So this story is done so much better in the 90's Teen Titans animated show. It's a huge part of the series and actually ties into the series finally episode. But here they just didn't have enough time to flesh out Tera in general, and her beautifully sad relationship with Beast-Boy. The comics did some questionable things with her, in my opinion, just to be edgey, but for people like me, who's introduction to her was the 90s show, she was truly beloved.

Honestly, the story of Terra has always been my favourite. In the comics, this movie and perhaps even more so in the "Teen Titans" show, with "Betrayal" and "Aftershock" pt 1& 2. The latter edges out the others, because of the tonal shift of those episodes. It hits pretty hard, which is not something I expected from that show.
Her story is good, but I can't help but feel it did ruin Slade a smidge or two, don't get me wrong he is an evil bastard and out of every human DC villan he's probably in the top 3 of people that is quite frankly is too dangerous to be kept alive. But his relationship with Terra 🤮 I expect that kind of behavior from Talia, considering how her kid was born. Training Jason to kill by day and sleeping with him by night is just normal in a world that is stuck in the dark ages. Slade is supposed to know better, since in the comics he's not actually a league member, not in any traditional sense.

@@spikejr3113jr the first half of season 3, focusing on Nightwing's team, is GREAT. Not a huge fan of the second half of that season. Still enjoyed it, but it felt like there was so much more potential which just never got tapped into in the back half of season 3. Season 4 took an interesting approach I really liked, giving a bit more focus on individual characters a bit better. I don't think it works quite as well as the first two seasons, but still works really well. Part of Young Justice's problem was it always had too many characters for its own good. By the end of the 2nd season, I was feeling a bit down that we got so little from some of the characters like the new Robin, Wonder Girl (who at least got one good focus episode), Bumblebee, and Mal. The 3rd season started to correct that by focusing so much on Nightwing's new team, but once the rest of them were brought in during the second half it felt like tere were too many characters to really provide any development on any of them.
Hey guys, just wanted to clarify that this continuity is called the DCAMU (DC Animated Movie Universe) and not the DCAU (DC Animated Universe). The DCAU is comprised of Batman the Animated Series, Batman Mask of the Phantasm, Batman & Mr. Freeze SubZero, Superman the Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Mystery of the Batwoman, Batman Beyond, Batman Beyond Return of the Joker, Static Shock, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.
@@spikejr3113jrYea its supposed to be. Slade in the comics is a piece of shit in almost every way. That's why I'm actually slightly conflicted by the change in later comic's. Of making Slade less evil. I kind of like when my villains are actually pieces of s***. But ehh
The Dark Knight Returns I and II, Superman vs the Elite, Justice League Crisis on 2 Earths/Doom, Batman Superman:Public Enemies/Apocalpse, Batman: Year One, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern:First Flight are all amazing as well
The Judas Contract was the introduction of Nightwing and one of the best series in comic book history - Its difficult to place in one movie - alot was left out. But this was a solid movie - especially if you arent privy to the comic book run. Tera's powers are crazy. Jericho (son of Slade) was introduced - they had a lookalike with the individual that was shot in the head. Missing is Cyborg and Wonder Girl (Donna Troy). In the fight scene with Kory and Bo staffs - that would have been Donna.
Fun Fact: Jericho( The kid with curly blond hair and green eyes who you said looks like Bill from "Bill and Ted") is Deathstroke`s youngest son Joey Wilson. In The Comics, he was briefly an honorary Teen Titan until he accidentally was killed in a mission and his psychic energies were possessed by the evil spirits of Azarath under Trigon`s control, leading him in turn to possess his father Slade, making him even more psychotic and obsessed with vengeance on the Titans for killing Joey`s older brother Grant, the first Ravager whose contract against the Titans he took up in retaliation. He also had a silent unrequited crush on Rachel Roth/ Raven so there`s that. I guess age gap relationships run in the Wilson bloodline, don`t they?
Yeah, this is the one reaction I have been waiting for..this is by far my favorite dcamu film, we get Deathstroke at his best, hitting the one liners, we get Nightwing showing why he is the best titan and why even in this film he's looked upon with such a high status within the team...never been a fan of Daimen in this universe but this is the film where I warmed up to him abit bc he finally starting maturing and dropping the snot nose bratty persona and finally we get the best showing of Starfire and her relationship with Dick, if you aren't shipping them in this film, you never will. This is by far the best showing for the Titans and the villians aka Deathstroke and Brother Blood.
