Thank you for showing your card production work flow. I really like that mermaid artwork as well as the baking card near the end. I do see some differences to how I make my cards in my own greeting card video. It is good to see different approaches to the making of greeting cards. Out of curiosity, are 5 x 7 inch greeting cards quite common in Canada? Here in South Australia, they're usually 4 x 6 inches so that is the size that I make mine.
How do you come up with the ideas of what words to put on your cards? I feel like that is the hardest part! Also, thank you for sharing your videos. I love them so much!
I really appreciate your kind words! :) I find the phrases hard to come up with if I try too hard... I keep a running list on my phone of ideas as I come across them. Things like funny t-shirts, puns I hear on podcasts or videos, or things I see on Pinterest give me lots of good ideas. But lots of my cards have really simple concepts too! Sometimes just a Happy Birthday or Thank You works with a really cute illustration.

I know this is an old video, hoping you'll see this comment. How do you ship your card orders to your customers? Are they in a ridged mailer even if it's just one card ordered? Thank you for this amazing video! It has been so helpful.
I use rigid mailers! I actually have never gotten an order for just one card; I don't think it would be very cost effective for either me or the customer, but theoretically I'd probably use a slightly larger regular envelope. The way I package my cards (plastic sleeve with envelope + card inside) plus the heavy paper I use makes the cards super sturdy on their own, so I wouldn't be nervous about shipping one this way. ☺️ Hope that helps!

Greeting cards are not meant to be sold at craft fairs.Instead you need to create popular greeting card designs (by formula) and submit them to a greeting card company by photographing your popular greeting card designs sending the photos in an email attachment to greeting card companies.If the greeting card company agrees to mass produce your card(s) they sell them for no more than two dollars (usually at dollar stores) and they give you a royalty of say,fifty cents for each card.If you sell say,a million cards world wide you make half a million dollars (before taxes).

And yet there was another market where I was so busy selling my cards to many eager people throughout the day. It can vary so much.

Common quotes and sayings are usually fine unless they are trademarked (in the US you can check the database at the US Patent and Trademark Office). And you wouldn't want to use a quote from a book or something that is still under copyright. You can always try Googling the phrase to see what comes up!

I have a video called "The cost of starting my art market business" that covers pretty much everything with $ amounts, but for a greeting card business I personally see my iPad + Apple Pencil + printing costs as the most fundamental. If you were designing cards with premade/licensed graphics, then you'd really only need Canva plus your printing costs. I hope that helps! :)

Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, I do include a copyright symbol. I don't register this anywhere; you automatically have copyright when you create a creative work. There are government agencies where you can register it but that's not something I'm worried about at this point with the size and scale of my business (plus there's a fee every time you do this, and I'd be broke if I registered everything I designed 😅). If you get big enough that you are starting to license work to manufacturers or partners then maybe that's the point to get some advice on it. But you don't need to do anything to be able to use the copyright symbol. At this stage I think it just helps people trace the work back to me if they want to buy more items! Hope that helps :)

It is called "12-point 1-sided glossy cover paper"! Its an option when I order them from Staples printing service. I have also seen it on the US Amazon store I believe, and also a company called The Paper Mill Store. :)

Hi neighbour! 😊 I believe printing them the way I do (as a same-day document with the 12-pt paper) it is about $1.10 each plus tax. I buy my envelopes in bulk on Amazon and it costs about $0.09 each. Staples does have a greeting card printing offering that is something like $2.75 or so per card (can't remember exactly, but bigger discounts the more you buy). I used this option before Xmas because it was on a big sale, and you get the cards pre-cut and scored plus envelopes. However, I found a lot of the scoring inaccurate and they folded poorly. So I will keep printing using the other method unless there is another huge sale on card prints (that I can refold myself)! Hope that helps!
Hmm well I'm using staplescopyandprint.ca which is their interface for sending files to the store in Canada... I'm not sure if the website is set up differently in other countries. But I am using their same day document printing service and just selecting the paper type after uploading the design!

I am using Procreate also, but I don’t have Canva. Is there a reason you don’t print from Procreate.
