Finally, someone who gets it! Yes, you are on point! IMHO I think a 25% increase on any product is ABSURD. And done in a pandemic? 'll tell you one thing, they will continue to do so as long as there are people who buy their products. So let's donate, then jack up the price to recoup the dollars what they donated. Maybe it's me, I don't think some of their bags are worth it. Marketing, marketing, marketing.
They can increase the prices as much as they want. They obviously don’t target those who really have to think about where they put their money. They target those who can just buy something if they like it without worrying about the price and wether it is justified or not. And come on? Do you really think if the handbags were top quality, they would have a material/labour worth of even close to 1000€? It’s a luxury product. Who ever buys Chanel is most likely aware of the fact that they are paying mostly for the name (of course quality as well, let’s be honest it’s not like Chanel sells terrible quality either) and most likely also doesn’t care about that fact. We just have to accept that Chanel wants to be exclusive and not for the average person. They have all the right to choose their costumers, nobody is entitled to luxury goods. We do not need Chanel handbags to survive.
I’m so glad this is getting so much repercusion amongst the YT luxury community. Honestly, I get that part of the luxury experience *can* be just enjoying the fact that you can pay for it, but it’s becoming absolutely ridiculous and completely out of touch with reality, as the insensitive timing proves. Another issue is whether companies like chanel expect that economic volatility is just going to get worse, and so they want to secure their future by targeting the group that will always remain immune to it... after all financial inequality is on the rise, so maybe they think that as time goes by less and less “middle class” people will have the acquisition power to indulge in one of their goods
Even Coach offers free repair services for free for bags that I’ve bought at their regular store so if I’m paying Chanel prices, I would expect them too as well. Smh.
Totally agree with you, I’ve been slowly falling out of love with chanel these past few years because of all the things you’ve said, the customer service, the quality and everything. This price increase just put a stamp on my decision. I don’t think I want to spend my hard earned money on such brand. I don’t think I can see this brand on positive light anymore.
Chanel bags are not essential items that we have to or should own. I can live without them. This price increase is truly outrageous. Now everyone can decide for themselves whether to join or distance themselves.
Pre-loved prices of Chanel and Louis Vuitton have gone up too. Yikes I have the ability to by a 7,000 Euro bag from Chanel, but never would! It’s insanity...I think insecure women get sucked into the hype. I don’t think Coco Chanel would pay that price either. I think that she would be horrified. It is understandable if they switch to a hand-made process in Italy.
100% agree, it’s so sad that Chanel is increasing prices where it’s quality is in so poor. 10 years ago you were getting gold plating on classics ... now the metal rubs off after few months and you are told it’s normal .. You are making good point Hermes stands by its products, Chanel is not so much...
I don’t get why people are so outraged. “Luxury” and fashion is a world of superficiality and pettiness. Everyone is complaining about Chanel’s quality but they’re still a booming business; especially in Asia where the worlds buying power is. Chanel will NEVER cost the price of Hermès bags because Hermès will just do a price increase similarly to follow. Luxury clients aren’t people who “save up” to buy. And brands like Hermès and Chanel don’t even want to come close to having these clients make up a fraction of their clientele. It’s annoying for everyone but this is how it is.
I agree with you people on RUclips acting like they're so mad because prices are going up on luxury bag, but they're the same people going to continue buying the luxury handbag. SMH
@@Buttercookiesssss Well, I must say I need to save for buying a Chanel, can't just go to their store anytime and get whatever I want. :D I still don't think that "Chanel isn't for me" if I can't afford it randomly every day, week, month or even every year. It just takes a little bit more time to save up.
Caleb Triggs Wrong! The outrage is not about the price increase it is because most of these bags are not even made in France and also the quality is not the same as they used to be.
I think this price increases also respond to a price elasticity situation that is very tangible in the secondary market. As you mention some of the classic models are hard to find in the stores. Hence customers go to the second hand market and they are willing to pay a hefty price premium for the bags. This is determining the true value of the product in the market. So to some extent we are the ones driving this price increases and validating their pricing strategy. Then you have the very distasteful timing.. but that increase was bound to happen in 2020... wouldn’t be surprised if they roll a second increase on Q4 2020.
