  • I don't recall exact details about this system, but I know it was a 4100U! Fun, good sized inspection! That noise though.. It'll hurt the ears.

    How do they make the fire alarm do 2 different codes like the true alerts are on continuous and the welock is on code 3

    • @trainerred2063
      @trainerred2063 5 лет назад +7

      The Wheelocks are self coded. The TrueAlerts would need to be coded by the panel.

      @@TheFirePanel we had Wheelock alarms at my elementary school. The building had AS alarms in the hallway & RSS strobes in the classrooms & bathrooms. Our school also had portables. 4 of them had truealerts, one had two AS's in the same room (but why tho...). My third grade classroom was a two roomed portable that had NS's (labeled Gamewell) in both rooms. The code was set to continuous and the building alarms & truealerts would do that code. But NS's would go off in code 3. Now six years later, the building is getting an upgrade because it's 60 years old, and the alarms are now the new simplex truealert es speakers.
      Fast forward to 2016 my freshman year of high school, ou school has the whole Gentex Commander series. 75% of the alarms did code 3, but some of the Commander 1's in the back hallways & stairwells did Continuous. The next year they replaced all of the 1's and 2's with 3's. And they're all doing that fast code 3 thing.

      Rob Scott the wheelock has its own circuit board that’s producing the code 3

    Sometimes I wish the alarms themseleves would give a warning before the sound.
    Like a quieter beep sound counting down 5 or 3 seconds before the alarm so people have a chance to cover their ears so their ears aren't blown apart from the sound

      On some alarms, the strobe flashes before the horn sounds, which could be used as a visual warning before the audible alarm is heard.

    The reason for a Wheelock AS outside is cause back then before the ES series they doesn’t have whetherproof devices, correct?

    This must've been painfully loud 😁(Code-3 is loud enough for TrueAlerts (cuz that was my elementary school life till 3rd grade. Nothing but incredibly loud TrueAlerts on Code-3). But Continuous? That's overkill pretty much). The flooring might've also had a impact to the general "loudness" as well.
    Either way, this is no "pleasing" sound to hear on a daily basis 😆 (good ol' hearing protection would be your friend for that). Great video! 😉

      In elementary school we had Wheelock AS's on Continuous. In middle school we had Truealerts & Faraday 6226w's on Continuous. But worst of all was a school my dad used to work at, that had Seimens UMMT's...on Continuous.

    Wheelock AS's in code-3 with the system in continuous always are delayed. It happened in my elementary school and pretty sure it happened in my high school.

    My high school was very weird. The main building used wheelock mts but all with different sound patterns. One part of the building was continuous, another part was code 3, and then another was like some sort of slow March time. How does that happen?

    It doesn't seem like they have true alert horns in some of the classrooms in some areas of the building you can bearly hear them I think there should've been either ones in the some of the rooms or at least ones a little closer.
