Simplex TrueAlerts going off (Code-2)?

  • An issue with a standpipe was causing alarms in our building. This building is on a Simplex system(not sure exactly which one) with TrueAlerts in the building and storefronts except for a SpectrAlert Advance in one of the stores which is in Code-3. This systems sounds in a unique coding almost like a Code-2 except there is a brief code at the beginning followed by two longer soundings. You may notice the TrueAlert on the first floor sounds weird. Once the system was silenced(automatically?) All horns/strobes stopped except for the store with SpectrAlert Advance which was still sounding and a few TrueAlerts on first floor were strobe only.

    Probably a faulty sync module. I heard some others working just fine.

    This is actually an easy fix and a very stupid install mistake. You’ll notice the strobes flash in a temporal 3 pattern which means these alarms are getting a temporal coded signal pattern from the panel. This is not how smart sync works. There needs to be a smartsync protocol feeding into these alarms. So there is a booster somewhere that is not set properly that’s causing this issue. Very easy fix.

    Spectralert advance causing that miscommunication on the nac bc simplex panel has a built in smartsync for the smartsyc truealerts causing maulfunction... this a 3rd party goof off installed the spectralert.. i just tested my advance on the smartsync module with my truealerts and it did the same exact thing..

    Did anybody noticed how the newer Simplex annuniciator was retrofitted on the old Simplex annuniciator in 3:05?

    If this system is based on a simplex panel then maybe the spectr alert 's sync module is causing problems.If the panel is something like DMP or silent knight,it may be the panel causing problems since true alerts usually need to receive a syncing pulse from panel(which means they are coded by the panel).So the system may be "cured" by using an outdoor wheelock device and a simplex panel.

    It's weird cus my school has two System Sensor L-Series alarms in one of the hallways (not the main 8th grade one) and they also go off in Code 2. Really strange.

    It could be from the Spectralert Advance outside, causing the Smartsync to get confused a bit, or there's too many alarms in one circuit, or a faulty Smartsync module. There's several possibilities to why the Truealerts did that.

      sorry to be 1 year late, but simplex used wheelock ASWP’s or weatherproof System Sensor Advances before they developed their own outdoor alarm

    I think it has to do with the panel being coded to smart sync and also trying to run coding, that’s what it sounds like to me
    Edit: it could be too many devices on a circuit, it sounds like some devices are coding just fine, super weird

    Ugh! It’s these stupid ass SmartSync ones that don’t work right. If you manage to get the horn working, It skips half of the 1st blast, and sometimes the strobe don’t work. If the strobe works, sometimes the horn doesn’t! Simplex needs to fix that. Cuz. They r horrible…!

    The Spectra Alert was on a Simplex Smart Sync and caused the fault

    I would have touched the Fire Alarm if I was there to feel the vibrations from the horn going off!
    Loud though I probably have to have my ear protection

    SpectrAlert Advance causing that miscommunication on the nac bc simplex panel has a built in smartsync for the smartsyc truealerts causing maulfunction, due to it not being compatible with Simplex smart sync modules or panels. Wheelock devices are compatible with Simplex modules and panels and will make Truealerts sound in code-3

    If the SpectrAlert Advance was on the SmartSync Circuit it may have confused the TrueAlerts and caused them to do that.

      Ian Schrader I know but they can’t have that many truealerts on 1 circuit. My point was who installed it?

    • @freddievanfleet1706
      @freddievanfleet1706 6 лет назад +1

      Aaron Productions It’s also possible that the one sync module is faulty. There were other TrueAlerts working fine.

      @@Aaronproductions May have been a non-Simplex company called out to fix a faulty device on this pre-existing system. If they couldn't afford proper Simplex service I think it is entirely possible that they REALLY cheaped out and took the lowest bidder.

    Wonder if a ground fault can cause that

  • @vintagefirealarmguy5285
    @vintagefirealarmguy5285 4 года назад

    The issue thats making the truealerts sound like that is because of the spectralert advanced. The spectralert advanced should replaced with a wheelock rsswp or a outdoor truealert

      @@holidaytracker im not exactly sure if thats the case. I could be right I could be wrong. I know wheelock devices such as the wheelock as, rss, ns, e70, ch70, and the newer mt. And maybe the exceder. Those devices are listed to sync with simplex
