Yes, please for solo.Thanks
100% Played solo all my wargaming life due to many different reasons. Always on the look out for other games
Definitely need a solo game or perhaps even 2+ player co-op on tabletop
Heck yeah
Yes for solo. Rumbleslam has great starter set.
Rumbleslam is a criminally underrated game!
No Moonstone? That has a 2-player starter for under $100 US. They're just about to release a second starter set containing the other two factions as well.
Agree 100% Great game, superb miniatures.
Uncle Atom probably hasnt it himself.
Moonstone is criminally underrated
A second starter set you say? OK good to know!
@@FoolishHyena it has one of the most beautiful minis, i have seen
Mutant year zero: Zone Wars is an excellent skirmish game, 2 teams of 5 models, rules, battlemap, tokens, rulers and flat pack terrain, and can be found for £45!! The expansion robots and Psionics elevates the experience to 4 players with more terrain and new game modes. well worth a look.
And it is really easy to get started with too without being boring.
Wargames Atlantic currently has a The Last War set with rules, dice, tokens monsters and four different factions for £70 - Last War is a WW1 themed horror skirmish game using the Forbidden Psalm rules set
Was just about to mention this myself. A great game and Wargames Atlantic's WW1 sprues are superb, but this set includes a weird world war sprue to add opportunities for mutation and other oddness. Amazing stuff.
Very cool, I missed this thanks.
I actually pre-ordered it, but haven’t gotten it yet. Thanks for watching!
The Star Wars Legion core sets can be found on a sale pretty easily under $100, they come with 2 skirmish sized armies, 2 character commanders, terrain, all the tokens you'll need, and a rule book
The Quar character designs are awesome, so well done and full of … well … character :) Would love a video about good solo experience games as well, sometimes the brain and body only needs a couple of beers and a couple of hours of alone-time relaxing with a good game and no human interaction :)
Seconded on the awesomeness of Quar.
Most of the starter sets for TTCombat's games should come in under $100 I think. I have the Carnevale starter and the old Dropfleet Commander starter and they're both impressive sets. The also do starter sets for Dropzone Commander, Half Tilt and Rumbleslam.
I was going to post the same thing 😁
Carnevale, which is a great game, actually has to 2 starter sets, one quite a bit cheaper but still has everything to play it 👍
+1 on the TTCombat sets. Carnavale has a very cheap "mini" starter set too, which IIRC retails around £35.
I never played it, but the Carnevale starter set has an incredible value for money!
Just picked up the Rumbleslam set for my son.
@@photonsword oh, I forgot about that one - even though I have some models on my painting desk right now 😅
Also worth mentioning, One Page Rules (if you already have a 3D Printer) has a starter pack with two starting armies for free!
Just got Blkout starter. It’s $120 but good sculpts and tight ruleset. Heard about it because of my Uncle Adam. You and Ash at GMG are still my favorites. Appreciate your contribution to the community.
Been looking at this game for a while. Looks really cool.
I wanted to mention it, but it was a bit more than $100 and I have talked it up a bit recently here in the channel, so I felt okay not mentioning it here. I just recently got both forces painted and I’m getting terrain together. Thanks for watching!
Not sure if it´s under $100 but Moonstone is a great little game and they have just released a new two-player starter set.
Would absolutely love to see more content on Solo, I'm exclusively a solo gamer for reasons and would absolutely be interested in hearing more in that vein. thanks again for helping me get back into the hobby.
Cyberpunk Combat Zone by Monster Fight Club. The new starter will be $100, the first version is $120 but with discounts comes in around $100. Great action system that also tracks damage.
Relic Blade is great. And yes for solo
Please do a solo game video, I love having the option to test tactics through the week before a game night!
Solo and Narrative Co-op games, which can be played solo, are two great categories to review. Getting a game with others is not always possible and the soon to be dark, cold, and snowy months will soon be upon us, which makes it more difficult to find an opponent to play against. In the winter I would rather get my folding 4'x4' table out in the living room in front of the fire with an old movie playing in the background and the cat on the nearby chair as referee. The cat gets its own set of foam dice that I chuck along the floor that she loves to chase.
I recently purchased "When Nightmares Come: An Investigative Wargame of Supernatural Horror (Osprey Wargames)" -- I plan to use some miniatures from some of my board games as proxies for the game. Specifically, Cthulhu Death May Die.