I'm a bit surprised Coy wasn't already familiar with the Judas Contract storyline, I find it's one of the most famous Titan's runs. Not hating, we all have gaps, but this one surprised me a bit.
Yeah I remember when they announced this movie and I was like are they going to do the whole Deathstroke and teenage Terra thing from the original Judas Contract. They did and it was very creepy. Did not like it in the comic or this adaptation. They did a good job of adapting this story minus the creepiness in the Teen Titans cartoon.
It is understandable. This has nothing to do with love. Terra was in her rebellious phase - against everything the Titans stand for. And for Deathstroke, it is about getting the job done - even if it means playing along with a rebellious teenager.
They did Nightwing so dirty in this movie Dick Grayson is one of best fighters in DC he's taken down Deathstroke multiple times and has beaten Batman. And he gets beaten in a training exercise and owned by Deathstroke.
The Terra/Beast Boy arc was best in the Teen Titans show. Rushing through and adding the grooming side to her Slade relationship threw me when I first watched but I will always enjoy this story so I quite liked! So eager for your reactions to Apokolips War!
With some exceptions like Terra being an orphan instead of the daughter of the king of Markovia, and NW in a different spot in his life, this is pretty accurate to the famous comic, down to Nightwing being the one not captured and coming to save them, also beast boy in love with Terra, Raven butting heads with her, and death stroke sleeping with a 16 yo Terra is all from the comic
Which it shows NW sticking the plank of wood under his jacket while on the plank just before he faces him and is shot, just so you know since that part seemed to be confusing to ya
Fun fact the creators of this movie intended Kid Flash to be a young Barry Allen instead of Wally and made sure to match the colors up. Which explains the blonde hair. So I wonder if Barry was Kid flash to Jay Garrick
I believe the last batch of movies that y’all have left are in this order: Suicide Squad: H To pay, The Death of Superman, Reign of the Supermen, Batman: Hush, and Justice League Dark Apolkolips War.
Philippians 2:14-16, "Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. Holding forth the word of light; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain." -KJV Damien and Dick Grayson are tied for me. Absolutely love them two and their dynamic relation in this movie!
I highly recommend the animated film Deathstroke Knights and Dragons which is written by J.M. DeMatteis and has Michael Chiklis as the voice of Slade. It is really great.
The sad thing about the movie is that they don't revisit the post credit scene in future movies. We're just left with that little tease that ends up going no where.
@@Hellohellonada This one is pulling more from the comics, where they were in an actual (unhealthy) relationship. The TV show toned it down to make it kid friendly.
I liked that they brought in the Young Justice voices for the prologue, but overall, I agree with Coy in this, this one didn't grab me. It felt like a season finale to a tv show I missed all the other episodes of.
I can't thank you enough for bringing us these amazing reactions. And as always I hope we can see Death and Reign of Superman reaction as soon as possible.
Fun Fact: Jason Spisak who voices Silco in "Arcane" voices Wally West/Kid Flash here and in "Young Justice". Jason as you can probably tell has a very versatile voice range. Not bad for a dude pushing 80 now, huh? To be fair, he has been voice acting and doing some commercials since he was a literal child.
Another cool thing about the prologue is that they have the same VAs for Wally, Roy and Karen that they have in the YA TV Show, which is pretty awesome
I highly recommend that people read the original "Judas Contract". It is one of the most important stories in Teen Titan's history and foundational to a lot of what followed. It was the first appearance of Dick Grayson as Nightwing and the first appearance of Jericho. This is just an adaptation of the original to fit inside this New 52 era inspired animated series. Blue Beetle and Damien never took part in the original. Jaime Reyes didn't exist back then and nor did Damien. Cyborg was actually on this team with Donna Troy aka Wonder Girl.
Yay more Coy Boyz and John DC animated reaction!!! Hope it never ends haha…watching you guys actually makes rewatching your reactions even more enjoyable lol. Still hope you guys do Young Justice and Justice league/Justice League Unlimited
my personal favorite titans story line brough to animation! CHEFS KISS also nightwing v deathstroke fight scene after the titans get captured... is amazing.
I'm surprised Coy hasn't read the Judas Contract, it's a pretty big Titans thing. Also surprised he doesn't know about Jericho, Slade's son. Though the movie didn't give any indication that it was Jericho, just visually looks like him.