I agree the chanel middle class consumer is in a catch-22 position. If you don't by new chanel bags after price increase this makes the company more "elitist"/ coveted, and brings them closer to their "ideal" customer. If you do buy the bag even though quality has not improved, then you're still validating the price increase. Again, if you buy vintage you contine drive up the demand of the chanel bag. The conundrum here is that chanel is still mass producing for a small select group of customers🤔. Which leads me to believe that this is all exclusivity marketing targeted to the middle class; and there is no real "ideal" customer they're marketing to.
The increase prices during this time is beyond incomprehensible. And quality...I don’t own a CHANEL and/or Hermès handbag but, I’ve heard that CHANEL’s is not even half of what Hermès produces. The pandemic has made us to refocus on what’s more important in life. Take care Evelyn and thank you for sharing your thoughts✨
I am not a Chanel fan, never was. But I agree with you 100%. I am glad that I always prefered DIOR. Their service is outstanding. As for Chase Amie´s video- I was very disappointed .... Not surprised that her video got so many thumbs down...Won't be watching her again....
oldpalmcity Chase Amie just told the truth. That’s how business works, I’m afraid. Pandemic or not, Chanel is a business and they have to increase their prices to account to their shareholders. Also, price increase is good if you already own a bag- the resale value of the bag will be higher when you go on to sell the bag.
Sure, it’s not surprising if her video gets a lot of down votes if she is not saying what everybody wants to hear. After all she is right. They are not holding back on goods that are essential right now and want to become more exclusive by increasing their prices. They have the right to do so. We are not entitled to luxury items. If someone were truly affected by the pandemic the Chanel price increase would probably be the last thing to cry about.
I totally agree with you. I was considering buying Chanel bag and I was somehow justifying this crazy expensive endeavour, but this disgusting behaviour turned me off from that brand. This price increase is such insensitive and insulting act. I highly doubt Coco Chanel would have done that. This is disgrace to her legacy . Shame. I am not spending my money at Chanel.
What does that have to do with their price increase? Some of their costumers have died of other causes before the pandemic. Chanel is obviously not targeting people who are financially affected by the pandemic as their costumers, neither do they increase prices on goods that are important right now in this situation such as face masks or desinfectant. If Chanel price increases are the only things one has to worry about during a pandemic, they are obviously not affected that much. Or would you cry over the price of a luxury good if a loved one had just passed away?
I have always experienced amazing customer service with Dior, wether it be over the phone, which most of my dealings are as we are not lucky enough to have a store in my city or on the odd occasion I have made it into store. That story you have just told is just wonderful! And their quality is also amazing 🤍 Chanels price increase has left a bitter taste and at a time that I am having trouble with my sa as I am trying to get some pieces in and she is proving to be less than helpful. I know they make it harder to get pieces to make you want them more and possibly buy others in the meantime sometimes and that they are also rude instore so that you feel you have to prove that you can afford these pieces but these procedures are archaic and not tolerated very well anymore. I have my thoughts on the whole situation but I feel you’ve pretty much summed them up!
I have just discovered your channel and clicked on because of the topic in question. So many good points, the most valid for me is the question of quality and the customer experience which is lacking. Choosing to part ways with your money, however much you have or don't is one thing but to do so with a company that doesn't provide the level of exceptional quality or experience is just bad business for both parties. Hermes could significantly benefit from this except that being able to afford it is one thing, having access is a whole different ball game altogether. Thanks again for putting your thoughts across, I don't think I've ever put this much energy into comments on a video.
👏👏I believe there are enough people who say they care for those less affluent and those with fewer opportunities, but they also want to set themselves above those people by buying fancy bags. There is not anything wrong with indulging/treating yourself to luxury items. But I totally agree with you, our generations are placing a higher value on compassion and kindness. We want to treat ourselves and appreciate quality/history, but not to do in a way to make ourselves seem superior.
I will probably never buy a Chanel bag again. I have 3 preloved Chanel bags (including 1 vintage) which I really enjoy. The last two times I purchased in the Chanel boutiques, I had to return the items due to quality issues. If Chanel wants to become more like Hermes, they should focus more on quality control and craftsmanship versus focusing on milking customers for more money. Also, has Chanel forgotten that it’s founder grew up as an orphan?! What’s with all this classism? Great video - as usual. Thanks for sharing! 👍
In France, the web site said they gave mask, and were making them in their atelier. They also said they wouldn’t require gouvernement financial help and would continue pay all their salariés full salary until end of june. And as a french woman i thankfull them for that ! But i totally agree with you with the quality and customer-service they should offer and they don’t if they want to be like hermès.