TTCombat in the UK have 2 Starter sets (Technically a 2 player starter £65 and a 2 player Intro £35) which have minis, rules, tokens, dice, playmat, measuring sticks, 3d cardboard buildings and Parkour and Dagon, plus the 2 sets don't repeat any models but have the same 2 factions so can be used together. They also recently launched Half Tilt, a halfling jousting game with MDF terrain for around £45. I think these qualify for your under $100, depending on how stupid our respective governments get. The minis are all resin. This is the company that also makes Dropzone Commander (10mm sci-fi), Dropfleet Commander (space battles) and Rumbleslam (Fantasy wrestling) all of which I think come in on or around your $100 range.
Would love to see you look at Full Spectrum Dominance.
I also concur. I would LOVE a look at some solo systems
Would love to see a video about miniature game where you can play solo
Would love a rundown of solo wargames. I only really know about Forbidden Psalm, Rangers of the Shadowdeep and your games with Vince
Marvel Crisis Protocol's 1.0 release is hovering around $100 right now, and all the updated cards are available for free (if considering playing outside the 2 player experience). It comes with 10 minis and some awesome modern city-scape terrain.
Would love of why i like it on the Dredd game, as i have been eyeing it also. Great Video!
Another fantastic Video Uncle Atom. I love the Quar stuff from Wargames Atlantic. I would love to see you do a list on Solo games as well. Thanks for all you do. You have made my Hobby experience better with each video you produce.

A very very interesting mini game whose starter set is particularly cheap is "Space Swarm" from TT Combat. The whole game is made of three (or four, don't remember) sheets of MDF. You get the ruler the dice and a bunch of MDF space ships. The rulebook is as easy as it can be (A4 printed booklet). I find this is a great little game I used as a filler between one big game and the other when I used to play with my friends I Japan. I forgot to say that it's only 15 euros so you should just try it for that price 👍🏻👍🏻
Oh, and there's also an expansion set with two new factions for around the same price... So if you buy them combined you get 4 factions, terrain, dice and books for only 30€. Pretty good 👍🏻
Bring on the solo games!
the mutant year zero starters are great , two different starters each have 2 factions rules, assembled minis and terrain for like 65
I will note this is USD $100 a lot of these are over $130-150 if you're based in Australia.
And yes Uncle Atom, a video on the solo play potential would be good. Lately aside from all of your games I've also been playing Kuroi.
Battletech with all of its starter sets are great.
Recommended from Warlord the Sláine two player starter too.
Based on another 2000AD comic. Conan-style fantasy.
I was familiar with it, but never really read it - I always gravitated to the sci-fi and dystopian stuff back in the day. Thanks for watching!
Also please don't sleep on Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars.
Heard it was made by the Necromunda guy and you can play as a Duck, man.
Marvel Crisis Protocol
The old box set was right at $100
The new one is like $120
But it's everything you need to play. Models, 3D plastic terrain, measuring tools, and dice. It's an Amazing value.
Yes please for solo!
Check out the zone wars for mutant year zero setting, great valde 2 players starter set + expansion so you can play 4 players..
Haven’t watched the video yet, but the Quar two player starter is great! Edit: Awesome, Quar was mentioned :)
I would love to see a video on solo games, yes please!
I LOVE the Alpha Strike "starter" set and i'm floored that you never played the system! I am like you in that i dislike the hexes in Classic BattleTech and i don't care much for the crunch in it. Alpha Strike, while much simpler, is intended to be faster and more "scoped out" than classic. You tend to play with 7-10 models per side as opposed to 4 on 4 in Classic, and you aren't staring at charts upon charts most of the game. in fact, if you memorize the critical hit chart and how to calculate your target numbers, you don't need to really look at any charts while playing!
That being said, i am very interested in that $45 Steel Rift set. That's a great price for a gift, too!
But does it still have GATOR?
@@XanderTuron It has SATOR.
I’ll be honest - I’m not sure I want 7-10 mechs per side. I think four per side would be perfect. I guess we’ll see. Thanks for watching!
@@tabletopminions the game still works great at 4 on 4! I definitely started there when I first played and had a blast. I think the intro scenario in the AS box is a 2v4 and then the second scenario is a 5v8 using all 13 models. However, I think they add too much too fast for someone's second game, and I usually recommend ignoring the formation bonuses they tell you to use.
That being said, once your more comfortable with the rules, your preference for smaller unit count will give you more headroom to add in interesting rules like formation bonuses and special command abilities to add more personality to each uniit.
I like to say that while AS doesn't have much mech customization, you can customize the rules of the game itself instead. You can really tune it to the level of detail that you prefer. While I like to be competitive, the game shines in narrative/campaign play.
