Three years ago I was doing this exact thing , Jamming Mr.Carlos Santana "WoW such a good musician who can touch this man NOBODY our world today guys?!.?! What are we all doing ?!!? America this is not who we are but to stop "Hatred" we have to fight hard Que No Mi Raza...
2:34 Carlos is trying to get sustained note. He eventually gets it. You have to get the amp gain and the volume to get the sustain. Also get your guitar near the amp to feedback to sustain the note. He gets it right at 3:49
SANTANA! One of the most amazing bands n musician during our life time. Seen them perform many times in San Francisco n The Bay Area amazing performers! Our pride n joy Percussionist, Nicaraguan José “Chepito” Áreas, as well as the rest of the band, will for ever be one of the best entertainers. Su música Me fascina! POR SIEMPRE SANTANA!! ❤️ Q VIVA SANTANA!! 😍🌹🌹💋💋❤️💜💖💚💜💙
Pierrette Brulotte
I was at that same show. You're right; I've seen him 5 times so far and every show he invites the opening act to jam for a song or two. Most of them can't hang, though. The worst was when Santana opened for Bob Dylan. Santana scorched the place; Dylan came on and didn't even mention Carlos and then proceeded to absolutely destroy the vibe with the most wretched noise possible. We left early. Que viva Santana!!
The same year I was born, wow! This man is incredible , I seen him LIFE at the Shoreline in Mountain View, California . He and his band did great , they rocked that stage! Had the time of my life with my uncle Paul, the biggest fan of Carlos Santana so I grew up to Santana THE BEST ,VERY GREAT MAN. VIVA SANTANA VIVA SANTANA :-)
He's still today an eternal guitar god, even old and bald. (Like David Gilmour, Robin Trower, Billy Gibbons,Les Paul, Paul Mac, Keef Richards, Angus Young, Andy Powell, Adrian Belew, Tony the Stickman, Eddie VH, Satchmo, etc., etc.) Rock on you geezers. We all still love you!
I LOVE rockin' geezers! So many are snatched away before they grow gray . It may be a real drag what time does to us all on the inside, but THANK GOD that time doesn't age us a moment on the inside. I feel as thrilled now as I did 40 years ago when I witnessed these magicians in the many live concerts that I attended in my college days...not to mention the ones who entertained me when I managed to squirm my way backstage.(ha)
I love the music he produces together with the rest of the musicians, in my opinion he's not as good as some of the names you mention, I find his sound repetitions, heck you can pick him out as soon as you start hearing something he's played in. He also overplays over the vocalists, does not seem to want to give up the limelight while a soloists is singing. Yet, I think his music is amazing.
The concert at The Bowl in Santa Barbara,Ca in '02 he did Europa for what seemed to be 15 minutes. Everyone got taken into another place, the peacefulness was unforgettable.
Dave D. there is a live performance with Carlos and a sax player it is the best ever. I AM 67 so u know I've hears a lot of Santana go to I type and ask for the song with Carlos and a sax it should give u a choice.
I don’t live in the past, but this was when Carlos played with real soul and feeling, the tone here is not quite as good as when he played his Yamaha guitar, but the feeling and sincerity is still there before he started playing less than heartfelt in the late 90s. Carlos lost his imagination and soul after the ‘Milagro’ album.
Because a lot of 80's synths used a synthesis technique called FM synthesis (frequency modulation) that was newly discovered/invented in the 80's which caused it to be vastly overused. Hence most 80's synths sound kind of the same

A legend wearing a t shirt with another legend on it. That's is utterly the highest respect.
Santana was the reason that I fell in love with the lead guitar. The way he plays is Magic!!!
A beautiful thing about a Santana show -- look around you at all the multi-generational family groups of fans.
I rarely see that at a rock show.
I AM FANS OF MR. CARLOS SANTANA AND I LIKE ALL OF WORK, BUT FOR MY THIS MELODY IS ONE OF HIS MAXIMUM WORKS, I AM FROM CELAYA, GUANJUATO, MEXICO...
Saw Santana a couple of times in the 70's in Philadelphia, PA ❤️
Each note is distinct and soulful. What a player! Truly a legend!
No One can make a guitar cry quite the way Carlos can....So Beautiful
But he would be nothing without his musicians, they do not get a lot of credit from Carlos.
Imbadder then calj I. Badcoming
so very true saw him in the 80's he makes the guitar sound like it's crying love him
eyy
I have said that since I heard him play 40 years plus years ago... you have good ears and soul to understand what you and I hear. blessingas

Saw him once in Columbia MD, such a great show, he was gracious to the opening act (Rusted Root), and the audience. A great man and musician.
I was at that same show. You're right; I've seen him 5 times so far and every show he invites the opening act to jam for a song or two. Most of them can't hang, though. This performance was in East Berlin 1987, hence why he talked about been well treated and hoping seeing the citizens again in the West World.

amazing
What a great anthem for Europe.
Paul Minihan Certainly better than the 'Ode to Joy 'anthem' that the vile EU claims to represent Europe.
You are correct Kevin. No doubt about that.
The song is about Europa who was carried away by Zeus in form of a bull. The Earth's cry (Phoenicia) and the heaven's smile (Olympus).
This Song was An is Today Still so sensual and beautiful and so romantic ❤️
I don’t live in the past, but this was when Carlos played with real soul and feeling, the tone here is not quite as good as when he played his Yamaha guitar, but the feeling and sincerity is still there before he started playing less than heartfelt in the late 90s. old but gold
why do the 70's synths sound so much better than 80's synths
Jim Coot because it’s all analog, no digital synthesis
Buick GSX that’s no answer
Because a lot of 80's synths used a synthesis technique called FM synthesis (frequency modulation) that was newly discovered/invented in the 80's which caused it to be vastly overused. Hence most 80's synths sound kind of the same
I totally agree
So true! Yamaha DX7 instead of Rhodes and Hammond...pity!
MAGNIFICO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUSIC
