Rickson Gracie is not anywhere close to being the best bjj player ever. any of the modern guys today on a bad day could beat Rickson in his prime on his best day. he might be a vale tudo legend, but that was back in the day before no one but the Gracies was actually training. I don't buy all this "Rickson's bjj walks on water" crap for a second, especially in sport jj.
madbowler6 Fuck sport JJ, guys playing for points rather than for the win goes against the very idea of JJ... Rickson in his prime in a time limitless submittion only BJJ match would tool everyone of these fake cunts you see today, he was on another level, every guy that has ever rolled with him says the same.
madbowler6 Well if you did some research you would find out that a lot of high level guys have said that Rickson is the best. So i guess you know more than the best of the best who have rolled with him huh?
wow that was probably the most impressive display of kool-aid drinking I think I've ever seen. Keenan Cornelius would tie Rickson (in his prime) in a knot in about 35 seconds flat, time limit or no, points or no. you want to imagine what Rodolfo would do to him? lol I'm well aware of all the fanboys and fighters who say Rickson was the best ever. they're just being respectful. in a few years, people will probably be saying the same thing about Marcelo Garcia. sure, Marcelo is a badass, but he was beaten several times. the further a great fighter is from his competitive days, the greater his legend becomes. this is nothing new. oh, Marcelo is another one who would smash Rickson at his best.
Holy. Shit. That match was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Kron is usually very upset when he loses, specially by points, but even he appeared "less-annoyed" in that match. I think even Rickson respects Marcelo's absolute high level jiu jitsu. I mean, the guy is a fucking legend. Given Kron's age and relative lack of experience (if compared to Marcelo), the boy was awesome. Like, AWESOME. If there were no points, if the match was submission only... I hope one day we see that. Metamoris would be perfect for Kron vs Marcelo.
+Jpeterson7 I don't understand how kron lost this. He went for all the subs. By 2013 adcc kron would've beaten marcelo garcia for sure. It was obvious who was improving. I think marcelo retired because he knew kron was coming up big.
Like Rickson and Royler's shirts - "Ice Cream Kron" lol. Also, notice the respect Marcelo gives to Rickson, bowing to him when he shakes his hand. MG is pure class...
Kron has honestly had an absurd amount of pressure put upon his shoulders since a young age, and personally I think he's done a damn good job of staying humble and trying to meet most of those expectations. He's still young though, and he will continue to grow without a doubt. This was a great match, and there is absolutely no shame in losing to Marcelo. Marcelo is a BJJ wizard as well.
That was excellent match. Both guys fought hard. Both guys tried to win, both guys had good moments- Garcia- Sharp takedowns and great guard pass attempts. Kron - great guillotine advantage and good arm /shoulder lock attempts. Super entertaining Bravo !!!!
Kron pulled full guard and held Marcelo tight to nullify any offense. It may look as if Marcelo had no answer, but he got the takedowns and was working to pass the whole time. Kron simply was holding him down until the guillotine attempts.
@WM of course Rickson supports him.. he's his dad lol. That was a great match to watch. Kron went for a lot of subs. marcelo didn't though unfortunately that i really recall.
Marcelo loves Jiu jitsu more than anyone else , his quote , that level of Jiu jitsu is so difficult to win against, would love to see those guys roll with gis on , options o options ✌️😁✌️
Kron did not control the shoulder, so Marcello got on his feet and pushed his head, relieving the pressure on his throat. Then he used the space created to sneak his hands in and grab Kron's hands. When he got back down, he was holding tight on the hands and working progressively his head out of the choke.
for kron gracies time its gonna be very hard to be at the top like his father there is just so much competition rite now..jeff glover, joel tudor, mendes brothers, marcelo garcia, ryan hall, leo veira, and so much more...but i do believe he will soon be at the top, he is very young but so are alot of other great Bjj practioners
Its kinda fucked how the points system disregards that Kron was way more offensive from the guard and more submission attempts. Marcelo got the takedowns and stayed on top but Id personally give it to Kron for his agression.
because he knew that was his only chance to beat Marcelo. He was thinking that even if by some small miracle he did manage the sweep.. deep down inside; he knew Marcelo would just get out and sweep/something else him. This thought process is evidenced by the match itself.
I don't know why people, in general, worry about Kron's feellings after him loosing his matches, He is always upset, and this is a problem only himself can deal with. Marcelo even tryed to touch Kron's hands in the end of the match, but it seem like Kron didn't give a shit about it.
Another level? in what way? IT's not like Rickson's been living under a rock for 18 years. Plus, large, rudimentary movements of the basics aren't suddenly nullified in this "new era," if somebody is legendary in application, as Rickson is, they can still kick ass. Remember that Rickson was 7 years older and practically retired than a prime Royler when he tapped him at least twice in no-Gi, and tapped him everytime in every stage demo they held.
