Just seeing this now, I'm the 2nd guy. Jumped into this comp after 7 weeks of training, it's funny looking back now, genuinely had no clue what I was doing. Thanks again for the roll
@@6flags545 absolutely. As much as people will tell you it doesn't, it really does. I’m a white belt with first strip. I’m 36. But I have a good time in classes man. Should I try out for tournaments. I’m pretty confident in No Gi style.
@@vincewyntermusicnt I think you should try at least one tournament! The one I did I was able to sign up for gi and no-gi and it was a blast! I didn’t win all my matches but it was still a great experience and I learned a lot of things I need to work on. Just another day on the mats! Good luck 👍
As a former wrestler looking into BJJ the ending note you made really struck. The moment I stopped being fearful I received 2nd place in a wrestling tournament and beat someone who was 12-0.
Learning is the most important outcome of the tournament. White belts need to learn, and this is a great way to develop skills quickly. I am sure he will work on his ability to take the back when the oppurtunity presents itself in the future.
bro this kind of performance and you've only been training for 2 months ... that's insane!! Congrats on the medal. Looking forward to more content from you as a BJJ newbie myself.
I just started BJJ a few months back and it's quickly become my obsession. Thank you for this video bc I want to compete eventually and this video just confirmed my desire and goal. Thanks brother! Keep training!
Great job! I've been training BJJ now for 5 months now. I'm hopping to compete at 220lbs in 2 months. I eventually wanna get down to 195, because I'm currently at 6'1 230 lbs. Now I'm excited to compete after seeing this!
One of the best jiu-jitsu videos I've seen! It inspired me and will certainly inspire a lot of people. Post more videos like this please. A new subscriber from Brazil!
I have my first tournament this week. Im 42, man you are really fast and have great timing on your foot sweeps. Hope I dont run into a killer like you! Great video.
Bro full respect on this vid. Propper skills man. I won 2 gold in a comp yesterday but at superheavy so not as fast. Really impressed with your workrate. Good job 🙌🙌
I so needed this !!! I’m about to go into my first tournament after 6 months of training. This just inspired me to go for it! I’m a 38 year old female with 6 years of Taekwondo experience. But this is so much diff from what I’m used to. I just pray I don’t covert to tkd during a match 🤣
Hi brother, I genuinely enjoyed the content. I'm similar, new white belt. I also fight around 190 lb. I've had 3 competitions so far. Would have loved to hear more about you. You're obviously an athletic young man with a good penchant for foot sweeps. Your first competitor seemed very well matched, the man actually seemed to know a bit more jitsu than you but he had trouble capitalizing on his sweeps. Great matches overall. And great gas tank.
I know this video is old but you inspired the hell out of me. I have a similar mindset to yours and I’m currently training in jiu jitsu, 3 weeks in.. ✌🏽❤
Man this is excellent for your first competition. Great work! I would just say, don't rush the transition from side control to full mount. There's a lot you can do from side control, and you should only transition to the mount once you have a clear opportunity to do so.

I love your coach's reaction to the other side saying "Fuck him up". He's a real one
12:45 too dang funny
He said "buck him off" (like a horse) because his guy was turtled under JT