They actually fired lots of people during the last weeks. Maybe not in the ateliers, but sales people, and so on. So all of their "good will" seems a little fake, tbh.
Your point on quality vs price makes total sense. Brands ripping off like this not justified. On this note can advise on some brands that are on par with price?
No level of quality justifies that price- not even Hermes. That said, luxury buyers (from different generations) buy these brands because of status. And as long as Chanel keeps their status up, consumers will keep aspiring to have Chanel over other luxury brands/designs that come and go and don’t keep their value. Current owners of Chanel handbags will keep loving the brand because bags they’ve bought previously have now increased in value. It increases the desirability of the brand because you know that a bag from Chanel will keep increasing in value over time.
Very true Eveyln, completely agree with you!! I used to be a big fan of Chanel many years ago, but their customer service in Munich sucked(not sure how it is right now) when i last visited them 4 years ago and since then i stopped visiting Chanel boutiques or buy their products. Since then i became a fan of Celine and Dior!!
I agree that it was a completely tone-deaf of Chanel and a poor PR move on their part as well. I've witnessed many people on IG and FB questioning Chanel's contribution to the pandemic efforts in the weeks before they announced the price hike, and I knew that they were skating on thin ice at that point. For many, this astronomical price hike is going to be the last straw that pushes them over to Hermes. I know that for me, I will no longer purchase from Chanel unless it's vintage (when the quality was better anyway).
Lol, I'm kind of happy about it. Now I'll never ever be able to save up and spend the money on one. Even if I did I would never be able to part with that money. And it's probably a good thing lol :)
I think the strongest argument is what you said about quality and production location. They may ask for 10k like Hermès one day, but if they don’t get the quality up to that standard it will hurt their brand. It will be very similar to what happened to Prada. They increased their prices but the quality of the bags went down. The quality got so bad that people would talk about nothing else. And today when I think about Prada, I almost simultaneously think about wacky zippers and chipping hardware. Such a turn off.
Absolutely agree - I personally think a kind of boycott from the people hyping Chanel bags might probably show them they are not as untouchable as they think
I totally agree with everything you said! I still want to buy a black double flap bag, but I'll go after a preowned one. I just can't justify the price of a brand new one, especially when they seem to have so many quality issues these days... and the older bags have real 24k gold plating on the hardware and not just some gold-toned paint lol. What a nice service you had at Dior! I can't believe they just swapped the french version to the english one. Amazing!
Hi, you've mentioned Dior book from exhibition. I went to the exhibition in London and I purchased a book at a time. It's still available on Victoria and Albert museum website (english version obviously). It has a different cover but it's the one they were selling at the exhibition last year.
Great video, as usual, and I agree with everything you said! I am really glad I bought my Chanel mini rectangle pre-loved a couple weeks ago for my birthday. I don’t think I’ll ever buy a Chanel bag from the boutique. At this point I would rather save a bit more and get a small birkin or kelly
Chanel made a big deal about not taking government support to pay staff, insisting no-one would lose their jobs and that they would pay them 100% of out of their own pockets..... And then we hear about CAs being made redundant. All moves are to avoid having to dip into their excruciatingly high profits. I think a lot of consumers will be watching companies to see how they behave during this crisis, and will decide whether they want to continue supporting them in the future. Great video.
Yep, bought my first Chanel pre-loved today (before US gets its increases). I was waiting for the boutique experience, but what is the point with all the crazy increases and quality issues. If I am so lucky to get another, I'm going vintage/pre-loved.
great video Evelyn~ thanks for being so grounded throughout this time even though you work in the fashion industry --which at this time, has exposed itself to be rather unimportant and "luxury" to overly ostentatious
Your video is by far the best I have watched concerning this matter! You succinctly articulated every point, and I wholeheartedly agree with everything you stated! 👏👏👏
Great video and evaluation of the impact of this. I totally agree that younger generations will view this really quite differently to the past. I will no longer be a Chanel customer for fashion, beauty or fragrance. I hope those who feel disgusted show this with their customer choices across their whole brand.
If Chanel wants to become the next Hermès, they should look into matching their quality. I’m at a point where I just accept the price increase and move on. Chanel knew, going into the increase that it won’t harm them in the long-run because despite people being outraged atm, we all know 90% of us will continue shopping at Chanel. It still sucks...
