- Building a garden room or workshop floor in structural timber is a very simple process with all of the joists the same length, I really enjoy getting out on site and doing some serious first carpentry and joinery
My hinge jigs are back in stock now too!!

That back garden is bigger than my local park.
Enjoyed the video immensely, looking forward to the remainder of the build, thanks for sharing
Looks like it going to be another good quality build. Love your attention to detail. Its a shame others don't follow your example.
Thanks 👍
they do, many a bit worse, many a bit better and some are exceptional. up to you to decide who's worth of your time and money. Nice job robin.
Looking very nice. All the care with the screws pays off! (Something about “well begun is half done” comes to mind.). Thanks for the video. Looking forward to the next installments.
Awesome work as always Rob, love watching your videos.
whoa. this looks gorgeous.
Your skills show no bounds Robin, and hopefully, one day, you can teach me how to make split screen video clips as well.🤩 Joists look fab mate.😎
Master clevett , never fails to impress 👍👌
Fantastic as always
If I wasn't as old as I am I would love to be your apprentice. Learnt so much from your videos. 👍👏
Cheers my mrs wants me to build a summerhouse next year for homeworking so will come in handy
Great video Robin ,thanks
its looking good great attention to detail nice one
that room looks bigger than my house!!!!!
thought you'd forgotten about this build, glad you haven't as i enjoy watching and learning
Glad you do it exactly like I do 👍
Inspiring work robin thanks💪🏼
Robin clevett your brilliant 👏
Thank Paul, super kind words mate!!
That video came out great Robin awesome buddy see you tomorrow 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Yes bro, see you tomorrow!!
Hi Robin, Thank you for all your video's, enjoyed watching loads of them, including skill builder. I'm coming up to 64 years of age and been in construction since I was 16. I'd love to come and help you for a few days for no money but lots of tea! I live in the Twickenham area and prepared to travel. I won't bring my zimmer frame with me so don't worry, I'm quite fit apart from that.
Don’t think I’ve ever heard Robin say “rough it in” until now haha! Quality work as ever, new channel is great Robin 👍🏻
Lovely work mate! I thought that those screws weren’t all the way in. Then looking at the fence you realise how much the garden drops!!
very nice indeed
such a special channel ya got going here Robin, just can't say it enough ... who is editing it all? please pass on my compliments again to the guys helping and always a stellar walk through you provide us on these exciting projects.
Fab job there mate 😀
Very impressed was it all done in one day 👍☘️🇮🇪👏
nice one Robin
Class as ever - love this new concept of a massive project running (Big Build) alongside smaller jobs and tips. Class channel - legend of a man
Drove past you today in Carshalton beeches! Was like seeing a carpentry rock star !
Next time stop and say hi mate!!!!!
@@ukconstruction I was with the wife and she wouldn’t let me 😂 next time buddy
Brilliant educational videos on building process to correct standards. Learning more each episode. Looking to start my garden room project soon. Have details of Ground Screw installer, could you please provide details of your Timber Frame Supplier too so can specify build. Thank you.
Nice.
The price of that wood, plus your labour cost, bet we're looking at house prices to build that
Just a quick question Robin. I've seen you use a scarf joint on a roof construction. Why not use them when installing the joists instead of overlapping them?
Hey Robin. Looks great mate. Quick question why don't you install yellow tounge flooring first then the stud walls?
nice job Robin! as always! I ve been missing wood construction projects on your channel for a while :). Can you share what timber size you used for this framing and what is the distance between ground screws?
Was going to ask the same.. assume its 2x6 and 1 meter span of screws.
Robin, are your ear defenders automatic, ie the protection only kicks in when there's machine noise?
Did you ever take an after photo of the finished job, it would be good to see 👍
Andys a lucky man
Knows wat he is tat tho just mean to be working with a master
Hi robin just subscribed to your channel I am not a carpenter but I enjoy woodworking and also tools and what a great craftsman you are just a quick question is that Milwaukee 18v wormdrive circular saw easier to follow the cut line than a regular sidewinder circular saw and also it's must be a first wormdrive advalable to buy in the UK as they were only advalable to buy in the USA
Hi Robin great video, what Snickers trousers are you wearing in your video? Thanks
Hi robin, where do you get the wall panels made up from? thanks
Looking on building my own summer house (gym) 22ft x 12ft what’s the base or easiest base (footings) for me to use? I love them steel anchor’s but that’s going to be costly and something I don’t no nothing about. Concrete piers work fine or? Please help as there is to many video’s showing different ways but some look like the building would subside after a couple of years.
