      Facts. Easy way to start is to go around to small dealerships and ask if they need some cars done. They are willing to pay the price what the local car wash charges but usually ask for discount on volume like extra services. Basically dont charge for a engine wash and if you got a wax job, take out the obvious scuffs and scratches without padding the bill. If you want the bigger dealerships you will need to get a interact machine. It's not the highest paying but its dependable work and loads of practice as you can generally get away with messing something up on a dealer's car as they themselves probably never even seen the car up close

      Seats could be coated with fabric coat for all we know.
      Like gtechniq that lasts for years, then there is no need to touch the seats.
      if it was not coated , and he would clean the seats and floormats/ carpets with steamer and extractor. It would go pretty fast

    Three times I've watched this now when lay in bed and three times I've never made it to the end. So relaxing. Trying to start up my own detailing/valeting business as its something I really like doing. I detail my friends two land rovers and his Honda civic once a month (for free obviously) with a lot of makeshift gear (small paint brushes and make up brushes instead of detailing brushes) and I really enjoy doing it. Yourself, detailing is JC and a channel called car cleaning guru as well as a handful of others have inspired me to attempt starting up. Watching your videos on detailing cheaply etc are a massive help Luke. Thank you

    Love the idea of steam it cleans it disinfects and a great job you have done.. One major problem steam gets everywhere into tiny groves where electrical contacts are. What you are doing is causing corrosion. You might say I'm using a quick spray here and there.
    I'm an electronic.. Electrical mechanical engineer and have seen this process cause really serious electrical faults down the line. Just be aware.. Not all cars are built the same..

  • @xycan8734
    @xycan8734 5 лет назад +3

    I don't have a ton of experience but I do have a steamer and with what I've done so far I question why not just steam instead of using the APC and detail brush for most things? It liquefies the grease, blasts the dirt out from the crevices, nooks, etc. You just have to use enough common sense not to hold it right up against the electronics or hold it there for to long. It basically does what the APC and brush are doing anyways no? You may not get it to 100% but we're really splitting hairs here.. Seems like a solid 95% plus and it skips a step.. am I wrong? When I go to dress the console at the end then I whip out my detail brush to do it and it'll get that last 5%.. seems like a great method.

    • @NickVetter
      @NickVetter 3 года назад

      I sometimes just spray apc which ads half a second and then go around with my steamer with the brush attachment. Best of both worlds.

    Why do so many detailers use the crevice vac attachment to vac the entire car? It doesn't seem like you are actually vacuuming the entire surface, but just touching it up. I use a horsehair vac attachment and it lifts the dirt, picks up junk and lifts the nap of the carpet. Any reason most use the crevice tool? Looks good when you are done, just asking.

    Hi Luke.
    I gues I watched the most of your interior vidz. I found it very practical. Very straight forward compared with a lot of other "youtube car detailers". Thnx for that.
    I wondered if there is a method to check if the upholestry,/fabric/leather could stand up against a steamer? How do you check that to prevend damaging the seats? Because you talked in your vidz about lexus seats and other high-end cars. But is there a way to check it beforehand on all different car seats?
    And also have you ever used a steamer that can also vacuum at the same time? And what are your thougts about them?
    I already subscribed and I'm looking forward to see your vidz of the exterior including thewaxing/sealing/ polishing part.

    Luke! Awesome video out of the hour 14 mins probably only ff 4 minutes maybe 5 minutes of the video! Definitely couldn’t ff when heard you talking on the phone just helped keep me tuned in for some reason lol. So maybe a video like this would be good for one of your speech over video or pod cast style video or whatever you wanna call it. And doesn’t have to be the entire video just here and there. I know your normally a talked tho so just a thought! Still a great video! But one question noticed you hit the windows twice what did you use?

    Just starting up a basic mobile waterless/rinseless car wash side business. I have bought a decent amount of chemicals and supplies. I'm going to run the mobile.wash out of my car. Question: can I leave all the chemicals in my car all the time? Like will they go bad if in direct sunlight?

      waxes , sealants, compounds sure they will be damaged. Cleaning chemicals not so. But store them as protected.from the heat as you can

    How do you deal with trash/random items in a customer's car? Do you ask them to remove prior to the detail or bag them up and throw away?

    • @nick.100
      @nick.100 5 лет назад

      jman70SS just bag it and throw it away unless it looks important cause they are paying you to clean their car

    • @vaughnharrison1921
      @vaughnharrison1921 5 лет назад

      I put everything in a plastic bag for the customer. Of course, obvious trash gets tossed but i put old receipts, loss change, paper clips, batteries, make up brushes, dinner mints, unused napkins or straws, pens, socks, books, manuals, spare keys, business cards are just a few things that I bag up and put in the passenger floor board when I am done. That forces them to go through the bag and let them decide if it’s trash or needs to be put back in car.

    Do you always vacuum at the end of the detail? or is that only if the car is in good shape to begin with.

    • @bengutierrez11
      @bengutierrez11 5 лет назад

      Michael Karry everything he is cleaning eventually falls to the floor with gravity. It’s double the work if he vacuums first

    Would steaming/cleaning the door seals/jambs before the door panels seem like a good play? In fact why not do the door jambs first thing?

    • @ronnieparamore5346
      @ronnieparamore5346 5 лет назад

      Xycan If the jams are really dirty I use the pressure washer (yes you can use it without creating a small lake in the car)and I do them first because I don’t want dirt flying everywhere, but on a vehicle like this it doesn’t really matter as much because they weren’t really dirty anyway .

      I use makeup brushes on them sometimes, and brushes with human hair for bristles, too. My beard hair, to be specific. I made a few short-bristle brushes out of it. Works awesome.