Great thoughts as usual! Totally agreeing on everything. A good example for the even decreasing quality is the Chanel 19 bag which is not leather but cotton lined! You pay a huge price and then you don’t even see the designer house’s attempt for excellence. This move by Chanel and Louis Vuitton really killed my taste for luxury. Will you consider buying Chanel anymore?
I have always loved Chanel since my youth. And I do own one Chanel classic flap which was purchased long ago when the price was pretty "reasonable" at a luxury level. Now with such frequent increases and such high prices, I am rethinking about the luxury bags in whole. I've decided to be more conscience like do I really need this bag?
I agree with Chanel’s standards not being up to standards. Having said that, I didn’t have the best experience with Hermes either when I had to send my bag to repair. It was there for months, no update and they were rather rude on the phone as well (maybe it’s just their English, I don’t know).
I completely agree with you. Chanels quality and customer service is not worth the price. For the difference of a few hundred euros now, why would you do chanel over hermes. I have saved for close to 2yrs for the medium double flap classic and since last summer ot has gone up e1,500.....I just cant justify it. I wonder how long they can survive with the quality going down year after year
I am over here applauding you! Your video along with Sophie's were the best on the subject of the increase of such ridiculous percentages. I'm tired of hearing "well those they want to sell to aren't really impacted". Well chanel didn't become what it is with stores in many cities without selling outside of the elite. And again....quality and service have been the worst of the luxury brands out there, certainly not meriting at 25% increase on product.
Elites wear vintage and chanel handbags from the olden days that’s been passed down.. they buy a Hermès here and there....the middle class people buying LV and other brands to appear rich is what’s making these companies money and they are ashamed of that because it cheapens thier brand.. poor people spend the most
Man, I am SO grateful for my SA. I've sent my handbags to be repaired, and they have done it for free. I believe the bag does have to be under 5 years old, but now, more than ever, I really think it depends on your SA. I've never had terrible service at my local Chanel boutique and every single person who works there has been nothing short of amazing.
Great Video! Totally agree with you, this is just getting out of hand, especially during times like this. And is it just me or does the quality get worse?
You nailed it! Customer service and quality has to compliment the price increases. Price increases do not elevate your standards. There is a great deal of pent-up energy that they are trying to capitalize upon. Do hope they regret their decision.
Just a few comments- I have purchased Chanel bags and have been disappointed. The cache is diminished when hardware begins to lose its luster and stitching is uneven. Even worse when you return to the shop to point out these issues and get accused of treating the handbag poorly. Apparently, uneven stitching is my fault. :) I decided months ago that i would stay away from Chanel and LV due to poor quality and even worse service. Instead I'm looking at Hermes, Celine, maybe Gucci and other brands which are not as visible, but still fantastic quality. as for Hermes, I can't afford their new products at this point in my life, however, I am watching the pre-loved market.
Totally agree with every single point. I have genuinely been put off Chanel recently and especially now. Was due to buy a bag just before the pandemic then obviously couldn’t and now it’s gone up by 20%. I haven’t even considered buying it now out of principle and I don’t even feel gutted as it has made me not even want it anymore. I’m disappointed as Chanel has some stunning things but the quality, customer service etc doesn’t justify their pricing and their overall attitude towards their customers is quite awful ❌
I agree! This move even left a bitter taste with my new bag that I got shortly before the lock down and for the old price. If I would’ve known at that point I probably wouldn’t have bought it out of morals... 🙄
Yessss. I was very disappointed when I heard chase amie and Jerusha defend these increases. I like both ladies but don’t defend classless acts. Not cool. I don’t care who the hell Chanel is. This is a pandemic they should have changed what they normally do and class it up a bit. Just my humble opinion. You are a classy lady I just subscribed. Thank you.
Oh my. I think if the price went together with the quality ....that would be one thing, but it does not! In 2016 my mini req.flap bag lambskin cost me 2300 Euro, the same bag in spring 2019 cost 3000 Euro. Now one year later it cost 3550 Euro. It's too crazy. A 227 Reissue in aged calfskin cost 3200 Euro in 2013. In 2020 it cost 7100 Euro, WTF?????????? A Birkin 30 cost 7750 Euro. Are you kidding me?
Great video! Yes, the price increases are ridiculous and insensitive. I just wanted to mention that a lot of companies switched to producing masks and hand sanitizer because this gave them exempt status as essential business. As such they were able to carry out their business as usual . Unfortunately, many did it to just be able to stay open and for the PR. I feel donating cash was probably more helpful in the long run...