I was they didn't destroy this continuity, this has been the best DC. Very close to animated Young Justice. Waiting to see your reaction to dark Justice.
The thing that sucks is that in live action Titans they don't want to use Kid Flash due to his speed abilities as he can handle the situation without the help of Titans. He is too fast and can get things done quickly and the other excuse being budget lol.
Yeah, having speedsters in any way kinda makes it OP for that team. Almost makes more sense why marvel and other fandoms don't really have/utilize speedsters they way DC does.
@@fireeaglefitnessmartialart935 well i mean in the teen titans, wally's still young and basically learning how to be a hero still, when barry is presumed dead he officially became flash instead of kid flash and he's always been that since, some iterations use bart allen in the titans, but typically the speedsters do grow out of it and have far more important things to do, like both wally and barry deal with multiversal canon changing events
Just a heads up, I didn’t find this out til recently. This is technically the DCAMU. The DCAU was the 90s - 2000s universe going from Batman: The Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited. Speaking of, guys… you NEED to react to those classic cartoons as well as the animated movies “Mask of the Phantasm” & “Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.” I’m sure you probably watched them at a younger age, but it’d still be a very fun recap since James Gunn said he’s taking inspiration from them when it comes to the new DCU & rightfully so, the DCAU is still the best stuff DC has put out in terms of media.
18:55 here’s the story guys Slade is an old man messing around with Tara who is a teenager this is accurate in the comics and it is very creepy but it’s true
The character in the post credit scene that came back to life was Jehrico. In the comics he was Titan who could possess other people's bodies and was one of Deathstroke's kids. Also, Terra was a teenager. In the comics there was a weird romantic relationship between her and Slade, but the movie changed it to be one sided and that Slade was just taking advantage of her love for him for saving her.
13:11 so I think they were doing an experiment, so the invulnerability was only temporary and not long lasting. Or they’ve done this experiment so many times, they know what can actually shoot them, or it’s velocity based, as the crow bar can only be swung so fast, but those are my theories on why the bullet killed him.
In the original comic this comes from it's worse than this, Terra is 16 and Deathstrokes flat out sleeping with her.. the Judas Contract comic is one of the more famous TT comics also, and a pretty old one
The blond guy at the end is Jericho, Slade wilsons son. :D fun fact he is mute but he has really neat powers. if you read the New Teen titans comic you'll see more on him. great underrated character.

Sadly nothing ever came up of it in this universe. Similar to how Cassie Sandmark the other wonder girl is in another DCAMU movie.
@@SubzeroBlack68 yeah, I've seen pretty much all the these DC Animated films and I don't recall Jericho ever returning. Not sure if it's just something that'll never end up going anywhere or what exactly. I hadn't connected the dots between Jericho's powers and Blood's quote, but now that you mention it it makes sense. I was aware prior of more or less what Jericho could do, but it's nice to have a refresher.
Yep!Him,and Rose (Ravager)..His possesion abilities are like Deadman,except he's still alive. ❤
@@SiriuslyBlack7 yes, I'm aware. I didn't mention any of that other stuff because it wasn't relevant to the video or the movie watched in the video.
Young justice reactions would be great, at least for the first two seasons, it's similar to the teen titans in group dynamics and such
Just written so much better.
That'd be epic
I personally still enjoyed season 3 and 4 of young justice.
You’re suppose to be creeped out by the Deathstroke and Terra stuff.
I’m surprised Coy doesn’t know about the Judas Contract comic
It’s literally the story where dick Grayson became nightwing.
@@spikejr3113jr it’s like the only Titans story that people talk about too
Hey guys, just wanted to clarify that this continuity is called the DCAMU (DC Animated Movie Universe) and not the DCAU (DC Animated Universe).
And zeta project, but it’s not very good
👍👍👍
Oh and guys Terra is 14 in this movie and Slade is between 57 or 65
How old is Garfield? He was the same age as Grayson five years ago.
Awe I love getting to see puppy Titus in this. I also love that it’s Raven giving Damien Titus. It’s really cute.
I'm honestly shocked that Coy missed out on so many of these stories! I'm glad to experience them for the first time with him and John!
Agree
Yeah, for a comic book geek that's odd.
