Just seeing this now, I'm the 2nd guy. Jumped into this comp after 7 weeks of training, it's funny looking back now, genuinely had no clue what I was doing. Thanks again for the roll
Does your lifting strength carry over well to grappling?
@@6flags545 absolutely. As much as people will tell you it doesn't, it really does. It will become less relevant as I progress through the belts but at a white belt level strength is such a big advantage in my opinion. The key is to not rely on it and focus on technique but if you can combine the 2 then youre giving yourself a big advantage.
We'll have to hit round 2 sometime soon
@@6flags545 it doesn't. Core strength , and spinal health, for fighting, can't be built any other way than doing all kinds of wild dynamic movements . Lifting Gyms don't do that.
@@sasquatchrosefartsit 100% does.
Honestly as someone who has never participated in BJJ just by watching your video alone has inspired me to take on the sport.
Awesome. Try to stick with it!
@@jt.anthony 1 of the best videos I have ever seen. I can see the natural talent. You will progress very fast. I will start my journey next year.
Doooo it omg it's so fun
@@Roxas935 Judo and Jiu Jitsu.
I really hope you did start jiujitsu brother
Coming back to this video 6 months later and this is still the best BJJ white belt vid on RUclips! Keep up the good content G!
Awesome ! Respect to you brother, been going at it for almost a year and lost my two first tournaments. But there ain’t no stopping me God willing !
As a former wrestler looking into BJJ the ending note you made really struck. The moment I stopped being fearful I received 2nd place in a wrestling tournament and beat someone who was 12-0.
Insane!! That last match was intense, had me on the edge of my seat. Congrats on the W mate 🥇
Appreciate it Lars!
Ha! Mee too. Just finshed saying that then looked down at the other comments!
I love your coach's reaction to the other side saying "Fuck him up". He's a real one
12:45 too dang funny
He said "buck him off" (like a horse) because his guy was turtled under JT
11:48 was insane. To much Inspiration in this video. God bless you. Oss
Great performance! I’m new to jujitsu and look forward to my first tournament. Very motivating young man.
Thanks Marcos - I say just go for it!
I’m a white belt with first strip. I’m 36. But I have a good time in classes man. Should I try out for tournaments. I’m pretty confident in No Gi style.
@@vincewyntermusicnt I think you should try at least one tournament! The one I did I was able to sign up for gi and no-gi and it was a blast! I didn’t win all my matches but it was still a great experience and I learned a lot of things I need to work on. Just another day on the mats! Good luck 👍
this man got all in one RUclips channel. fighting, self help and work stuff
That's the goal!
bro this kind of performance and you've only been training for 2 months ... that's insane!! Congrats on the medal. Looking forward to more content from you as a BJJ newbie myself.
you've got great takedowns!
Appreciate it Mathusan!
I'm a white belt right now. Love watching someone at this level compete, thank you & congrats!
Learning is the most important outcome of the tournament. White belts need to learn, and this is a great way to develop skills quickly. I am sure he will work on his ability to take the back when the oppurtunity presents itself in the future.
Great to see, and LOVE the humbleness (humility)...
Seems im fighting myself, mentally and physically...
im New white belt
Thank you. Make sure you keep at it!
Bruh got himself gold with incredible guard passing and takedowns. Dayum dude
Man, gotta say... really enjoyed that. Was on the edge of my seat for the final match. Well done JT!
Beautiful work brother! Well on your way! The guy @8:40 was stalling and the ref failed you right there.
I just started BJJ a few months back and it's quickly become my obsession. Thank you for this video bc I want to compete eventually and this video just confirmed my desire and goal. Thanks brother! Keep training!
damn, what a performance dude, I'm thinking to compete (my first competition) and you inspire me to train harder. Congratulations mate🤝🥋
Appreciate that!!
Excellent content mate. I have my first comp coming up in 6 weeks, and this is massively inspiring and helpful to me. Thanks for uploading
N. , Vvvcc
if i was one of the one supervising your matches, i would of got mad suspicion, you are very good for 2 months in BJJ
He’s very athletic two solid takedowns for a white belt a double and a coller drag. Won on points I believe him he just had that dog in him.
i love watching whitebelt competitions, you see so much that can be done. Oss good work JT
great point retention, not letting him settle into mount and going to your knees is great
Congrats on your fight! I could see that you have the soul of a true warrior! OSS!!!
I appreciate that!
I’m 2 weeks in, and this made me even more excited!!!
One of the best jiu-jitsu videos I've seen! It inspired me and will certainly inspire a lot of people. Post more videos like this please. A new subscriber from Brazil!
Appreciate the kind words Gustavo!
That first and last match is insane. Yall are some good fucking white belts holy shit
Appreciate the content. Don’t see it from the beginner point of view ever. You did great
Yoo blue gi’s little hop has me dying 13:27 😂😂😂😂
Great fighting spirit for a first comp, clearly absorbed good movement fundamentals staying a step ahead in scrambling positions.
Solid solid performance especially for 2 months training in gi.
Good matches, good stamina, good position control. I hope to see you in higher divisions in the future.
Appreciate it Konrad!
Dude this was awesome to watch. I have my first tournament coming up in 3 weeks and am stoked. Best of luck to you on your journey. Fear is a choice, acknowledge it, but don’t choose it 🔥
Best of luck!
Great job! I've been training BJJ now for 5 months now. I'm hopping to compete at 220lbs in 2 months. I eventually wanna get down to 195, because I'm currently at 6'1 230 lbs. Now I'm excited to compete after seeing this!

I so needed this !!! I’m about to go into my first tournament after 6 months of training. This just inspired me to go for it! I’m a 38 year old female with 6 years of Taekwondo experience. But this is so much diff from what I’m used to. I just pray I don’t covert to tkd during a match 🤣
Haha best of luck!
Let us know how it went if you did attend.
She lost.
I am 45 and just started a week ago. Wish I had started earlier. So much fun! Your explosiveness is impressive!

Thank you for the video it was very informative, ive just recently started bjj (5 lessons in lol) and was curious white belt competitions ect. Congratulations on the win 👊 thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Mad respect from Minnesota. Keep it up!
Appreciate it!
Hi brother,
I genuinely enjoyed the content. I'm similar, new white belt. I also fight around 190 lb. I've had 3 competitions so far.
Would have loved to hear more about you. You're obviously an athletic young man with a good penchant for foot sweeps. Your first competitor seemed very well matched, the man actually seemed to know a bit more jitsu than you but he had trouble capitalizing on his sweeps.
Great matches overall. And great gas tank.
Thank you!
that was bad ass. Please make more videos about your BJJ journey! cheers
Great performance. Your takedowns were beautiful!
Thank you!
I have my first tournament in about 3 weeks. Thank you for sharing this! Got me hyped for it!
Best of luck!
Respect bro. I’m gonna start Ju jitsu this week. This is real motivation!!
Go for it!
Wow really well done, great performance after just 2 months of practise in the gi, 4 matches in the first competition is heavy.
Thank you!
the way your belt is tied drives me crazy :D good video tho and good luck
For 2 months you did amazing! Very good competition.
Bro when that dude you fought twice would just run at you i got so pissed lmao, lovedthe power takedown you hit him with and then later shoved him to the floor. Awesome job dude
I know this video is old but you inspired the hell out of me. I have a similar mindset to yours and I’m currently training in jiu jitsu, 3 weeks in.. ✌🏽❤