Great video! You made such great points about their lack of involvement during the crisis, their horrible customer service and the mass producing of their products. I am not sure what is going but one thing is for sure Chanel is so out of touch. I will really think twice before buying anything from this brand. I was still very doubtful with their pricing for the past few years but this is ridiculous. Stay safe and healthy 💕
You’re totally right. Chanel sales associates deny all product quality issues. They always say the flaws are completely normal. I was looking at a whole bunch of minis in lambskin and they were all scratched and they tried to deny the scratches were even there and then others said it was totally normal and that all the bags have this and that I should buy it 😂.
As always I couldn't agree with you more! I really appreciate your frankness and honesty. It seems like Chanel is shouting out loud: "can't touch this!". I was waiting on my local boutique to open back up to buy a pair of slingbacks; however now I am unsure that it is going to happen, and most likely it is actually not. I don't want to give my hard earned money to a brand that showcase this lack of value and disrespect to a world that is going through one of the hardest times and most difficult crises. Chanel does not care about the ordinary people? As you said they should start manufacturing hand made bags like Hermes if they want to reach their level in the fashion business, but is it going to happen? I have doubts about it. I appreciate so much more brands like Dior and Gucci that have great customer service and that really show that they care about their clients: ALL of them.
Couldn’t agree more! I even feel kind of bad about my recent mini bag that I got because if I would have know about the increases at that time I might have not bought it because of simple morals!
@@thegeekischic I understand your feelings and I totally agree with you! I think I will go for the Dior slingbacks! They have been on my wishlist for a while now so I guess I will go ahead and pull the trigger ❤️
My guess woudl be - if the retail price goes up than the resale price goes up. Leaving fewer people to buy resale/pre-loved pieces from sites like The real Real. A few high end designers tried to stop TRR from selling their products a few years back. I can;t remember if Chanel is one of them. Also Chanel is a publicly traded company so the parent company must met Wall St's expectations on profits and sales..
Great video! I have a question - do you think you will still be shopping with chanel following this price increase? I don't think i will be - all of ppl say to go the preloved route but I'm not sure how I feel about the brand anymore.
I will certainly not get a Chanel bag anytime soon and I will not pay the new prices for the classics. If I would’ve known about the increases when I got my recent bag I might have not gotten it. Also when I look at bags I often spot quality issues and I never experienced that at Dior so I will rather focus more on Dior bags.
Absolutely agree with everything you said! I mean I've read that they also produced face masks, didn't takemoney from the government but continued to pay their employees on their own etc., and I kind of expected that they will let the customer pay for it (like companies always do in the end...). I absolutely loved Chanel for years but that made me really question my relationship I have with the brand since I'm most probably not their desired target customer and they pretty much bluntly tell me that they don't want me carrying their bags. I hope people a lot of people see these videos and do the same, so that Chanel realises that it is definitely not Hermès (and will never be) and not untouchable because also their super rich customers expect some service and quality and won't accept everything Chanel throws in their faces. Viele Grüße aus Frankfurt und bleib' gesund :)
Ha, getting a Chanel bag was like my 5-10 year long term savings goal... at this rate will turn more into 20-30, thanks Chanel. (Great video as always Evelyn 💕)
This reminds me of the day when goods could be on sale with no price tag.. yes it's true..stores displayed goods with no tag.. especially in the windows to draw people in . "If you need to ask the price you can afford it "
Sehr leidenschaftlich vorgetragen. Chapeau! Tja, diese Luxus Marken sind eh nicht meins, aber wenn eh nur in Masse produziert wird, weiß ich nicht wo der Luxus sein soll. Den Vergleich mit Hermes fand ich interessant.
I also think that the quality of the bags just doesn't justify the price increases. I find their the older bags just better quality than what they do now. e.g. no more gold plating hardware.
I love Dior. It’s disappointing and I agree With all your points about the price increase. I think that I definitely gravitate towards more vintage Chanel because I do think the craftsmanship and quality is better on a lot of those items and also the price points are much better.
Totally agree with the quality aspect 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼as much as I love their brand however noticed recently thier quality of leather is not up to the Mark , price is not justified with quality at all . I prefer their jewelry collection quality over Bag’s quality
You are right channel is a snarky brand. I dont even like their bags and I must admit I even enjoy their price increases cos they make the bags I want look cheaper and cheaper.