@ipv4 Marcelo is a genius, and it seems that you know a bit about grappling so you should know if anyone else was put in that same situation they would have tapped for sure. That's where the genius of Marcelo comes in, he knew exactly what to do which is why he didn't tap, it may have been close but in the end it didn't go through. Plus there's no almosts in Jiu Jitsu, " I almost passed his guard" or "I almost submitted him" it's either you did or you didn't.
@aphony11 So when Roger Gracie broke Jacare's arm with an armbar because Jacare simply refused to tap, it wouldn't be accurate if Roger said, "i almost had him, i broke his arm but he didn't tap?"
Kron is going to be like his dad one day.... he will for sure... its just not his time right now... Marcelo is a genius on the mat and just too much for Kron at the moment... but Krons time will come... imo. Krons biggest wepon is time... he is still young.
Kron is a relatively new black belt whereas Marcello is in the peak of his game. Give Kron 3-4 more years and he'll bulldoze over just about anyone! Kron also looks like the fitter, stronger athlete and in MMA I'm sure he'd take Marcello!
@truemanc Yes, Marcelo was a genius but he did not do much against Kron while kron almost submitted him per a marcel garcia interview where he admitted to tapping or going out at any second.
Kron is great, but no Rickson. Rickson's BJJ is fluid like water and hard like cement. Kron is blessed to have Rickson as his father, but that doesn't mean he'll inherit his talents. Kron's advantage is that time is on his side.
@massnerder1 he wasnt stating an opinion he was stating his opinion as a fact. so he got own. i would love to see marcelo vs rener or his older brother w/e his name
Rickson was the greatest empty hand MMA fighter of the 80s Anyone who doubts that -give me a name and show me the tape. . Rickson was fighting guys that on any occasion could be biting eye gouging groin grabbing fish hooking and more. His dad had him fight adults as a teenager. Do I think he could win the BJJ worlds now ? No . Do I care . No. He was and always will be the man. His sons stepped up as well .Kron went even distance with Marcelo who is the best sport player on the planet.
@aphony11 Yea, there is no "almost" in bjj but you miss point by even saying that. The point was that only kron held his own against the air jordan of bjj.
No need to be so harsh. A lot is expected of Kron. He might not love BJJ as much as Marcelo, in fact I KNOW he doesn't. Passion counts for a lot. He was most likely forced into it because he is a Gracie and his father was the best BJJ fighter until Marcelo showed up. Lots of pressure. Kron is doing very well at this point.
@kanguesso Yeah pretty much, if you would rather break your arm than tap then mentally you are far from tapping out. So in a sense Roger wasn't even close to winning.
Most of this fight Marcelo was trying to get out of his guard. Kron was always working submissions. Oh, I'm sorry, he passed his guard for 10 seconds. We have a winner. It's clear who was the predator in this match.
This video is great and all but where is part 1? Or am I retarded, because the only other part 1 of kron vs Marcelo im finding is actually mislabeled because its roussimar palhares, not kron.
rickson never entered the ufc or pride or strikeforce or anything. so all we say about rickson is heresay. (he fought in pride but he fought that japanese gas station attendent guy)
all those new guards, X, SPIDER FIFTYFIFTY ECT..wount save your ass in the cage or street..jiu jitsu is for self defense its a fighting art...not a game for points...the closed guard is the best guard..the basics are everything
Gee what happened to you don't need strength for the techniques in Gracie Jiu Jitsu? If you look at Kron's face at about1:18, you can see he is straining trying to muster every ounce of strength to try and sink in the choke!
Rickson should've fought in Pancrase instead of Vale Tudo in the '90s if he wanted to be regarded as a great. Fought a bunch of cans with losing records in 1994 & 1995 when he could've been fighting the likes of Bas Rutten, the Shamrocks, Mezger or Funaki (Prime) in Pancrase
+westy3663 He went where he got paid. Frank Shamrock was supposed to the best and Renzo wrecked him. Royce did the same to Ken, who was KOP who finished them all. Rickson wrecked Royce, Renzo, Royler, all of them. Class dismissed.
+westy3663 He went where he got paid. Frank Shamrock was supposed to the best and Renzo wrecked him. Royce did the same to Ken, who was KOP who finished them all. Rickson wrecked Royce, Renzo, Royler, all of them. Class dismissed.
i find it hard to believe that someone would watch an adcc vid and ask such a question. You obviously have an interest in bjj and know that rickson is krons dad, so you have knowledge of the jiu jitsu world. and then you ask "Is that Rickson with the cap at the end? I wonder why would you ask that when you already know that it is him. i dont know why people do that shit, i know thats him. do you want people to talk about rickson is that why you brought him up. tell us why you would ask that?
you make it seem like he's 16 or something. He's not THAT young. There are alot of other "young" rising stars out there which are rising faster than him actually. (ex. Marcelo is only 5 years older than him). Doubt he will ever reach the level of dominance his father enjoyed -not due to lack of skill, its just a different age now).
