  • Hi art friends! In this video I'm going to show you how I make to do list notepads that I sell in my art business. This video includes a walkthrough of my Canva design process which I didn't include in my other notepad video. Also, I'll show you the glueing & finishing process and share any notes/questions that came up from my last vid!
    🌸 materials for this project:
    exacto knife (mine is from Deserres: www.deserres.c...)
    ruler and cutting mat (or paper cutter)
    binder clips or clamps
    paper (I use Xerox Bold Digital 28 lb printer paper here: amzn.to/3Sj9oRh)
    printer (mine is an Epson ET-2400 here: amzn.to/42ISxJL)
    a flexible glue (Modge Podge Satin Water-Based Sealer here: amzn.to/3pRaPdp)
    little paintbrush for the glue
    chipboard or other hard paper for the backing
    optional stamp (mine is custom from Staples)
    magnet sheets you can cut to size (a good option here: amzn.to/3IEvS9y)
    4x8 inch clear bags (like these: amzn.to/437hZsQ)

    It's extremely satisfying to use a heat knife to cut plastic sleeves down to the exact size you need. Then you also get little narrow extra bags in case you ever wanted to include anything else, would work well for pens or bookmarks.

    Cmd + D to duplicate after the first would do the aligning/spacing for you. I'm a daily Canva user, and find this one of the best beginner Canva videos I've seen - great introduction for anyone, well done :)

    Thank you for the video! I decided to make these as teacher gifts for my kids this year! I plan to have my kids each design their own graphic for the top, and help with the assembly. I love the idea of teacher gifts that can be used up and not kept forever. I think the only extra thing I will have to buy is the cutting mat and a good exacto knife, though doing it with scissors is certainly still an option.

      I use it for printables all the time and it works great! However their CMYK conversion isn't great. I export as RGB and let my printer do the conversion instead. Nice and vibrant that way.

    Guys, just a quick tip for you guys.
    In Canva, to change the orientation, we need to buy premium.
    But what you can do is that when creating the size, we put the width first and then the height
    Example: 8.3 x 11.7
    That makes it vertical.
    But if we enter the height first and then the width, it will become horizontal.
    Hope this helps and happy crafting!
    Edit: what i mean by this is that in the place of the width, put the height and repeat for the other.

    Question: If I make a background pattern in Procreate, how can I put that into Canva? (I have never used Canva before.)

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  Год назад +1

      Thanks so much for watching! :) For getting the backgrounds into Canva, you have a few options. You could get the Canva app on your iPad, open up the design there, and import right from your iPad photo library. However, I don't like designing on the iPad app so I'd move to the computer version after if possible! Another option is to put your design on your computer via Google Drive or Airdrop and then drag and drop it into your Canva design when you have it open. It's really easy once you get the hang of it!

    Would you say its more cost efficient this way?

    • @luckysprout
      @luckysprout  11 месяцев назад

      Its cost efficient if you don't have a budget to order a large quantity from a printer, and have the time to do the handcrafting. In order to get a bulk order of notepads from a printer at a reasonable cost, you'll have to place a minimum order of anywhere from 100-500 units usually, which lots of stationery startups can't afford right away. So it's more cost efficient than ordering small quantities from a printer. :)

    I started using the paper you use for your own notepads, and I agree that they are very nice to write on, but I found that if I scratch the design or rub the design, the ink comes off and does a little smear on the paper. It does this after it prints and cools down(it’s been a few days since it’s been printed). Does this happen with your notepads? I use a canon pixma ix6820
    Also thank you for your tutorials. They are the most helpful!

      Hi! I haven't had any issues like you've described with the paper, how strange... it sounds like there's some problem with the ink on the paper, but I don't know why. I use this paper/ink combo for everything (notepads, stationery, art print inserts, etc.) and they all hold up really well. I'm sorry you're having this problem! :( but thank you so much for watching!