If they want to make their bags more exclusive they should increase the quality and experience as well, such as re-introducing gold plating and higher quality leather, having appointments instead of buying over the counter. Only increasing prices just creates a bubble where people will still keep buying because they think the prices will keep increasing, however it might have negative impacts on the brand in the end when people’s investments don’t turn out the way they expected and people realize it’s not worth the price
Honestly...LV is more my price range. However, I was getting ready to climb the “luxury ladder” and move on to Chanel. This increase is absurd. I think I will skip Chanel altogether and move on to Hermes. Hopefully, they will not have an increase 🤭🤭
It's really not that complicated. The re-sale and secondary market prices for Chanel bags was falling to suddenly all time new low prices as people desperate for money because of the pandemic started selling off their bags at low prices because they suddenly needed fast cash. So Chanel raised their prices and stopped the falling prices of their bag.
From my opinion, Hermes plays the game of scarcity to get their bags BUT most of their items are classic and the quality is OUTSTANDING. The problem is Chanel offers more trendy pieces and their products are mass produced and the quality is lacking...increasing the price is perfect for their startegy but they need a higher quality product or else you do not deserve to be a luxury brand., they are only surviving out of the legend of Coco and Lagerfeld. I guess Hermes will keep increasing their prices to create distance from Chanel as well...
I stopped buying Chanel maybe 2 years ago due to quality issues. The hilarious thing about Chanel wanting to become like Hermes is that they are nowhere near Hermes quality, nor do they seem to want to be. There's a reason Hermes is Hermes, and it's not just the price.
I've been watching many youtube luxury videos lately, I realised that the average consumers are not at all the target consumers of these brands, many housewives buying luxury goods on credit cards, gathering at the stores wearing cheap leggings and t-shirts and flip flops, not elegant nor educated, so brands are upset about this new reality although they are making money of them. I'm not judging and I think that brands have always been elitists. Price increase at this moment is terribly inhuman but maybe these new and unexpected clients made brands be even more elitist to protect their image.. what do you think?
They would have struggled before this to catch up with Hermès, given that it emerged fairly recently the Gabrielle Chanel was a Nazi collaborator and vicious anti-Semite. They made it harder by mass-producing their bags and I think this price increase might be the final nail in Chanel's aspirational coffin. Great video as always :)
I totally agree with you! I won’t buy any Chanel . Get your quality right before charging such ridiculously high prices. NEXT !!!
Their basic bags should cost $3000-$3500 maximum !
And even that is overpriced lol 2.5k max lol .. there bags are light weight compared to the old versions
marissarra karing l
Yikes
I have the ability to by a 7,000 Euro bag from Chanel, but never would! It’s insanity...I think insecure women get sucked into the hype. I don’t think Coco Chanel would pay that price either. I think that she would be horrified. It is understandable if they switch to a hand-made process in Italy.
A good car can be bought for 7,000 euros.
This makes me want to buy vintage even more ... Chanel is greedy ...
I love how you are always so calm and articulate in your videos.
Thank you dear!
100% agree, it’s so sad that Chanel is increasing prices where it’s quality is in so poor. 10 years ago you were getting gold plating on classics ... now the metal rubs off after few months and you are told it’s normal .. You are making good point Hermes stands by its products, Chanel is not so much...
Buy vintage it’s all about money now... not worth it
I don’t get why people are so outraged.
SMH
Exactly. If you need to save up for a Chanel, it just isn't for you 😑🤷🏻♀️
@@Buttercookiesssss Well, I must say I need to save for buying a Chanel, can't just go to their store anytime and get whatever I want. :D I still don't think that "Chanel isn't for me" if I can't afford it randomly every day, week, month or even every year. It just takes a little bit more time to save up.
Yes, Chanel and Hermes want to class discriminate.
I actually unsubscribed Chase Amie because of this...
Devon WD what did she say in the video?
oldpalmcity Chase Amie just told the truth. That’s how business works, I’m afraid. Pandemic or not, Chanel is a business and they have to increase their prices to account to their shareholders. Also, price increase is good if you already own a bag- the resale value of the bag will be higher when you go on to sell the bag.
You should watch JerushaCouture's video, she explained it better than Chase Amie.
Does chanel also not realise that some of their customers have also died from COVID-19? Lord.
Such a great video. Totally, agree with you on every point.
Quality is so bad imo, so this increase is just so vulguar. I won't ever buy new Chanel again. I think vintage just seems better.
