxSZARLxx 17 лет назад

    well he tried to escape from being on the ground making pathetic moves, bit with panic too and Marcelo keeps eye s open to use every of such sad moves.
    Havent seen a grappler using his legs as good as Garcia sofar. Great skills n discipline, he s like water definately...

  • @lisabob22

    I think if Erick spent more time focused on this competition he could beat anybody. But since he does about 3 other full time jobs he doesn't need to concentrate on this.

    dude, those guys just got caught. As do wrestlers get caught, (and last time I checked, jiu-jitsu guys have won more of these no-gi grappling matches than the wrestlers.) Does that mean jiu-jitsu is superior to wrestling? No it doesn't. To say one style is better than the other is just ignorant. The same applies for MMA competition as well.

  • @ktothec24
    @ktothec24 17 лет назад

    looks like when they re-started the match in the center when they both had eachother's foot marcelo kinda "jumped the gun" and was able to get in side-control. probably wouldn't have mattered since he is a bjj bad-ass

  • @Shenalmighty

    ,Im not sure how Mafrcelo didnt beat his opponent in his mma debut in the first round,he had his back for the entire time for a majority of the time,then got cut in te second round the fight lost,anyone seen it ?

    Garcia would submit Cael in less than a few minutes. Garcia's BJJ technique is truly up there with the best in the world, if not THE best.

  • @matouseknl
    @matouseknl 15 лет назад

    wrestlers can't help it, they feel comfortable on their belly, because in wrestling it would prevent you from being pinned with your shoulders on the mat, however it is the worst position to give up in submission wrestling. if you have a wrestling background and learn some submission skills, you are bad ass by definition :-0

  • @TheTerrorUforgot
    @TheTerrorUforgot 14 лет назад

    @lucalottasubmission ADCC is the submission grappling zenith in the world. If wrestling won more of those than BJJ, I might listen to what you're saying.

    Olsen sucks, the only move he does is the gullotine like most wrestlers do, they try to do gullotine in every position, they do it when ur in side control they try when u mount them and if they could do it when u take there back they would too.

    well then grow up or wake up. it isn't a real fight, BJJ isn't real fighting. if you want to see people fight for real, watch real fights, not BJJ competition. BJJ can be useful in a fight but rarely does a fight look like a BJJ match regardless of butt scoot or not.

  • @matouseknl
    @matouseknl 16 лет назад

    blablabla ... great so otto is your idol, and if the wrestler would be allowed to do ground and pound, if he didn't have 3 full time jobs, ..... excuses, excuses excuses, fact is ADCC is open to all submission fighers including wrestlers, otto olsen, cael andersen, and they got their ass beat by a five time world champion and 3 time winner of the prestigious ADCC, besides it looked to me that he tapped out pretty quick

  • @Danedog614
    @Danedog614 16 лет назад

    Im sorry but you are on pretty strong drugs if you think that cael sanderson is going to beat marcelo garcia in a grappling competition. Yea he was the best college wrestler of all time, sure. But this is ADCC, where the best "grapplers" in the world compete to prove who the best is. Otto came, Otto saw, Otto tapped out. I don't see how getting a takedown on someone even matters. Once it's on the ground, the submissions will come from any position. All I hear is excuses for the wrestlers!
