Serious question, how much glue do you get through, per panel or per sq/m etc? Or roughly how many 1kg bottles for a 6x4m? It’s the one but I can’t work out!
Using the wood to link the panels doesn't that cause thermal bridge from outside to inside at every point you've secured with timber ...thought the idea of the panels was to create a thermal insulated space between timbers ...serious question trying to learn lol 👍
Thanks for your comment. Completely understand your point but there needs to be a crossover of materials within the wall somewhere unless you wish to cover the exterior with a sheet insulation. Think of a traditional timber build; the studs will be the point where there will be thermal bridging. Same for SIP panels but the studs are 1.22m apart not 400mm or 600mm as per traditional build. It is likely a question for the SIP manufacturer, we just build the product as per recommended spec and have noted that they perform very well. Thanks.
Generally no. We make the floor traditionally with joists and 18mm OSB board. It’s much stronger and we can place our ground screws where the timbers cross.

Approx 5 bottles for a 6x4m building. Bottles are 1kg each.

Is there a reason you are using solid wood as splines rather than specific SIP splines with a foam core?

Solid wood splines are stronger, the panels are insulated enough as they are.

Bit of a novice, but why did you screw in before putting the ply in and what the name of the glue? Thanks
We screwed the OSB board to the timber spline that was put into the panel (with glue). Glue is expanding wood adhesive 👍

Can you use SIPs to build a small A Frame (no walls, just roof and the gable walls)??
Yes of course. Just need to cut the Timbers to suit (at the right angle). We tend to do a hand cut roof the traditional way if this is required.