The vintage is better quality anyway
Service used to be good then too when vintage was the current bag. Really disappointing now. You get a lot less value for the amount of $$$ spent.
I have watched a lot of videos expressing different opinions about this Chanel increase, and of all of them, I think yours is 100% spot on!👍
Your point on quality vs price makes total sense.
Absolutely!
Prada quality is zero .. I have not seen anyone in NYC with a Prada bag their quality is horrible MK has better quality and Kate spade
Hmm....someone needs to tell Chanel that their bags will NEVER be on par with Hermes, regardless of how often and how much they raise their prices.
Oh wow! Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind words!💖
Excellent video! I agree with you wholeheartedly. And with Chanel the quality does not justify the price anymore.
Such a shame!
Fantastic video Evelyn!
Thank you!
I wonder how long they can survive with the quality going down year after year
So frustrating!
Elites wear vintage and chanel handbags from the olden days that’s been passed down.. they buy a Hermès here and there....the middle class people buying LV and other brands to appear rich is what’s making these companies money and they are ashamed of that because it cheapens thier brand.. poor people spend the most
You are “spot on” with your thoughts!
I agree , it really depends on your SA!
So happy I don’t even like Chanel bags. I love Celine and can see value in their products ☺️
Excellent 👌🏻 video and totally share your point of view. Would recommend it to watch it to anyone before buying their first Chanel bag 💼! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💋💋💋💕💕💕
So refreshing, thank you so much for this video! 💕
Can you do a video on "why you only need one luxury handbag"? Like Sophie shohet
It’s noted! 💓 thank you for the idea!
She already copies a lot of Sophie’s ideas, I’d like to see some fresh ideas instead 😃
Offtopic.. i love your necklace - what is the brend?
Thank you! It is a custom made piece in memory of my grandfather but I linked a similar one in the description box💓
Great video! Thank you.
Really informative video. Thank you so much xx
I own 3 Chanel’s and that will be my only 3 Chanel. I’m done with Chanel!!!!
Exactly the same for me!
Exactly I have three Chanel bags too and I am done with Chanel. No more Chanel
same here 3 and thats enough, enough of this greedy company .
Rosa Griffin
lucky you honestly!
I was just about to get my first Chanel but! I’m now I even lost interest in the brand itself.
Soo true...I own a few at the lower prices from recent years and am thinking about downsizing. Don’t need what I already have !
You’re absolutely on point with everything! Well said. This made me subscribe to your channel!
Thank you so so much! I really appreciate that! 🙏🏻💓💓😂
As far as I know Chanel ist still privately owned by the Wertheimers as it has been for decades now.
@@thegeekischic Thank you for the information/correction.
Points well articulated.
(Great video as always Evelyn 💕)
just wondering why no one talk about the increase on chanel ig.
This reminds me of the day when goods could be on sale with no price tag.. yes it's true..stores displayed goods with no tag.. especially in the windows to draw people in .
"If you need to ask the price you can afford it "
Where is your necklace from?
It is a custom made piece in memory of my grandfather💖
Sehr leidenschaftlich vorgetragen. Chapeau! Tja, diese Luxus Marken sind eh nicht meins, aber wenn eh nur in Masse produziert wird, weiß ich nicht wo der Luxus sein soll. Den Vergleich mit Hermes fand ich interessant.
Whoa I didn’t know they don’t that repair service. Even lv has it
I also think that the quality of the bags just doesn't justify the price increases.
I’m so disgusted with Chanel and I agree with their customer service experience. Not the best.
LV now increased their prices too 🤦♀️
Best analysis I’ve heard
So they raised their prices twice within a year??? I was saving for a boybag and i will not. Im not impressed by them.
They raised their prices in November 2019 and now.
I agree with you. Great video.
I stopped buying Chanel maybe 2 years ago due to quality issues. The hilarious thing about Chanel wanting to become like Hermes is that they are nowhere near Hermes quality, nor do they seem to want to be. There's a reason Hermes is Hermes, and it's not just the price.
Maybe it’s just me but I wonder what Coco herself would make of all of this
I planned to add a chanel to my collection but no more.
Thank you for another video!💥💞
They would have struggled before this to catch up with Hermès, given that it emerged fairly recently the Gabrielle Chanel was a Nazi collaborator and vicious anti-Semite. They made it harder by mass-producing their bags and I think this price increase might be the final nail in Chanel's aspirational coffin.
Great video as always :)