Its like Marcelo gives Kron his neck on purpose just to proof he can't choke him.
The son of the best bjj player ever vs 1 of the top 5 bjj players ever, you couldn't make this shit up, amazing... high level stuff, brilliant.
Rickson Gracie is not anywhere close to being the best bjj player ever. any of the modern guys today on a bad day could beat Rickson in his prime on his best day. he might be a vale tudo legend, but that was back in the day before no one but the Gracies was actually training. Hahaha
Thanks I needed that... good one
Holy. Shit. That match was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Kron is usually very upset when he loses, specially by points, but even he appeared "less-annoyed" in that match. marcelo already tapped kron
renato l when?
You can't not like Marcelo... He has a non stop attacking style. Best in the world IMO.
+Krazy Lobster Kron would submit him now. Marcelo spent the last portion of this fight defending, not attacking.
+Jpeterson7 I don't understand how kron lost this. He went for all the subs. By 2013 adcc kron would've beaten marcelo garcia for sure. It was obvious who was improving. I think marcelo retired because he knew kron was coming up big.
Gunnar Nelson and Coach Kavanagh in the background!
marcelo is the best grappler in the world. he's fucking amazing
Like Rickson and Royler's shirts - "Ice Cream Kron" lol. Also, notice the respect Marcelo gives to Rickson, bowing to him when he shakes his hand. MG is pure class...
anyone else notice gunnar nelson sitting down in the background ?
Father and Son relationship is beautiful to watch.
Kron pulled full guard and held Marcelo tight to nullify any offense. It may look as if Marcelo had no answer, but he got the takedowns and was working to pass the whole time. Kron simply was holding him down until the guillotine attempts.
Wow. Rickson and Marcelo in one building
awesome match if marcelo cant finish you you are awesome period
u said it best. marcelo is the epitome of class.
they are both young so you really can't use that argument. Marcelo has alot more passion and it shows on and off the mat.
Muito bom, teria como colocar a parte 1
Kron did not control the shoulder, so Marcello got on his feet and pushed his head, relieving the pressure on his throat. Then he used the space created to sneak his hands in and grab Kron's hands. Man, that just shows you it is important to have really good wrestling...
Marcelo Garcia is 1 of 3 people on this planet who could have gotten out of that Guillotine!
It was actually because the mat was very slippery, as Marcelo explained in his post interview. He noticed that, and exploited to take the Kron down.
Its kinda fucked how the points system disregards that Kron was way more offensive from the guard and more submission attempts. Marcelo got the takedowns and stayed on top but Id personally give it to Kron for his agression.
Nah
because he knew that was his only chance to beat Marcelo. He was thinking that even if by some small miracle he did manage the sweep.. deep down inside; he knew Marcelo would just get out and sweep/something else him. This thought process is evidenced by the match itself.
Marcelo has beaten Kron every time they've fought. Most of the time by submission.
wow i bet marcelo was lightheaded at the end. you see him kinda stumble before he extends his hand for a handshake.
I don't know why people, in general, worry about Kron's feellings after him loosing his matches, He is always upset, and this is a problem only himself can deal with. Marcelo even tryed to touch Kron's hands in the end of the match, but it seem like Kron didn't give a shit about it.
Marcelo was conserving energy for his next matches. :D
And the winner on math number 2 ... Andre Galvao ! (Aplauses)
otima luta, queria ver uma revanche :)
Is that Rickson with the cap at the end?
think about it.....he thought he can tap him but the time was nearly over and thats the reason he should take "the white belt move". Its more save.
ADCC is just so cool!
Rickson looked like he was ready to fight haha
@ipv4 Marcelo is a genius, and it seems that you know a bit about grappling so you should know if anyone else was put in that same situation they would have tapped for sure. @aphony11 So when Roger Gracie broke Jacare's arm with an armbar because Jacare simply refused to tap, it wouldn't be accurate if Roger said, "i almost had him, i broke his arm but he didn't tap?"
Gunnar Nelson siting.
Obrigado, thanks, Arigatoo...
They should rematch this for the next Metamoris..
Kron is going to be like his dad one day.... he will for sure... its just not his time right now... Marcelo is a genius on the mat and just too much for Kron at the moment... but Krons time will come... imo. Krons biggest wepon is time... he is still young.
Gets owned by Marcelo Garcia unless he grabs clothes.
Kron is a relatively new black belt whereas Marcello is in the peak of his game. Give Kron 3-4 more years and he'll bulldoze over just about anyone! Kron also looks like the fitter, stronger athlete and in MMA I'm sure he'd take Marcello!