Bonefields! It's a small set coming in at somewhere between like $70-$80 for some very quaint dwarf and goblin skeletons and necromancers and vampires. It's a small ruleset that lets you toss kind of whatever models you want at the game, but it gives you enough to play with right away in the two-player starter. It's a small skirmish game where you go about summoning your Skelly Bois to the field to duke it out, with a little bit of resource management to accommodate summoning or buffing. Perfect kind of game to throw some scatter terrain on a green flock mat and reminisce about the old days. Sold through Hayland Terrain. The models are metal pours that are likely hand-poured, but still great quality. Bonus, it'll give you some fun models for use in Deth Wizards.
Great to see Judge Dredd some love. Another option is Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone $125. Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars $50
I *LOVE* a 2 player starter set, to the amusement of my Single System friends. One day I will find something that will drag them away from AoS and my wife can stop rolling her eyes every time the delivery guy drops off another box for me.
Been there. Thanks for watching!
PULP ALLEY is a great little skirmish game with a Starter set that contains 2 Leagues, A Core Rulebook, and all the base cards and dice you need to play.
Bushido: Risen Sun 2 player starter (2022). It's around $80-90, rulebook, 10 minis, tokens, cards. All models in it are Ronin - can be used in any faction. And yes for solo!
Oh heck yeah! Totally second this recommendation. What a fun, criminally overlooked game.
Another yes for solo, please.
Another shout for to Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars, from Free League. The starter set is listed as $66, but online sellers have it for $50. You get an incredible amount of stuff, including 10 sun-dropped minis, cards, tokens, 36x36 map and three (!) sheets of nice cardboard terrain. And yes please for solo content!
I am pleased to see Quar get some attention. I have watched some play throughs and I hope our friends at Guerilla Miniatures does some play throughs for us too. And two thumbs up for Steel Rift as well.
Highly rate fallout factions! Like Necromunda without the bloated rules. Introduced my friend to it who's never played a wargame in his life and he picked up all the rules in no time flat! Loads of fun!
Yes please some solo wargaming video 👍
The Blood and Plunder starter set ( Firelock Games) has been on sale for $99 for a while if you are in to Piratey fun. You even get 2 ~28mm ships!
Battletech: A Game of Armored Combat. This box set is an amazing deal for the price and gives two or more players enough content to play for years.
2 player boxed sets, under $100? Those are the best. The Alpha Strike box is a great value, 2 Inner Sphere lances vs 1 Clan Star. Rules, terrain, cheat sheets, all for $80 MSRP. PLUS the models can be used in Classic Battletech. I look forward to seeing your painted up units. Great video
Kill team's starter set is a pretty good deal, you can find it for about 80 bucks now. You get two kill teams for krieg and orcs, some plastic terrain, kill team's barrier and marker stuff, dice, and some books. Only problem with it is that it's for the edition that's about to be replaced, so the books are useless, but it's not that bad since kill team's new rules are going to be free.
I'm a massive advocate for Warhammer Underworlds (it's GW's best game by far), the 2023 starter has two competitive teams out of the box with a lot of potential for growth. It's $63, which is surprisingly cheap for the amount of potential you get.
I'll also add, the game is a lot less "buy everything" since the new rule format. You can buy one or two supplements for $30-45, and it's just a really great game and I want everyone to play it.
From Ground Zero Games for the Full Thrust starship combat game there is the "FT Intro Fleet Double". Two fleets of 8 ships each (you can choose the factions) for around $40.00. The rules for this wonderful game are FREE!
Ttcombat Dropzone Commander 2 player starter set is about $60 USD. Comes with a ton of models, most are pretty easy assembly. Great 10mm scale game that plays on a 4x4 area.
Carnevale has a 2 player starter under $100, I've been pretty interested myself but haven't quite decided to buy it...yet.
Yes for solo. Including Demon Ship by (Uncle Atom's friend) Malev 😎👍
Great video!
Would definitely love to see a solo spotlight!
Takkure, a cyberpunk-themed sports game for under $80. Highly recommended.
Interesting, I’ve never even heard of it. Thanks for watching!
Wargames Atlantic is going to release a starter set for The Last War for 85 USD. Comes with 25 models from 3 different WWI boxes, so you can make up to 5 different warbands if you like. Also has a conversion sprue, tokens, bases, and the core rules. It's also a great way to start converting models with all the bits and different sprues tossed in.
I pre-ordered it, but I haven’t gotten it yet. I’m looking forward to it. Thanks for watching!
Forbidden psalm the last war from Warlord games. Shipping next week. 85$
Victory at Sea from Warlord games has a really nice little starter set
Dredd is a blast.
I would love to see more of these!!!
I'd put my vote in for, not only solo games, but also potentially games for more than 2 players.