The plank of wood Dick used was the one he grabbed while being chased by Slade heading towards the docks
Fun fact for the bois
The weird Terra- Slade relationship was a thing in the og comic
It’s still extremely creepy not to mention very illegal that Slade a guy in at least his late 30s early 40s is sleeping with a 16 year old.
@@spikejr3113jrYea its supposed to be. Slade in the comics is a piece of shit in almost every way. That's why I'm actually slightly conflicted by the change in later comic's.
Of making Slade less evil. I kind of like when my villains are actually pieces of s***. But ehh
The Dark Knight Returns I and II, Superman vs the Elite, Justice League Crisis on 2 Earths/Doom, Batman Superman:Public Enemies/Apocalpse, Batman: Year One, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern:First Flight are all amazing as well
I enjoy the "I know a lot of this subject, and I welcome the opportunity to learn more about aspects of which I am unaware" approach.
Lol, Batman and the Displate falling in the background at 15:22 was hilarious! 😆
“Let’s do that move from last week” “what will the team think” 😳… and they say these cartoons and superheroes are for kids 😅😂
coy's 'don't do it' after the signing up for twitter bit LMAO
after following coy for a while, that response really hit home.
The DCUA and DCAU had some underrated movies like this one.
Welp, it makes us hate Deathstroke even more…don’t know why they had to go the pedo route tho.
@@bootysnatcher4207 Yeah…that doesn’t hold up well.
It is understandable. This has nothing to do with love. Terra was in her rebellious phase - against everything the Titans stand for. And for Deathstroke, it is about getting the job done - even if it means playing along with a rebellious teenager.
@@brianng8350 it’s more that it’s gross depicting it at all. Like you’re right to why they did it. But it’s still gross and weird.
Yeah creepy is the point, you're supposed feel disgusted bcoz it is and the strory doesn't frame it as anything other than that
I’ve always appreciated how they return to Deathstroke’s whole pipe comment.
I read this comic in the 5th grade, almost 10 years after its release and by the end, Dick Grayson had become my favorite comic book character.
18:13 see Terra’s betrayal is a reference to how Judas betrayed Jesus Christ. That’s why it’s called the Judas Contract
Yeah that make sense
“Thou shall not commit adulteration “ idk why but i find it funny how this is a commandment like they thought of cheating before anything else 😂
Beast Boy's speech at the end....gets me every time.
The scenes with Terra and Deathstroke nearly gave me a lethal aneurysm.
43:41 He doesn't come back, but his name is Jericho. He possesses people like a ghost just by looking into their eyes, aaaand he's Deathstroke's son
3:49 Lucky Robin 😃
Young Justice reactions would be amazing! You'd be surprised at how good everything is, from the writing to animation
RAVEN DESERVES A LIVE ACTION 🐦⬛
Love Nightwing and hope to get Dylan O'Brien As Dick Grayson/Nightwing In The DCU.
I always saw Dylan O’Brien as Wally West kid flash more then nightwing with his fast talking jokiness from his portrayal of stiles in teen wolf.
@@spikejr3113jr Maybe. Hope to get Timothee Chalamet As Barry Allen/The Flash And Josh Brolin As Bruce Wayne/Batman.
I believe the last batch of movies that y’all have left are in this order: Suicide Squad: H To pay, The Death of Superman, Reign of the Supermen, Batman: Hush, and Justice League Dark Apolkolips War.
Wonder Woman: Bloodlines is apart of this continuity as well I believe.
@@wwfnbafan That one too
WB: “How meta would you like it to be?”
Kevin Smith: “Yes”
These reactions are so invigorating. Other reactions I'd love to see are a bit childish like The lego batman movie or Teen titans go to the movies.
Philippians 2:14-16, "Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.
Holding forth the word of light; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain." -KJV
Damien and Dick Grayson are tied for me. Absolutely love them two and their dynamic relation in this movie!
I highly recommend the animated film Deathstroke Knights and Dragons which is written by J.M. DeMatteis and has Michael Chiklis as the voice of Slade. It is really great.
They gotta see it 🔥🔥💯
The sad thing about the movie is that they don't revisit the post credit scene in future movies. We're just left with that little tease that ends up going no where.
Miguel Ferrer's voice was perfect for Deathstroke.
This was definitely call backs to the original Teen Titens show. Hive, Brother Blood, the Tera arc.
I was so happy to see it! Although it was a father daughter situation with Terra so this was a little odd
@@Hellohellonada This one is pulling more from the comics, where they were in an actual (unhealthy) relationship. The TV show toned it down to make it kid friendly.