Tough shoes to fill for sure.
Kron should take the sweep to the mount at 0:46 instead of holding the guillotine.
Marcelo Garcia started the car!
@truemanc
Yes, Marcelo was a genius but he did not do much against Kron while kron almost submitted him per a marcel garcia interview where he admitted to tapping or going out at any second.
Kron would win even more if he cared more about points. He wants the submission every time.
@leothephantom7 This is very true MARCELO never plays for points but he was against Kron !!!
Kron is great, but no Rickson. Rickson's BJJ is fluid like water and hard like cement. Kron is blessed to have Rickson as his father, but that doesn't mean he'll inherit his talents. Kron's advantage is that time is on his side.
Scoring at adcc seems like it could improve.
@massnerder1 he wasnt stating an opinion he was stating his opinion as a fact. so he got own. i would love to see marcelo vs rener or his older brother w/e his name

that's true.
Hmm, I wonder why this white belt level move didn't occur to him? /sarcasm
Huh? Rickson was on pride. Rickson mma record is 11-0, he retired after his son die.
11a0 kkkkkkkkk lutando com um monte de leigo corria do marcos ruas e sacuraba osssss
I would pay to see this fight. Although as of right now, Marcelo would win. I would like to see them both in their prime rolling no gi.
Is there a BJJ'er anywhere on earth that wouldn't want to see Marcelo and Rickson roll?
Marcelo he is good.
CAN'T WAIT TILL MARCELO MEETS JOHN DANAHER PROTEGE BRIAN GLICK. HE IS DONE.
I actually think Kron is quite different from his dad. unfortunately kron has an arrogance problem. its not his fault for sure. but ...
@kanguesso Yeah pretty much, if you would rather break your arm than tap then mentally you are far from tapping out. So in a sense Roger wasn't even close to winning.
@tomson11 yes
@nodirbekable marcelo was in his guard so he was trying to pass not throw out subs
Points shouldn't matter
Most of this fight Marcelo was trying to get out of his guard. Kron was always working submissions. Oh, I'm sorry, he passed his guard for 10 seconds. We have a winner. It's clear who was the predator in this match.
Now Kron has to work on his takedowns, he had the most submission attempts. Master several takedowns and he would have won
kron can beat marcelo today. kron has gotten alot better. he already one this years adcc and will soon be good enough to win the absolutes.
Wait. When and how did Marcelo Garcia win?
This video is great and all but where is part 1? Or am I retarded, because the only other part 1 of kron vs Marcelo im finding is actually mislabeled because its roussimar palhares, not kron.
It's not mislabeled you just don't have patience. It's 8 mins into that video that starts off wit Palhares.
Strength is but one tool in the box. But more to your point, you can see that the strength didn't win him this match.
You are privilegiated one you heard a lot . The truth is MG is a beast and Rickson is a "legend"
Gunnar Nelson and his dad in the background
and john kavanagh!!!
rickson never entered the ufc or pride or strikeforce or anything. so all we say about rickson is heresay. (he fought in pride but he fought that japanese gas station attendent guy)
@kanguesso it's not bullshit if u give it some thought , calling "keep it playful" bullshit is like calling master Helio's philosophy bullshit..
Pablo Popovitch .
Marcelo Garcia.
all those new guards, X, SPIDER FIFTYFIFTY ECT..wount save your ass in the cage or street..jiu jitsu is for self defense its a fighting art...not a game for points...the closed guard is the best guard..the basics are everything
marcelo is one the best fukinng gracies!
Marcelo's last name is Garcia not Gracie
he's not a gracie lol
Garcia**
not Gracie
That looked like a tap at :47 seconds.
That's the infamous 'Brazilian Tap'
Stupid takedown is super important, underlooked by bjj players that suck in MMA.
How is a Gracie loosing in BJJ?
Gee what happened to you don't need strength for the techniques in Gracie Jiu Jitsu? If you look at Kron's face at about1:18, you can see he is straining trying to muster every ounce of strength to try and sink in the choke!

@tomson11. read below post.
The scoring is crap. Kron schooled him.
Jpeterson7 in what?
never! MC is a jiu jitsu's god!
Garcia wins on points.
you make it seem like he's 16 or something. He's not THAT young. There are alot of other "young" rising stars out there which are rising faster than him actually. (ex. Marcelo is only 5 years older than him). Doubt he will ever reach the level of dominance his father enjoyed -not due to lack of skill, its just a different age now).
No, I'd rather see Garcia in a No Gi match at the next Metamoris go after Ryron Gracie and his "keep it playful" bullshit and tap his ass out.
@truemanc The troll is strong in this one.
he went for 2 submission attemtps compared to gracias 0 and was offensive the whole match just one stupid take down = a win so silly
@aphony11 Interesting.
are you joking?
