Love my Mk4 New Beetle turbo! Even with all that work I've put into it, there are still a few more things I want to do.
I was so glad to hear that you got the thermostat changed as over heating is so common in these cars. I found that out that hard and expense way and had to get my engine refurbished. Although on the bright side, my clutch was replaced at the same time, so that saved some costs. Still a pricey repair though!
I have one manual never spend a dime .. it running great .. 11k repair it crazy
OMG! I'm scared because of everything you had to pay for to get the Beetle up and running. I just got a 2004 Beetle, and it's running smoothly, but the engine check light is illuminated. I intend to follow the same steps as you did in your initial video.
Bought a 2000 Beetle GLX last year that needs some work, so I will definitely be checking out your series! Such fun little cars with peppy engines. Look forward to more content
They are great little cars for sure!! Thanks for watching
What’s great about them ?
Cool to find people restoring New Beetles! Trying to keep my 04 Beetle in shape but it is hard, for like you said they expensive!
Thanks for your comment! It's always great to connect with fellow New Beetle enthusiasts. I completely understand the challenges of maintaining and restoring these unique cars, especially given the costs. But the passion and love for the Beetle make it all worth it. I've invested a lot into my Beetle and truly cherish it. If you're looking for more content and insights on the MK4 Beetle, I have a plethora of articles and resources on my website that you might find helpful: (www.buildpriceoption.com/category/mk4-beetle/). 1:06 Although VW didn't offer a 1.8 Liter Turbo 'Gasoline' engine option in the New Beetle from 2006 - 2010 in the United States...they did in England and possibly Mexico.
I found out yesterday just how expensive these Beetles can be to repair.
Had the Timing belt replaced.
Sir you have a very nice Beetle there.
We use ours to tow behind an RV while traveling, We have built many memories with ours.
Great Video.... I needed to see how to do things,,,, videos are helpful.
Thanks👍👍
Thanks for sharing your experience and yes these little baby Porsches cost to repair is not cheap. Glad you're keeping yours on the road. I have thought that if I ever do the RV thing we are getting a little enclosed trailer for the beetle. And thank you for the compliment. I certainly love my beetle turbo, but now I want a 911 turbo s lol

I recently purchased a 2006 beetle convertible. A window nightmare ! Paid $3800, and put more than that into it. But, I get a kick out of driving it. My other car is a 2019 GTI, my pride and joy. Thanks, RickGTI…..🌴
We just picked up a 2004 Beetle convertible. Body is in decent shape and the price was very good. The catch is the person that had it before us was going to have the 6 speed transmission repaired but after they found out the cost they chose just to trade it. Long story short it has no transmission so we have to find one. It has quite a few other things that need done but the wife and I have decided to refurbish it as a retirement project. Loved your video because seeing the comments there are quite a few folks that see the fun and cost of maintaining and servicing the new beetle. We are looking forward to the challenge for sure.
Great car. Is it the 2.5l?
wow you must love your bug. Its very impressive. I have a 2006 TDI bug , you have to be a mechanic or wealthy to own one of these mtc demons. I am a aircraft mechanic and love the challenge that this German/Mexican machine throws at me.
Thank you for the compliment! You're absolutely right, owning a New Beetle Turbo does come with its challenges, but it's a labor of love for sure. It's great to hear that you're an aircraft mechanic and enjoy the unique challenges that your 2006 TDI Bug brings. There's something about working on these German/Mexican machines that's incredibly rewarding. Thanks for sharing your experience, and keep enjoying the ride! 🚗🔧✈️
I have a 2002 beetle turbo S. What makes it a MK4.1
Hi, just got myself a 2004 VW Beetle and I'm looking to gradually fix it up. I'm on the hunt for a mechanic in Miami with reasonable prices. Appreciate any recommendations you can throw my way. Thanks a bunch in advance!
Thank you for your videos. Do you still have your Beetle?
Nice bug! I have two of them but luckily I can do all my own work. They are no more expensive to fix than any other 20 year old car. Have you done your heater core yet? That's fun.
Incorrect. A 20 year old Toyota or Honda will cost less.
I have an 03 1.8L w/ 77k miles and was wondering if you recommend I change the trans fluid. I called the vw dealer and they said it doesn’t need to be done and I called a independent VW shop and they said I should diagnose it first to see if it needs new fluid. Whatchu think
Thanks for reaching out with your question! It's interesting to hear the different perspectives from the VW dealer and the independent shop. Generally speaking, for a vehicle like your '03 Beetle with 77k miles, it's a good idea to at least check the transmission fluid condition. If the fluid is dark or has a burnt smell, it's usually a sign that a change would be beneficial. While VW might suggest that it's not necessary, it's often considered a proactive maintenance step that can help prolong the life of your transmission, especially if you plan to keep the car for a long time. A diagnosis from a trusted independent VW specialist could give you a clearer picture of the fluid condition and whether a change is warranted. Hope this helps, and keep enjoying your Beetle!
hello friend my beetle 2001 2.0 The engine light is on There are times I need to give it 4 starts for it to work, I noticed that it only works when the gas pump makes noise, I don't know what's going on
Fuel Pump #1 suspect
The coolant temperature sensor can cause problems starting? Sounds like a fuel pump. What did the problem end up being?
I wish you break apart the Parts $$$ & the Labor $$$
Hi my beetle 2006 keep fogy i change the air filter but keep same
you have idea what’s the problem
The problem is its hard to love an old Volkswagen and they will always need something lol
You paid top dollar for your maintenance and repairs. Typically it costs a LOT less for most of that. You can save even more if you do it yourself. I've had most of those repairs done to my old mk4 Golf TDI, and it didn't cost nearly as much as what you paid. For those watching this video, these costs are not typical. Shop around.
$11,000 Holy mother of our Lord.
bruh youre paying through the nose. 80% of that stuff you could have done yourself for a tiny fraction of the cost. Is that australian dollars?
I just have to ask myself why subject yourself to all of those repairs?
Collectors keeping cars
clutch job was over priced imo
My 2018 beetle SE Turbo is so much better than this
No offense but I think you spent too much.
I couldn't find the headlight ANYWHERE, jesus