Yes for solo game reviews
QUAR! I love them.
Other great games with 2 player start sets under $100 I can recommend are moonstone and eldfall chronicles. Moonstone is a very charming fantasy skirmish game with a very unique combat system. Eldfall is also a fantasy skirmish game that plays a bit like infinity with reactions but with a limit on the number of reactions each model can do. It also has rules for Cooperative and solo modes
Aye, please do a video on different solo games or ideas on how to make some popular games solo would be good
Great video. Nice to see Relicblade in there. I look forward to your thoughts when you try it. There is also Catacombs of Kural book for Solo/Co-Op that I am looking forward to getting strated on.
I feel like I have every solo wargame I can think of, but definitely do a video on it in case I'm missing some!
Thanks Adam! Friday morning wouldn't be the same without you. ;)
The Stargrave rulebook and two boxes of Stargrave figures would be about sixty pounds so probably under a hundred dollars.
The Walking Dead: All Out War is a gold standard in starter sets in my mind. Obv depends if you like the zombie survival theme, but the starter set comes with everything you'll need. I do love these cheaper starter sets, seeing a LOT of very expensive starter sets that seem to miss the point.
Would love to see the solo video!!
Carnevale's two starter sets are where it's at!
Walking dead from Mantic soon to be back available. Think the starter set I got from them was £35 at UK games expo. Really good game and complete starter set.
Agree with this one. I'm not a Walking Dead fan but the tabletop game is absolutely fantastic.
Great video... Veey tempting options. Will love a solo game video... And also a multiplayer (more than 2)... Thanxs uncle Adam
I, too, would like to see an episode on solo games
I am working through my box of This Quar's War A Clash of Ryfles. I love the models and the game looks good.
Mutant Year Zero: Zone Wars
The rules are very straight forward, but there is complexity with the cards. The starter set has really everything for the game (dice, ruler, playing mat, paper terrain) for around 55€ in Europe. And the overall component quality is one of best I've evee seen!
Blitzbowl, Moonstone, Rumbleslam, and new Dropfleet starters!
Happy to see solo versions.
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but I would recommend Clash of Steel from Gale Force Nine. About $80 and you get a bunch of tanks... Big win all around
Relic Blade is so much fun, and Sean is such a nice person.
More than the exact price I like to see the set is actually complete.
At minimum it must have sufficient quantities of necessary game components like cards, tokens and special dice.
For the models it should have enough for two legal playable forces. They can be small and basic, but they should be legal. I hate those sampler forces that are the just to reach the basic rules but are missing mandatory units or minimums.
Typically you can only really get this with skirmish games. With army games the included forces seem to always be cut down samplers.
Thank you for your service.
Great list, I have a couple of them already myself 😁
A video on solo games would certainly be rad! 🤘🤘
If you want another fantasy skirmish game for the list give Anthems of War a peek! No starter pack but the rules are well priced and fully miniature agnostic with a lot of depth in character creation
Only problem with alphastrike is that some of the weapon rules aren't shown
Yes for a solo game video
Quar looks so cool. I'm definitely gonna pick that up, maybe my son could dig it, since he loves the worms video games
I've seen Cyberpunk RED: combat zone going for 89. I bought this game because the artwork caught my attention and so far, it is my game of the year. Not only a good starter set, it's the best introduction to war (skirmish) games. I was able to play this game with my son, wife and my friends that are usually not into wargaming and they had fun. My friend even sked me the other day to play again, that's a first! The way it is designed makes it easy to start playing. The only downside for me was that the models quality is not excellent comming from 40k/killteam. And if some people a not into building models, there is a new variation comming: edgerunners that will come with standees and should be even cheaper I guess(hope).
I got the first warcry box for £80 on a third party site in the UK and it was incredible value. Gone are those days I'm afraid
That was an amazing value. The terrain alone in that box was worth it. Thanks for watching!
I'd love to see a solo play video. Much appreciated!
Definitely like to hear the solo options
I know this vid is more of lesser known games, but Atomic Mass Games has their Marvel Crisis Protcol Starter set listed just at $100
My vote for a solo games episode. Thanks for the video.
Ditto on solo video. Thanks Uncle Adam!
I am a huge fan of a song of ice and fire. The starter set is $99 and even though the rules have been changed cmon games has the updated rules for free. Great game.
I think the Game of Armoured Combat (for Battletech) is the best purchase I have made in wargaming.
The Bolt Action 3rd ed starter set is about 100€, although you only get a single ruined house with that one for terrain.
Please do on the solo rulesets. These days those are my favorites.
