Another one of his great instrumentals. Europa, Song Of The Wind, Aquamarine, I Love You Much Too Much. Songs don't always need words when the music can express feelings even better.

@@anothercomment3451Santana's voice is stronger than Gary Moore's. You know immediately, after one note that it's Carlos. Can't say the same for Gary Moore.

Line up is from the Moonflower album, the one album that had me hook, line and sinker at the age of 13, I’m 60 now and still a die hard fan! Praying he recovers quickly for his back ailments and is back touring, making music and making us all happy with his stage presence and guitar mastery! T. Vasquez

The Yamaha SG (played here) is by far his best tone, he said he stopped playing them because they are heavy and hurt his back and shoulder. But they are THE best sound he ever had.

    • @stratcat9432

@BluesLicks101 I absolutely agree. Never was bowled over by his PRS tones. It's still Carlos beautiful melodic playing, but the Yamaha years as well as his Gibson SG years , were tone that was golden in it's godlike beauty.

This is my favorite track by Santana. It starts slow and builds to the crescendo. I even used this track to wake up to for several years. By the time it was over, I was wide awake! And ready to start my day.

    • @12groney

Yes, the Yamaha/ Boogie years were his best sound. He would hold a note and it would reach the stratosphere. I walked in a supermarket once and Europa was playing on the intercom. I never heard it anywhere but at home or at friends. When he held that one note in the solo people came to a stop and leaned their heads back looking straight up like Carlos does and that's no exaggeration. I don't even think they realized they did it. Music moves people in ways that can't be explained.

Music does indeed move us in unexplainable ways - and Carlos' espy. I remember first time I heard Europa, which was my gateway into his music. I HAD to hunt down his Moonflower album the next day. Continues to be one of my favourite albums.

From the days when Carlos felt his music deeply. Sensational. I agree with with many above... The Yamaha guitar had the tone; not too muddy, not too distorted, not too many effects, just clear and pure soulfulness. Carlos uses too many effects since then.

It must have been the early 1970’s when I first listened to Samba Pa Ti and bought Greatest’ Hits. My first Santana album, many to follow. Revelations is one of my many favorites that inspired me to finally learn to play the guitar at age 59 (about 50 years too late). I have a long way to go, I know I’ll never get there, but I already have lots of fun trying. Thanks Carlos!

There is no greater perfection, wonder and better modulated vibration than the song of many birds, capable of transmitting authentic happiness through sound waves through the air. Humans have imprisoned, trapped and on many occasions we have also destroyed them through our catastrophic environmental actions... not many others have protected and safeguarded them, studying and conserving their habitats and territories, respecting them as a key part of Mother Nature. No one, and nothing, can sing like a bird. However, perhaps and only perhaps, Carlos Santana has been the only person on the planet capable of approaching, through the sounds of his guitars, what the birds say to each other. Thank you Carlos, the ecology of the planet owes you a lot.

That sustain and incredible tone come in large part from his MESA/Boogie Mark I amp. I use Boogies, and you don't need pedals. The preamp and cascading gain are just awesome; better and more "organic" than any pedal could ever give. Search "Santana, MESA/Boogie". The story of how Randall Smith (MESA's founder) and Santana found each other is really cool. Santana helped put MESA on the map as much as the amp helped Carlos get his signature sound.

      what about the fingers??👏

    • @moustachio334
      @moustachio334 3 года назад

Santana gets his sustain from turning the volume of his amp up and walking to different parts of the stage near the amplifier and marks which notes feedback at which spots with tape then he cuts the guitar volume back. This is how he gets a really clean tone at the same time. It has a lot to do with the separation pre/power section of the Mesa Boogie that makes this easier for him. The other big factor in how he gets his tone is the speaker he uses. I forget which one but you can see it had an aluminum dome in that Boogie cabinet. Also the way he holds that giant triangle shaped pick makes a big tonal difference.

I always thought he played an Yamaha SG2000, but there seems to be sites that say he played the 2000 and soem the 175b?
This is one of my favourite Santana tracks.