Btw brilliant videos, always a pleasure to watch 💯
Crazy how uneven that ground is compared to the fence line etc
This is at another location from the big addition u r doing, correct? How is the pool doing at your house? Do u heat it? It must b very costly. I only heat my Jacuzzi. Although it's warm enough now to swim every morning. I'm slowing learning the terms. Fixing r nails and screws. We still do the inches and feet. I always look forward to RC and the builds.
Do you ever put a moisture barrier between the top of the screw and the timber?
Great video as usual Robin.
Could you explain how and why timber frame companies don't have to use heavy green treated structural timber. But that's all we can get from the merchants, other than cls
Hi Tom, we have lots of timber that comes in a clear treatment, we do use the standard tanalised stuff too!!
Hi Robin, where are you getting you plastic plywood from please? Really need some to refurb some gates. Awesome video as ever 😁
NOOICE!!!
How do you join your rim joists together, the ones at the front and back of the structure? Over a post/ with a double joist between the two sections?
Coming along nicely, that poor grass, never to see light again ☠️
I'm looking at this and I'm really wondering if I need these type of screws for a 5x4 garden Room ;)
I do appreciate your generosity but wondered about the levels. Is the ground on a slope / gradient or is it the floor?
It's the ground. It is a bit of an optical illusion.
Everything Rob does is on the level. Exactly on the level.
Little tip for you robin ,when using a rear handle saw tip your timber to 80°and let the weight of the saw do the cutting ,this way you never have any binding at the end of your cut
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@jamiefors5062 what is funny?
It’s like trying to tell Ronaldo how to take free kicks 😂😂😂
@@darrenmaxwell3108 do you think Robin was born knowing everything, he has become the top Chippy today by learning from experience and other people, I am sure you know all there is to know so don't listen to anyone else 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
Great video, how is the stock of timber and materials in your area like?
Not great mate and its nearly double the price form this time last year!!
Where do you buy your timber from?
Just love watching you work Robin, I love your ethos of getting everything perfect, not "ah.....that'll do" that is so common. People who take pride in their work are worth every penny. Appreciate your time in making these videos too. 👍
Pythagoras would be proud
What are those structures you are putting the wood on circular things the foundations?
Which timber frame manufacturer did you have assist with the design?
Your No2 is a big lad Robin. You expecting trouble? 😬
No I'm just small!!
👍
Pfuuu
Great video
Direct like from România 👍🤝👏
Thanks 👍
👏what make us you’re tool pouch Robin plz
That's quite a slope, those screws really are something
awesome. love my comment
Done!
Why are the screws at different levels Robin ? I didn't understand that bit
All the ground screws are dead level and all laser levelled, the site slopes in two directions away from the front corner of the new building so it gives this mad illusion that the screws are out of level!!
@@ukconstruction that's such a big slope that's a crazy illusion ! Thanks Robin great work as always
And this is how a garden room is supposed to be built...
Thanks mate!
Would it not be easier putting flooring down next before wall frames ??
Well there will be electrical cables and other services passing through the floor so we will put down the Egger Protect flooring after we have erected the walls and put the roof on, make sure to check that video out too
🤦♂️
Are you a torx screw man robin?
yes mate where ever I can
great video, thanks. I'm sure its right but the perspective, with the hill, fence etc really bugged me, LOL.
You and me both!
jobs a goodun
Got the 1st comment in. Thank you very much.
Comrade Clevett. Are you available to do ribbon-cutting opening ceremonies? A new local garden centre is opening and I'm a bit busy this weekend.
Not yet!
@@ukconstruction No problem mate. I was going to split the fee with you. £75 for me, £25 for you!
Yo
That wood is worth more than the house in the background lol
I see Robin had got himself a Donk
He's cheating though he's got a nail gun
What happened to the big build?
These jobs are running together keep checking back mate
@@ukconstruction I will. Love seeing you do this work so professionally and with such consumate skill. Great channel.
Size of that garden 😮😅
Chippies are just failed bricklayers
Doesn't look like that timber is treated
I hate a void under a build, I think it's creating a rat hotel sometimes.
Difficult to watch with earbuds early evening or on TV when everyone's gone to bed as the tools and impact drivers are too loud,
This comment for real 😂😂😂👍
Totally random video…..
Explains hardly anything lol
Best construction videos on RUclips.
Do you ever use timber toothed connectors in between joists when doubling up joists?
42+ years ago when at school, I used to say all the time to the Maths teachers what will I ever use pythagorus for when I Ieave school !!