@@ImAlsoMerobiba ahhh didn’t get to that story in the comics! Thanks
I liked that they brought in the Young Justice voices for the prologue, but overall, I agree with Coy in this, this one didn't grab me. It felt like a season finale to a tv show I missed all the other episodes of.
I feel like Jenna Ortega might be a great Raven for the DCU. But it's about time damn that we see a live action Beast boy done right.
I can't thank you enough for bringing us these amazing reactions.
And as always I hope we can see Death and Reign of Superman reaction as soon as possible.
It’s creepier in the source material, but yeah it’s pretty creepy nonetheless
LOVE this comic ❤ The film was a good representation
I'm excited for you to watch the next one in the series, 'Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay'. It's one of my favorites.
My favorite Reaction Channel reacting to one of my favorite superhero teams of all time. Awesome!
Deathstroke went full Cosmodore mode
The planet “Okara” that Starfire mentioned is the homebase of the Orange Lanterns.
Orange Lanterns, actually.
@@captaincomic8678 Right, sorry I was going by memory from the Lego game I played a while back.
A lot more people know Speedy now because of Young Justice.
🐳They never ended up going back to the Jericho stuff.🐋 43:38
Yay more Coy Boyz and John DC animated reaction!!! Hope it never ends haha…watching you guys actually makes rewatching your reactions even more enjoyable lol. Still hope you guys do Young Justice and Justice league/Justice League Unlimited
Young Justice is legendary
@@someguy34hnt just wish we get a season 5
my personal favorite titans story line brough to animation! CHEFS KISS also nightwing v deathstroke fight scene after the titans get captured... is amazing.
Just realized they used the same voice actor for arsenal/speedy/whatever in Young Justice. Nice.
I'm surprised Coy hasn't read the Judas Contract, it's a pretty big Titans thing. Also surprised he doesn't know about Jericho, Slade's son. Though the movie didn't give any indication that it was Jericho, just visually looks like him.
I think Terra is the villain they're focused on fleshing out here
Favorite Bible verse:Ezekiel 25:17 "The path of the righteous man.."/and Young Justice!😂😂😂
Speedy and his issues are a major part of Young Justice
LES GO! I love Dc animation and am glad you guys are recognizing it
A beautiful teen titans film I loved what was going on with Blue beetle and nightwing
I was they didn't destroy this continuity, this has been the best DC. Very close to animated Young Justice. Waiting to see your reaction to dark Justice.
You two need to do a watch/rewatch of the original Teen Titans series.
Let's be honest here terra deserves really much worse
I am SHOCKED youve never read the original Judas Contract. Its such a staple Teen Titans story
Obligatory comment for the algorithm, and for John's smile and Coy's biceps. God bless.
Just a heads up, I didn’t find this out til recently. This is technically the DCAMU.
The DCAU was the 90s - 2000s universe going from Batman: The Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited. Speaking of, guys… you NEED to react to those classic cartoons as well as the animated movies “Mask of the Phantasm” & “Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.”
I’m sure you probably watched them at a younger age, but it’d still be a very fun recap since James Gunn said he’s taking inspiration from them when it comes to the new DCU & rightfully so, the DCAU is still the best stuff DC has put out in terms of media.
18:55 here’s the story guys Slade is an old man messing around with Tara who is a teenager this is accurate in the comics and it is very creepy but it’s true
They really did Deathstroke dirty in the DCAMU, and even Judas contract comic
The character in the post credit scene that came back to life was Jehrico. In the comics he was Titan who could possess other people's bodies and was one of Deathstroke's kids. Also, Terra was a teenager. In the comics there was a weird romantic relationship between her and Slade, but the movie changed it to be one sided and that Slade was just taking advantage of her love for him for saving her.
Man, I LOVE this movie! One of the best.
You guys need to watch the Teen Titans show, they did the Judas Contract in it amazingly!
15:23 Batman can’t believe robin lost
😂😂😂
The blonde dude in the post credit scene was Jericho, in some continuities he’s Deathstroke’s son.
Do they ever explain what happened to Speedy, Kid Flash and Bumblebee?
The blond guy at the end is Jericho, Slade wilsons son. :D fun fact he is mute but he has really neat powers. if you read the New Teen titans comic you'll see more on him. great underrated character.
